Can't believe we got both Ohtani and Yamamoto
Yah buddy
Next Roki
im so happy about it!
And Roki is basically a lock now. It’s so obvious these three have been scheming to play together since the WBC. Just like Lebron, Bosh and Wade on the Olympics. Only way Roki won’t be a Dodger is if his team refuses to post him, which is unlikely
@@Dodgers-sw2ukrecent video of Andrew Friedman scouting Roki in Japan pops up every where now… sad giants fan here
Senga, Yamamoto, then potentially the highest ceiling guy of them all in Roki Sasaki coming in a few years... So much talent in the league, and coming from Japan.
I can just imagine Javier Baez against him
😭😭😭
Both his rotator cuffs would go into retirement
Thats even more unfair than Vader vs all those rebels
Lol 😂
This comment is everything lol
I've been watching the Japanese championship series Orix vs Hanshin Tigers this year and Yamamoto was by far the best pitcher of the bunch. I think he will translate well into the MLB.
As an NPB fan, I'm happy that I don't have to play against Yamamoto anymore.
For the past few years, thinking about him has been stressful (lol).
Hopefully a Marines fan cause Roki Sasaki is scary good
You gotta admit, throwing a no-no while Cashman is sitting front row is damn impressive
The MLB Power Pros music gets me every time. Great job, Jolly
Holy shit… I need this guy on my team.
I remember there was a viral video of him throwing a bullpen a couple years back and everyone in the comments was wondering why he’s not in the big leagues
I hate when people say Japan’s hitters aren’t “MLB caliber”. They just beat the US in the WBC. Japan’s baseball league is definitely MLB caliber. It may not have the same amount of *great* players, but not *every* great Japanese player comes to the U.S, for various reasons, and has just as many “good”(by MLB standards) players. Any team currently in NPB could beat the A’s 7 times out of 10, just like MLB teams did. Plus, its stage is just as large as the MLB, with some teams’ attendance being higher than the bottom half of MLB’s teams.
I think it would be neat to see a series that puts the MLB Champ and the NPB champ against each other.
WBC is a joke. NPB is somewhere between AAA and MLB, which is quite a compliment. There are definitely some superstars who can play anywhere, but as a whole they are below MLB. Look at how many NPB stars have had dominant rookie seasons at the age of 18. In MLB even the most talented players spend several years in the minor leagues. And most of them fail. You would never see an 18 y/o come up and dominate. And the A's would mop the floor with any AAA team. If they played in the NPB they'd be a good team.
@@dantedepiro5677
Tell that to Trout or Betts.
Of course, everyone agrees that MLB is better. But it's not as different as you think. If there was a big difference, they would have won that tournament even if they weren't the best members. In other words, they can't win unless they have the best members. I can't say it's a big difference.
If the difference is as big as you say, it's strange that they can't win easily. They had Trout and Betts even if they weren't the best members.
Real Madrid will beat any American football team even if they don't have the best squad. Such a case is called a "big difference"
@@dantedepiro5677
Also, players have their own suitability for the league. Japanese players sometimes fail to make a mark because they are unable to adapt to the big leagues. This is not simply due to a lack of skill.
On the other hand, even if a big league player goes to the Japanese league, there will be cases where he is unable to fit in. It is possible that the results will be lower than when they were in the big leagues. It often happens in football(soccer) that players are unable to perform to their full potential because they are unable to adapt to the playing style or environment. Changes in the environment and league style are that important for players. You can't judge a player's ability just because they can't keep up their performance in Japan in other leagues. Of course, big League Baseball is definitely superior. But I think you underestimated it too much.
I would agree with your opinion if even the non-best members had overwhelmingly defeated Japan.
@@dantedepiro5677 The difference isn't as big as you think. The average NPB player is obviously going to be worse than the average MLB player because of the amount of international players in the MLB from cuba, mexico, US, canada, DR, PR, etc.. while NPB is mostly only japanese with some international players per roster. But the best of the NPB are 100% on the level of some of the best in the MLB and saying otherwise is pure ignorance. And there were also only like 8 japanese players in the MLB this past season and only like 3 of them were on the WBC team (the only one that would've made the WBC roster was kodai senga, but he wanted to be with mets in pre season to get more used to MLB environment).
The other reason is that the farm league in the NPB is way less fleshed out than MLB's. It is much more beneficial most times to have a young player develop quicker by getting them to play at the top level as quickly as possible than have them waste time against worse competition

