    **In the closing remarks of this video Pierce mentions that the bike can be modified to class 3 speeds. Rad Power Bikes does not recommend altering the settings as the bike is intended for class 2 use. **
    The RadRunner Plus is a Class 2 electric bike from Rad Power Bikes. The "Plus" version of this bike comes with upgraded parts/accessories standard such as:
    - 7-speed drivetrain instead of a single speed
    - Passenger package standard
    - 80mm Suspension fork
    - Upgraded LED Halolight with rock guard
    - Fenders standard
    - Full LCD display
    The RadRunner Plus has proven itself to be quite the utility bike because of its modular accessories and versatile design. This Rad Power Bikes RadRunner Plus review showed us how the small details can add up to make a big difference.
    The RadRunner Plus comes with a 750W motor, 48V, 14Ah battery and five total pedal assist settings. Between the motors capability, the battery range and the adjustment of assistance the RadRunner Plus can ride however you want it to. Additional components such as the 80mm suspension fork add lots of performance benefits and overall capability to the bike.
    Our team was quite impressed with the RadRunner Plus as a whole, it feels like a bike that can easily mold to multiple lifestyles. It's an e-bike that you can commute on, go to the grocery store with or simply buzz around town on.
    At the end of the day how you use the RadRunner Plus is up to you, and regardless of how you ride we think you’ll find the RadRunner Plus brings a lot to the table. Thanks for watching, enjoy!

    I've had my RadRunnerPLUS for about 8 months and I've gotten rid of my other bikes. This thing is a go anywhere-do pretty much anything bike. I do trail riding, road riding, urban touring...I mean, this is one capable eBike. I've climbed hills, ran through flooded trails, lots of off road riding in dirt, sand, mud, gravel...it's really like a small motorcycle more so than a bicycle. I can't recommend it enough. It's not cheap...but it's also built like a tank and I've had ZERO issues with mine. Super easy to adjust and maintain. GET ONE ALREADY!!!!

    I really love the moped-style e-bikes, but haven’t come across one where it’s optimized for my wants & needs yet.I know I’ll have to pay more for it, but I’d love to have a bike that looks like the RadRunner Plus, but has an Enviolo internal hub w/ a Gates carbon belt drive.

      I have a commute up a hill like the hell hole hill and that is indeed the same setup i want despite this Rad Runner being mostly able. Something that can do that run with 50% battery in minus thirty degree temps and fat tires for snow... This looks really good though until that "perfect" option is available.

    I purchased the Rad Runner Plus as a Xmas present for my son. I got a $100 off the $1899.99, to $1799.99, also got 1 of the accessories for 50% off, so I got a great deal. He's visiting my mom during Xmas, and the bike is still in the box. Lol. But we did test ride it twice at Rad Power Bikes here in San Diego, and it's so much fun. Comes with all the bells and whistles

    Pierce, Nice detail, appreciate all of the testing data. I just purchased a RadRunner + myself and I'll be reviewing it as well. I'm impressed with the build generally but I did not get anywhere near that insane low PAS range, WOW! I am finding the passenger capability a bit overblown as the few people I have tried riding with, felt the room and footpegs were really awkward and wanted off in a few blocks. A rear pannier rail would be a welcome feature. I also got the center console, which I think was a bit of a mistake as I will be taking it off today. Cheers!

    • @MoPoppins
      @MoPoppins 2 года назад

      What’d you dislike about the center console?

    • @ElectronSurfer
      @ElectronSurfer 2 года назад +1

      @@MoPoppins Sorry for my delay, the comments on another channel always come up differently. The two holders on top of the console don't fit many phones or cups, and the bungies to hold the lid on are tough to use, especially the one under the seat. The biggest issue is I can barely stand over the console with a 32" inseam, so if you had a passenger and the console, it could be an issue. Interior size is just ok. If I kept it on the bike I'd use it with the lid off. I think the front basket would be a better option.

    I own the Radrunner 1 and its definitely weak on power. I had to upgrade my controller to a 35A version and that made all the difference. I went from 750W to 1600W! Now I can make it up most hills with a passenger on throttle only. My bike is a single speed though. Nicely done video, I appreciate the high production value.

    Do not forget to mention that in Europe this bike only has a 250 Watt Motor instead of in The USA which is 750 Watt .. personally i would use pedal assist when going up those hills. You can hear the strain on the motor when your just using the throttle .. To keep the motor healthy surely it is better to apply a little pedal assist to ease the strain on the motor .

    The thing is, that isn’t a 750W motor, it’s a 500W. Thats why it struggled so hard. A real 750W motor would peak out over 1000W at max.

    • @ElectricBikeReport
      @ElectricBikeReport  2 года назад +2

      It is 750W U.S. Spec. There is a 500W and 250W spec sold in Canada and Europe respectively.

    • @Benjamin_Jehne
      @Benjamin_Jehne 2 года назад +8

      @@ElectricBikeReport RadPowerbikes is known to put this 750W label on 500W motors. The 500W and the 750W have the same housing. Other testers (US) show how they upgraded the 500W motor to 750W by replacing the internals + controller. If a 750W motor shows 750W at it's max, it's not a 750W motor, the peak is always way higher and other bikes with real 750W motors are showing this.
      The problem with these motors is, that you just have to put a label on the motor and make them what you want them to be. Here in Europe the bikes are equipped with the same motors, just with a 250W label.
      Manufactuer say that in average the motor is under these 250W, so they can claim it with a rated continuous output of 250W. When you look at the peak performances then you see, what they really are.

