Thank you for not wimping out on the swastika. great build.
Thanks Ian! YT is trying to cause me grief, however. A bogus claim of a music copyright violation for an artist and a piece of music that isn't even in the video...
Max_Afterburner are they doing this because you included the swastika on your ship? My god we really do live in a 1984 novel like world. It’s scary
I had a feeling that something like this was going to happen prior to the upload. I can report now that the situation has been cleared up and the copyright claim was removed. 👍🏻
Max_Afterburner that’s good to hear mate. But it’s still ridiculous that we have to have this crap over a historical sign on a battle ship because of political correctness. Thanks for your awesome videos btw
@@MaxAfterburner good nice to see people being accurate with what they present.
This gentleman has the finest, greatest method to retain an audience I've ever seen: The intermitent appearance of footnotes and assorted tidbits of info, among the tools or paint brands and types. Brilliant. Besides a great modeller, the best "Advertising Engineer" said industry could ever hire. Bravo, loved the build and the vid!
Hi hansvonmannschaft9062, thanks so very much for the kind feedback and I'm glad you liked this Bismarck build presentation! 😎😄
Amazing job !! THANKS !
I built the Bismark model back in he 70's, a lot less care to detail as you have done. A so called friend saw it and decided to do a book report on the Bismark for a class project. He did his report,THEN came to me wanting to use the model for his class project. I was hesitent but allowed him to take it. A week later, there was a bag addressed to me at my parents side porch. Opening the bag, my Bismark model was in many broken parts.
That was my last model ever.
Now, I am old guy but your video has encouraged me to give it another go. Fast forward to now days and we have better glues, paints, air guns "cheap," but most of all, we have EXCELLENT youtube tutorials for great ideas and posibilities !! Thanks again !!
Hi wa4aos, I'm glad videos like this have inspired you to try again! The industry has made leaps and bounds beyond what we had available when we were young.
I had a similar model catastrophe event! (see my model collection nostalgia video for details).
I know you'll be able to create something better than you ever thought you could! Thanks for watching and sharing your story! 😃
At the end you say not the best ship model… that thing looks amazing!! It’s the best ship video I’ve ever seen, and the detail is spot on
Hi SpringHawk, wow, thanks for the generous and kind comments 😊
Well done!A great Tamiya ship classic like Tirpitz,Yamato,New Jersey among others👍👍
Thanks, bert8373 ! 😊
Next warship build Tirpitz pls so Bismarck aren't alone
And the whole Kriegsmarine .

