It's great you've taken up piano again. You play well too! You said it right, "a slower approach to the internet". It's good to be intentional about our behaviour instead of habitually reaching for the device and endlessly scrolling. I started wood carving this summer (trying to scale back on screen time) and spent a good deal of time outdoors, watching the sky, and listening to birds and insects while practicing patience with the carving process. Thoughtful video, as usual!
'I went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately, to front only the essential facts of life, and see if I could not learn what it had to teach, and not, when I came to die, discover that I had not lived." -Henry David Thoreau (American author)
I experience flow when cycling around New Orleans and it's suburbs. Along with the incredible sense of flying, the flow state I enter is another main reason I enjoy cycling for hours, . One cannot be distracted while cycling through/around urban areas, because one will quickly become roadkill.
@@MarioLorenzo reading your comment made me want to go for a long bike ride. 😊 And you make a good point about the necessity of focus in that case. Thank you for sharing!
I like the "For a star to be born" and the "93% stardust" quotes✨
Thank you so much. This video was amazing. I used to experience flow when writing, but I haven't experienced it in a while. Hopefully I can again soon!
@@AustinChubak thank you 🙏 I wish you many uninterrupted writing sessions to come.
My flow is researching singularity in all spiritual forms of thought. Reintroducing myself to foraging for better health and well being. And remain disconnected from normal life. Ground as often as possible. Let earth resonance be my resonance. Live in a tent. Never go to town. When in silence and solitude the true meaning of human "being" springs forth naturally and spontaneously. Thanks again for your work. Blessings 💙
@@bearshelton7809 thank you for sharing 🙏 I love it all. Blessings to you as well 💙

What a wonderful video. Actual information that is unique instead of the same repeated themes on other channels. My library has the book Stolen Focus and I will definitely read it. Thanks for the advice and the book suggestion.
@@Carole616 thank you 🙏 I am so glad you think so! I hope you enjoy the book!
I agree with everything you have said and I would like to add an idea. I think that in order to choose how we spend our time and overcome the hormonally guided temptations of our environment we need a strong willpower (now more than ever). I have been reflecting on meditation lately and in my opinion what lies behind training to focus is to strengthen our willpower, i.e. our power to do what we (or the laziest or most primitive part of us) do not want to do. So it is our wanting (of the most conscious part of us) to focus what makes us focus. It is like the Alar (if you have read The Name of the Wind), which is trained to believe what we want to believe, even if it is something impossible (in this case applied to believing instead of doing).
@@lantcalen thank you so much for sharing your thoughts, especially about strengthening willpower. I agree having the desire to focus certainly helps. I have never read The Name of the Wind but look forward to checking it out! 🙂
I've been focusing on meditation too. Like so many people, one of the most difficult parts of developing a meditation practice is exactly what you suggested: it's difficult to do what we don't naturally want to do: sit quietly and focus our minds. My meditation teacher has encouraged me to try and develop a love for all that my breath brings to my life, so that I will eventually WANT to sit down and meditate regularly, as I will look forward to focusing on the breath I love. It's helping!
@@AwakenOurWild if you like fantasy books I think you would like it! By the way, your crow drawing is very beautiful 😊
@@tedpreston4155 oh yeah, that is a very good advice! I will keep it in mind for my practice
@@tedpreston4155 I love the idea of developing a love for the breath, and ultimately enjoying the meditation process more as a result. Thank you for sharing!
That is why I limit my screen time and spend time unplugged from the internet, it is easy to spend too much time on manipulated information. One of the many benefits of spending time in nature is just getting away from all of the noise. I have also went back to reading paper books , taking my time to enjoy one task at a time.
@@keithl6249 I couldn't agree more! Thank you for sharing 🙏

My rewilding goals are to go on a trail run once a week, take my boys on at least one backpacking trip a year and multiple camping trips, and try to harvest more from our property; either wild or from a garden. My young sons have inherently been drawn to this concept, pushing us to harvest wild elderberries, rose hips, and blackberries. We also just harvested some fish from our pond last night for dinner. It has been a fun experience together. Thanks for your insights and motivation to get outside and reconnect with nature and ourselves!
@@BackyardBiologyBoys thank you for sharing your rewilding goals! Those all sound wonderful. I think it's awesome that your sons are naturally drawn to wanting to forage. I find many children in my forest school program are naturally drawn to incorporate foraging, fire making, and fishing into their pretend play. It definitely seems innate. You're welcome!! 🙏

Because of my acute anxiety of leaving my little rural home, I only go out to walk Madge, my rescue greyhound, or to put rubbish at the end of my shared private lane. But I love walking in the nature that is all around me here from my front door, and feel very lucky - there is no passing traffic where my little house is. I treasure every moment when I take Madge out, and thank the trees as I pass under them. I love to see what wild animals I may be lucky enough to see - and I see hares (rarely, and feel so blessed when I do see them, as they are magical) rabbits, deer, foxes, owls, buzzards, Canada Geese (for 7 years they have had a nest in the wildlife pond in a field near me, but they did not come at all this year) butterflies (very few this year) and bees (very few again this year) and to hear the bird song, which has been much less this year too here in West Devon, England. I love always looking down on the river, when Madge and I walk over the little bridge every morning, just to hear the sound of the water calms my spirit. I am so lucky it is so peaceful here, as I am a highly sensitive person, so feel so grateful that this is where I live. Thank you for your lovely video. Blessings from Jilly & Madge xxx
@@jillychandler thank you for sharing! I am happy to hear you are in an area filled with the calm and peace of nature. Those moments you described sound so beautiful. Sending you blessings as well 💙
Hello, I was wondering, if I can share with you the most important thing. God the Father sent His holy Son Jesus to earth, to be born of a virgin. He grew up and died on the cross for our sins. Then He was put into a tomb for 3 days, after that Abba Father raised Jesus to life.He appeared to people, and went back to heaven. We all must sincerely receive Jesus into our life to be God's child. See John 1:12 for this please. Will you today genuinely by faith receive Jesus into your life for salvation?

We've turned off the news and tuned into simple living
@@motorhomemavericks1 I love to hear it! ☺️
Simple doesn't necessarily mean easy as some might think, that's my thought. Simple living to me is self sufficiency, using basic or "old" tools to do so. If I wanted to grow a garden, and wanted to make it easy, there would be an endless amount of stuff to buy and those things would make it easy but not as fulfilling. In every hobby there is endless abouts of things to buy. I have had a lot of nice things, I don't want to be caught up in that any longer. I want a small "farm" where the work is hard but the fulfilment and gratefulness is never ending.
@@onearmeverything6000 thank you for sharing your thoughts! I couldn't agree more. I value the simple but sometimes more difficult ways of accomplishing things because it's more fulfilling, and does prevent me from accumulating too many gadgets and things that in the end, may make some things easier but are unnecessary.

Thank you for your message, it feels like it echos what I sit in an office telling my coworkers every day (probably not considered the best employee when I'm telling everyone to follow their dreams instead!) and taking us along for the journey, thank you!
@@Oli_Thompson thank you so much for your support and kind words!! ☺️🙏💙
I barely got through high school and never write but lately have been thinking about writing about this. More people need to understand it. My family used to be so poor we would cut would all day and live off game meat. It taught me so much. I live in Wisconsin and so many people think Milwaukee or the Packers but if one of those things lost a few of its biggest investors they'd fall apart. It's all so volatile. The land and life around us outside of a plastic city is forever. Or at least will be here past us. Im 26 and have found most of the problems and growth we need in life can be found in simplifying and taking away the excess. We're already what we need to be. Ive never seen anyone else that thinks this way. Maybe that the beauty in it.
