Radar was a modern invention during WWII.
An Elefant radar stood in the dunes of Castricum in the Netherlands.

Nice job on finding that site!!! Awesome work. Loved seeing how the support blocks were still there for the radar and that the main block "house" was still there for it!!! Curious, was the other "concrete" block,smaller one, still there or gone. I tried to see if it was there beyond the trees, but was hard to tell. Thanks for taking us along and also, I agree, they should leave those bunkers alone. Filling concrete excess or blocks around it is totally shameful. Take care.
We think they are all there either a little buried or fully buried. Loved this place and EE was so proud to be the one who " found " it. Thanks Colleen :)

Fascinating. Standing where that giant radar actually stood. There must have been so much security all around the area. Any idea if England had radar before Germany? Thank you both for showing this site. How is EE throat?
Yes this place was totally off limit and even the locals did not know all of what was there at any given time. Actually the British did present a radar in June 1937. EE has now healed up 100 % and so glad for that. Those days out there were pretty tough on him specially. Thanks for your kindness and we send our greetings from us my friend :)
It's such a shame those people erasing history. This was a great explore! To see the remnants of where this huge radar was amazing. It's really sad that they are burying the bunkers. Mother nature is doing her share but these historical places should be left alone. EE has done an exceptional job researching this area. He's turning into a very good adventurer. Another great video HH. Unfortunately, there is not a lot of people interested in history. I battled that thought process for years, my grandfather hated my interest in family heritage, it went downhill fast when I found family links back to the Viking era. It is a shame they are burying all the positions. The Germans had a great knowledge of RADAR fundamentals both large and small systems. Again, well done. Stay safe and well out there on the new trips.

What an interesting place that was, it does prove that history can be covered up, but it still remains underneath. It is progress, just as the Germans building the bunkers was progress too. As ever many thanks for taking me with you.
Have you ever seen the inventory markings in a bunker that you've explored ? You always talk about it , but I've never seen any markings yet . Great video by the way as always !
Yes we have at many locations. it is writings on the wall stating the numbers and types of munition stored inside. Often in roof or walls. Thanks for watching.

It was really fascinating to see that the small house like structure from the radar installment is still there!! I really do envy the fact that you and Eagle Eyes can actually go to these places and touch the history that remains there!! This was a great explore, it's just a shame that more is not being done to protect these pieces of history for future generations to enjoy and learn from them! Wouldn't it have been something to see the Mammut radar complete with the bistatic See- Elefant radar still fully intact and standing. Such advanced technology again for that era. Yes, a shame the Regelbau 621s will eventually be buried and covered with landfill. I feel they should have made some attempt in preserving the WW2 historical structures there. At least we were able to go inside one with you HH and EE and see this piece of history before it was destroyed. Thank you for taking us there. 💕

It is sad, HH, that many want to hide and try to erase history! This is such a great story, thank you EE for your research which made it possible for us to learn a out the Mammoth and Elefant radars. Loved the pictures of them and, of course, because you went out there we got to see where they originally stood. A fascinating video about this radar installation which must have been able to pick up the bomber streams just after they left the English coast. Was this area attacked by the RAF as I'm surprised that some Mosquitoes were not sent to destroy the Mammut and the Elefant? And it's shame that this rich WW2 history and archaeology are being eradicated forever. As ever, many thanks to both of you!

History Hunter, you showed a bunker system nearly encased in chunks of concrete and not possible to enter. How often do you and your sidekick, Eagle Eye, find a destination blocked by landfill not by fences? Any modern-day moonshiners?

I found it ironic that at 20:00 mins, where you show thw photo of the Mammut radar hut, behind it on a tower is a modern search radr turning round and rouind. Such a shame that some of the bunkers will never been seen again, Thank you for sharing this place with us. Stay safe and well my friends

Thank you for sharing this really fascinating location. It is a shame that some people don't see the worth in preserving History, and would rather just use it as a dumping ground, and bury it deep. Thankfully, we have our History Hunter team to record these amazing places before they disappear forever. Those Flak positions were really well preserved, and still looked useable today, so hopefully they will stay that way for a long time to come. The Mammut, with it's 300km range, was one of those true surprises for the Allies, who thought that only prototypes existed, not actual operational systems, and it was so cool to see the actual location of this one, and it's concrete bunker still standing. That is definitely a very unique site, which hopefully will always be there to see. And it was also kind of nice to see that there is still a radar system operating at that location. Modern, but still a strong link to the history of the area. Thank you again, for sharing this location, and for all your hard work, and efforts, to bring these incredible locations, and stories, to us. Cheers to you both! Stay well!

This is the problem with 'erasing history,' once its gone, it's gone, and those that follow in our footsteps that want to see where these thing were will never be able to find them, and unless they have maps and pictures, they won't believe it.

That large radar was huge and I am surprised the Allies did not destroy it. It is a shame that bunkers are being buried and destroyed but thank goodness some have been preserved in great condition and even turned into museums so that history lives on! Thanks for taking us along and showing us this location!

I keep saying this but so happy you are out documenting these locations before they are completely gone. Many years from now , explorers will dig up one of these locations and may even reference your videos to find out what they are. I found it interesting to see how huge these radar structures were and then see smaller ones operating on towers that are there today and they probably have a larger range than the big ones. I would love to see your face if you walked into an ammunition bunker and it was full of ammunition lol. I hate that they are covering these bunkers up. Remove or hide history in the name of progress. Keep up the great work.

There were not just a few of them, but a whole line. The Kammhuber Line was a strategic installation for radar-based air defense using the sky-bed method by the Wehrmacht's air force during the Second World War and, when completed, reached a length of over 1,000 kilometers from northern to southern Europe. During the Second World War, the “Himmelbett method” was a method of guided night fighters in which radar equipment on the ground was used to guide night fighter aircraft. In addition, anti-aircraft searchlights and anti-aircraft batteries were used in the fixed sky-bed positions to support the defense against incoming bombers. This strategic defense system lost much of its effectiveness and importance when the RAF switched to concentrating the bomber stream over a small width in mid-1942, thus “flooding” the sky bed positions, which had only a small depth separation.

I have relativeves in Kristiansand, and I was there as a kid in 1978, at the age of 5. The allies never stood a chance??? Well according to all the history books ive read the allies wiped the floor with the axis powers. I think your title is innacurate to say the least...
@@AJonyt007 it was stalemate until america joined the war, after that the result was not in question. And as for tech, the brits had better radars, jets coming into service and computers which broke enigma, and the americans had nukes... the german tech was only abit scary, it was pretty much useless as far as the v weapons are concerned, they were not accurate and only were good if the allies cowered from them, they made no real difference except to drain resources germany should have used on bombers and fighters, but of course germany was short of fuel so even that wouldnt of helped long term. And ive not even mentioned russia, which contributed a massive amount to germanies defeat and would of beaten germany eventually regardless in a war of attrition. The fact the combined allies completely wiped out the german government, army and navy and airforce by the end also shows my point about wiping the floor with them as the only choice was unconditional surrender or death. The heavy death toll to the allies was a high price, but the allies could have paid double that and had men to spare after...
Well it depends on how you read the sentence i would say. Meaning that they never did know that the Germans knew they were coming due to the range of the radar. That is all. Thanks.
