This being a “faulty battery” with their watches, honest practice would be for Apple to recall those watches and replace them with an adequate battery; Apple Care or not. This is clearly a manufacture’s issue and not the burden of the customer.
I actually got a replacement battery for it and successfully put everything back together but the snake is still there.

Thank you so much for all of this information. I have no clue about Apple products but my son gifted his sister a watch before he left for college. Just got it and it had the green snake of death. Only thing is 1) I had the charger upside down 😂 2) had it connected to a power source with multiple jacks 3) it wasn't hooked up to a apple cube. I learned alot today. Thank you. It just powered on to the apple logo right at the end of this video.
I listen to your advice and follow it completely. I spent like 2 hours pushing the buttons so the battery die faster. Once it stop working, I plugged it to the charger and 15 minutes later the magic happened. Thank you for your advice.

Just took mine out package and try to cut it on no luck. Put it on the charger no luck at all should I get a new battery

Just coming back to this video about a month later. It took forever for it to die completely but it works just fine after fully charging it so just be patient. this video saved me hundreds. Thanks bro your the bomb
So I did this and it absolutely worked. Only thing I did differently was I kept making the charge image flash on, until it wouldn’t. Instead of letting it sit there and die, I figured I could expedite the process by getting it to die sooner.

My experience: Following his steps, I took my watch off of the charger. After about 8 hours, my watch died. I plugged my charger into the wall and placed my watch on it. The apple logo popped up. After about 30 seconds, the green snake of death came back. That was totally okay though because after about 15 minutes, the snake disappeared and the watch turned on. Thank you so much!!!!
thank you for this information because if i did this and i saw the green snake of death again i would go bonkers. i just got my used series 4 apple watch and i’m hoping this works. i’m currently in the process of letting it die out..

I just drained the battery of my series 7. Then when i plugged it, it showed the apple logo, then i get the green snake again. fingers crossed it would finally boot up.

FOR EVERYONE IN 2023. IF YOU HAVE A NEW APPLE WATCH INCLUDING THE ULTRA AND IT IS DEAD OUT THE BOX THEN YOU GET THE GREEN SNAKE. JUST PUT IT ON TRHE CHARGER FOR ABOUT A HOUR AND I PROMISE IT WILL WORK(MAKE SURE WHEN ITS PLUGGED IN THE CHARGE ICON IS GREEN NOT RED). IF THE ICON IS RED YOU WILL NEED A NEW CHARGER.
Worked perfectly!!! I tried it a couple times using the multi USB charger that i have and it did not work. The key seems to be plugging it directly into an outlet with a single apple charger. Thanks a ton for the help!!

I wouldnt say it was to the point. it took him 5 minutes to say "leave it off charge for a day or two, let the battery run down to zero, then do a full recharge". thats a 20 second video
Whilst it was good advice, it was LONG - hardly the BEST advice ever, you need to watch more videos which give advice...

@Saad Alqarni yes, i just went back to where i got it and they let me get it replaced, all they did to fix the other one was leave iton the charger but thats exactly what i did so idk
I had been unable to use my watch for 3 months now and this method worked for me!!
If you are having difficulty with running your battery down, do it manually by constantly pressing the side button to wear it out.
I saw in another comment that you can connect it to the charger and then press both buttons at the same time for about two minutes. It worked for me!

for my iWatch Series 6, took 5 days for its battery to be completely drained. Then i plugged it to my iMac using an USB and it work perfectly. Now it is workin perfectly
Once the battery is completely drained, and you put it back on charge, what color is supposed to be the screen? Does the red or green snake of death come ?

I never comment but can’t believe this worked! I was charging from a extension lead for 8 hours! And as soon as I plugged directly to the main wall within 10 minutes it worked Thankyou!

I read a ton of comments and the thing that worked for me was changing the plug to an outlet and on an iPad charger. Gave it enough power with the stronger power brick and started up in 3 minutes
My iwatch se would only charge up to 89 percent. So I followed this video and let my watch die completely. Charged it over night and it worked! My watch charges up to 100 percent again. Thanks for this video!
Series 8. Took a whole hour to charge and move from the snake screen to turning on. Was literally about to unplug and do this method and then I looked over- it switched on. So maybe give it an hour. I actually gave one back after it was on the charger for 30 minutes and this is the second watch with the same issue! So give it a try for an hour and see how you go. Hopefully this works otherwise.
another thing you can try if the problem started after watchOS 8.3 update: Put the watch over the charger only for 2 minutes, them remove it from there for another 2 minutes. Repeat that until you get at least 50% and do a config reset. Don't try to reset the configs if you don't get 50% cause the process you drain that even if you keep the watch on the charger and you will have a dead loop.
Thank you for this! I just opened my brand new AW 8 and got that snake screen. I’ll be taking it back to the store tomorrow before the 14 day return policy expires. What a bad first impression though for my first ever Apple Watch.

I am facing the same issue left it and battery drained but when I plug it it show green and got heat after 20-25 min it's show red snake then i plugged out and plug in again the same issue 20min green the. Red so what should I do
I bought a brand new watch today at BestBuy and had this issue, returned it and got a replacement which did the same thing. I'm not sure if these are lemons but I'm royally annoyed and I'm not sitting on it for days to drain the water while hoping for the best.

