- Is boxing good for street fights? I don't recommend street fighting but if you need to defend yourself from bullies or attackers, boxing is one of the best self-defense you need to learn. Even just the basics of boxing will help you throw proper punches that will help you win a fight in just a few seconds.

Is boxing good for a street fight? let me know👇👇
Teach me pls
Well , put you it it to you this way. You never want fight on the street especially if you live in the United States like me and you live in a conservative state like Nevada or Texas, where people can carry guns
With that being said assuming that your opponent is unarmed your best bet is probably going to be using boxing in a street fight I wouldn’t use jujitsu in a street fight.
Not that I have anything against jujitsu we’re talking about a street fight jujitsu isn’t meant for rolling around on the asphalt or concrete.
Chances are you are not grappling; in street fight. Maya martial arts instructor said if the guy is bigger than you and stronger heck kick the guy in the balls and run or grab something to use on the street like a trash can, a baseball bar, brass knuckles anything goes in a street figjt. Remember this is not a boxing ring or the octagon, there’s no referee there are no judges and there are no rules
Remember the street fight anything goes there are no referees or judges I don’t care if you have to grab a baseball bat trashcan whatever you can find or kick the guy in the balls and run if he’s bigger there are no rules in the street fight the beauty of a streetfighters if you’re opponent happens to be unarmed then you can fight dirty and I encourage it I would say we need to BRAWL o I agree street fighting is bad, we should not do it you don’t know if the guy has a gun.
Boxing is horrible in a street fight. You have to be a brawler in a street fight.
Too risky
@@indigameriseminalindianI actually agree but boxing is better than say BJJ or wrestling
I had a mate who went out in town on a friday night, he used his boxing skills and knocked down the bloke....who smacked his head on the pavement and died within 12 hours. My mate was sentenced for 12 years but will always be on license for the rest of his life. So he ended the fight 'in half a second' but you have no idea how much he wished he had walked away
I have a similar story, my brother and I were hanging outside of a bar and laughing when a dude staggered by, drunk as all hell, and thought we were laughing at him. He got aggressive and started swinging his hands and his bottle at us, I've never really been in a fight before this so I just dodged and tried to attract his attention from my brother. He came at me again and I instinctively punched him in the side of the head, he fell and hit his head on a metal chair. I don't know what happened to him after the ambulance took him away, but I'm extremely lucky there were cameras and that he swung first, and had the bottle which was deemed a weapon. I was very close to being in the same position as your friend. I'm sorry for him and you, man.
A guy I went to school with took up boxing after we left school. On a night out, some drunk guy apparently started on him. The drunk guy was over 6 feet tall, and he's about 5ft8in. He punched the drunk guy twice, and the second punch knocked him to the ground, fracturing his skull on the pavement and died shortly after. He was never sentenced.
@@spiderman01980shits sad but people like that are asking for serious injuries or death by willingly drinking garbage alcohol knowing it makes you not think and become aggressive
Pfff i only can imagine how much he wishes that it never happened
Bloke probably died of embarrassment after his brain stopped bouncing
I knew a guy who was a really great boxer that got in a street fight after a hockey game and kicked the other guys ass. Unfortunately, he did not beat the other guys friends who showed up and stomped him. Ended up in the hospital with a broken jaw and arm. Fighting some random person on the street is always moronic and never worth it, walk away.
Yeah street fights have no rules so you never know.. But the thing is and most cases. Hopefully it would just be a one-on-one and people wouldn't be little bitches who send friends after them on top of that 😅
Agree.
Would've also happened to a MMA fighter vs 5 Hell's Angels so not a good comment. 5 hyenas can defeat one male lion.
It's easy to say just walk away .
But understand this .... if someone makes an attempt to physically assault you " first" , you have no choice but to fight back and defend yourself .
So turning your back and walking away is not always an available option .
Specifically if the other person is on the attack !!!!
@@clementjohnson2666 true. I'm not a saying knowing how to fight it wrong. But the only time I can imagine a scenario where somebody is so dedicated to fighting you and walking away is not an option is if it's some sort of random crazy person that gets the jump on you. In which case you probably wouldn't see it coming anyhow.
Fighting in the street is downright dangerous, don't do it, walk/ run away.

