Im very impressed with this little DeWalt so far. Ive sunk it twice in a pond and a ton of mower starts on top of normal use. Also have rigid and Milwaukee drills/impacts but very little abuse. Sadly they r all owned by the same chinese company.
Moondog 1 yah good drills but they a lot of money. If you want them to last man, you gotta take it easy with them. Lol. What I mean is (only use em for what they are intended for) I still have one of my drills I bought back in 2005. Works like new man.
Tyler Binkowski every fucking day pal! I won’t fucking destroy my expensive ass Dewalt and Milwaukee drills by starting a lawn mower with em! Guy probably got metal shavings and stuff rattling inside that drill from using it to start that mower. He just don’t know cause he can’t hear. I took apart a drill that was extremely bad shape but the user didn’t know because he couldn’t hear the shit rattling inside when he used it. I work for towing and recovery. Everyday I’m in the shop working on big trucks, cars, etc. I’m a operator though. I drive a 75 ton rotator wrecker. When I do towing, I have to take off the drive shaft, sometimes axles. A drill is required for that. I own a bunch of drills over the years. I use my drill everyday pal
I had one that needed the spark plug to be removed aswell. Things happened and I had to get rid of it. Chargers were pressed. No further information will be given.
Long time ago, I remember my dad asking me to hold the spark plug and see if it lights up. I lit up like a Christmas tree and pissed myself, I was 4. I am now a 20+year experienced small engine guy lol
You can use a long screwdriver by touching the spark plug tip with plug boot removed of course, and ground the handle end of the screwdriver on engine case (earth) as a kill switch too it saves you removing plug wire everytime
I've been helping this older gentleman downt eh street from me he has an antire yard of mowers tractors trucks and engines he wanted me to help him get them running so I said yes this guy gave me a trailer and said 3 lawn mowers a day for a week and the trailer and presure washers yours
Been using on my Melanie front reel brigs Stratton (vertical )for years this way. Only prob is it cranks governor way up and I run the yard like a mad man at full speed
DeWalt really need to address this issue. I use to work 200-300 feet up and I'd use my big impact all the time only issue is that dam ball and spring would not keep the socket properly on all of the time.
This will kickback and break your drill shaft into,it done it to my brand new dewalt 20 volt half inch drill driver combo, and that big socket flying out through the yard hits somebody in the mouth or kills your dog, it's all fun and games, it's not a matter if it will break, it's when it will break, I thought the same thing until that think recoilled back and broke my drill motor shaft into, have fun be careful
No doubt, or it will break your wrist if you're not a big dude. Bosch supposedly makes a drill that releases before kickback can damage anything, but for the price you can just buy a new mower.
BEWARE OF PROJECTILES!! AND rope that is too long. I wrapped the rope around the pulley too far and the motor took off with it when I started it, tangling the rope and taking the throttle cable with it. Luckily, the cable wasn't attached to the throttle yet, or the pull and acceleration from that might have made a bigger mess. It tore my hand up when I reached for the kill switch that was right next to the open fan blade swinging the rope and metal throttle cable until it got too twisted and tore itself off. Then, it was clear to hit the switch. That 301cc motor, man. My hand was swollen like a red balloon.
Reduce the slipper clutch torque on the drill, and turn the mover to tdc so it won’t kick back. If y’all think this is dangerous I bet you haven’t seen how many people straighten bent mower cranks with a sledge hammer/floor jack. Cast iron isn’t known for its malleableness- if it cracks the spinning blade will be ‘set free’ quite violently
All the danger comments crack me up. Most of my videos are unlisted videos of me falling off a dirt bike or atv trying to wheelie or shooting videos. RUclips is soft.
I prefer to give the Blade a quick spin by hand - danger of flying sockets then averted. (just because we know there are people out there that might take this as actual advice - please note ..... this suggestion is not serious .... you may lose your fingers and your mower might take off). Be sure to shout "contact" if you decide to exercise your lack of intellect.....it will embellish the experience for onlookkers.
I just picked up a JD L110 for $400. I hope I don't have to drill start it..... The mower in the video puked all the oil out the muffler and lost compression. RIP free mower. Got a couple years out of it!
Wait till that socket bops you in the nose and breaks the oakleys off yourface. But yet i still impact start my old 18 horse generators and anything else missing a starter haha.

I appreciate the view and it made me laugh again. Thanks!

I got the same thing for my leaf blower 😆
Loonatic, that made me laugh hand nearly doing a 360° then sling shots the socket 30 feet
Too bad the mower died. It puked all of its oil out of the muffler. Zero compression almost now.

Wouldn't be the first or last time!
With a drill lmao
True
Not really if he used the clutch on the drill
Also a free way to brake your arm or wrist and or drill
I'd say you got your moneys worth out of that one for sure lol
That socket almost knocked you out
When you’re really southern and your crank breaks off your lawnmower, so you have to improvise
Off switch is cracking me up
I did that on a 3hp rototiller. Best modification on a $30 tiller I got running

I can't believe that thang ran with the rusty ass spark plug lmao. 😂

Ooh a lawn mowing socket thrower
Still it’s a great way to quickly start a mower without destroying it due to anger
That’s my off switch I love it
I love screwed up lawnmowers so much

Very nice to start engine nice work

I've done something like that with a 440 sled needed a much bigger drill though one of those old masonry drills they weigh like 45 lb
That socket almost became final destination lolol
Haha. Imma have to do this with my tiller.
Wowzerz bro 😂
That's how I used to start an old power washer
Time for a new lawn mover
So much for good connection to the spark plug

You can afford DeWalt but can't get another mower
It's a new yard. First few mowers are going to have a hard life!
DeWalt really need to address this issue. I use to work 200-300 feet up and I'd use my big impact all the time only issue is that dam ball and spring would not keep the socket properly on all of the time.
Seems safe!
The Socket Slinger™️
Mines still got the pole starter, but I have to shut it off by choking the carburetor with the throttle
The socket died another way but he ain’t dying from the lawn mower
