    I'm still on a 2020 M1 MBP (the 13inch one), 1TB SSD, 16GB memory and it did not let me down a single time yet. A few dozens of tracks, any VST I feel like using, some audio tracks, all along with a bunch of effects. It doesn't matter, I just slap them on it. Not a single crackle. The only time it struggled a bit was when I put Ozone 10 on the master of 30 track song. Adjusted bitrate from 64 tot 128, and it was fixed. Mind you this is still in Rosetta mode, because Native Instruments are not yet full M1 native. I'm using Ableton but I guess it should not differ too much if you're using Logic. So yeah, those M1/M2 Pro's look really tempting, but my current Macbook is still more than powerful enough.

I think I’ll go that way, anyone have any suggestions or advice? Whichever one I get I most likely spec it all the way out no matter what cause even when I buy the M3 I will still have uses for the M1

  • @FourthKindBeats
    @FourthKindBeats Год назад +10

    Dope video man appreciate you taking the time to make this but there’s a lot of misleading info here. M1 is not more powerful. The m2 base config ssd (256gb) is slower than the m1 ssd but once you upgrade the m2 to the 512gb ssd it’s faster. Everything else including single core and multi core performance is better on the m2 and single core performance is very important with music production. Also 512gb is not a good idea for music production. 1tb should be your base due to large sample libraries and apples use of memory swapping which utilizes the storage to help offload the ram usage when it’s not available. Also having to lug around slower external ssd’s is not ideal. At that point look at the Mac mini or a desktop as an option if you’re gonna be stationary. If you’re doing music production as a hobby then some of these options will be fine but if you’re looking to take music production/engineering more seriously then I would save my money and get a higher specked mac. Otherwise you’ll be looking to get a new pc in a couple of years and have wasted money when you could of just saved a bit more for something that will last you much longer. Just my 2 cents