In my late 20s, I was playing pool at an upscale billiards parlor in the afternoon. No alcohol was served. Went outside and a guy started a fight with me. I had been boxing at that point for more than half my life. I easily put him down. Three of his friends jumped in. The first two were rookies and went down. However, the last guy kicked my butt. He had much better skills than I had. Maybe at the professional level. I was a bloody mess and it took weeks to recover. Now, I always retreat if possible. Never street fight. Too many variables and unknowns. Just walk away.
Yes these cowards today will attack mob handed .one on one day's are long gone.
1-1-2 combo on the street and the fight is usually over after the combo
I think a hook will make him see the after life 😆 🤣
Yes mate haha
I saw a vid and a guy was stuned by 1 and knocked out by 1-2
For someone with explosive punch power like me it only takes one hook to the jaw or temporal lobe
It’s weird for a person who dun know about boxing to see somebody strike twice with a left hand, while the person is confused, the straight punch comes
Tony is very right always walk away only fight if you have to protect yourself or your family fighting is always last choice
Any martial art of combat sport is better than nothing. Even if the martial art is more of a sport than actual fighting, knowing how to throw a punch and take a hit is important
Agree ,though you pick up dirty tricks in the dojo .As I mentioned on here in 8 years of kumite one of my favs I picked up was a hard kick in the shins ( nobody expects that or can block it if not expecting it ) then when the other guy pauses in pain I used to follow up with a (pulled chudan punch ,or another body kick .
Trouble is I got known for that in the dojo ,so the other guys were always watching for it .
But on the street if you can't avoid aggro it's a great thing to remember. And of course it hurts even when kicked with bare feet .in the street with shoes on its really painful.
Any martial art that involves sparring will be good enough for 99% of the population. If we talk boxing, just getting in your stance, keeping your lead arm somewhat extended and circling away will be pretty useful. If you start firing the jab to the nose, most fights will be over, if not, throw a right hand behind it and you have a knockout.
This right here, that’s why anything where you train real combat. At real combst speed, prepare you more for it. Then anything else

Boxing also allow us to fight more than one opponent depending on the situation. Jiu jitsu is very efficient, but can be dangerous if you have more than one aggressor.

Funny you should mention prison when I was there the worst injuries I saw were from the scoop and body slam.. usually on concrete the sound of a head getting cracked is something you don't forget.

When my dad was at university the uni amateur boxing champion got in a pub fight with a local rough alcoholic. Apparently the alco got in close and bit onto the boxer’s nose and just wouldn’t let go. Finally! A self defence teacher on youtube who makes sense. Thank you for not advocating complex 1-2-3 combos that only a trained martial artist can perform
the downside of being a good fighter is that when you win a fight, the law blames you. Even if you defend yourself because then you have to prove that it was self defence.
Not true. If you are not an amateur or a pro fighter the law cannot do anything to you if it's self defense.
self defence has to be proven in court. i don't know where you're from but in the united states you are guilty until proven innocent. admitting to self defence makes you admit that you fought the aggressor, which confirms that you were involved in beating up the aggressor, but then you have to prove that you beat up the aggressor from self defence. trust me i have first hand experience. Unless you defend yourself in front of plenty of witnesses or video cameras, try not to get caught for it. @@maxv6837

Boxing is great because all streets fights start standing up and usually throwing punches or pushing Boxing teaches footwork, head movement, defense, how to punch, how to take a punch, self control, and you should be in good shape to fight.
Agreed. Boxing is a great foundation for skill, and is practical and simplistic in its techniques. Boxing gets right to the point, so it can be learned and applied much quicker too. I seen 2 dudes hold off a gang of 6 at the orange Show in Cali in the 90s. These dudes went back to back and annihilated those clowns. They had the stance and the power. I knew they were boxers. It gave them an advantage.
When I was 15 years old. I went to a local boxing gym. A local fighter got challenged by a street fighter. The street fighter was actually in fairly good shape and could throw a solid 1-2. I saw the boxer give him a ass whooping he will remember forever. Coach had to stop it after 2 rounds 😂

