  • #Caiques + #Eclectus #Parots = ?
Well, you don't really know until you try. However, I'd have several reasons why I don't feel this would be a good mix. Most importantly, I feel it would be like adding to alpha personalities in the sense that Caiques have strong personalities and are insistent; Eclectus parrots are independent.
Plus their diets are dissimilar. If I wanted to give my Eclectus a companion, I'd look to another Eckie or asiatic parrot.

My Caiques are all friends and fly, play and create havoc together. However one of my black headed and one of my white bellied are very bonded to each other and me. My concern would be as you said diet and the activity level. My Caiques suffer from ADHD! They never stop. They have a 30 second attention span. They dive bomb each other and us. And they are compelled to investigate everything. I think they could create stress for an Eclectus parrot. As you suggested, I would do a lot of research before adding another species. 💕💕💕

I agree, the energy levels just don't seem like they would match. And eclectus parrots seem super exotic in the sense that their diet is special and I suspect their behaviors and mannerisms are too. For example, I know that they don't pick just one mate. In the wild the male visits several females in Nests, speeds several of them and mates with several. So, even though they are both parrots, I think there's species are very different. Research would definitely be needed.

My husband asked me if I were to get another bird what kind would I get. I think a Caique or Golden Conure. Apparently Golden Conures can be hard to find. I also learned if you have to get it from another state, there is regulation galore. Love learning from you.

Eclectus are unpredictable, don't like the look of it,wouldn't like to be attacked🐦🚩🔥✅

I agree, but I'm laughing because I don't think anyone likes to be attacked. I get your point though, my Indian ringneck is happy to attack but isn't so welcoming of it and response pretty strongly. She doesn't quite go with the flow!

I think a VA might be a veterinary assistant :)
They might have thought it would be good to have a bird with a strong enough personality to stand up to the eclectus, but the VA probably didn't think of what if they're both too headstrong :P
Did the person who asked the question tell u what kind of bird they ended up getting?

Let the parrot choose!! I think many people are a little bit too much of collectors when it comes to parrots: they want to have as much different parrots as possible whereas for the parrot this is not a preferred option, especially when you keep in mind they are not fully domesticated animals and stem from different regions; I know people that collect different types of dogs, small and giant ones, also not a good idea, many accidents happen😢

Can you record a video on introducing caiques to other birds? Whether it be a caique or another species? I have a caique and I’m thinking about either adding another caique or a macaw perhaps in the next year or so. 😊 Thanks for the great caique material!! 🦜💛💚

How old is your Caique? Has he/she ever been around other parrots? Are you getting another parrot for you or a companion for your Caique?

@@ParrotBliss Monty is about a year and half and I wanted to take your advice and introduce young…under three to four years (depending on how long it takes to save for another larger bird). I’d like another parrot for both Monty and myself. I’m into free flight and there are some places simply not safe for caiques. Whereas, macaws, for example, would be safer. Monty was hand raised and had at least one other fellow caique until I brought him home at 8 months old. 😊
