  • Intuitive watercolour painting and art prints and artist inspiration.
In this video I "embellish" my fine art prints with acrylic paint and other supplies to highlight certain areas of the piece that I love and want to accentuate. I show you a sample pack of print materials from a company called Pictorum. I wanted to compare the quality of the print samples to my current art prints and consider future options.
I demo a relaxing art therapy exercise by painting shapes with my watercolour brush and "Beam" paint palette. My watercolour coil notebook is by CansonXL ,Mixed Media, 98 and 140 lbs. I use a Princeton round number 12 watercolour brush for most of the video.
I show a page from Kirsten Sevig's watercolour book "Striped Pears and Polka Dots". I was inspired by her page where she wrote that she liked to "make up " plants.
    Printing company mentions:
Local printer from Calgary Alberta Canada is Ken Chow, at
    artmagik.ca/
Sample print package $15 CAD from "Pictorem" at
    www.pictorem.com/
Foam core/packing supplies: Mat Shop Canada at
    matshop.ca/
    Art Supplies mentioned:
    Beam Paints (wood palette):

Posca acrylic paint pen in bronze medium tip.
Ranger "enamel accents" white puffy paint in "Glacier White".
Gold Uniball Signo pen for highlights.
Masterson's Stay Wet Palette to hold acrylic paints
I show a card from my "Art Poetry" for Insights and Inspiration art deck, at

I also pick a card from Adrienne Vita's oracle deck called "Love and Magic" at

Allison, your vulnerability and transparency are so appealing! Your willingness to reveal your processes whether you’re pleased with the result or not, helps the perfectionist in me to let go! Really appreciate your frequent and unedited videos.

Allison, your embellished art prints are truly amazing. I am still mesmerized by each one that I have! I was behind watching your videos but I've had a chance to catch up now and I'm planning to go through them all again and paint along with you! With the heavy snow we are expecting here in Calgary it will be perfect timing to stay in and paint!

Hi, I’m curious when did you paint the picture of the “let it go “ girl? I’ve been watching your videos from the beginning and I don’t recall seeing her before. When you’re not making videos, which I’m sure takes a huge amount of time, are you making paintings? Of course I know of your card deck. The girl picture looks so detailed and seems to have taken a long time to complete. You mentioned previously how you love Jane Davenport’s work and couldn’t ever match hers. I think you def. have with your girl! I love it! In your beginning videos you used to actually create an almost finished painting as we watched and now it seems in recent videos you’ve become an instructor. Is this what we will experience watching from now on? Thank you

Hi again! I painted "That's All That Matters" (girl with "let it go" necklace), with a series I'd painted a few years ago. The collection is on my website at www.allisondawrant.com. I haven't been on youtube even a year yet.. it will be one year next month, I believe... And I do most of my painting off camera... Thanks for watching and your encouragement.

Are these exercises for you to maybe find some shapes to drop into your art? Your art seems to be very deep for you, and I’m just trying to understand. I am trying to understand me as an artist, too.
I began my journey in 2018, and I am self taught, except for YT videos. I do it for fun and to be creative. I have always been creative. But mixed media art turned a switch on inside me that’s never been on until 2018.
Was this a lesson in play or what were your intentions in making those marks? I hope I make sense. ❤️
You said the word interpretation. That’s it. I do not have an interpretation of my art. I just do it.