Took up boxing. 6 months. Learned the Floyd Patterson peek-a-boo style (this was in the late 70's). Took up tai kwan do, ju-jitsu, and judo (6 months also). Both styles were more than enough for the average street fighter. Both instructors told me the best defense on the streets is to run, as fast as i can, use what i learned for sticky situations when my back was against the wall. I didn't listen. Hey, i was 13 years old at the time. A year goes by, and i finally get my chance to show my superior fighting skill. It was in high school. Me and this dude locked up, i hit him with a 4 pc (face, face, chest, lower stomach). He immediately folded up, hit the ground, and coughed up 2 teeth. He got up and said, "Oh, you know how to box?" I knodded. He said, "Ok, then next time we scrap, I'll just have to shoot you in the head." That was the last fight i ever had using any of the techniques i learned. The 2 very important things I learned that day were: 1. Those instructors were 1000% right about running first and 2. Neither Floyd Patterson nor Bruce Lee can whoop a bullet's a**!
Yeah and then everyone started clapping and ur crush kissed u in the lips
I find the best way to end a fight is cuddle with the person and whisper sweet things in the attackers ear

Just don't get over confident in a street fight because you can box. There are no rules. Next thing you know, the other guy pulls out a 10" knife or a gun. Let's be honest, if the other guy pulls out a weapon, it's gonna get used. You're likely toast.

I used to fight a lot back in my teens and early 20s. I knocked out 3 people in street fights, and each time, I was worried that they wouldn't wake up. I still do some boxing drills, but thats just to stay in shape. No fight is worth going to prison for. I'm not even trying to sound tough or brag or anything, because it doesn't really matter, but I can punch very hard with both hands, and one of those punches could seriously damage, or kill somebody. I'm 32 now, and the only time I'm fighting, is if my family is in danger. That's it. I used to never back down from a fight, but nowadays, I'm just walking away. I know what I'm capable of, and if people think that makes me weak, then I don't even care. I'm all about self-improvement. If it doesn't benefit my life, then theres no point. Fighting could go extremely wrong.
Very basic boxing skills (and I'm talking extremely basic) saved me when I got stabbed. I've got neck issues so I've never gone hard on sparring but learning not to flinch and seeing where a hit is gonna land gave me the instinct to throw my shoulder into where the knife was heading instead of taking it in the chest. There was no way to dodge with how fast he closed the distance but I knew that it was hitting my heart if i didn't do something. It just knicked the artery going to my heart because of how I shifted. I never would have been able to process those movements if not for having just the little bit of practice that I've had, and I didn't even throw a punch in that situation.
Boxing definitely does work in street fights, there's been many examples where it's been shown to work. The average thug thinks they can use their hands better than they can, even more so once alcohol is involved. Also if you're up against a few guys if you can knock one of them out quickly it changes the whole dynamics of the fight, the other guys might be worried about getting close to you for fear of being knocked out.
Well. Said...Thats. definitely. True. About. Changing. The. Dynamics

Having any sort of training so that you know how to effectively use your body as a weapon is what matters. Even if you're the best that's ever been, your body still breaks the same way as everyone else's body.
Great way of promoting ppl breaking their entire hand then getting beat down after. Boxing is the worst.
The number of times you see a high-level BJJ guy go for a takedown and get caught in a guillotine, even by untrained opponents, you really gotta rethink that for the street.
Sure, in a controlled environment the BJJ guy will eventually escape it and submit the guy. But in the street you rarely have the luxury of hanging around like that.
Even going back to UFC 1, when Gracie took down the boxer, Jimmerson still held him in place for awhile, with one hand gloved up, until Art realised he wasn't able to do anything and just tapped.
But he wasn't submitted and could've held Gracie there longer.
And that's someone with zero grappling ability.
Gracie's assertion that there should be no rounds and that if necessary the fight should remain on the ground, almost stagnant for 1/2 an hour or however long it takes until a submission is achieved,
is just kinda ridiculous for a street situation.
Come on dude. No untrained dude on the street is catching a high level bjj practitioner in a guillotine choke on a takedown lol. Less they're like double the size, freakishly athletic and damn lucky to boot, then maybe. ))
If you can't grapple it's ok. Just, stay silent about it.
Or better yet go learn. Get started. Before younknow it you might even be catching guillotines yourself. ))
The topic was boxing anyway. That you even brought it kinda gives an too common aura of jealousy and whatnot, which isn't becoming of a man or wise.
@@iamshredder3587jealousy is what jiu jitsu nerds always feel for boxing and other striking arts. He's not completely wrong, on a street fight you can do things you're not allowed to in competition, like elbowing the spine or the back of the head, kicking the other guy on the ground with shoes on, and so on. Jiu jitsu is very good but it's not magical and has many flaws, just like anything else.
That literally never happens. There are millions of videos of BJJ beginners beating bigger, stronger people in real fights on RUclips. No untrained couch potato is catching one of us with our own moves 😂
Wrestling is the best thing in street fighting. Boxing will be supportive
Sure if nobody is around which is almost impossible.
Fights generally happen when drinking. And others around. And drunken idiots watching violence will intervene and kick a guy in the face only when they’re on the ground.
@@oldironsides4107 Non drunk wrestler takes guy down, gets up while other drunks flail at him. Quick takedown is best.
@@Xeno-ng7dz
Yeah I don’t think you’ve seen it been in any.
People intervene when 2 are on the ground. Not when one guy is starching everyone.
@@oldironsides4107 Plenty of people think the earth is flat. They're wrong. Deal with it.
They only intervene if they're fast enough. Plenty of ways to end a fight quickly from a double leg or most other takedowns. If you've wrestled, done judo or BJJ you'd know.
I boxed for 10 years straight I do it now when I have time but not how I used to. And it isn’t the same thing when you box you have gloves on so when your hands are up there further from your face you get used to it and leave openings when you street fight. You need to close up more in a street fight with no gloves.
I learned boxing 🥊
When I was 17 and some karate.
That helps me tremendously on the streets nobody could beat me.

