      I watched video again. I just started ebikes 2 months ago. I bought the affordable nakto pony because I had a problem with the interest charge on the radrunner 1. Its affirm credit and on the radrunner site it was +$600. On the affirm site there was no interest. So this backed me up and kicked off my thrift button😳. After 150 miles on my little pony I now want a commuter which will get me over some difficult terrain. Highways unfortunately involved. No bike lanes here. So i need robust dependable performance. I love the 6! My pony is great for groceries and around a rural town. But to get out of here- I need more. Lotsa ebikes and price points. But product support and reliability are issues to consider. After endless debate I have decided on the 6 as a final purchase. No juiced- strong contended but small tires, no super 73- appears endlessly expensive and no ariel- dont like the look. I think the size, power and range of the 6 just edge out the competition for me. Also its a good looking bike and i do like the inlaid battery. Please remember to consider your riding ability. I was a los angeles bike commuter. I consider myself to have advanced riding skills. Keep that in mind when riding and selecting a bike. Easy does it and happy trails😎🍉🦸🏽.

    I’ve had the RR6+ since 2021 and still love it. The first 2 years were problem free - only had to change break pads - normal. But in this last year, the motor hub had problems that I couldn’t repair and I had to buy a replacement rear wheel motor hub assembly that cost me 500 dollars Canadian. A few months later, the controller wasn’t working and I had to purchase a new one for 200 dollars. I’ve also had to buy tires. So now it’s practically a brand new bike! I’m back to having fun riding every other day. It is a very fun bike. And it was worth fixing it. I’m lucky that I have the skills to install the replacement parts.

    Fantastic review as always Pierce. I've finally made my choice to go with the RadRover 6. It was between this and the Aventon Adventure. It came down to two things: 1) Rad has a superior reputation for customer support, and 2) without being able to test ride these bikes, this review assured me that the RadRover 6 has the smooth throttle control as well as a well-tuned pedal assist system that I need my eBikes to have. Delays in power drive me batty! I've read complaints about so many fat tire eBikes that have throttle delays and pedal assist delays. I was worried. But you covered that in your review, and I feel like I can't go wrong with the RadRover 6. Thanks a million.

    great test of the bike's power. I have a Radrunner 1 and with the hills in Portland and its single speed gearing, I found it would stall on steep hills. I had a child passenger and some supplies so about 225LB load. I converted it to a 35AMP controller and now the bike is totally useable on hills. Not sure how long my motor and battery will hold up, but so far so good at about 1000 miles. I have reduced the max wattage output from 1600W to 1200W to help keep the motor and battery cooler. What I've learned from these Rad bikes is that unless your total load is under 150LBS, you really need at least 1000W if you have any sort of incline to deal with. I think for the price they are charging, they should have made it at least 1000W.

What has most impressed me with the Rad compared to other ebikes that I have ridden is the seamless integration of all the parts and the attention to detail into a smooth and fun riding machine. How many ebikes in any price range come with a working brake light? It’s attention to the little things as well as the big. Great company, great bike!

    I bought these bikes last November and it has been a total nightmare. Customer service has been responsive in the fact that they have given me a couple of laundry lists of things to do in order to fix the problem I have (bike won't power up), none of which have worked. They have sent me a couple of parts to swap out but that hasn't fixed it either. I know it's a product issue and not an assembly matter. I took the bike in the box to my local bike shop for assembly since I didn't want any issues and thought a pro would be the best way to go. I purchased 2 of these bikes and although one has worked perfectly, one hasn't been able to be fixed. Over three months in and I have yet to be able to ride this thing. Very disappointed! I purchased these bikes and the Hollywood rack for my motorhome to use while on vacation so we wouldn't have to have a car. That would have been a good plan had it worked.

      I have a 2016 Radrover and it was recommended to limited power to 500 watts or less for hills. It also stated not to climb hills +15% grade. Not sure if Rad upgraded the plastic gear or improved the cooling with the newest versions? You might be limited to the lower gears, keeping your mph in the single/low double digits, and using PAS 2-3 for really steep hills. You might overheat the hub motor or damage the plastic gears if you don't.

    So, I live 3 miles from the beach. I want something that can zip to the beach, and that I can use as a bike to get exercize, but I also want something that looks bad ass. Also something that can zip across the sand to get to the ocean if i want to swim, and can handle hills, and the occasional patch of sand. Some friends say a thin tire option is better since I'll be spending so much time on pavement, but I LOVE the wide tires and the stability they bring. There are some big hills here. I just wish it could go a little faster than 20 mph. I'm torn, but I'm leaning toward the rad rover 6. The more dirtbike style bikes also have that long comfrotable banana seat, but I have seen you can even get that on the rad if you wanted.

