    • @benN8835
      @benN8835 15 дней назад +1

      @bellaolum9768 County governments are independent of the national government. The governors report or are accountable to county assemblies and the Senate. Not the president. I am sure you have seen cases of governors criticising the president openly in the past. Good example is Joho vs Uhuruto. If they were reporting to the president, the president could have removed them

    • @jamesokoth6655

      @@benN8835Very true, infact governors report to county assemblies but most importantly it's the Senate that regulates and interrogate their work

    • @alexchui3511
      @alexchui3511 14 дней назад

      @@bellaolum9768 Governors don't report to the President, in fact they are like mini-presidents and are answerable to Kenyans and more directly to the county assemblies and citizens of their counties. That's why MCA's impeach governors. Other than security and education most functions are devolved but governors are responsible for kindergarten education as well. County governments coordinate with national government on functions that overlap like sharing of revenues. Of course the president is the president of all Kenyans including governors.

    Nigerians tend to believe that a capital city has some special significance, where as for Kenyans it is just the city where the government is head quartered.
    Even if all the government functions are moved to another part of Kenya, Nairobi will still remain the dominant city for business.
    The 47 counties were the original 42 districts that were set up by the colonial government for administration.
    Machakos was the first capital of Kenya before it was moved because the weather was milder in Nairobi.

    Nairobi was originally before 2010, an extra-provincial district. There were seven provinces with Nairobi as the eighth, though it was an independent district, and as a city, it had a Mayor. In 2010, the mayors or Mombasa and Nairobi became Governors. Another thing to note is that governors do not report to the president, and county governments do not report to the national government. There are 48 governments, 47 county and 1 national. The system is not federal, but devolved, just like the UK.

      you mean those thugs that bully people on the road? we should embrace modern systems of transport. a city like this has no metro rails, light rails, BRTs, etc. Nairobi is horrible in the morning and evening when commuting. I wish i could hop onto a 7.30am electric train along thika Road and 10 mins later am in the office.

    Kenya has 48 independent governments, one National government and 47 county governments.
    The county goverments have specific roles that are fully devolved to their mandate e.g Health, Business control and licencing,Urban planning and licencing, Agriculture etc wherous the National government retained more roles of National impotance and general but mostly regulatory e.g Security, Tourism, Affirmative action, Food security, Agriculture, Immigration,etc. Much as the counties collect their own revenues, they're also given some equalization funds by national Treasury to boost their operations.

    The roof you are talking about is part of Sheria House, generally part of the AG's offices. And that is one of waiting/ banking hall with skylight roofs.
    And you guys are not accurate about the Governance Structure.
    Devolved system isn't Federal...
    But even the Nigerian one is more of a Devolved than a truly Federal.

    Kikuyus are the ones who run the country not Indians. Though we also have some very wealthy Indians. But when it comes to land and asset share it goes to Kikuyis and other tribes. Remember Indians are onekf the tribes in Kenya. They fought for independence alongdide other Kenyans like the legendary Pio Gama Pinto
