I just loved this show, and I was one of the millions of kids that raced home from school so I could be in front of the TV to watch the original Batman. (Same Bat Time, same Bat Channel).
I think it still holds up. Love when stations show reruns of it---actually watched it tonight. I was in my teens when it was originally on and watched it every week. Much like Gilligan's Island, just solid fun entrainment that is suitable for literally every age.
Glad to know that you're still watching Batman today! Thank you for sharing your thoughts. What other types of videos would you like to see on our channel?
My favourite has to be one of the Catwoman episodes where she strapped them to large grills on a roof and planned for the sun to cook them, she says she greased the reflectors with margarine to make them "more fry-able", and Robin reacts by saying "Holy oleo!" To which she responds "I didn't know you could yodel." It's episode 37.
Loved it as a teen, love it as an adult. I think it's so fun and still holds up I agree with others who say the new Batman movies are too dark. The way the world is,we need fun escapism, not more doom and violence. Thanks for the trip down memory lane.
Hello again Facts Verse 👋 I always watched Batman back in the day and would never miss it. I enjoyed all of the actors on the show and it’s sad that so many of them have passed away. It’s good to see that Burt is still going strong and keeping busy. Thank you for another great video Tim and I hope you and your subscribers have a wonderful day.
Several years ago. There was a boy that had a terminal disease And the Make-a-Wish Foundation helped him be. BATKID for a whole day. Racing across San Francisco chasing Arch-Criminals and solving crimes. With a finale meeting the mayor on the steps of City Hall. The smile on that kids face was incredible
I was in high school when Batman came out TV, it was fun watching it. Loved Joker, King Tut and the wonderful Cat Woman. It was not a dark show but a colorful family show. Miss the '60s, the Beatles, Stones, Star Trek and those great muscle cars.
Batman had like three really dark issues in 1939, then became very cheery. Robin ended up being the muscle very quickly, oddly enough. ("I bet my eight-year-old boy could beat up your four best goons." When you get into the 80s, Robin's book, New Teen Titans, is pretty dark, with the Titans speculating that Batman is a toxic influence if not outright abusive, for instance. When Crisis on Infinite Earths rolls along, the modern Batman, with plenty of mental health issues, becomes a thing. Frank Miller over time would get even worse from this, to the point that Frank Miller's Batman is now called the Goddamn Batman, or simply Crazy Steve, to separate him from Batman. Yeah, but those muscle cars are now too expensive. And it's going to get worse. It takes millions of years to make more oil.
Great memories. I had piano lessons as a 6 year old. My sister had dance lessons. I had to wait for her lesson to end. Fortunately they had a television. I had the lunchbox and thermos shortly after. I was mesmerized and loved the villains.

When we were 10 years old, my best friend and I had HUGE crushes on Robin. We'd watch Batman once a week on TV and call each other during every commercial to squeal in each other's ears about this or that scene. My friend had found a photo of Robin without his mask on which she kept in her wallet, and the viewing of it became a daily ritual on the playground. 2 or 3 of us would gather in a semicircle and my friend would take the photo out and show it for about 5 seconds. We would squeal with delight until she returned it to her sacred wallet, not to be viewed again until the next day. Seriously! I have to laugh at how goofy it all was now!
Yes it still holds up. My grand kids laugh at how they acted but yet they jump up and start playing Batman and robin. They fight on who will play robin. They each want to play him

The original Batman and Robin was great as a kid growing up and it occupied a lot of my time watching with enthusiasm and I enjoyed the original series over anything afterwards
Not many comedies could stand up to this series. There were some great howlers in Batman such as Robin's 'Holy Hole-in-a-donut!' what more could you ask for? 😂
I was five years old in 1966 and I loved that show to this day, for a little boy in that day, it was the best! Burt Ward is right, the Bat Man movies in the 90's and later have to of a dark theme to say the least.
