- The 2022 Yamaha #Tenere 700 World Raid takes the cracking middleweight adventure bike from #Yamaha in an all-new, hardcore off-road direction.
With long-travel, higher-spec suspension, twin tanks, rugged protection and more than a passing resemblance to modern-day Dakar race bikes, you'd be forgiven for thinking this was only to be used off-road, but as we found out, this could make the #Tenere700 range a much more suitable long-distance touring machine too.

Yamaha have designed a bike for a purpose and it’s a beauty. If that purpose isn’t what you want, buy another bike, simples. Standard Tenere is awesome and if this is even just slightly better in some ways then 10/10
Many will with a 40% price increase, more weigh and still only 72hp. It's a miss for Yamaha I feel. The original T7 nailed it at the price point. This one is over bloated, low powered and now over priced.
@@twowheelpilot and yet the suspension upgrade alone is probably worth more than the price difference let alone the bigger tank capacity. The weight difference is negligible. Orders are already coming in and Yamaha distribution probably won’t keep up with demand.

Weight negligible??? it's more than a 7% increase!!!
Now google about engine overheating and fuel evaporating problems, exactly like the dual tank KTM (who abandoned the idea after a while).
@@PeterR0035 with full fuel and new owners that have owned both very happy saying they wouldn’t go back to original because although marginally heavier it feels much lighter with a lower centre of gravity. Strange about fuel evaporation, will check it out. I also owned the double fuel tank KTM and never had those issues (although it had many others).
@@sarnbradshaw7382 because Yamaha have huge supply issues. Not because of demand. The suspension Isn't worth the extra alone. It's 20mm more travel and some koshima costing with some new internals. Still only 43mm. Yamaha have excess to the best suspension available on a production motorcycle with the KYB SSS 48mm and we get 43mm and 230mm of travel.... That's a miss. Now I'm in no way saying it won't be a great bike but it could of been better. I'll keep my KTM and see if we get a T9 at some point. And yes I have ridden T7 and it's not very fast on the road. Off road it's fine power wise. Other points where it needs work. Power, suspension travel, top heavy weight. Non detachable subframe. Exhaust hanger to name a few. Rear rim is also to wide.

Yamaha have clearly developed an excellent very long term marketing strategy from the inception of the T7. First spark of brilliance was to endow it with a relatively modest powerplant which had already proven its bomb proof credentials since it made its appearance in the MT07 in 2014. The next was to deliver a very effective, accessible and uniquely low-tech platform which could fulfil most riders' needs in most environments but also readily customisable to any rider's heart's content/wallet. Next was to deliberately limit supply (?) in some markets - nothing like a degree of scarcity to encourage demand. And now after watching the worldwide user response to the model, they've tweaked it with improved suspension whilst retaining the unintimidating level of power. I reckon they had all this planned from when the concept was first publicised back in 2016.
Supply issues is real. It's cost Yamaha alot of sales. No one plans to be out of bikes for 16 months in some places! Not planned at all.

Nice presentation from someone who knows. If I wasn't looking forward to the evolution of electric bikes I'd fall in love with this one. I am one of those who believe that YAMAHA should have released this in the first place, even before the 1200 - back in the day me and a few other guys have been burning our keyboards trying to convince YAMAHA to bring the XTZ750 heritage in the present instead of following the heavy BMW trend. Not sure the saddle can offer enough comfort on tarmac for the extended tank range (especially it's rear half) but that can be fixed (though adding saddle height to an already tall bike is something to consider).
Could you put some disclaimer on footage which is provided by Yamaha, as that is a bit misleading.

Allegedly the triple will be used in a SuperTenere replacement. I doubt it will be as dirt capable, but...

I built an off-road Tracer 900, biggest issue was the ground clearance, the oil pan is so low, you can ever catch it on a kerb,if you're not careful, I had a Danish sumpguard on mine...a T9 would be a touring bike, not in the same class as a T7, and no,it wouldn't be shaft drive,saps too much power!

@@thunderbear0 For me those are two completely different things. Cruise control is great for highways and throttle lock is great if you want to relax your right hand for few seconds. Throttle lock does not really work for keeping your speed controlled in real world situations.

The Yamaha Tenere , although a great bike is a little bit top heavy.
Motor is a little weak too.
@@leanit5756 I honestly can’t criticise the engine. It punches well above its weight. There’s a decent amount of torque everywhere. Obviously, it’s not going to blow you socks off with blistering power but it’s not bad.
Because of height i dont think it effects too much
And engine is just fine its reliable have enough power to rip off dirt and can easily to 120km to 150 thats enough
@@thunderbear0 not enough. Boring on the road. I'm on a super adventure R with 160 with is over kill I admit. 72hp is lame however. I think 100 ish hp is a good amount in a ADV bike. I agree the spread of power on the T7 is excellent however.

I have to say I'm disappointed. Huge increase in cost, weight and still no more power. I'm a KTM rider but I'm not happy the way the brand has gone. Terrible reliability record, over pricing and Chinese build for some models. I really wanted to sell my KTM and buy the T7 WR. 72hp is lame however. I'll hold on to my KTM 1290 super adventure R. It's a rocket ship, goes everywhere and I do really take it off road. Landed it so hard I smashed the rear shock housing from bottoming. A little disappointed it broke like that but I almost expect a KTM to break these days. Dispite all this I do love it. I'd hoped this T7 WR was a 208kg 90hp and 250mm of travel and I'd have flicked my 1290R. Maybe Yamaha should do a T9 WR for us very adventurous adventure rides. While you are at it Yamaha why not a 250/300 WR two stroke with six speed gear box, Ballance shaft and E start. Add a Lectron carb for good measure. Not into this Tpi groove... Frankly I don't know how the Japanese miss the market so much. It's not hard to see what people want. The gaps. What they should make. They could and would make them very well indeed too. Alot of the reason KTM has got so big is they directly respond to the market and make what people want. It's well known KTM monitor the forums for direct market information. The right demographic is gold for information. Plus there isn't any Japanese alternative. Take the 890R, over priced yes but it's bang on where it needs to be power wise and 250mm suspension travel plus weight. The original T7 was a revelation due to its keen price. Unfortunately that has grown on the original and this T7 WR is a huge 40% gain in cost. As for my other comment, KTM best selling two strokes are the 250/300. Again what does Yamaha offer? Nothing in a WR and most certainly nothing modern. How about a R9 Yamaha with the CP3 motor? Seems to me the designer and the marketing department need a kick up the motorcycle reality ass. I love Yamaha and I think this is why it frustrates me so much.
Capping the HP to 72 to save the rider from themselves. That's BS at all kinds of levels.
