You know, it probably wasn't the intention with the art, but I feel that darkness could be a really cool mechanic for this theoretical fight. The arena itself is pitch black, only having your ink and the enemy's eyes producing light. The boss itself differentiates from inner agent 3 by being a lot more tricky and phase oriented. While the lights are out, Agent 404 (as I dubbed this boss) isn't actually in the arena, instead having 4 respawning copies that shift between trying to kill you and covering your ink to darken the arena. They wouldn't be super smart or difficult to kill, but are constantly respawning and hard to spot. In splatoon 2, octoling stages task you to destroy spotlights to free zapfish. In this case its the opposite, you have to find and turn on generators in the darkness. Once all 4 or 5 generators are turned on (probably by shooting them like the escort towers) the lights turn on and 404's shadow clones disappear, having you fight the real deal. The process resetting after each phase, but throwing a new twist every time. Probably wouldn't be as brutal of a fight as 3, but I think would be a cool unique battle with its own references to splatoon 2's campaign.
Because this takes place in a simulation where octolings won the great turf war, the darkness mechanic would make a lot of sense. They wouldn't have access to the great zapfish, causing everything to be dark except for the few screens surrounding the battlefield.
I love the idea of inner agent 4 as much as anyone else, but I am kind of glad it’s not a thing in game 1: side order wasn’t trying to be a complete repeat of Octo expansion. Doing the same secret final boss, even if it had some twists in the fight itself, would’ve just been repetitive. 2: be honest. Do you *really* want to go through that agony a second time? 3: we already have an inner agent 3 in splatoon 3. It’s called After Alterna. 4: with agent 4’s limited role in side order, it wouldn’t have made much sense for them to suddenly turn up as a secret final boss, unlike agent 3 where they’re referenced throughout the whole story. Not saying I _enjoy_ 4’s limited role in side order, but unless you wanna rewrite the story, I don’t see how it really fits together. But hey, who needs real dark souls-level boss fights when you have fanmade boss tunes?
My idea for this whole "Inner Agent 4" scenario is that it is supposed to be a look into an alternate timeline where the Octarians beat the Inklings. This virtual copy of Agent 4 would have been filled with the memories of the Octoling Soldiers trapped in the Memverse, making Agent 4 turn into a cold heartless splatting machine. Instead of the bleached white factory interior of every other floor, this one would have been an exact replica of the boss rooms from Splatoon 2. Screens would surround the arena, showing footage of Agent 4 splatting octoling soldiers. At the start of the battle, you would be given an armor case which equips you with elite octoling armor, activating Agent 4s security protocol.
After Alterna wasn’t too agonizing once you learned how to get through each section. The only tough part was the end, which was like girl power station 2.0
You said “Inner Agent 3 in Splatoon (3)! I check everywhere for it and the only Inner Agent 3 that is in splatoon is Splatoon (2)! So I was really looking forward for inner agent (4)!
it can be assumed that this is supposed to be the opposite of octoling rendezvous, and since the calamari inkantation motifs were the main focus of the song, it would be interesting if octoling rendezvous could be considered a "hellish" melody bc the calamari inkantation is constantly referred to as "the heavenly melody". ik its not canon but just a random thought i had :3
I always pictured Octoling Rendezvous as a "War March" for Octarians, because it only plays in levels where you face of against Octolings, who are some of the most powerful troops in the army. Instead of the "Heavenly Melody" making everyone get together and forget their differences, it would make everyone bitter angry. I'll probably end up making a reverse verion of this, where it's Octoling Rendezvous with Calamari Inkantation instrumentation.
I love the leitmotif integration! You did an amazing job making this sound like something you’d hear in game, to the point that you could convince someone that an inner agent 4 boss is hidden in Splat 3 somewhere.
I'm a huge fan of games and music that use motifs, especially when they tie in with a story. I tried my best to fit as many as I could, but I could only do so many! Hearing a familiar melody in a song is always such a cool experience for me, so I'm glad I'm able to make other people experience that same feeling.
