He's a TCG character and it's so cool. He has 3 decks he can switch between with different cards in them, the number left of his mana is the cards left in deck, and he reloads by drawing a card from the deck. I need a Yu-gi-Oh fighting game that plays like this character.
Asuka really had 2 wishes from a genie. First one was to become a fucking badass wizard. Second one was to keep the nice Js he bought during his time working with Aria and Frederick. Man saw the apocalypse coming and said "nah I can't lose this pair they'll never have fashion like this again"
"I'm the most powerful mage in the universe." "Ok, what kind of magic can you do?" "I summon cubes." "Alright, and...?" "And then I summon more cubes."

Galaxy cape? check Spell cards? check Multiple decks for spell variations? check Can run out of cards? check Spell draws are RNG? check Bullet hell attacks? check Can use projectiles into other projectiles? check Has a survival mechanic tied to his meter? check Is this meter used for both defense and spell usage? check Has an air low? check Has a tracking attack that comes from above you? check Can he fill the screen with projectiles? check Can you interact with his projectiles in ways other than just jumping over them? check Is quite literally a playable boss character? check I'm 100% sure they got inspired by Soku to make him.
Considering his one other interactable appearance in the series was like a danmaku fight all on its own, it makes perfect sense to believe they were inspired by Touhou for this execution, too!
This is the first character in Strive while watching the trailer I said to myself, "I *have* to play this character, even if it's only for fun." Marvelous presentation for sure.
The more I watch Asuka videos, the more I miss Blazblue, now that they are emulating Nine, I need someone who can control wind physics in 8 directions as a Rachel main. Blazblue really had some of the most unique and experimental fighting game mechanics. Asuka himself looks very interesting, he wears the universe as his drip and plays TCG and MMOs. He basically casts mana shield and converts HP to MP, shuffles, draws, discards his deck to do magic rotations like an FF14 Black Mage, Astrologian or Summoner.
Most characters in Blazblue just straight up were different enough to be knowledge checks. Shoutouts to CPhantasma Amane tearing your HP apart if you don't IB
Right? I love GG and Strive in general, but I've just been wanting to go back to BB for ages now. Barely anybody plays, and there's no rollback last I checked. I just want my Mu-12 back, bros.
The thing I'm thinking is that the random nature of his spells means that longer combos are going to have to be improvised on the fly. You don't have reliable access to the majority of your moves, so Asuka players are going to have to make do with what they have at the moment.
Genuinely so interested to see how Asuka will stack up to the rest of the cast. Since getting hit drains his mana (and therefore removes his defense buff) I wonder if it'll reward going for longer combo routes on him? It looks like once his mana bar hits zero it has to full regen before he can use his spells again, so if you're able to deplete his bar by doing damage that could create some advantageous situations for the opponent.
This is one of the most hype character announcements I've seen in a while. A character from a beloved series that's legendary but never has been playable finally is. And his gameplay is a new take on Nine the Phantom, which is one of the coolest concepts ever. I just completed Nine's tutorial mode last week and I definitely want to play with her eventually, but first I want to get competent with Blazblue's mechanics and with Litchi.
11:03 so, in terms of the ice spell... not only do you have to get it randomly in your spell list to even use it, but you only get to fire it off once before its gone for the round... so you'd better make that reversal option count
Yeah you really want those 0.06 teleport and multi cube on other case then goes back to case 1 for guaranteed 6 5 5 5 projectiles cube Me when playing asuka: literally draw the teleport and speed staff on the last 3 card My opponent playing asuka: 3 in a row mana refils and multicube baby!
Glad to see Sajam's interested in Asuka, since I'm very much excited about Asuka players with actual TCG experience. Making use of both skill sets at the same time is going to be pretty wild, like sculpting your hand and fishing for the single DP card with the super.
I was thinking about this after the starter guide was out but if the acceleration staff affects the overhead/low spells and makes them faster, good luck blocking those.
Lol. I expect people to get bodied by the overhead projectile for a while regardless, even though it's hardly the only one to ever exist, since I think it's new to _Guilty Gear_ itself.
So hyped for this chr! and you need to check out the Starter Guide, he has insane 'stance' / P.Wright gameplay The one chr cant wait to mirror match, lol (want a whole tourny of just him ;)
He's such a cool looking and interesting character, especially after having watched the official video (that I wish was Nine minutes), but *man* do I pity Potemkin players unless flick works on literally everything.
Fighting Game spellcasters like Dormammu, Nine, and Asuka are such amazing characters. How they put a fucking VANCIAN CASTER in a fighting game is so fucking wild. If anyone here has played Pathfinder 1e, Asuka is literally a level 20 Arcanist. It's absolutely wild. He has Mana for spontaneous casting, but can also change the spells he has memorized and lock them into spell slots????? He's got the Dimensional Slide Arcane Exploit?????? LIKE CMON
I think the install super lets him keep the spells in the hotbar till the install ends. Could be wrong but it looks like it increases his mana regen OR reduced MP cost on his spells.
There is a video going over his moves, its not an install super. It instantly refreshes all of your empty spell slots, and it allows you to rapidly switch between spells during the animation. They don't rlly use it that effectively in the gameplay footage but its probably rlly good for letting you extend ur pressure or instantly put urself back in the game if u spent all ur resources. If you know what you're looking for you can really dig deep into the deck using it.
it’s basically a reroll on his spell slot gacha, allowing him to swap out any of his four spell slots as many times as he wishes (or needs) within the window of time (though limited i think to which of the four decks he has active) Either refresh the hand to a set of more useful cards with specific tools or effects, immediately get a full hand from an empty one since it fills the slots at random if they’re empty, etc.
Hey Sajam you are so cool are you planning to play Asuka as well? Asuka plays like a character out of a fantasy mmo, but I like it I'm impressed gameplay wise looks like I'm going to be in training mode alot Asuka is finally here and Im going to play the heck out of That Man
the big blast move seems so disgusting, first round he inst fired it off after round start, have a 3 frame startup and guard crushes, later on he used it and he reloaded a spell and is still plus, the most gorilla move ever
I really hope we get a balance patch soon, with asuka, ots 3 charachters without a balance patch ( and the last two kinda need ot i might add) also the game really needs a balance patch to address some characters, leo, ram and chaos are still too dominant, may is abnoctius, so they need some small bonks, sin and bed are garbo right now and sol FEELS like shit (not saying he is bad, saying he feels bad to play) and needs a bit of a rebalance/small buff. The game needs some rebalancing on top of much needed shake up of some characters
Sol: Poor Asuka, he always throws cube.
Asuka: Good 'ol cube. Nothing beats that!
He's a TCG character and it's so cool.

You only need to learn one moveset but the cards change what each character can do
He is a TGC character in a fighting game. Meanwhile ky is eating white bread and plain water. All of this tools stripped and neutered from xrd.
