Pullman was placed in Poland (8th septemer 1996) my first live Metallica show. and it was huge! only 9000 people, scene placed in the middle of "katowicki Spodek" over 3 hours of live playing and those kind of jamms. unforgetable.
xBaphometHx lombardo's good cause he knows when to groove. Hes not as fast as say george kollias but speed is all kollias does. Blastbeats and the same 2 tom snare fill
Sgt.James Doakes I would say the opposite. Lombardo cannot groove, there are videos where "he tries" to play different things and he cannot. On the other side, Kollias is more versatile when playing other styles, although he is repetitive when he plays Nile.
i learned how to play by myself, it may not count but it does for me... i just turned 16 on the 20 and last week friday, my dads friend came over and showed me a little more, im just practicing that now and along with metallica
I can't argue that Lars is a mediocre drummer when it comes to physical ability, but he's not lucky. He's a great artist. It's like a painter who could never do up a realistic oil portrait, but who still paints awesome shit. Pretty much any drummer will notice how thick he lays on the fill-ins, and how they are all different from eachother in subtle ways. A lot of guys can bang out some crazy solo shit at high speeds... Try writing great drum parts for great songs.
@ocinshultz yeah he taught one old their bassits to play that was before cliff and the album kill them all. read it in the metallica biography "enter light" its a good read
@TheUnforgiven1909 also he play bass and lead guitar (he played bass on the demos of the black album and also some solos of these demos) there is a video around the year 2001 where james, lars and bob rock remember the demo of enter sandman
@WeirdoNabido There's a video of them performing "Am I Evil?" with James on drums, Kirk on bass, Jason on guitar, & Lars singing. Of course, he's not as good as James, but he wasn't horrible.
@duuii25 I'm not quite sure what you're asking......What I'm trying to say is that Kirk has more complicated solos that require more talent, because he's a better guitarist, and can do more complicated things. He was taught guitar by Joe Satriani...
People who are musically inclined are usually good at a wide range of instruments. Just like how naturally gifted athletes are good at a wide variety of sports.
Cliff played his bass like a guitar cause he soled and did leads he obviously did his job as a bassist laying down the rhythm but he did it with a twist by playing lead parts with his rhythm playing im sure cliff played a guitar he would have been an awesome guitarist.
James could be the full band... He does Rhythm Guitars normally, On the Black album demos, he did Bass and Lead Guitars... And here he is playing the drums.
Nah they did this all the time, San Diego is the best known example. And they played a sabbath riff when james was drumming. It wasn't an insult, its like when at San Diego they said Aerosmith came to San diego. its because they played walk this way
James's brother played drums and I think James hetfield has a passion for drums w guitar
Before Metallica, he used to play drums in a band called Spastik Child! So he has some experience too! Love James.
@@juliakadovideos264 spastic children was a punk band created while he was in Metallica.
@@justjeff600 I don’t k ow about that band but I know that James took drum lessons as a child before he found his passion for guitar
@@mysticstormer3504 i thought it was piano that he learned before picking up a guitar.
@@justjeff600 oh hang in a sec yes it was actually I got mixed around
Hey I am impressed by James haha
3:10 - Black Sabbath - Hand Of Doom