Yankee fan here, as soon as I heard Masahiro Tanaka I started crying. Cried through the end of the video.
I miss him so much.
This comment had me thinking for a second that he died.....
Too bad the US is so racist, or he might still be pitching for us
This comment is actually embarrassing lmao
Don’t worry..Yankees will get Yamamoto and carry on Tanaka’s legacy
He has to be priority number 1 for the Mets. The Mets need at least 3 more starters and a good 5 bullpen arms.
The Mets need a lot of things to go right. Proper development of the three prospect they got at the deadline; Lindor, Nimmo, Alonso, McNeil, Baty, Alvarez all playing above expected; pitching to not get injured.
Cohen needs to stop fiddling around since he’s dodo rich
Would be great for the Mets to stop collecting old and broken players for once.
Absolutely Awesome
This is a great breakdown.
Thank you so much for the shoutout! Great stuff brother! - Aram
Dude is probably the best pitcher on the planet at the moment, and is only 25. He may not get as much, especially with posting fees, but a fair value has him making more than 30 mil per year.
dodgers got him at a discount, 27m/year
If he can stay healthy he will win a Cy young. Best splitter and pitch in baseball. Nasty
The MLB Power Pros music is top tier.
Also, just for the future it's not "the NPB", it's just "NPB", much like it's just "MLB", not "the MLB". Not a major mistake or anything but thought that I would just point that out.
Also Also, the Ken Rosenthal article got viciously mocked on Japanese baseball twitter. Using it as a source for Yamamoto's wishes is dubious at best.

This video was actually incredible, super great info and well organized. Now I want him on the Yankees even more than I already did 😂
Stupid Yankees need to go away!
It is well known that Cashman is coming after Yamamoto hard. At the moment, the Yanks are the odds on favorite to sign Yamamoto.
I appreciate all of the MLB Power Pros music in these videos
I looooove the low Innings and n his arm, feel like that's what me of the lowest inning totals we've seen from a Japanese pitcher coming over stateside
As an unbiased Dodger fan (wink wink) I do know that they will do everything in their power to get Shohei, however SP is their biggest need. So if for whatever reason they don’t get Ohtani this off-season and Yamamoto is still available, I fully expect them to go all in on the ace pitcher. Great video Jolly!
There's going to be quite a bidding war. Wherever he ends up, he'll probably be at 8 years/$240 million
As a dodger fan I hope they don’t get ohtani unless he signs well below the value of how he’s been performing, or a contract that starts off at like 55 mil a year but then later on becomes more like 30mil, but again he can probably do better than that. It’s just such a huge commitment all residing on one player who has so many question marks around whether they’ll be able to keep up their pace and not get injured again.
Ohtani, Imanaga, and Nola would be a near-perfect offseason for us. I think we'll end up with 2 of those 3.
Yall need more than pitching
@@DeepfriedBeans4492 The ridiculous amount of money Shohei brings to the team by himself should make worrying about what he'll cost irrelevant. Not even taking into the fact what he does on the field. Even if after a few years he stops pitching, his bat alone would still make him worth it between production and money he brings in.
The varsity athlete in the opening... Italy should have a league on par with japan, honestly
LOS DOYERS! LET'S F'N GO!!!

Source trust me bro
The juxtaposition of the light & peppy music behind Yamamoto absolutely destroying batters got me good.
I could see the Mariners being a surprising team that land him. They would have essentially a super rotation from 1-5.
Getting him (and/or other high-value SP options) then trading some of our younger pitchers for bats would be a classic DiPoto move. That said, we already sunk a lot of money into Ray & Castillo so we'll most likely aim lower.
@@T_K7 they already said payroll would go up so hopefully they would try to dump Marco’s contract or maybe even White’s contract this offseason to clear more space.
@@ryanstaiger1712 Those would be nice to see but I'm not getting my hopes up. With all of this attention on Yamamoto I wouldn't be surprised to see us take Imanaga though, especially since we'd need a new lefty to replace Marco. Maybe Snell if we're really spending but I'm not expecting that much to go into FA pitching.
The PowerPros music really brings me back, also hoping the Yanks can land this guy
Is that MLB Power Pros music I'm hearing in the background? Those games were the best.
It seems like he is able to put some funk into his wind-up. That has to get Yankee fans drooling.
I love the fact that this video compared Yamamoto to Pedro. Spot on. Pedro's fastball was a little bit more "explosive" than that of Yamaoto. But, Yamamoto has a splitter that Pedro didn't. Both have great command of all those pitches. I'm not predicting that Yamamoto will be as good as Pedro was when he pitched for the Expose and the Red Sox. But, he will be a solid #1 or #2 starter on any team in the MLB. He will be fun to watch next year.
A little bit more explosive is an understatement. Pedro's fastball movement was crazy, nothing like the straight one this guy throws. I get the sentiment comparing them by height but Pedro had full command over his a+ fastball, maybe the best circle change ever and an often overlooked a+ curveball. His three pitches might all have been the best in the mlb at that time. I cant even find a pitcher in the history of the game to compare him to. You cant compare him to this guy except for the approach angle.
You're right about Pedro's fastball. It was special. Still, let's give Yamamoto a chance. He may not win Cy Young but may give his new MLB team a chance to win by going at least 6 innings every 5th day. @@m.o.5291
@@m.o.5291 Yeah, you can't compare anybody to Pedro.
The MLB Power Pros music in the background of this vid >>>>>>
As an extreamlly biased Dodger fan, I think our chances at Yamamoto will heavily depend on Shohei. First is obviouslly Shohei's contract with some reports that he may sign for a lower contract in order to reset himself for a larger deal down the road, which would to me indicate full steam ahead on Yamamoto, espically since starting pitching is by far our biggest need this offseason. Although I think Imanaga might be our bigger target due to his pricepoint and since all eyes are on Yamamoto for starting pitching
Said anything?!?

