@@charlievanabbema82I think it would depend on your other specs as well. Honestly all you would need is the gt 1030 2gb card to run games. I play Destiny 2 without any issues with that card. But the base level specs they ask for Destiny 2 are i7, 8gb ram, and a minimum of a 2gb graphics card.

Everything is upgradeable but take in mind biggest limit... the power supply ~ 240 watts max.
I have one, is my main machine since 5 years, bellow ill list the upgrades that i did:
    Stock hardware:
    Core i5 3470
    8 gigs of ram (2x4gb)
2 crappy not remember what ati pcie cards (tried to play with these, just impossible)
    1tb hdd
    Todays hardware:
    Xeon E3-1270 v2
24 gigs of ram (added 2x8gb crucial modules)
1 gtx 750ti 2gb OC (planning to go to 1650ti since 1050ti has the same 75watts as tdp)
    1 ssd samsung evo 1tb
    1 hdd 2tb
The biggest challenge was the cpu upgrade, looking at the Dell's upgrade paper, they say that the most powerfull cpu supported is Core i7 3770s, looked on online stores to it, so expensive.
Reading here and there, found that the chipset is compatible with the xeon E3-12XX family, then googled to it. To my surprise there was people that flawlessly upgraded to some E3-1240 and 1235, at this point i wanted a Xeon too xD.
Pushed the limits and a few bucks for a used 1270v2. The seller told me, that he was giving a lot of these to people that were looking for the 3770s since its low tdp vs 3770.- Crossed my fingers and tadaaa, running smooth since a year.
    ********////////// ADVICE ////////////********************////////// ADVICE ////////////********************////////// ADVICE ////////////**********
If you plan to upgrade to XEON, you need an PCIE graphics card on place, its a server processor so the boundled Ivy Bridge graphics is not present on it.
    Hope this information helps, greets!

Used my old 2TB HD from the computer it's replacing. Grabbed a GTX 1050ti ($169). Will do a ram upgrade later. Streams 4K like a dream (on 3 monitors at the same time). Good video, just purchased one of these off eBay for my wifes new work at home call centre job.
Wanted to see what inside the case looked like to see what I was working with.
Now I know the correct size of SSD bracket I will need for this case. (screws line up)
Kinda wish there was space to keep both SSD & HDD... I may be able to once I see it in person... Something crude... But... For the SSD thermals... Likely best I just forget about the HDD.
I doubt she will need to use much storage on her job, so the 250gb Crucial MX500 should be plenty on it's own!

The dell optiplex series was MADE for these upgrades. It’s so easy to flip them for a profit because of how cheap you can find em on the second hand market since they’re in bulk (I got mine for free from my dads work). Chuck in a gpu, a lil more ram and an ssd and boom a good mid range pc for the price of a console.

Also for the 7010 SFF, if I buy the, low profile Gigabyte 1650 OC Gddr6 will it work the same as the Gddr5?
      Mxkdi
who made this video, has it in his list of compatible GPUs. I'm just wondering if the Gddr6 will work to its full capacity since I read that it needs 85w where as the Gddr5 only needs 75w.

Is it possible to install 7010 SFF motherboard into a regular tower case?
Also, I just noticed that unlike my other Optiplex (3020, 9010, 9020), 7010 PSU is using 20/24pin PSU to the motherboard.

  • @TheJimmyCartel
    @TheJimmyCartel Год назад

Generally speaking, you only want to push your psu to about 50% load. Given that the whole pc only used like 80-100watts, i would say adding a 1050ti hurts the already old 240w powersupply. Adding something better then a gt 1030 warrents a bigger psu imo. Lowers its lifespan.
If anyone in the comments is doing this to there own pc, its worth keeping in mind.

Who needs a DVD it anymore? Even in case someone should still want it, they could buy an adapter for connecting the very same unit externally to an USB port for about $9.

300w is just to cover the gpu makers back. They recommend more just to be safe, say for instance you had a cpu that used more wattage, then the system would need a bigger psu. As someone said even under load any gpu under 75w tdp which is required because this build has no power cable for a gpu it can only draw power from the pcie slot.

Only if the card maker says it's optional like some Nvidia 1050's, otherwise no. The motherboard is a (U)ATX case, but a bit longer on the side with the 24 pin power connector. It will fit in a Mid tower or a micro-tower with the power supply on top. That way you can use an ATX power supply and full height card. There is a thread on the Linus user forums with discussion on this.

Aren't the PCI specs too low in power for that card? Not to mention the power supply itself is too small for such a demanding card. How well does it work in the system?

hey dude, where'd you get that power supply from? mine's an original but it has no 80+ certification at all and it already is damn expensive.
the first one blew up, and so is the second psu, and now i worry i'd get the same result the next time i purchase these. having an 80+ certification would ease my insecurity.

Hi. I installed Gforce 1050 TI and after Gforce GT 730 but my monitor was dark, no signals came out. With the original chip I have signals but I couldn`t install the drivers. I updated the bios but no win. Any opinion?

Hi so I have a small form factor exactly like yours and would like to upgrade the graphics card, but im not sure it will fit, im deciding wither to put XFX AMD Radeon RX 460 4GB GDDR5 or ZOTAC GeForce GT 730 Zone Edition 4GB DDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16. Can you recommend a graphics card that will work with bf4 on high settings without having to spend $200 bucks as well as to change the power supply? Thanks

The pci maximum output on the Dell Optiplex 7010 SFF is 50 w. But the GTX 1050 Ti uses an average wattage of 75 w isn't that an overkill gpu? And can you actually fry the pci slot and some other components? @Mxkdi