People really are thinking streetfighting is somehow different than a cage.
Like bro what works in a cage WILL work in the streets, people don't get nerfed when entering an arena or some shit
It will work to a degree. But there are rules, restrictions, and a canvass in UFC. There are no rules, restrictions, and a canvass in a street fight.
The biggest difference aside from no rules is you most likely arent fighting a bjj purple belt or higher, or a D1 wrestler, so good boxing is pretty valuable. Also there’s only 2 people in a cage so no concerns about getting jumped while ground fighting. There’s so many more differences too.
@@UnjustVerdict Yeah, they will usually have a huge advantage with regard to fighting ability, as most people aren't trained fighters. But they would be wise to adapt to street fighting rather than fight how they usually fight. Their typical grappling and ground stuff could get their head kicked in, eyes gouged out, fingers bitten off, etc., in a street fight. People can be dangerous animals, trained or not.
To answers this question, just watch an 80s Tyson fight when Tyson was in his prime, and there's your answer. But then, like others said, it's better to walk away if you have a choice.
If you have 1 solid combination. Down to muscle memory, you can easily win a fight. Especially if the other guy doesn't know anything. A quick distraction Jab can do serious damage especially if your opponent does not know how to slip it.
Good advice. Even Andrew Tate says boxing is the best self defense art there is.
Understandable. Why do we have to do a pointless brawl since we can settle with reason and compassion?
I agree with this mate, but always be prepared
That requires everyone to be reasonable and compassionate.
Never gonna happen. Ever.

