- Choosing an optional can be a nightmare. Four simple ways to think about choosing the optional are:
1. Consider whether you have taken that subject in undergrad or grad
2. Whether you have an active interest and curiosity in the subject
3. Whether you have enough time to prepare for it?
4. Whether it is a technical subject and scoring or not?

Sir I have zoology in my college. Should I take it as an optional. The base is not really strong since our classes were normal. But opting for a complete diff subject would also be tough. Please do try to answer.

What should be the level of an optional subject live graduation level or post graduation level...as many of us try to opt for PG in that subject and even if the aspirant is trying to opt for the optional subject which differs from graduation so is it fair to consider doing post graduation for that matter.

Sir, I am in state of confusion. I don't want to join any coaching for upsc preparation but my parents want me to join. I feel that success doesn't depend on coaching. But my father thinks that it's mandatory to have coaching as guides you in the best way possible. Kindly guide me. If not coaching, then from where can I get good guidance?