    • @ElectricBikeReport
      @ElectricBikeReport  3 года назад +1

      Yeah if the seat isn't your thing that's one of the easier things to swap out. Some people are sad to see it doesn't go above 20 mph which we totally get. We're typically okay with just 20 mph though - depends on where you're riding it I suppose. We also like the wide tires for sand. Hope you enjoy whichever route you end up going with!

    • @SwanBaby10
      @SwanBaby10 3 года назад +1

      Ummm…some people remove the governor on bike or do some type of cadence mode for more speed. Even with fat tires i find that 19 mph is fast enough on 20 inch wheels. In theory more speed is compelling but these are small tires. You can crash on one of these… Because of small tires I am considering a kit for 26 inch wheels. I have a specialized hardrock that i would feel more comfortable with more speed. Id like a 750 watt with a 48v battery. That would do! Good luck. 🤞🏾

    In deciding between a RadRover 5 or the 6 plus, I never hear reviewers mention the advantage of a battery that's outside the frame. If a model with an inside-the-frame battery is discontinued (or if the company goes out of business), what do you do when you need a new battery? With an outside-the-frame battery, you can easily get a replacement somewhere else.

    • @ElectricBikeReport

      Fat tires are only a problem if you get caught mid-ride on a dead battery. The tires are harder to ride with when unassisted. In general though they are pretty comfortable and easy enough to maneuver on for most people so with the motor helping you out you'd be fine, and yes, fat tires are helpful for dirt and sandy terrain.

      I'm 6'3" and been riding my two 2016 radrovers since (+7500 miles total). I had to purchase bike stem adjustable riser, 420mm suspension seatpost from Kinect Bodyfloat, Cloud-9 cruiser seat (11X10), and larger pedals for my size 14 shoes. Very comfy with no knee pain from the 350mm seatpost or numb hand without the adjustable handlebar stem.

    My question would be, is RR putting in actual full-sized 750w motors or are they still putting in the same uprated small motors that they put into the RR5 and their other bikes. Because there is a distinct performance difference between those uprated motors and an actual Bafang 750w. I was all set to drop $2k on a 6+ when I came across the motor issue that many have reported with their RR5's. Would like to see someone pull the hub motor from the new 6+ to see what is actually in there.

    • @rspencerttc
      @rspencerttc 3 года назад +4

      Same. Was hoping for that answer too, however, he didn’t ding the motor for power like I have heard in other videos about the RR 5 so that was good to hear.

    • @2020Max1
      @2020Max1 3 года назад +5

      @@rspencerttc So here is the thing you can still get halfway decent power out of the uprated motors, but you'd do it with a higher tuned controller at the expense of range and battery life. If no one is willing to pull out the hub motor on the 6+, it would at least be beneficial to see a side by side performance comparison between the two.

      @2020Max1 your assumptions are correct. I own a 2017 RR and had a 2019 that I sold and got the 6+. Can confirm my 2017 has over 4k miles and is BY FAR noticeably faster on acceleration and even hitting and staying at top speed, even up hills. The battery dies die quicker, but it is also 6 years old with 4k miles on it! New RR 6+ is NOT the same and probably why it is $1,399 now, down from $2,000.

    I've been trying to find out if the Rad can be "unlocked" to be class 3 for a top speed of 28 mph with peddle assist. I was able to do that with my Ride1Up Series 500. I'm considering getting this during their Black Friday sale to replace my Ride1Up, but do not want to if I'm going to be limited to 20 mph.

      The gearing of the sprockets is set around 20-22 mph. Anything above that would require the throttle or "ghost pedaling" to engage the PAS for a higher speed. The biggest issues I found with my 2016 Radrover when riding down steep hills at 25-30 mph are the brakes. I had to upgrade my brakes to TRP Spyre because the Radrover brakes overheated and glazed over the pads at those speeds.

      Cadence sensor. electricbikereport.com/rad-power-bikes-radrover-6-review/ we have a circuit test you can look at here that gives an idea how much help the bike gives you in a given level of assist. Should be able to find a good level that lets you put as much work as you want into it.

    Bought 2 radrover 6 bikes, had less than a year with less than 50 miles and one battery failed. After contacting radbikes in emails and chats I went through quite a time consuming series of videos,pics, and numbers,dates and other questions. After many,many emails and finally saying my patience was at an end and how terrible it was to deal with their B.S. they finally sent a battery. The new battery did not work, back to the same run around except this time it was much worse until i told them i was going to utilize other avenues to show as many people as possible my story. I would NEVER recommend radbikes to anyone! Now in this day and age where e bikes are getting more popular i would suggest to only buy from a brick and mortar bike shop that will stand behind their product. Sorry Radbike you fall far short!

      The Rover 6 Plus just came out a few months ago so I'm not sure many reviewers will have encountered snow to test it in just yet. Once we get some snow nearby (not much makes it's way directly to Southern Utah) we'll definitely try and test this and other fat bikes out on the snow. Thanks for watching!