SF GIANTS, best pitching park in baseball and our youth is on the come up. LFG!
What's the reasoning behind the large amount of LHBs in Japan? Do they train that from a young age?
Yes. I guess for some of right handed LHBs, train to become LHB was easier than get average on the right batter box.
Jolly- anyone ever say you look like the metal singer Dan Vasc? Check out his video - Amazing Grace. I kinda think you do.
Do a profile for all top free agents

baseball would do well forgetting the damn height of players. The amount of prospects that get passed over due their height is ridiculous.

You're the GOAT!
Saw this man pitch in Osaka for Orix. His stuff is absolutely nasty.
Nola isn't resigning in Philly, which makes me sad. Word is he wants WAY more than Phillies are willing to offer, which considering his age and the light FA market makes sense. This makes me sad.
Edit: Welp, he's back. I guess I'll eat my crow with a side if champagne!
Cold take exposed
@@MrMtc228 Yup, and I couldn't be happier about it. I thought he'd get more on the market, but it looks like he took a discount. I have concerns about years 4-7 of the deal, but Nola would've been really difficult to replace considering his workload and playoff performance, and now we don't have to, and I don't have to worry about Atlanta Nola. Big win in my opinion, and I'll happily eat my crow

Yankees need The Admiral Yamamoto!
The best thing about Yamamoto is he’s an actual pitcher not just a flamethrower trying to overpower hitters.
I noticed that, he has an extremely easy delivery.
Just so you know, Lars Nootbaar and Yamamoto's moms are very close and also Nootbaar is actively recruiting Yamamoto to the Cardinals. Yamamoto has the same agent as Nolan Arenado so that would also help.
Money talks. Cards can’t hang with the Mets, Yankees and potentially dodgers.
@@MrMtc228 Nola turned down more money for familiarity and comfort 🤷♀
those reports are being disputed. but totally different situation. Nola's been in Philly for a decade, Yamamoto might be friends with nootbar but he doesn't owe st. louis or the cardinals organization anything. actually, it should be incumbent on him to take the most money he can get to expand the market for his fellow japanese players who will come over over the next few years. @@CesarNoelQ
@MrMtc228 he's in a new environment he's going to go where he feels comfortable from all that he says as long as they stay around that 200 mil mark I think the cards have a really good shot having the most connections with him

To be fair he can't say that he wouldn't like to play with another Japanese ballplayer. For one that would limit the bidding war. And it risks pissing off the future team Japan members he will play with at the next wbc.
Yeah that article got viciously mocked on Japanese baseball twitter. There seems to be this mindset that Japanese baseball culture has not evolved since the 1980s, when in reality it has. The only time we've really that come in to play is when Shohei said he didn't want to sign with the Mariners because he felt it was "Ichiro's team". That seems to have been extrapolated into the thinking that no Japanese player wants to sign with the Mariners.
Except... Ichiro wasn't the first Japanese Mariner, Kaz Sasaki was. And Ichiro didn't hinder the Mariners from signing Shigetoshi Hasegawa, Hisashi Iwakuma and Munenori Kawasaki.
@@GaijinBaseball he might want to forge his own path with a team who has never had a Japanese player but he can't say it if he does. And Seattle being the closest geographically to Japan would be the reason for the Mariners signing Japanese players more than any other team.
Great point! Although I think that whole aspect has been overblown. I mean they are used to playing with a full team of Japanese players & going to a new country across the globe, having someone who speaks your language & knows your culture can far outweigh the big brother aspect.
Japanese players don’t have a reluctance to play with other Japanese players, that Ken Rosenthal quote is just totally misinformed.

I feel like there is some snell slander here. Hes a 2 time cy young winner, just won it and the community is instantly giving top pitching prospect to someone who hasnt thrown in mlb before. I get he has been dominant and in the wbc was amazing but it feels wrong to tell the reigning cy young winner who had a monster season "hmm you are number 3 or 4 sir, i know you just won the pitching title but some freak pitcher that never thrown in the mlb is expected to be the best pitcher in the world."
And i want him to succeed just i cant put him as number 1 without seeing him pitch in the mlb.