Agent 4 is tired of being forgotten, so they seek out revenge with order during side order. “Is this what you wanted, Eight?” Agent 4 mutters during the intensifying harmony boss fight, “I never wanted anyone to get hurt….” Agent 8 says. “Stop lying.” Agent 4 screams. *suddenly, everything goes dark.*
i like this concept an ai replica of Agent 4 with no memories expect fighting octarians and no memories of making peace with them so there entire purpose to them is to destroy you
I could imagine inner agent 4 having a transforming weapon gimmick where he has one of every weapon class and simply summons a functioning replica of a particular weapon and has every special weapon and sub weapon from each game and has every color chips in the game Including every weapon specific color chip simultaneously with a temporary disarm attack that scrambles the players weapon kit temporarily
Idea if this was an actual boss: (this takes a few ideas from another comment) The entire arena is pitch black, excluding your ink, and the enemies eyes. Agent 404 isn’t actually in the arena, they are spectating, with 4 shadow clones in their stead. The clones are about as smart as the octolings from story mode. There would be 4 power rerouters, their location shown by spotlights above them. The clones die immediately as they touch the light, but they can still shoot through the light. As the phase progresses, and your reroute more power, the spotlights become dimmer, their radius decreasing and the clones only taking damage over time while inside. Once all 4 rerouters have been activated, floodlights would fill the arena with light, instakilling all clones, and forcing 404 to fight. During phase 2 and 3, 404 will provide suppressive fire, via specials. Once you beat agent 404 3 times, All the power rerouters will shut down, having all the floodlights shut down, forcing you to fight 404 and their clones, in the pitch black night. Oh, and all the clones infinitely respawn. Have fun!
1:23 Yeeeesssss!! I don't know if you were always going to put "Onward" in there, but thank you for doing it. This came out really nice. Congratulations on it :)
Parallel Canon would have really benefitted from having this song as its theme, or its final boss theme if the final boss was random and not just Smollusk.
The missed potential of parallel cannon is sad. Like when you first enter the stage it played the very first part taking you back to when you first played the octoling stages. Then it takes that nostalgia and drops the bombshell that parallel cannon is agent four a twisted clone at least and as you play your taking down the clones and listening to the remix, it just would have been ten times better.( at least for me I have the nostalgia because I beat splatoon 2’s campaign when I was 7 and my mom made a deal with me that if I beat the campaign I’d she’d let me play online)
What the Music for the Parallel Canon Bossfight should have been. The Music we got is pretty cool too but a Octoling Rendezvous Remix would have gone so hard
I like to imagine that once you complete all the pallets, Marina ask eight if they can test out the program security, which is based on agent 4. Imagine all the potential weapons (and trauma) we will have to face against four. This song will fit perfectly!
I really wish this was real. Agent 4 deserves a return, this theme perfectly encapsulates potential resentment from her being left behind. If we did have a Inner Agent 4 fight, this is the theme I'd pick for it, good work man! 🔥
this song makes me uncomfortable but I like it it reminds me of all those time I had to go through the courses fighting the octolings I always hated those courses it puts a sense of fear and nostalgia in me
I almost forgot for a hot second Agent 4 and Neo Agent 3 are like the biggest outliers in Splatoon, they're the only agents who are just random civilians who got dragged into some pretty fucked up stuff.
Tbh parallel canon is my favorite boss in side order. (Mainly because it’s in my opinion the easiest and most accessible by all the main weapons. Least favorite by far is asynchronous rondo because it a. Favors weapons with longer range and b. Somehow manages to show up every time I play roller.)
A cool idea I just came up with, if agent 4 was in side order as a boss other than parallel canon, have he/she be a encounter on a harder path, like say you were exclusively doing the hard/rigorous levels, agent 4 would have a chance to replace the upcoming boss, like you encounter asynchronous rondo and then agent 4 being dubbed "order filled security system" would one shot the boss and then you would fight them, with some line along the lines of "who is this? They look familiar..." Being said, and the reason order would send out them because they see eight as a larger threat and isn't fishing around anymore

Thank you for the kind words Windows XP Frog
@@WaffleMech You're welcome 🐸
What the Music for the Parallel Canon Bossfight should have been. The Music we got is pretty cool too but a Octoling Rendezvous Remix would have gone so hard
I wish they had more then just one map for the echo onslaught
I mean
Only one map makes it boring doesn't it?
