Desmond from Rhapsodic by Laura Thalassa. Book 1 in The Bargainer trilogy. I love everything this author writes! 💗 And I just love Des' shadow/darkness powers ✨️✨️✨️
I’m surprised one I came across years ago before ACOTAR. Laura Thalassa has a really good series starting with Rhapsodic with a shadow daddy known as The Bargainer. I love the relationship between Des (Bargainer) and Calypso who is a siren. There are definitely elements of “don’t touch her or else” while also showing that he sees her as entirely capable of handling herself. Full disclosure: Calypso has a traumatic past that Des helps her cover up and get through with a balance of tough love and compassion/patience that made their love so much deeper in my opinion. The plot at first seems a little thready, but it all comes together slowly in a “good enough” kind of way and the boss fight was a little anticlimactic. That aside, I loved this series more for the characters than anything else. Lots of spice if that’s what you’re looking for.
Definitely some great recs! Belladonna is one of my favorites and Fourth Wing. I still need to read FBAA. And the Shadow and Bone series is so good! Still need to read King of Scars and Rule of Wolves before I watch the show.
I love az. He deserves more than Elaine. I also love Lucien. I want him to get his romance with Elaine. A double redemption arc. However I’m pretty sure she is going to put all the archeron sisters with the bat boys.
Scarlet the heroine from Lady of Darkness has shadow powers but in the follow on sequel (ROSAE - Legacy Series) Theon is your shadow daddy and definitely worth looking at. One of my favourites from '23.
Love me a shadow daddy!!! Though I do feel like I still don’t understand how that power works lolololol especially when shadows can like move physical objects 🤣 or like break people apart lol
I absolutely love North ❤🔥 As for Azriel, (ACOTAR SPOILER AHEAD) I'm pretty sure Gwyn is his mate. Even before they met, the way her personality was described made me instantly think of him

Yes about JLA!!!! She has gotten lost on the story I feel. The Hawk pov pissed me off at first since I didn't look into it not wanting spoilers so when I started it I almost gave up on her completely. Now I ended up liking it more but she has drawn out the tie in and poppy's arc too long.

Just read ‘feathers so vicious’ and another shadow daddy would be Malyr! But he’s crazy…. So of course I love it!!! ❤❤