Nearly identical no point
Tom, I would include you in my "top three" RUclips modellers, along with Plasmo and ScaleModelAircraft. All quite different from each other, and yet all three of you present your work in such a clear and relaxing manner. A pleasure to watch.
Thanks Stephen, that's high praise. New video should be uploaded to the channel in 1 or 2 days.
Also look up ebroin's miniatures.
@@maxhui8099 Yes, I have seen his work , but never put a name to the models. Outstanding painting and sculpting.
Using the blue tack on the head of a toothpick to apply small PE parts is a great tip that I haven't seen before - I usually work with 1/35 scale armor and 1/32 scale aircraft, so ship model RUclips is a new thing for me. Good stuff!
Hi warc8us, there are also arts & crafts wooden sticks that have wax tips available out there that accomplish the same thing. These tools are usually on hand for those who work with small beads. 😋
I have never watched a video of a model build in my entire on-line life so I decided to try yours after remembering the fun I had with WW2 models in my youth. I have to admit you did a SPECTACULAR job on this ship !! I am impressed with not only your model-building skills , but this video was well edited to include the entire process from start to finish WHILE educating the viewer on both the methods AND some history of the ship as well...BRAVO !!
Thanks for the very kind comments Eternally Thankful 3771, much appreciated! 😃
Amazing and historical accuracy is a must in HD builds. Very nice bismark and gives me a lot of ideas for painting my Prince Eugen
Thanks
Hi Joe, glad the Bismarck build video might help out! 😊
I'm looking at this kit right now. It's a nice touch that Tamiya has included the option to depict her after the stripes and false bow and stern were painted over. Nearly every other kit only has her with the stripes. Which look great, but are a pain to do on the superstructure.
Hi joshuariddensdale2126, it's not easy to do the striping for sure😛
How can Tamiya include or exclude the option to depict her in any particular way? I don't understand your assertion because the paint scheme is always left up to the builder. You are not locked-in with what Tamiya wants.....
Thanks Tom, Re-watched about three times gives me courage to have a go at the camo stripes. I bought the new trumpeter 1/350 Bis. Thank You
Hi Neil, you can do it! Good Luck -- and the key is to plan a lot and take your time 😉
Thanks for doing this video. Prepping my Bismarck kit and this has really helped me plan out the stages to do the camo pattern. Nice job on the model. Oh, and thanks for modeling it accurately. History is history and we shouldn't forget.
Thanks Chris, I'm glad it might help out. Best wishes for a fun and successful build!
Excellent close ups along with information which people should find interesting. Bravo!
Hi davidwhiteley3879, thanks! It's still a popular video on this channel even after 4 years since its premiere. 😎
I am deeply impressed Max! You really went the extra mile with the wooden upper deck. The final result looks stunning!
Thanks so much MAAA!
Great Job ! ! ! I really enjoyed watching you put this together 🤓
Hi jamesdill6832, thank you and cheers! 🥳
Outstanding work! You motivate me to be better at my hobby, thanks for sharing.
Hi freddakin7119, thanks for the kind and generous comments. I'm glad the video has inspired you to keep building! 😊
This marvelous ship would have brought the Allied Navy’s to their knees and changed the course the war. Thank you for sharing such a beautiful recreation.
Hi CloudStreets, it took a long time for me to complete, but I'm so glad you liked it! 😊
This is why Churchill commanded it be sunk. The film Sink the Bismark gives a good idea of how they had to pull the RN resources together to get the job done, leaving alot of merchantships vulnerable
That was the most amazing thing I've ever seen in my life.
Gosh, thanks kindly Russell 😃
It’s a very nice build and I’m glad you did it historically accurate. Thanks for taking the time to post that.
Hi John, glad you liked it! Thanks for watching! 😃

Nice build! I particularly enjoyed the techincal info and period music. Thanks...
Thanks, Mike! It's hard to find music that's "free" for use, so this was a nice thing to be able to add to the video.
Great video! I’m in the middle of the same kit but using the Pontos detail-up kit - brutal! Trying my patience but I’m getting there. Found your answers to questions about rigging really useful too. Fantastic work here
Hi Mark, photo etch is great for detail, but you're bound to lose a few pieces along the way. I just found a pulley piece last night on my living room floor! Thanks for watching 🧐
Just recently started watching your channel and so glad to see a full ship build....a rarity and so well done. Thoroughly enjoyed all aspects of the build, the commentary and the historical bits. Thanks for this and I'll certainly keep watching! Robert

@@MaxAfterburner Bismarck Tribute ruclips.net/video/a6y6nlm-qLE/видео.html
You hope it was entertaining and educational??...HOPE!!! lol you smashed both out of the park mate. Ship model making at, as far as I'm concerned, an amazing level. Educating for the modeler, and historical facts alongside a splash of vintage footage and pictures. I think I have found my perfect you tube channel. Only problem I had was I was absolutely glued to the screen from start to finish and got none of the model in front of done for a solid 35 minutes. Bravo Sir!!! Encore! Encore! 👏
Hi paulwalpole6103, WOW! Thanks so very much for that generously kind comment! 🤩😎🥳
@@MaxAfterburner that completely earned comment!!
Excellent work.

