As a content creator, I learned, for me, the enjoyment of creating/sharing videos is the most important thing. Also, when I started getting caught in the views/likes/subscribers trap, I lost focus of my original goals/objectives. My original goals/objectives were to enjoy making videos of the neighborhoods of my home town, New Orleans, from the perspective of a bicycle, to share with viewers how beneficial and enjoyable riding a bicycle is in learning about and getting around where one lives, to learn the new skills of recording videos and using editing and color correction software, and most importantly, to get outdoors and ride a bike often and for several hours.
Thank you for sharing about your own RUclips journey. I very much agree with the enjoyment stemming from the creative process, rather than focusing on the numbers. If the act of creating itself is not enjoyable, I personally do not think having a channel is worth it. Life is too short to focus on things that do not bring us true satisfaction. All the best with your own channel, I will be checking it out. 😊
if i had a button that would instantly delete all social media from existence and ban its creation, I would not hesitate. I miss how connected we all were just 20 years ago....
i miss how fun it was to go outside and see kids playing in the streets during my childhood and go to the pool with them and see kids at the park or kids riding bikes. now when i go outside i never see any kids outside playing and having fun. maybe just a couple of people going for a walk 😭
I try to stay balanced by allowing myself to be authentic in my videos. I’m human & I’m not perfect but that’s ok. - I was captivated by the thumbnail & blown away by the quality of this. Gloriously underrated. Don’t you ever stop posting
When I was a kid I'd spend hours a day in a reading room browsing magazines and newspapers and also watching a lot of TV to get content. Also, borrowing books from library to read.
Another great reminder for me to limit my media / screen time and spend more time outdoors and with family and friends. I closed most of my social media accounts a few years ago.. RUclips is the only one I am on. I have a note to myself to limit time watching and spend more time going out and doing things for real. It is fun to watch someone's hiking video, but much better to get out and hike myself.( as an example) I am also thinking of taking longer breaks from all electronic devices.. I dream of just spending a month disconnected living in a basic cabin deep in the woods, an oil lamp for light, wood stove and some books. Thanks for another thoughtful video. I'm sure you are inspiring people to get out and enjoy life more!
Thank you for sharing! Everything you said resonates with me. I too am thinking about taking an extended break this year from devices/media to do a dopamine fast. Your description of the cabin in the woods sounds like such a nice way to do that. I dream of that as well. Thank you for your kind words & support 🙏
Wow thanks again for your video. I love the way of you story telling and the way you deliver a message. It gave me a lot of reflection questions for myself, my channel, my use of social media. With my RUclips channel I recognized, the things that I teach, the connection to nature, being more outside, that is something that I am not able to do, because of the constant need of producing content. Mostly I stuck in front of my computer, editing the videos where I am walking in the forest but not actually doing it, just for this great shot. This realization brought me out of this pressure of constantly needing to produce content to feed the algorithm, producing to keep up, get more views... It is so fake. The passion that drove me, was inspire people, create a spark of light for people in challenging times, but it became a intense pressure of not being enough, producing and performing. Now since a few months of this break I felt so free, free from this pressure, free from expectations. I wish you will find your way. Thank you for reading this far. 🌱🌿🌊
Thank you for sharing about your own journey with having a RUclips channel. I find it very relatable! I think it can be so easy to let that pressure to create, create, create, take over. I've definitely felt it. I love your original purpose for doing it though. It can be challenging to do, but focusing on those deeper reasons for why you're creating in the first place can also relieve the pressure. Thank you again 🙏
it is so nourishing and relieving to hear this. i don’t feel like i ever hear anyone talk about this as a creator. i’ve lost myself to social media and the dopamine way too many times and having to refocus on what i originally started my channel for.
I'm glad to hear it resonated with you. I think it's a topic we need to all be discussing more as creators and consumers. We are all affected by the way these platforms were designed to reward us and keep us seeking more. It's not foolproof, but having that awareness can be so helpful and I hope more creators can become aware. All the best with your own channel! ☺️
Yes. But it's our job to allow people to know they can be their authentic selves. And you show them how beautiful and resonant at can be. We are the beacons!
your videos are so inspiring to me. I think a lot about the stuff you talk about in your videos and when i found your channel it was a goldmine for me. Your right it's not about how much people you reach but it's the impact you have on the few people you do reach
Wow, thank you. I am so glad to hear that. It's always nice connecting with a like-minded person who contemplates the same topics as I do. Thank you so much for your time watching the video and for commenting 🙏
I think your content is very important. But I really hope that you enjoy doing it for your own reasons and not only for the attention and everything that comes with it. I also do RUclips with another account and I really like it. But I'm not playing the game. I create when I want and I don't care about the numbers. It's people in my environment who tell me how many followers I already have. But I don't care, because I would also do it if there was only one. I think it's important to be happy in the process of creating. ❤
Thank you! I do enjoy it for my own reasons, one of them being I enjoy it as a way to process my thoughts in a creative way. But that's not to say there aren't challenges or aspects I don't like sometimes. But for me, it's an overall net positive and so I'm motivated to continue. I admire your approach to your own channel. I agree it's important to be happy while creating.

So much can change in such a short period of time. I miss that as well!

And thank you! 🙏 That is such a huge compliment.
thank you.
You're welcome!

To think this sounds so nostalgic now.
Love this content. You are another me. I love what's happening in our community. We're coming out beautiful sister! ❤
This is my first time seeing your page. And I LOVED this. Subscribed. Can't wait to connect! This is the golden era of the authentic creator.
Thank you for this beautifully created video. It's exactly what I needed to hear. I'm tired of the social media hamster wheel.
You're welcome! I'm so glad to hear that.
Thank you for your comment 🙏

Awesome, balancing. By the way, at 06:11 the piano melody begins the instant you hit the keyboard. Intended or not, that's poetic!
Hey thanks! I think that was a happy coincidence, but I like how that turned out as well. Thank you 😊
Great video! ❤ I really enjoyed your reflections!
Thank you very much 🙏💙
I spent over 8 hours attempting to learn how to edit in DaVinci resolve. This video feels like a message from the source. Thank you for making it.
*8 hours today
You're welcome! I'm glad to hear it came at a good time.
great content, thank you.❤