Having grown up on the Batman tv series, in the 60's, I have it on blu ray. Batman '66 forever! I do believe the movies are darker and reflect the mood of our times. Some are very good, although, I wouldn't rank any of them as favorites. I know, the tv series was all camp, but it was escapist and pure fun. We could use more of that these days too.

This show actually brought back Alfred and Catwoman. Alfred had died a few years before, making him quite possibly the first back from the dead character in comics. (It wouldn't be as common as it is now until 1992's Death of Superman.) Catwoman was actually the victim of the same moral panic that branded Batman and Robin as gay. So when DC rebooted and went from Earth-2 to Earth-1, Catwoman didn't join them, and there was kind of an embargo on using Earth-2's Batman and Catwoman (but not Robin) in JLA/JSA crossovers. Years later, we learn they had a daughter who goes to Robin to learn how to avenge her parents' murder. I mean, then Crisis on Infinite Earths happens and almost all the heroes and villains go back in time to make it so there never was a multiverse. When Earth-2's Robin and Huntress die, they leave no bodies and everyone forgets they ever existed. (Earth-1's Robin was actually on another planet at this time.)
I loved watching the re-runs in the late 80s when I was 5, thinking it was the coolest thing ever. Then I saw it again in college and thought it was the most absurd thing ever! The point is though, regardless of what age I am, I DO enjoy it for it was intended to be and it was great fun!
When I was 6, the optometrist diagnosed me with lazy-eye. I had to wear a patch over my stronger eye for an hour each day while exercising my weak eye. Since I couldn't read books yet, he prescribed an hour of television. Batman was in syndication by that point, and so I followed doctor's orders religiously every day at 4 o'clock!
@@FactsVerse It's still a weaker eye, but the point of the exercise was to ensure that if I ever lost sight in the good eye, the weak eye would step and take over. According to my optometrist, a year of watching TV did the trick - Batman to the rescue!
Loved Batman as a 7-8 year old and used to get so excited when my brother would pick me up to have dinner at his apartment on Batman nights because he had a brand new COLOR TV. Don’t laugh, not everyone did in the 60s. Now, it’s hard to watch more than a couple of episodes at a time. Batman was meant to be the Dark Knight, not the goofy super hero of the 60s. Loved it then but we grow up. I can only tolerate Green Hornet because of Bruce Lee. Lost In Space, Land of the Giants, Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea, same thing as Batman. Just doesn’t hold the magic anymore. Fond memories of childhood but no need to go back. Now Twilight Zone, that’s a different story.
Burt Ward,s robin boy blunder costume js an amazing kaleidoscope of colour!!! Did Burt Ward try out some of those martial art moves on Kato ? ABC television Batman 66 68. Looks good till this day because its colour. humor, guest stars and that gorgeous 55 Lincoln experimental that I was lucky enough to have taken a picture standing next to her in Hollywood 68.. Always enjoy going down memory lane...thank you FV
I was a big fan as a boy but not so much now, in my 60s. It was a simpler time then and I had a simpler level of experience. Basically, I'm not into comic books or movies derived from them. I am however delighted that Burt Ward enjoyed the role and I'm happy concerning the direction his life has taken. More good fortune in the future for him is my wish.
Love the original Batman show ! I agree that today's Batman movies are too dark. I was a kid in the 60's. Loved reruns of Batman.. Gilligan's Island and Star Trek! 💗🥰
Yes I think the original series holds up!!…Because it was a simple-‘Good-Guy vs Bad guy’! The original series characters were fun and intriguing, not dark and maniacal as characters are today…Like many have commented, I also raced home to finish my homework to be ready for my favorite show-Batman!….
Batman and Robin was a great part of childhood fun and exciting memories Burt Ward was and will always be the original Robin no matter how modern Batman movies are made today
It still holds up. I love the dumb jokes. One that sticks out to me is Robin and Batgirl go into a room whose door is marked "Broom Closet", there is nothing but brooms in it. OR a jewelry box with "Wayne Family Jewels" emblazoned on it.