Thank you sir 👍
All the best, and thanks Darkrai 😄
I appreciate the effort on the history lesson along with the build
Thanks pigs bladder! There's so many back stories to the Bismarck events worth looking at if you're interested in delving deeper.
Incredible build video, the Bismarck portrayed in her proper time period with the painted top and the super structure camouflage. Yes the swastika today is bad, but that was the flag and insignia of that government of that period accurately depicted her as she was of that year. Wish I have the patience to sit and work on this model.
Hi RoyJNg, probably one of the longest continuous builds I ever had. 🤭
That is freaking beautiful...Wow.
Hi PantherCreekPlantation, thanks very much! The Bismarck video which is now over 5 years old has become my most watched video daily once again - and for many months now! ⛴️😄
I have this kit, and an Eduard PE set, and Aber L11 barrel set. And I feel totally overwhelmed. I have not put a kit together since my early 20's and I am 62 years old. But seeing all the photos of this kit makes me want to give it a shot. But I am basically starting over again. Plus in my day there was no PE. This is what scares me the most. Looks very complicated and difficult to work with. But I also am in no hurry. I plan to weather covid and this winter working on it. I don't know anything about washes and 'marbling' but I'll learn. I have a Badger airbrush, but I need a compressor. I need a lot of stuff, but I can get started doing the basic stuff until I get everything. Thanks for an informative video. Keep them coming!
Hi George, modeling techniques, accessories and tools sure have advanced since the hobby began and certainly has exploded in the last couple of decades. PE can be a challenge, but after getting your feet wet - it gets a little easier, so stick with it. I consider it essential for ship models myself. If you have the patience, you can easily pick up on the detailing techniques and amaze yourself with each new build. Good Luck and have great fun! 😄
@@MaxAfterburner Thanks! Can you recommend any sites that teach PE techniques? I agree that these models do benefit from the detail these PE parts add. They look so realistic!
Hi George, there are quite a few videos out there on PE. Here's one I remember watching a couple of years ago and gives a good overview.
ruclips.net/video/V6C7LGDTlwo/видео.html
Stunning build, so realistic,well done.
Thanks Martin! 🙂
Fantastic build, as always good information and history included. One suggestion, maybe a few figures on the deck for scale? Keep up the good work. I've recently started the hobby again, very therapeutic, I also find these videos therapeutic as well.
That is an awesome ship and build. I "don't" see how you can improve on it, but then I'm not a rivet counter either. Great job and well done!!! Keep up the good work and videos!!!
Thanks so much Daryl G!
Beautifully realized. Congratulations on your very fine Bismarck!
Thanks 😉
Thanks for the history and the techniques. I love it and make some more please.
Thanks for your kind comments Tom Tran, will do!
Max Afterburner your Tamiya 11 350 scale German Ballle ship is awesome my friend
Great Job, I am building my Bismarck 1/350 right now, your tutorial is very useful
Hi Fabrizio Croce, glad the video might help and I wish you a successful outcome on your Bismarck! 😃
I have to say....thank you for giving me an insight as to how to make this model. The information was excelent, and the soft smoothing music was perfect. I have been thinking of making this kit, as a thank you, to my father. My father, FRANK ALBERT RICHARD GREEN, was the wine stewarist on the KING GEORGE V battleship. He was on the K.G.V .when the BISMARK went down. The order was that ALL HANDS on the K.G.V. were to stay at their station. Only a hand full of sailers and officers were allowed to watch the BISMARK......sink.
Thanks for sharing your story Paul, absolutely amazing! Your father participated in one of the most famous naval battles of all time...and without seeing it. 🙂
Thank you for the accurate History lesson! Most people don't realize that the Germans scuttled her. The British did not actually sink her. Great model! Great detailing! Great video! Definitely subscribing and checking out the rest of your videos!
Thanks very much Ddubzz, I'm glad you enjoyed this Bismarck episode! I hope you find some of the other videos entertaining as well.
Absolutely beautiful. Thanks.
Hi Eric, thanks so very much, I'm glad you liked it 😃
That's a fantastic looking build mate. Both informative for build techniques and educational as well re learning a bit of WW2 naval history.
Bismarck is probably my favourite warship of all time. Just awesome lines! Well done!