Sorry but I have to say wrestling is your best skill to posses in a street fight.
Don’t street fight, you’re correct - Only chumps fight!
Boxing is useful, but a grappling base would be more useful for most street fight situations.
No
Jiu jitsu and wrestling has protected me in two altercations. Never had to throw a punch in either scenario.
Wrestling works when you're bigger and stronger. Boxing works because you're smarter.
@@thomasespinosa6709 wrestling works when you know how to wrestle
@@thomasespinosa6709 also, holding someone down on the ground, subduing them is much smarter than throwing a 1-2 combo, potentially concussing or killing the person.
Regular boxing trains attributes like balance, power generation, timing, distance. Hopefully also teaches you to keep your hands up. Sure, a single good cross or hook can finish a stand-up fight quickly, but what if there are multiple opponents, nasty kicks to the legs, guys who just bull in and take you down, weapons? Boxing is a damn good skillset, but definitely not a cure-all in dealing with serious violent encounters.
Damn bro you sportin a thanos jaw🤣
Agree 100%, seen plenty of street fights with trained boxers, I haven’t not seen them come out on top. I only wish I took it up when I was younger 😢
a friend of mine was training for two years, one evening he was out in a park with his girlfriend and a friend of theirs waiting for other friends to come. Three hooligans came up, first they asked for a cigarette, then they started pouring themselves drinks my friend bought. He told them "I'd give you some if you asked nicely", then they started being aggressive. It took one hit for each to knock down two and the third one started running away but my friend was chasing him just to scare him off. He is naturally very fast, but he couldn't catch him because of laughter, it was too funny for him.
Point was, they couldn't even hit him, and he wasn't even using full force, he was in total and calm control of the situation and didn't have intention for violence, he is a kind man and has a just and noble view on martial arts especially boxing and many times he resolved conflicts peacefully.
Never fight unless there is a witness ot a camera and the guy is attacking first. Just in case he dies or he sues..that goes for you as well. Dont go fighting someone over words. Your ego us your biggest enemy
A ufc fighter will beat a boxer
Brother. I was on the Army boxing team way back when. Lol.
I thought once I got good at boxing I'd NEVER have to "street fight" again. Boy was I wrong.
It's not like we look for this stuff. You have to be on the look out now for these fools. They are mad? They wanna fight! They are drunk? They wanna fight! They wanna disrespect your space or your family? And yes, they wanna fight about it.
And the same issue I had in the ring is the same issue I have in a street fight and that is with the over aggressive fighter. That first 30 seconds of just crazy "hay makers" combos etc.
After that I'm good. The fight settles down and I do well picking my spots, counters and start to turn it. But lordy I take some blows that first 30 seconds.
So since we don't always get to "walk away" maybe give some tips against the crazies in that first 30 seconds.
Thanks brother.
Tell them you'll be back in a minute
Lol. I tried that. But these crazies are simply unreasonable.
A real good street fighter might take you out within that 30 seconds. The only option is to be a real damn good street fighter yourself. ...boxing or anything else is useful addition.
@Ron-ro5ft keep.your distance. Your feet are more effective than your hands if the guy swinging punches everywhere he will be off centred don't let people get close back up and be prepared to change angles with your feet that's how I always train my mind. I'm 6 foot 2 my first thought is to create distance where I'm able to use my feet for in and out range. Then I will be cautious throwing my hands but once I see I good opening I will fully commit to the punch. I constantly train my body for speed and power with it coming from my feet.
35 years old. Never been in a street fight. You're clearly making excuses.
Running is the best option. Easiest and safest choice
Yeah, my uncle, now in his 80s was European welterweight forces champion and he never lost a street fight even against guys twice his size.
Boxing will give you a much bigger advantage than any other martial art.
"Only fight in the streets"
Ok got it
Best martial arts for street fights are muay thai ,wing chun, kick boxing , bjj, russian wrestling or even greek and judo
This is why I carry a 42 inch long combat cane as a deterrent
Use what you know " MASTER CHAI "
I'm 27 16 stone 6.2 height now won 8 Irish titles in boxing from 11 to 20 I never look for street fight no winners give someone ah punch you might kill waik if away you can 😊
Channeling streetfighting energy into street cleaning would be beneficial for the cleanliness of the streets, yo!!!🛣️
The best thing for a street fighter is coliflower ear.
Just saying as a 6'5 with coli ear I can end two dudes fight with a look.
That and be an actual masochist. My best mate is, I'll never forget the look that a dude gave him after hitting him in the throat and my man popped a stuffy and with wild eyes said do that five more times and I'll be ready to tear you apart.........it was sobering ......I went from trashed to scared of him in half a second......
During all my scuffles which I could not talk out of, I always waited to be hit first, take the leg with calf kicks, jab the throat/ nose, and fights were over.
If the police question, it’s self defence
No other martial art throws hands better than boxing, that's for sure.
That's for lie. BS, Kung Fu is better than all other stuff - excluding a real damn good street fighter.
@user-mx1qy2xb1i no, no Kung Fu is not. You're mad. Hardest, fastest strikes are western boxing punches as determined by physics and measurements
Boxing is applicable to every situation where strikes are required. On its own, it's not the best at everything. But it compliments anything else you're trying to do, combat wise.
I like the left right left right as fast as I can combo, I’m running out of any confrontation.
I do agree getting into a street fight is in good, but any fight outside of a dojo is technically a street fight
The Shoryuken is my go-to move in a street fight.
Catching bass on 2lb test is awesome.