You can see the car in it’s original form in the Glen Ford / Debbie Reynolds movie “It Started With A Kiss”. It is a Lincoln show car built on a Thunderbird frame.
At the time of Batman I was in my teens and didn’t care much for it. As the years past, I noticed there has never been a show like it or near it! 💥 💥 Pow! ⚡️ ⚡️💥!
3:18 Burt Ward wrote an autobiography called, "My Life in Tights". After the late Adam West read it, he said, "It has more bologna than a delicatessen". Holy Bologna Batman!
Something that not a lot of people also mention is that Burt Ward was also the first choice to play Benjamin Braddock in The Graduate, but his agent, or the Batman showrunners or someone wouldn't let him do it or typecast him, resulting in the role going to Dustin Hoffman... What could have been.
Burt Ward came to my hometown when my son was small and a fan of Batman. I took my son to meet "Robin". He was so rude, abrupt and harsh I wished I had not taken my son. He left a very negative memory for me and a firm dislike of him ever since....some 45 years ago.
@@louislacey2383 You kinda put that aside and be there for the fans. That's what you get paid to do. And these guys made tons of money from autograph sessions and promotional appearances.
My mom worked for a Holiday Inn in Topeka, Ks. and Ward was scheduled to make an appearance at a local amusement park to sign autographs. It was the thrill of my young life sitting next to the Robin costume hanging on the clothes handle in the back seat as my mother drove us to the event. They had hit it off the night before (whether or not there is any contact my mother wont say) She went to his hotel room after the event and the Batman movie was on tv. All he wanted to do is sit there and watch himself on the tube. Mom got bored and walked out.
I'm a 60's kid who lives in Corona, CA. Most everyone around here is well aware that Burt Ward and his K9 charity is in the next town over, Norco. I happened to run into Mr Ward one afternoon while getting gas near his home. I didn't recognize him. But I knew exactly who he was after hearing his unmistakable voice. I always hoped I'd run into him some day. But when I finally did, I was kinda star struck. And I didn't know what to say. So, after introducing myself and a firm handshake. The 1st thing to come out of my mouth was, "I want you to know that because of you, I spent a couple years of my life running around the neighborhood in my underwear with a towel tied around my neck." With a concerned look, he replied, "No kidding? Wow. Was this just recently, or..?" We both had a good laugh and said goodbye. Holy crap, what a great experience that was. Does the old Batman series still hold up? ...,Absolutely.
I think the most amazing aspect of this series is how its popularity waned mid-way through the 2nd season. Unfortunately, it was becoming the late sixties, and w/o "mod"ernizing Robin's haircut, I thought this hurt the series as I got older. As much as people like Eartha Kitt as Catwoman, she was no replacement for Julie Newmar. The series was fortunate Lee Meriweather playing Catwoman in the movie didn't affect the movie being a success, but I thought the movie was terrible, especially the ending. That shows how popular this series was after the 1st season. The implied romance between Barbara Gordon and Bruce Wayne wasn't a good substitute for the sexual tension between Catwoman and Batman. The famous line "Stirrings in my utility belt". I also think Yvonne Craig was too old at the time to play Batgirl. The character should have been Robin's age and Batman should have been a mentor to her too. Kind of like "The Batman" Cartoon series from 2004 to 2008. However, the Batgirl in that cartoon should have been taller as she got older in the series. Frank Gorshin's limited appearances in Seasons 2 & 3 also hurt the series. There's only so much you can do with "Bam", "Pow", and "Crash" in the series, and the campiness popularity didn't last long. Other series like the Man From U.N.C.L.E. was a causality of going with the campiness in their series too. Their 3rd season ratings plummeted by being corny and goofy. Even the Avengers had a parody/spoof episode modeled after the "Batman" series. Yes, Adam West and Burt Ward were oversexed, but that only lasted a short time of 2 to 3 years. When the series was canceled in 1968 that ended abruptly for both. I liked the Green Hornet better, but that came out too late in the '60s. At that time, no one was interested in seeing a crime fighter wearing a fedora and overcoat in Sothern California. The tastes in style and clothing had changed dramatically by the '66-'67 season. Even if the set hadn't been destroyed or dismantled by ABC and NBC had picked the series, I think Season 4 would have been canceled by mid-season in early '69. One reason was the US Congress passed the anti-violence act of 1968 and it took effect in Early '69. This hurt "The Wild Wild West", as well as the series had to downplay the violence in the series and Robert Conrad had to decrease the # of punches thrown in an episode. Fun Fact - Robert Conrad also did his own stunts in "The Wild Wild West" and is in the Stuntman Hall of Fame for his efforts.