7:58 - Deep Purple - Smoke On The Water

7:48 Pantera - Cowboys From Hell
Oh the old times of Alcohollica that I didn't live =/ would be fine to see something like this in the nowadays shows
euamerica95 I'm with you.
They lack of alcohol nowadays
Im pretty sure that James is the best at every instrument played in the band (except for Cliff, he was a bass god)
rosshay54. Have my doubts, i don t think he can play every rythm and high technical fills on drums
kirk is the better guitarisy
3:05 Hand Of Doom.
Pullman was placed in Poland (8th septemer 1996) my first live Metallica show. and it was huge! only 9000 people, scene placed in the middle of "katowicki Spodek" over 3 hours of live playing and those kind of jamms. unforgetable.
Cool 🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽
I will never get sick of watching this video! cool
James is such a badass. Sings, plays guitar, drums, piano. What CAN"T he do?
He can't get rid of stupid Lars, that's what he can't do.
"Check this shit out huh, uh it's pretty fuckin cool huh, or pretty fuckin stooopid depending on how you look at it huh." Oh Lars we love you.
I really love the way James plays drums,he should do it more often!!!
"Ringo wasn't even the best drummer in the Beatles!" kinda applies here too.
4:24 "remember that thing i taught you?"
*James proceeds to play one
I love when "Hand of Doom" from Black Sabbath comes in at 3:00
that's awesome
I would like to see a drum battle with Thomas Lang, Marco Minnemann, Virgil Donati, Mike Portnoy, Dan Carey, Chris Adler, Dave Lombardo.
Then Gavin Harrison comes and everybody kneel down.
Dave Lombardo XD good joke :D
Yeah, Lombardo is a pretty simple drummer. Very fast but nothing compared to younger drummers like George Kollias.
xBaphometHx lombardo's good cause he knows when to groove.
In the first 5 seconds, I wanted nothing more than this video to never end.
That moment when the guitarist of the band has more groove playing drums than the drummer himself.
Than the drummer *herself*
You don't know shit about druming. You just hear that jokes and hating lars druming skills are popular and that's reason why you wrote his.
i learned how to play by myself, it may not count but it does for me... i just turned 16 on the 20 and last week friday, my dads friend came over and showed me a little more, im just practicing that now and along with metallica

One of the coolest drum battles in history in my opinion i wish i could back in actually see these guy plays back then:) lol
Singer embarrasses drummer, story of Lars...
I play drums and even I'll admit that it's easy.
I think it's cause he's obviously a guitarist that they made a big deal
i started playing drums 3 years ago i never started listening to old music until last year but thanks
man james should grow his hair long again :) wish i was alive to see these guys back when they where like this
He is actually growing it
Lars doesn't have hair anymore
@Championmdf It's 'Hall of the Mountain King'. Written by Grieg. The Savatage version is called Prelude to Madness.
How is de name of the song of the minute 6:37
"Hall of the mountain king" by Edvard Krieg :)
watch?v=kRU-c0SBbyU Savatage put it in an instrumental on one of their albums back in the day, just look up "prelude to madness"
I love me some James Hetfield. I love his headbanging when he plays. Hes only the most beautiful man hahah
Holy shit he's more accurate the lars.
More than a battle this is a showdown of AWESOMENESS!!
@TVF100
dont hate on lars. hes awesome.
there's just so much awesomeness on that stage
if James play the drums , who play the rythm guitar and vocals ?
I love the ONE deul on the drums sounds gnarly when played twice at the same time
James plays better than Lars
No
You don't know shit about druming. You just hear that jokes and hating lars druming skills are popular and that's reason why you wrote his.
has anyone else seen old footage of them all trading instruments and playing then like second nature
Dude I'm SHOCKED
what a sick drum battle
and the winner is... JAMES HETFIELD! (yes, even on drums - that's just how much Lars Oilrig sucks)
+Berluskaiser lol Oilrig.. he wasn't as bad as he IS. It just declined over the years, he imo was decent in the early days.
@Zopetzo its a norwegian song made by Edvard Grieg called: Dovregubbens hall. i dont know the amreican title.
@TheUnforgiven1909 Plus, he played bass pretty early on in Metallica in addition to guitar, back before they had an actual bass player.
+TheAir97 Black Sabbath - Hand Of Doom
James did an excellent job drumming with Lars. Awesome drumming, James (even though you are the main Vocalist and Guitarist of Metallica)!
@froponalas If you mean the song that kicks off at 3:05 its Black Sab's "Hand of Doom".
Hell fu**in yes!!!!! Badass is an understatement
James is the most talented man in the world, man to be able to sing awesome, play guitar and drums.. ( GOD)
Thank you for uploading this
This video was uploaded on my birthday :) Metaliica rules for life
This was when Metallica was fun and Epic. So glad I saw them so many times at this point.
@ocinshultz yes!!! he did the bass and the solos on the demos of the black album!!
All are great at what they do, but do not think James is better than Lars on drums, as he is not better than James on guitar.
lars is the best but james is putting up a fight their both great
@ocinshultz yeah he taught one old their bassits to play that was before cliff and the album kill them all. read it in the metallica biography "enter light" its a good read
@UberVlog2010 It's Hand of Doom from the Paranoid album
@TheUnforgiven1909 also he play bass and lead guitar (he played bass on the demos of the black album and also some solos of these demos) there is a video around the year 2001 where james, lars and bob rock remember the demo of enter sandman
James is just an all-around amazing musician
@DarthAGX @ElViajeroDelMetal The first one in Hand Of Doom by Black Sabbath. The second is One, from the Black Album ^^
@Dragonmastermatthew No. The blond haired guy is the rhythm guitarist James Hetfield
What;'s the name of the song that starts at 3:06 ? I think it's a Sabbath song, but I don't know the name of it :)
@davebautista1 Thank for answer. Pulman - maybe. I live in Poland, but I don't know Rusty club :). Best regards Peter!
@ocinshultz he played the bass track for Nothing Else Matters
This is the best video ever. James FTW!
Holy shit he played hand of doom by black sabbath on the drums that is so hard to play congratulations
this happened i think 18 years ago...lars started using green drums around 2002-2003 until 2007 when he turned it to orange!!
Kirk calling Lars baby >
I love this. James is loaded, but having a great time, and proving some skills.
@ocinshultz He also played the piano in his youth.
@gleegin Dude he is having a good time, why do you have to hate?
I love the moment when kirk and james are playing Black Sabbath, but can someone tell me whats the name of this song????
song is called: fuck ém all from the album ride the fuck perfomer fuckmallica
thumbs up if you realised that what lars did at 2:30 is the slowed up version of what he did in his solo!
Fuck You! is a bonus track on there upcoming album :D
Whoever took this video is a GOD!
awesome. Anyone have the full concert?
@thanhtuanth1
Its "in the Hall of the Mountain King" by Edvard Grieg.

