Honestly, the level design is mind blowing in how clever it is. In most games, even in dino centric ones, you would need to go around striving and shooting or just run away, but here game allows to use interactions set upped before, like dinos going for food or going between closed spaces, encouraging quick controls and mind plays. Honestly, this game might as well be DinoCrisis reboot, because it does horror and survival aspect against dinos so well.
And we're still waiting for a Dino Crisis 1 multiplatform rerelease/remaster. A remake would just remind me too much of Resident Evil 3 "Reimagining's" watered down take and RE4 Remake's unnecessary existence.
@@mikhaelgribkov4117 Way too derivative by way of some lackluster gameplay and characters and even a half-baked story in spite of the hype from the far better second game's ending. Also, the likes of Nightdive Studios may not have some ownership of it, not unlike how the No One Lives Forever duology is really, really, *really* hard to acquire due to scrambled rights.
You handled the V-Rex expertly. And seeing the beast in action remined me that the Porokoa from Deadfire would fit perfectly on Skull Island, a giant tank of an aquatic lizard ready to ruin your day.
Even though I actually hate how anemic Thompson is against anything larger than those small raptors and bats, it's actually pretty much canon that V-Rex had armored backs and skull, so even in movies it would have been quite difficult to kill it except by firing at it's belly and throat.
I remember playing the demo version of the vrex level and Kong fight at blockbuster. This level scared me out of my skin . But as Kong it felt so awesome fighting the dinosaurs.
Shame the film sequels aren't as good, even if there are setpieces. Man, would have loved a book-faithful movie adaptation of the second book by Michael Crichton.

Ah, from Pillars of Eternity. Almost forgot you're still doing that run of that game as of this point.
@@michaelandreipalon359 Yea and it will be a while still before its completed.
This level scared the shit out of me when I was a kid.
Ultimately understandable.
This level is pure nostalgia, and the initial fight between Kong and V-Rex was included on the demo disc.
And a smart choice to use that as the setpiece.
I remember playing the demo version myself all those years ago at Best Buy stores... The nostalgia...
Quite a frightening sight.
Only Monke can protect us now.
Pity it's not of the Optimus Primal vs. Dinobot kind of nuance via saving and redemption. *"Where's the honor in that?"*

The design of the V-rex is like a hybrid of the Tyrannosaurus from the Rite of Spring segment from Fantasia & Sharptooth from the Land Before Time.
Hmm, mayhaps Peter Jackson if not Ubisoft Montpellier took notes.
@@michaelandreipalon359 Probably, maybe a staff member of Ubisoft was a fan of those 2 animated films I brought up?
In the actual film, Lumpy was killed by those disgusting leech things that could extend their mouths in the Spider Pit.
Quick if a bit too violent death = better yet still regrettable.

Talk about an amazing setup only to fall flat at that last minute. Classic game logic where they can't hop over a 2 foot fence or jump a small gap.
At least there's no limited rechargeable adrenaline sprint bullcrud from modern shooters.