I like to imagine that once you complete all the pallets, Marina ask eight if they can test out the program security, which is based on agent 4. Imagine all the potential weapons (and trauma) we will have to face against four. This song will fit perfectly!
I haven't heard a fansong this good since Altertale's Dynami v2 dropped 7 years ago.
ikr
I really wish this was real. Agent 4 deserves a return, this theme perfectly encapsulates potential resentment from her being left behind. If we did have a Inner Agent 4 fight, this is the theme I'd pick for it, good work man! 🔥
this song makes me uncomfortable but I like it it reminds me of all those time I had to go through the courses fighting the octolings I always hated those courses it puts a sense of fear and nostalgia in me
THIS IS SO FRESH!!! I love agent 4 sm thank you for ur service
this has no business slapping this hard??!!! LIKE HELLO??!!?
this is the best song ive ever heard
Parallel canon is the data copy of agent 4
didnt think we'd get a full version!!! good stuff!! been listening to the original since you dropped it!
I almost forgot for a hot second Agent 4 and Neo Agent 3 are like the biggest outliers in Splatoon, they're the only agents who are just random civilians who got dragged into some pretty fucked up stuff.
agent 3 and kinda agent 8 too.
You cooked so hard you did an amazing job!! You’re incredibly talented
Inner agent 4 have PTSD mode
I LOVE MY CALIMARI INKANTAION MOTIFS!!!!
YOO ITS AN INNER AGENT ME
I DECLARE THIS PERSON THE REAL AGENT 4 BECAUSE THE OTHER GUY IS CRINGE
BRO COOKED US A 4 COURSE MEAL
THIS NEEDS TO BE A FAN GAME NOW!!!!!
WE WON! TIME TO LOOP THIS FOR HOURS.
AGAHGSH I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR A VERSION OF OCTO REN LIKE THIS
Upon defeating Inner Agent 4, you can see them in the Grand Festival sitting beside the former Captain and DJ Octavio.
>:)
- Y’know, there was once a human language where the number 4 means death…
- just something I thought you might find interesting…
bro this is a banger wtf
(if you can please add this to spotify)
Now we just need it going for half an hour.
YESSS FINALLY THANK YOU SO MUCH THIS IS FANTASTICCC
Im so happy that this video is popping off man
Tbh parallel canon is my favorite boss in side order.
They look familiar..." Being said, and the reason order would send out them because they see eight as a larger threat and isn't fishing around anymore
this needs to be real fucking right now i wanna cry while fighting agent 4 (i never beat inner agent 3)
Try beating em now
Maybe you'll be better at the agent three fight

YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYY, As someone who started with splatoon 2, this means alot to me to hear and see, :D
AIYHFHHH IM GOING INSANE THIS IS SOOOOOO AWRSOME IM ACTUALLY FILLED WITH SO MUCH WHIMSY
Greyscaled Agent 4 the song
Man this is so cool! Time to listen to this on loop for the next 5 days XD
AGENT 4 FANS EATING TONITE!!!!!
I’d rather take this than Echo Onslaught tbh
wtf why does this give me chills
but overall it's really good i like it, it genuinely sounds like an official splatoon song
When inklings remove their limiters
WAIT I THOUGHT THIS WAS OFFICAL??
I’m gonna explode.
My brain is so disoriented. That sounds so cool!
OMG THIS IS AN ABSOLUTE BANGER WOWOWWOWOWOWOWOWOWOWOWOOWW THIS IS SO COOL
NEW SUB EEEEEEEE
YOU DID IT YOU DID IT i love you and this so much
DUDE THIS IS SICK!
Imagine inner agent 4 being a lot harder then inner agent 3
I wish this was actually in side order it’s so good!
Straight onto the splatoon playlist it goes! Thanks for making a full version 🎉
This should’ve been how the parallel canon boss theme should’ve sounded like
I can imagine some piece of dialogue where marina/acht says ‘This song seems a bit…familiar’
I like to think the one screen at the bottom playing octo expansion girl power station is Agent 4’s burning jealousy for Agent 8 that they pushed down
HELLLLLLLLLL YEAHHHHHHHHHHH THE MOMENT WE'VE ALL BEEN WAITING FORRRRRRR