How long does it take for the battery to completely drain away ? I just bought a new Apple Watch 8 & I am facing the same issue, its been a couple of days now but still see the red snake when I press any of the buttons.
Take it to an Apple Store and they will send it to their facilities and they will replace it since it has a 1 year warranty.

Just opened my brand new Apple Watch for Christmas and I’m experiencing this problem already from taking it out of the box. If I understand your video correct there is a fault with the battery…….. it’s going back…if I have this problem already for sure I will experience more problems the longer I have it. So expensive for a faulty watch, shame on Apple ruined my Christmas & Birthday present 😢
I was charging from a power bar and only caused apple watch to get hot and not chsrge after 4 hours
But the important part you said was charged from the wall and that made the difference

Mine was showing the red snake of doom, but by plugging it directly into the wall, I finally got a green snake!!! Finger's crossed that it will now take a charge. Thank you for the very specific instructions--best instruction video on this and I've watched about a dozen!

Thanks for the video! My Apple watch series 6 had the green snake of death and would not charge after days on my charger. I did what you said...just let it die. Now I do have to admit, it took almost a week to completely go black and not show anything! I put it on a charger and connected it a wall outlet and IT STARTED CHARGING AGAIN!! THANKS!!

Same here. Three days ago i bought a series 6 and had that screen for 20 minutes. How long was yours stuck on that screen before turning on?
Didn't work for me after that, so I froze the watch for 5 hours inside a bag to protect it. Then I put it on charge normally, and the Apple logo appeared. I noticed it was getting hot, so I used a power bank and put the watch charging inside the fridge. I did this 3 days ago, and it's still working. I should mention that the battery even lasts longer now. After that, I charged the watch normally, not in the fridge. It's not a usual fix, but it worked for me

Greetings from the Philippines!!! This happened to my Apple watch last Monday night. But I took your advice and waited for the battery to fully discharge (fully drained Saturday afternoon). Charged it from a wall outlet and it is now working! Woohoo!!! Thank you very much 🙏

@@KenandDawn Hi! Yes po, after it was fully drained (took 4 1/2 days in my case), as soon as there was a sign that the watch was charging (around 30-45mins after), I pressed the crown and power button until the apple logo appeared then I left it to charge for 10 hours.

@@KenandDawn Dapat Sir dead yung battery, kahit i-click po yung power, wala na kahit yung red snake. Pagkasaksak po sa wall outlet (use an adaptor po, pwede yung sa phone charger), pag bumalik na po sa usual charging screen, press crown and power sabay hanggang lumitaw ang apple logo. Tapos hayaan nyo lang po naka-charge for 8-10 hours

Ive bought an apple watch 6 brand new and the snake of death was there for 15-20 min… the battery health reads 100%. I hope the battery is ok….
I had two issues with the screen going completely black but with watch on as I could hear it chiming and also showing this snake, I first try the steps that I found on this black screen issue despite of the watch being on, but did not work. After depleting the battery it came back to life when charging it again.
Hope this helps some people, I had an Apple Watch SE with the snake of death logo, I was pressing / spamming both buttons to try and make the watch die.. after a few mins the apple logo appears and my watch was fixed
It took me 2 weeks to completelly drain the new battery. Yes, I put a new iFixit battery and forgot to follow they recommandations to drain it under 10% BEFORE charging it.

I haven’t been able to use my watch for years. When I go to charge it it shows the apple icon for a few seconds and it goes away.. it comes back every so often but it doesnt stay.. it doesn’t turn on. I tried to reset it by pushing tge two buttons at the same time and it didnt work. I tried the solution on this video and nothing. What else can you recommend to do ?

I recommend if you have the red snake to keep clicking until the watch is drained took me 2 hours and then charge it
My batery was drain to 0 and nothing apear when i press on the buttons , i put it on the charger and green snake apears. Is this the right way or not

Just to help anyone out if they have this issue. Yes it does just leave it a couple house and worked again
Found a easier way. Just leave it on the charger even with the snake of death. Push and hold both buttons at the same time for like 5-10seconds, while it’s on the charger and it will bring up the apple sign and come back on. Takes like a min to fully turn on but it works and you don’t have to wait for it to go completely dead before you do all of the stuff you are saying.

Hey it worked for me😊,but with one more step ,switch off the charging portal, after these steps,you can see the apple sign coming up

If that doesn’t work (because sadly it didn’t for me) try a different charger.
I used the USB charger and the charging snake came up. When I used the USB C charger it charged straight away.

It needed that extra juice since I haven’t charged for 1.5 years cuz I couldn’t find it during the move! OMG- I was about lose hope cuz I kept on getting the red snake and then green snake but would not charge! I did the force start but nothing.. I didn't touch my watch for a coupe of weeks, then I charged it a full day and I get a green snake of death when it's charging and I try to turn it on. If I unplug it and try to turn it on I get a red snake of death. Are you telling me, after I charged it a full day, that I have to leave it alone for a couple of days again??? --________-- This shouldn't happen on such an expensive watch.
Mine had no snake of death. Put it on a standup charger and got a red snake. Then turned to green. Leaving it on and hope it fixes it.

I just got a brand new Apple series 6 watch fresh out of the box and it showing that symbol. I just spent $358. Pissed is an understatement. And I got it from target, not Apple. I still have the receipt

Their is one more thing you can do to fix it, put the watch in dfu mode (3sec both button, let go side "power button" while keeping digital for an other 10sec) and let it charge from the wall in that mode. Thats how i saved my applewatch serie 6