Without my help, the bike stops dead in its tracks. RAD needs to either upgrade the motor to 1000 + watts or add a second battery and a front hub motor bringing total wattage up to 1,500 watts. Now you could easily take two people along for the ride.

      I found the Rad seat provided to be uncomfortable. I replaced the drivers seat and post. I then removed the passenger bench seat, laid in a few pieces of foam pipe insulation to protect the frame and secured a milk case to the rear with medium duty wire ties. Make sure the milk case is moved to the rear somewhat to allow clearance for your backside. I then installed the Rad metal front basket and covered it with motorcycle stretch mesh cargo cover that has perimeter hooks to secure the groceries. After the cargo mods the darn thing holds much more then my Harleys leather saddlebags. Why remove all that Rad + hardware rather than just buy the stripped down Runner? The Rad Plus front suspension and multi speed pedal option, that’s why.

    We purchased this Vivi 27.5” electric bike and a Tentaquil 26” electric bike for our 13 and 14 year olds. ruclips.net/user/postUgkxUiL0GnyDjP32RJdd660sP8mZk4CRLTCJ The Vivi was much easier to put together. With the Vivi, there was a video link to assist with assembly which made the process easier to follow (we did put the handlebars on upside down, but it was a quick and easy fix). With the Tentaquil, the assembly was not as simple to follow, but after we messaged the company for an assembly video, it was easier and they did respond quickly. The other major differences were that the Vivi has a grip throttle on the right handle (like a motorcycle) and the Tentaquil has a push throttle that you use your thumb to activate. The monitors were also different, so if you’re looking for something specific in terms of changing the bikes functions, pay attention to what the monitor offers. We were really impressed with the overall quality and functionality of both bikes, but if you’re looking for more power and an easier assembly, definitely go with the Vivi!

      Right? I feel like it could handle more weight.
      It's likely the bike can handle a slightly higher weight than what they say is the weight limit to avoid legal trouble.
      I wouldn't be shocked if it can actually handle 325lbs. Though, inevitably, that's more strain on the bike, less safe, and will hurt performance. Do it at your own risk. But considering your below their weight limit, I don't think it's a huge risk.

      @@Elisplushies360woodierc, I took my Rad Runner 1 to the Red Rock Overlook, from my house (Charleston and Cimmaron), a few weeks ago. I have the upgraded display and 35A controller, it makes a huge difference in torque! I like to pedal, and the highest assist level I used was PAS-3. The Runner 1 is a single speed. I installed a 2nd battery (48v 12AH), I used that one for the trip, but had my RAD battery on the bike too.
      I only needed the smaller 12AH battery for the round trip. I just bought a older Rad Rover a couple days ago, I plan on getting the upgraded display and controller for it at some point too; but it’s pretty fun as it is! I’m about 235lbs. I’ve done the 13 mile loop on my Bafang 48v 750w mid drive equipped bike a few times, I’ve had over 80% battery life left using PAS 2-3!

      @@tripzuki7462 👍🏼 the red rock loop is a nice enjoyable ride.I’ve done it twice on my lectric xp. I usually park past the entrance up a little further at the overlook. Then ride back to the entrance and through the loop. After the ride and back to my car my battery reads 48-49 volts which on my lectric is about 40-45% battery left. I once rode from my house in centennial hills to the first lodge at mt.Charleston.It was a steady uphill grade the whole ride and about 18 miles and I was in pas 2 for most of the ride up to conserve battery but then switched to pas 3 maybe for 2 or 3 miles because it was taking so long.On the way back it was all down hill so i didn’t use any power at all except when I was heading my up hill ride to my house.It was about a 38 mile ride and about 2 1/2 hours long. My battery was dead when I pulled into my drive way. Forgot to say I weighed then 175 lbs.

    To be honest, I am very disappointed in Rad Power Bikes. I had been planning to buy these bikes for a very long time. I also called yesterday, and spoke to your sales rep, who said that you guys won’t even ship parts out here to Hawaii. Do you realize that we are part of the United States too? I understand that there are restrictions on lithium ion batteries, I get that. But you can’t even ship parts here if I did have one? Maybe there needs to be a way to ship the bike, and parts and then send the Lithium iOn batteries via surface separately. I went down to my local bike shop and dropped $12k on 4 Giant E Bikes instead because they actually wanted my business. Rad Power Bikes, pull your head out of the sand and realize that Alaska and Hawaii exist too. Maybe it's time for us to stop doing business with Washington residents too. I am pissed off. Aloha

    All of Rad ebikes are are shitty with mechanical brakes. I’ll rather get an Ariel Grizzly with dual 52V batteries, suspension, and 1000W motors that peaks at 2000W. Not to mention that the Grizzly has metal gears ⚙️ The Grizzly is just a different kind of animal on a higher level as far as ebikes. Rad is a junk company.
