There are several reasons why it can be more expensive to fly within Africa compared to flying from Africa to Europe and then to another African destination. One reason is that there is less competition among airlines within Africa, which means that prices can be higher. Additionally, infrastructure and safety standards for airports and air traffic control systems in some parts of Africa may not be as developed as in Europe, leading to higher operating costs for airlines. Furthermore, Africa has a large portion of less developed countries and less purchasing power of people may also lead to less demand for air travel, resulting in fewer flights and higher prices. Lastly, taxes and fees imposed by governments on domestic flights can also be a factor in the higher cost of flying within Africa. I'm a brother from U.S. who is living here permanently with no intention or returning to that place. I've got wonderful options and I'm exercising them to the max!
Yeah youre right! I just wish that there were more incentives to increase travel across the continent, I really think if africans were encouraged to travel within Africa they would. There is a lot of beauty and rich culture on the continent and in my opinion a lot more interesting culture and history than in the west.
Your so right about the security. I feel like the previous terror attacks have made Kenyans hyper cautious, but it’s better to do it so your safe than to not. So although it’s a hassle sometimes, it ensures safety
Yes I see that, it’s great to see everyone comply and understand that the measures are for the safety of everyone. I can’t imagine a lot of other countries complying that way, it’s great to see the unity of Kenyans, something that really stood out to me
Yayyy you're vibes on vibes. Looking forward to seeing you again (and again) here 🇰🇪. I already knew that you're coming back lol...I heard you say you'd like to go to Lamu -- a place I've visited _many_ times but unfortunately isn't where it was 10 years ago ("development" happened and there are quite a few motorbikes now, but still a single car in the whole archipelago of islands). If you can afford to stay at Sankara (where one of my fav cousins works), you should probably consider a night at the Mount Kenya Safari club lol. Take a look at the photos -- it's a super beautiful place. They have a wildlife sanctuary (with leopards, buffalo etc) right within the hotel grounds, and a national park next door. I'll upload videos from when I treated my siblings to a stay there this week. I hear you on air quality in Nairobi. It isn't the best, but better than Lagos where I didn't enjoy jogging outdoors to be honest. Now the air at Mt Kenya Safari club is _heavenly_ . Sankara was independently owned by locals, then became a franchisee of the Marriot brand in 2019. Let us know in a video when your travel schedule firms up, and I'll write up my recommendation of places to see.
The airport security (having to leave the vehicle etc) has a lot to do with direct flights to the US, which were launched in 2018. They made us jump a lot of hoops to get the certification

With the Uber prices i understand them because gas went super high but their company (Uber) did not adjust the rates so it's somehow unfair to the drivers because once Uber take their percentage the driver is left with almost nothing. The good thing is the driver will let you know before you board and if you can't you can just cancel no problem.

You mean in Ghana bolt and Uber has the same challenges as Kenya? I've never experienced that in Ghana, in Ghana the charge the same as the said price of the app
I was saying it’s completely different in Diani than everywhere else (including ghana). Only in Diani do they change the price from what is displayed on the app but that price is the same no matter where you go(Uber, bolt, tuktuk, taxi). They have all come together to dictate the cost to destinations in the city which is really outstanding and shows unity I’ve never seen before

Nice move! Whenever your Uber app shows one price and your driver calls and tells you a different price, just cancel it and look for an alternative ride. For me, it's a matter of principle. If it's not done in Uber's country of origin, then there's no reason it should be done elsewhere around the world. It's about not giving in to a scam. And aways remember that your accent is considered that of a walking 🏧 or cash register😂
The reason is because our country has faced terrorist attacks, American embassy, Westgate mall, and that has led to enhanced security checks especially in the airports, malls and office buildings, but it good for everyone as it guarantees security, apart from that there is the drug problem, security to stop entry of illegal drugs into the country. 😮

Nonsense, the standard of living in both countries is around the same...
@@mresoterick3928 standard no, but cost of living might be the same
Do you think the infrastructure is the same though?
What do you think the biggest differences are?

Karibu tena 😎

You said Nairobi Airport. Which airport is that? I only know of Jomo Kenyatta Airport and Wilson Airport 🥴
Sorry I meant the Jomo Kenyatta airport

That's it, am moving to Ghana...
Haha thanks for the compliment
😂😂 she's beautiful. She may be Ghanian but that accent is not typical Ghanian accent. Before you fall in love check balance on your bank account 😂