Magnificent. Each layer of detail you added increased the realism. Thanx for sharing. 👍👍
Thanks Bob P, glad you liked it! This particular build was the longest of my life...so far!
Fun build I remember doing that kit a long time ago...... Then I decided to get really insane and scratch build the Bismarck in 1/200 scale...... took me seven years hahaha.
Yikes, I couldn't do that!
@@MaxAfterburner not really that hard it just takes time and some planning and maybe a little insanity, lucky these days trumpeter do 1/200 scale kits that you can upgrade. Right now I am in the middle of an HMS Rodney build in 1/200 on one side of the bench and the other has the hull of the RMS Mauritania in 1/195 which I expect to take many years to do. at this scale they are all RC
@Alan hughes It is not that hard really, just get a nice kit and take your time... For scratch building the idea is simple, get some good plans and remember ships are just lots of geometric shapes so build it bit by bit with that in mind.
The Battleship bismarck Is my ship favorite 😎😎😎

This video did help to get me excited again on starting over, but also got me scared on seeing how much work i got myself into with the PE parts that i ordered with it.
Edit:
Also my brother in christ that looks insane
Hi Milsolen, thanks. My Bismarck certainly is not the best out there, but I was happy with the overall result personally. PE really adds to ship kits and I feel it is a must for that genre. A lot of work, but it really highlights the model. 😎 Good luck with yours!
nicely done, I'm british but the Bismarck is my favourite battleship. I have a model of her myself, the Revell 1/350 scale one. I would recommend the Revell 1/350 scale Bismarck and Tirpitz, their detailing is really good.
Hi Lex the Pikachu, thanks, it's still the longest duration build completed for the channel. 😃
Excellent idea for the blast bags! thank you!
Hi Jeff0000, glad to hear it might help out 😉
Inspiring stuff!
I believe the current theory on Bismarck's crippling torpedo hit was that it caused a stern collapse, similar to that encountered on Prinz Eugen, Lutzow and Scharnhorst. A weak spot on German ships it seems.
it was a torpedo stike on the rudder that caused her to slow down - at one stage heading towards the British fleet
I would like to point out that she destroyed the Hood with one salvo - took the British the entire Home and |Mediterranean fleet to destroy her. Without that lucky hit from an incredibly brave torpedo strike by aircraft she would have got to Breast. Prince Eugean got there and was destroyed after the war
Incidentally during the first world war the British lost three capital ships and the Admiral sdaid what is wrong with our bloddy ships
@@richardsimmons6470 "Something wrong with our bloody ships today Chatfield, turn two points toward the enemy". Admiral Beatty.
The lucky torpedo strike was the theory before so many Kriegsmarine ships were found with their sterns hanging off. That's why I favour the stern weakness hypothesis. Once is bad luck, twice, a bad coincidence. Three times and more? Thats a bad habit.
Thaank you for the original newsreel :)

Yes, I found the video to be very entertaining and educational as are all of your videos. The F-14 fly by was the cherry on top!

I gotta say, I wasn’t excited for this one as I like aircraft better than ships, but the history hit all the high points and I enjoyed watching all the different techniques that you wouldn’t use on an aircraft (like the wood). Another excellent video!
Thanks a lot Peter, I'm glad you enjoyed it!
The Swordfish was a mid 30s design. Despite being a biplane it was much more advanced and capable compared to WWI aircraft. It was easy to land on deck and could carry torpedo, bombs, depth charges and rockets.
It could fly so low and slow that the German gunners had trouble depressing their guns to hit them. The men that flew the Swordfish were some of the bravest as they flew alone into certain death on several occasions.
Can you tell I have read "Stringbag" the story of the Swordfish? Thanks for the video. 😊👍
Thanks SteelScooter, I'm finding out there's much more to the Swordfish than I thought!
@Alan hughes If you read again I said it was much more advanced than WWI biplanes not WW2. The video said it was WWI technology.
Tnx for the video
