When I was trying to use the brush tool, no matter what color I had in the foreground color, the brush painted like a rainbow leaving a colorful trail. changing random colors. Each click of the mouse painted a different color. I did what you said and the problem has gone. Thank you so much!

My rectangular marquee tool was making rounded selections. I got depressed that I might have to uninstall my photoshop! But luckily I found this video!! Now the problem is fixed! Thanks brother🙏
Some of my Crtl+ functions stopped working, simply moving the pref-file fixed it in a heartbeat ! Thanks a lot for this fix + all your other great content !
@Swiftey Did you make sure to close photoshop first and did you delete the right one? For example, I currently have photoshop 2021 and 2020 installed, so I could by mistake have moved the preference file from the 2020, but that would not have affected photoshop 2021. Worst case you may have to reinstall but that may delete all your settings and customizations in photoshop :/
Okay, I've had this problem in which my metadata (copyright) information under "File Info" would not transfer to my asset during exporting. I've had this issue for several months and could not even find help in Adobe's Photoshop Community. I watch many of your videos and when I decided to type in, "Photoshop won't add metadata to my asset" in the RUclips search box, your video was one of the first ones to pop up. I tried your method of moving my Preferences folder (it was under different folders once I actually clicked on the Adobe folder, but I found it and moved it to my desktop). Long story, short: THIS TOTALLY WORKED!!! I can FINALLY put copyright info into my assets again, like I used to be able to do, prior to when it stopped working! THANK YOU SO MIUCH!!!! And thank you for all of your videos. I've learned a lot watching them!

As I run automate batch Custom action made by me It work for once but thén chenges back to original file extension while saving। Simple open crop then save as jpeg is my action

The program error kept popping up every time I click on a color, which is 90% of my workflow. This worked, thank you! I am hoping that it stays like that and it's not temporary though.

when I'm using polygonal lasso tool, then I hit ctrl + or ctrl - to magnify the image, then the lasso didn't work, I can't continue to lasso the image again. until I hit ESC it will be close.

Lolzxz Dear you saved my laptop from breaking apart from frustration. My two year’s old daughter pressed some random keys of laptop while Photoshop was open when I was looking away and after that it was literally behaving weird. Line tool change to arrow, blur tool wasn’t visually able though showing the effects and many more issues were there. Uninstalled and re-installed twice but issues were still there. Just a quick message to say a massive thankyou for posting this tutorial .. and helping to solve my problem. I am using Photoshop 2022 and for a while it worked very well .. then the problems started ... either the program would crash whilst loading ( giving an error code ) or the program would crash whilst loading an image ( giving a graphic card error). I had no idea about this preference folder and its function .. but now thanks to you my problem is sorted. In the Preference/Performance i managed to reduce the allocated space, disable the advanced graphics accelerator and click the checkbox that prompts photoshop to delete the stored preferential settings when i exit the program. I have run the program a couple of times since making the changes and it works like a dream .. no problems whatsoever .. and its all thanks to your easy to follow and easy to understand tutorial .. Many thanks for your fantastic help :)

Unmesh, thanks lot for this specific video. I was trying 'path blur' in CC2021. Why didn't know, after opting the path blur, the pointer arrow was not appearing at all, though the curser pin was appearing. Tried many ways , resetting essentials etc. etc. and so on, but didn't worked. Got tired and irritated. Finally found your this video resetting preferences. Opted and followed 1st method, and it worked at first attempt only. Hats off to you. Thank you once again.
For those who audio not working, ended up here too, and no one helping. Hold Alt- then click on the play button. Idk what black magic is in this software. But it works...

I want to thank you for this VERY helpful fix. Out of nowhere my CS5 suite slowed down to glacial speed. And I am right in the middle of some Adobe projects. I even considered ditching my installed version to ope for the subscription service as I knew I couldn't continue using "my" PhotoShop as it was running. Then Shazzam! Thank you! Using a paint brush on my layer mask was not working. It would paint with a chunky white stroke, the disappear as if no edits were made to the image. This solved the problem!
