The fans are just latching onto any issue.. then when we get the free agent u want and he plays bad youre going to blame farhan. The giants as a whole have done a great job finding when guys are figuring their battign mechanics out and also finding franchise players... Just wait people.. these are rookies in our team. If we get a player we need someone who replaces someone worse. Not an expensive dude who doesnt care what city hes playing in
Snell still sits in mid 90s with ease, and touches high 90s when he wants to. He's tall and long and built to last. I would love a 7 year contract here like you have recommended. I think he has 3-5 elite years left in him and giving him a 7 year contract might be what is required to sign him. It's worth it. Plus he would be a perfect mentor for Kyle Harrison and hopefully develop him, giving us 2 stars at the same time
@@JumboJuneau Well he won the Cy Young award (best pitcher in baseball) in 2018, and now 2023 as well. Why can't he win a 3rd or 4th one if he's already done it twice?? Plus he's showing no signs of regression in the last 2 seasons (3.38/2.25). If anything he looks better than ever, and still throwing hard af
First thing they have to do is find out who would be interested to coming to the Giants. I don't worry about the walks, that can be fixed. The Giants are going to have to understand they are going to have to put out some money if they want a winning team. Stop playing this game going after who ever the top guy is, go out and get some players. I see in the news every day teams are making trades, so lets get it done or I'm done with the Giants and I've been a fan for over 60 years!
Yeah, I'm concerned about wasting money and years on Snell. The only way it would work, is some sort of easy opt out after 2/3 years, so they are not stuck with him into his mid/late-30s. There shouldn't be a rush or panic for 2024, as Gs can still be competitive, and the mission is long-term competitive, sustainable roster? Boring idea, but with the bubbling to the surface of recent draft talent, it's a critical time to take a deeper look at who they have on the farm, who shows up and performs at Spring Training, etc. They have the money when they find the right players, sign their own true young stars to extensions, etc. Snell feels like signing somebody for the sake of landing a big name. Would his personality even fit in with the Giants clubhouse? Is he chill, friendly, etc..?
I’m getting to the point where the Giants need to just sign at least 2 potential All Stars… the specifics are almost irrelevant, since the Giants could easily not sign anyone significant (besides Lee).
Not sure worth money but few choices unless go through trade market. Again worth it? I know DesClafani, Stripling, and Manaea aren't. Again CANT resign Manaea
My top priority this season is to have fun watching the games and complaining about Zaidi's incompetence. I have zero faith this organization is serious about winning because winning is expensive- and this team is 100% focused on being CHEAP.
Although I fear his contract could turn into another albatross like Zito and Cueto, I think it's worth the gamble this time around. Snell would be an ideal #2 and insurance if Harrison starts off slow. If they can't get him, Imanaga could be an option or they could look to bring back Manaea. Either way, the rotation could use a lot of help after what happened last season. As of right now, Webb is the only sure thing in the rotation at the moment. This would include Cobb, although he'll be out the first month of next season recovering from offseason surgery. After Cobb, it's hoping Desclafani and Stripling can return to their old form and Kyle Harrison and Keaton Winn continue to develop in the back of the rotation.
The Giants front office put the Giants in this spot. I say spend the money AND don't stop with him. They need another pitcher and a top bat, personally I say Rhys Hoskins
Don’t reward this guy with a huge contract for pitching well in a contract year. Once he signs on the dotted line he will stink it up and you all will blame Farhan.
I wouldnt sign him, why do all these contracts have to be long. The Giants ownership are thinking, even if we spend all this money. The talent is still not good enough against the dodgers and Braves Rangers etc.
I strongly believe a rotation of Webb, Snell, Harrison, Peralta and Winn/Beck/Cobb/Black/Teng really is good just have to sign Snell and Trade for Freddy Peralta. The 5th spot actually is fun to me too because all the Kids I am confident can eat those innings decently tell Cobb gets healthy. Cobb was the number 2 last year and an all star and in this case would be the 5th, definitely would love to see this. Is reality Peralta is 3 and when he’s got it he’s a 2 and Harrison can become an Ace so Snell only needs to be 3 anyways. Which is fine and you have a perfect balance of Righty and Lefity here. Almost forget to mention Wisenhunt who’s a lefty and coming too!
It doesn’t matter what their payroll is, signing him is a foolish business move because once he signs on the dotted line he will stink it up. Guaranteed. He pitched well due to him being in a contract year. Once he gets a long term deal that will take him into retirement he won’t give a fuck anymore. You’re better off trading for a young pitcher who isn’t 31 or bringing up someone from the farm system.
There's a lot of scrutiny on Snell, and I get why, but I feel like there's way more on him than others or than it should for some reason. The guy is a two time Cy Young winner, he's a dodger killer, he's 31, not 37, and he might have the same number of pitches on him that Yamamoto has ironically. Unless he asks for a ridiculous amount of money, just get him, don't trade our best prospects for a similar or worst pitcher cause it's cheaper for a year, just use the money. I would laugh (again) at Farhan if he doesn't give Snell 180/6 or 200/7 but he ends up giving 120/150 for 5/6 years to Chapman when we don't even need him.
Short answer, no, but the Giants have either him or Jordan Montgomery for a serious upgrade, rather have Snell, could also be good for a guy like Kyle Harrison
Chapman would be awful, guess you want the Longoria experience again. Schmitt is fine at 3B all the Chapman noise needs to die for real. As for Hoskins. Yes Farhan needs to get Hoskins. He can anchor 1B for a few years at 20ish doubles and 30 HRs a year tell Bryce Eldridge is ready to take over 1B. I also agree Snell is definitely needed for sure. Wade can go back to being a corner Outfielder since Hoskins would be a here. I’d rather have Wade be the bench lefty outfielder than Conforto. Conforto can be part of that Brewers trade. I personally don’t think it’s wise to get Burnes because he will cost a lot and Boras will take him to market regardless. I say the Brewers trade to be made is Freddy Peralta(27yrs old) two more years on control with club options, he’s a proven playoff pitcher. Solid number 3 for sure. And Devin Williams who has the best Changeup in the game who has experience locking down the 8th inning when Hader was there he would be great to setup Doval in the Pen. So I’d say the deal should be Bart, Arteaga, Conforto, Slater, Disclafani, and Ryan Murphy for Freddy Peralta and Devin Williams. The Brewers get Disclafani to eat innings(stop gap) Ryan Murphy a prospect pitcher, Bart who’s ambiguous, Arteaga a SS prospect, and Slater and Conforto who are solid stop gap guys who make their OF better this season while they are rebuilding it’s a quality vs quantity here, I doubt the Brewers keep Peralta through those club options anyways. And Williams seems just a future Deadline Sell piece as well for them so Farhan might as well jump on this. And then with them here they could help recruit the signing of Burnes next winter. I view this as the way better COA. Also I wish Farhan would add Jordan Hicks(27) throw 103mph to bring sauce to the 7th inning.
👍 Trust me, the Dodgers never even considered him. We know who he is. He's a scrub. He's a sheep in a wolf's clothing. He wouldn't last in a big market. You can see it in his face when he gets in a jam.
We didn’t miss out on them, they went to our biggest rivals. There is a key difference
