Im torn between a 640xgc and a 650xgc; performance, reliability, & sound is the defining factor! I’ve been told v8’s post 2013 were made significantly more reliable. With the tune on your 640, how’s the reliability been?
I know your comment is like half a year old, but to inject some knowledge where I've got it, while the N63TU (starting in 2012) got a MYRIAD of improvements that made it a much more reliable engine, the N55 is still likely a more reliable platform, especially in the later variations. Can't beat that V8TT performance & sound though.
So all I need is the mhd adapter to go stage 1 if I’m all stock? Like a plug and play? And where did you get the bmw battery charger? Is it really recommended??
@@rnrmotorsports and you keep the adapter plugged in while your driving and everything? When you take it off does the car go back to factory stock settings? Sorry for all the questions I just got one otw and was curious what all you can do etc
@@rnrmotorsports so I just went and test drove a 2015 640i and I've never driven one before. It was zippier than I expected. I was convinced that with the size of the car I would think it was too slow with the n55 but I don't want to mess with the 650i and all of the problems I've heard about with that engine. My question is, is there a way to tell if this one was stock or has a tune on it? When I put it in sport mode, the digital dash shows 320hp as the max. Would that change with a tune on it? Thanks!
@@kos.2457 my thoughts exactly compared to a v8 twin turbo it’s that power that gets u hooked but u best be ready to spend $ if it wasn’t maintained well it just for future preventative maintenance
@@pjefsquad I went with stage2 JB4, Catless DP, Charge pipe, BMS intake, and 650i exhaust. Installing blowoff valve soon. But im overall happy. Not quite the speed of a 650i, but i'll take the gusto with reliable engine. I dont need to be worrying about oil burn and $10k+ engine bills, lol
with MHD you can get access to stage 0 up to Hybrid turbo maps for 330$ and you can adjust the burble settings from your iPhone. Seems like a better deal to me

@@adsession8262 no you only need to use the adapter one time to flash it. if you want to go back to stock you have to flash back to stock
Looking at buying a 2015 640xi. Does the MHD tune add horsepower also, or is it just adding exhaust settings? Thanks
it does both lol

Good stuff ! Can’t wait to do mhd on my F13 640i 😏 but going stage 1 of course since I’m all stock , good info and thanks for the diy
Such a nice F06. I’m so torn between a 640 and 650 6 cylinder vs 8 cylinder.
The 640 reliability will thank your wallet.

if you want the 8 cylinder go for the M6, s63 > n63
@@rnrmotorsports and I think S63 is more reliable than N63
Sounds so good I done the same with my m135i but I set it to long, in tunnels it's amazing
going to switch mine to long today & drop an update!
how do you get the overrun brap setting on mhd??
only on F-series n55 bro
@@rnrmotorsports so not on the 1 series?😕
Gasss😮
Im too cheap i paid £160 for stage 1 tune on my 640i GC lci. Plenty of mobile guys about.

@@rnrmotorsports yes cant compare to the customisation you have with mhd and ability to remove/install whenever you want.