@gigi876 I want to know it too , if you will have a answer, please could you tell me what is name of the song? ;] ;D and vice versa
Does anybody know the name of the composition James covered 6:37 to 6:47?
Thanks man it really obsesed me!I didn t know the song!tank youuuuu!
This must have been one hell of a show.
4:10 "That's Testament, Play Metallica''
what song is Kirk playing at 6:45
@WeirdoNabido There's a video of them performing "Am I Evil?" with James on drums, Kirk on bass, Jason on guitar, & Lars singing. Of course, he's not as good as James, but he wasn't horrible.

when james starts playing at 0:40.. is that a song or no.. if so what song
People who are musically inclined are usually good at a wide range of instruments. Just like how naturally gifted athletes are good at a wide variety of sports.
@gleegin He's a brilliant show man and drumer! He keeps the crowd going!
you know thats the enter sandman bassline at first
Guys, James can play the guitar,de aso does vocals and PLAY DRUMS too,
He should release a solo album named "Play 'em all"\\m//

In the hall of the mountain king!! Thats a norwegian song! :D Im from Norway :D
@sandman16915 it sounded like lord of this world but the guitar parts were modified
what's the name of that little bit kirk plays right after lars calls him?
What deep purple song were they gonna play? Or were they just gonna do smoke on the water?
Cliff played his bass like a guitar cause he soled and did leads he obviously did his job as a bassist laying down the rhythm but he did it with a twist by playing lead parts with his rhythm playing im sure cliff played a guitar he would have been an awesome guitarist.
James could be the full band...
He does Rhythm Guitars normally,
On the Black album demos, he did Bass and Lead Guitars...
And here he is playing the drums.
I like how the James completely shows Lars up throughout this whole video.
@aatefmagic Duh, Piano was James first instrument.
Someone tell me what's the song's name on 6:39. I've heard it a million times & I've always wanted it as my phone's ringtone. : ]
Nah they did this all the time, San Diego is the best known example. And they played a sabbath riff when james was drumming. It wasn't an insult, its like when at San Diego they said Aerosmith came to San diego. its because they played walk this way
