  • It's all well and good trying to save money but by doing so how much could it be impacting your safety?
Don't put yourself, your family or your property at risk, use a registered electrician.
If in doubt you can search www.electricalcompetentperson.... to confirm if your chosen contractor is fit to work in your home

theres plenty of registered electricians that would do work like that, unfortunately you cant get guarantee a good job by using a registered electrician, that comes down to the individual and the standards they work to.
I have seen too much crap from so called competent installers, and this has mainly been caused by the introduction of Part P which effectively watered down the standards of work in this industry.

Anthony charles I cannot disagree with that. This is why I always tell my clients/potential clients to google my business name to see for themselves exactly what I am all about. If they choose not to use my services then I always advise that they do their research on the chosen contractor.
Being registered at least proves that the contractor has undertaken and passed assessments. Something that many still shy away from 😕👍🏼

I thought it was 600 from consumers side gas earth clamp

Correct. Within 600mm on consumer side of gas meter and before any branch pipework or within 600mm of where it first pops up into the property. So for example, if the gas meter was outside and the consumers pipework ran under the floor for 2 metres and then popped up into the property it would become 600mm from this point.

Most of the dodgy workmanship comes from those that have paid into one of these stealth tax schemes. Just because they dont have a flashy van or some part p sticker doesnt mean they wont do a good job. Some decent sparks just refuse to succumb to the stealth taxs

I hear what you are saying and completely understand. That being said, as a client would you prefer to use a registered contractor who MUST have the correct qualifications and insurances in place that can easily be verified or would your prefer to take your chance on somebody that doesn’t wish to jump through the hoops that are out before them? Most of the schemes work more in the interest of the client so this also is a good reason for a client to opt for this.
Thank you for taking the time to post your thoughts. It’s very much appreciated.
      Kind regards
      Steve :)

Ed, I get where you are coming from. If this was a scripted video I could probably have gone into more detail but then people switch off if it’s too long winded. I’m sure you can tell it was by no means scripted lol
You may have actually just given me an idea for another video ;)
Thanks again for taking the time to comment.

Ed, unfortunately I won’t ever monetise this channel even if it got to the point where it qualified for it. The reason being is that as a business, I promote Electrical Safety in the Home Which I believe is far more important 😁👍🏼
