Hi! how long took your Apple Watch to show you the "optimized charge" way? I have mine since 6 months and always charge to 100% despite I put in the configuration to use the optimized charge... 🤯
Hi Daniel, I stopped the optimising stopping at 80% so it can charge it to 100% and I do have Apple Watch optimised settings turned on however I can not turn the 80% back on to optimise to 80% and stop. Like it does not have that hook anymore to stop at 80%. How do I get it turned back on to stop at 80%? Cheers Craig
What happened to the technology that prevents the battery from overcharging? What about the trickle charging to 100 percent? Technology, I thought, has become better to lessen the worry of these issues.
Great video! Apple says the Ultra makes it to 36 hours - is this based on charging the battery to 80% or 100%? I think they also say “on a full charge” so I’m just curious, why would Apple actively talk about “fully charging the battery” if the Watch goes up to 80% per default?
Hi Daniel I have series 7 watch and I don’t know how to change the setting to 80% only. At one time I must have changed a setting as it always charges to 100% how do I change it back to 80% charging limit?? Cheers Sammy 😄
Weird thing is that while my mum’s Series 10 does this and we had no idea why (thanks for the video) my new Series 10 does not. It charges to 100% as my previous S6 did. She had a S7 so not sure why this is different for us.
Thank you for explaining this, my Apple Watch series 9 was not charging at a hundred percent and I just got it for Christmas. So I thought something maybe wrong it but it was too new to be having problems. 🤦♀️
What’s the point in having a watch that will stay charge for 36-48 hours, but only charge it up to 80% ? I might as well keep using my Apple Watch 5, since it dead after 15 hours or so. Oh, I still got to leave it at home when taking a trip since I can’t keep it charge in my car. I guess I will continue to take my regular watch on trips.
The 11 pro max, charged every night and then used, rarely ever went below 50% usage in a day. I'm on it constantly. If it drops below 70% or more, I might charge it mid-day depending on my plans for later. It is still at 86% capacity and lasts all day, rarely falling below 50%. Never store the phone at 100%, and never store the phone at less than 20%. Buy an RC car and learn how to maintain and store their batteries. You'll be fine. DJI drone batteries will actually drain themselves to a certain % if fully charged and left for a period of time. That's all Apple is doing here. They aren't performing some magic act, they are accommodating people that charge their phone to full and don't turn it on or use it all day.
Just switched to Apple in December of 2023, and it has been a complete nightmare! This is just another nail in the coffin, since the charge limit started the battery also seems to run down much quicker! I am a golfer and use it on the course the screen is on almost the whole time tapping it to keep score and doing me club selections figuring out yardages, I haven't played 36 this year yet but wondering if it will last, this is just more apple garbage! ROTTEN APPLE!!!
Hi I have an Apple watch series 10 and I also have enabled the optermised charge limit but my Apple watch will still charge over 80 percent to a 100 percent
I call BS! I have owned my Series 3 Apple Watch since February 2020 (typing this July 2024). I have been wearing my Apple Watch Series 3 daily (it’s the only watch I wear), and before I go to sleep I put it on the charger and leave it for hours (6-8 depending on how much sleep I get) until I wake up. My Apple Watch Series 3 is sitting on 100% Battery Health. Watch OS 8.8.1 and I still have battery before I go to sleep every day. I have even managed 2 days without charging (forgot the charger at home on a trip). Currently it’s 14:17 in the afternoon (been wearing the watch since 5:45am and was at 100% when I put it on) and it’s sitting at 80% charge, and going into “Battery Health” it says “Maximum Capacity 100%” - after over 4 years of daily use! Optimized Battery Charging is ON.
The Optimized Charge Limit it's only if you charge the watch all night and you leave it to the charger, if you charge the watch in a day you don't need it charge the watch 1 hour the watch will charge 100% and it's ok.
Don’t worry. Whatever Apple decide you’re using will throttle its own performance way down well before you see battery related issues. Long term use of Apple devices, while maintaining peak performance has not played out to be a realistic option.
@@DanielAboutTech Is this battery life on your AWU taking into account charging up to 80% and not dropping below 20%? My Ultra doesn't last 2 full days even deactivating the always-on display and lifting my arm to light up the screen. This without doing any physical activity, just basically getting notifications and tracking sleep.
And on the latest beta even, no option to have it actually stop at 80, the message on the bottom confirms it will charge to 100 once it's sure I will be taking it off the charger. I wish I had the feature you seem to have.
80%, so now we need to carry a portable battery --battery charger to make it back to the house or buy an $900 Ultra with a little longer battery life or some check Chinese knockoff, or a Garmin device with multiple day battery life? No Oxygen sensor, still no blood pressure or blood sugar features.
Hey dental I have ever charged my iPhone to 80 percent and unplug it from the charger and then in the morning I noticed the battery draining quite quickly
I call BS on this battery saver feature. The battery being charged to 80% does nothing different to how the battery charges and with use the battery will drain the same as it always has. Batteries lose charge capacity over their life with recharging, that’s expected. Not over charging a battery to cause blow out and those sort of issues is the real deal here: stopping the careless from needlessly damaging by leaving a fully charge battery on the charger. However, charging to less then max does not save the battery as the loss will still be there. The user wont notice till over 80% loss has occurred and with how long that amount of noticeable loss will take the user most likely’ll have replaced the item with the next best thing. Therefore, this update is better for Apple as it may mean less complaints, less requests for battery replacement and happier customers who have chosen to think the 80% charge update was good for their device. 😂 This is just Apple giving the consumer what they want regardless of whether or not it is a good thing. Like giving a child that candy they been begging for just to shut them up for a time even though it may not be good for their teeth. 😅 ANYWAY… what-ever, lol…
Modern Li batteries don't have a battery charge memory. This is gaslighting by Apple just put in a high quality battery that will last through multiple charging cycles instead of requiring the paying consumer to limit the charge to make up the quality difference. Also truth in informing by Apple should be times between charges based on 80% not 100% or give both numbers. Just my humble thoughts.....

The optimised charging limit does not engage for people who use their battery to the fullest (from 100 to low battery). It activates only if the on device AI detects that you are not using your battery’s full capacity and only using 20-30% every day.
