- i'm just a simple bitch who loves perc'ahlia. there is nothing that can be done about this.
this is my first time editing a video, please be gentle on me, merciful strangers.
I love the romantic dynamic of two people who are just super into eachother and love being around eachother and that's literally it. I don't know why its so uncommon for relationships in stories to just be uncomplicated and without constant bickering or any other toxic traits. Like I literally can't think of any relationship in Fantasy other than Percy and Vex who are just super stoked to be around eachother, give eachother healthy space, and aren't in any way toxic to eachother.
edit: Veth and Yeza is ironically the only other example in fantasy I can think of, but even that had some minor problematic elements like Veth barely every being around, but at leasy Yeza was inhumanely understanding and loving.
its because conflict creates plot/action, and sadly while it reflects extremely toxic relationship dynamics, it makes for great entertainment
@Z that's fair I totally understand the prevalence of more toxic relationships in media but also there's something so entertaining about really good chemistry and infatuation when done well! I guess it depends on if the relationship is the focus of the plot or if it's an incidental part of the story.
1 word: Drama
I mean... from my experience, that's a rarity even in real life. I've never been in a healthy relationship, my parents didn't have a healthy relationship, my sister doesn't have a healthy relationship. The most stable relationship I've ever seen is my best friend's, and even she and her husband have frequent toxic moments. 24/7 healthy stability is just not very common.

Veth/Yeza's relationship does not count, Yeza is a delight and too good for this world but Veth kinda sucks as a partner lol. I know she loves him and she rescued him from Xhorhas which is great, but She constantly undermines him in front of their child and Her friends are terrible influences on a 6 year old. It's pretty obvious that all of the talk of violence and sex around their small child makes him wildly uncomfortable (rightfully so) and any time he tried to gently do something about it she makes it worse. Etc.
(I know it's because Sam is going for comedy all the time but still, there's a time and place, and sometimes he gets too much into the bit and makes his characters look like douchebags I think more than intended lol).

Seeing this and watching the animated show, I've come to realize these two are the team parents of Vox Machina
Percy certainly sees them as "the adults" of the group. Taliesin says this in the watchalong q&as.

He's not wrong, Percy makes some terrible life choices but he's still smarter and more logical than everyone else other than Vex. And maybe Scanlan, who's smart but also dumb (That low wisdom modifier kicking in IE: Sam being too much of a troll to function properly unless they REALLY need him to be on top of his shit then he pulls a genius move out of his ass lol).
I love Vax but he's a dumbass who just get's dumber once he hooks up with Keyleth and they do their Shakespearian tragedy angst spiral thing. Even before that they brought out and reinforced each other's inner dumbass like what happened during the meeting with the clasp, or when Keyleth wanted to do a signal over Whitestone when the dragon was looking for them and almost ruined Gilmores protection of the city and Vax thought it was a good idea, or when she and Vax drove the revenge plan to get Raishan right away (Which is a debatable one, might have been worse if they didn't go, we'll never know, the first 2 are 100% pure dumbassery though, and not up for debate lol), etc. Keyleth has her moments of smart but boy oh boy does she have her moments of dumb.
Grog is Grog, explanation unnecessary. Pike's smart but she's not around all the time and when she is around she doesn't always know what's going on fully. I would consider Pike the third adult that's there only sometimes.
Which is pretty funny considering Percy is probably the youngest member of Vox Machina. It's a toss-up between him and Keyleth for youngest if I remember right. They're both supposed to be early 20s according to their players. The twins are late 20s, then Pike/Grog are 30-40, and Scanlan is the oldest at somewhere between 50-60 (he has an adult daughter).
@@nommyytKeyleth is 23, Percy 24, twins 27, I don't think Grog himself remembers his age, and Scanlan is obviously 69.
@@nemodra4790 Percy was stated in his early 20s, so oldest he could be is 23, also he was a minor when the Briarwoods killed his family so 17 is the oldest he could've been, since it was 6 years between Briarwoods and VM hes probably 21-23 initially and ends the campaign at 23-25, he and Keyleth are the same age or hes younger than her by a year or two
It took me a while to realize them flirting when i initially watched it but now i'm thinking "how could i've not picked up on that"😅