I'm a 60's child . I'd anxiously wait to watch the next Batman episode . Although I'd watch it in our spanking new Zenith 25'' black and white TV console ( we still have that TV ) , we did not have a color TV until the 70's . But if I'm not mistaken, I believe this is not the original Batman series . There were 2 others before , right?
Has anyone ever noticed the tv shows from the 60s are special. We never get tired of reruns. Batman bonanza dark shadows just to name a few. The creators producers and actors were geanioses.
Well said, we agree! Thank you for watching our content and for sharing your thoughts. The 60s TV shows were definitely something else. What is your favorite 60s TV show?
Just thought I would mention, the much loved 1960's show wasn't strictly the original. There was a monochrome celluloid Batman serial in the 1940's. Though they were seen in cinemas as television hadn't yet become as common a fixture in people's homes.
Hope he didn't do Yvonne Craig, I wanted to marry her and sent a proposal letter to the studio. Never got an answer back, I guess it was because I was only 11 and didn't have a job.
3:30 Good heavens. Is that Leslie Gore in the cat ears? Lucky Burt. If all he got was a kiss (because it was her, after all) that's reason enough to envy him.
I still enjoy watching the original 1960's Batman series. I have the dvd collection. I will always view Adam West and Burt Ward as the real Batman and Robin as well as the people who played the 4 main arch criminals to be the real and only Penguin. Joker, Riddler, and Catwoman.
I just loved this show, and I was one of the millions of kids that raced home from school so I could be in front of the TV to watch the original Batman. (Same Bat Time, same Bat Channel).

Yes absolutely it holds up! Especially since my personal friend Frank Gorshin was the one who played the Riddler character!😎❤️✌️😜👍
Thank you for sharing your life story. We're glad you were able to watch Batman! How is your lazy eye now?
@@FactsVerse It's still a weaker eye, but the point of the exercise was to ensure that if I ever lost sight in the good eye, the weak eye would step and take over. According to my optometrist, a year of watching TV did the trick - Batman to the rescue!
No one will ever replace the OG Batman and Rabin !
No copy is like an original!
Yes it holds up 100%. I loved this series as a kid
His dog food company, Gentle Giants, makes a dry and wet dog food that is making K9's live 20 years! Also, he has saved over 15,000 dogs!
I am glad to here that because I love dogs. From Ms. Harper Stacey.
I used to get off the school bus and watch this everyday. So iconic
Absolutely love the Adam West
Burt Ward Batman series
Absolutely yes it will forever hold
They were both great. Loved this show. Lots of camp. How great he helps the puppies who need it.
We agree! Thank you for watching our content. Be on the lookout for our next video!
Yes, There's nothing like The Original. Batman & Robin is a Classic.
We always watched Batman in the sixties because my dad went to high school with Adam West in Walla Walla Washington.
That's interesting! Thank you for watching our content. Be on the lookout for our next video!
Out of all the Batman cars, I think their car was the best looking. Loved seeing that car in the car race in the movie “Ready player one”.
You can see the car in it’s original form in the Glen Ford / Debbie Reynolds movie “It Started With A Kiss”. It is a Lincoln show car built on a Thunderbird frame.
@@bwtv147 I did see that. Think there were 5 and they were all bought to be converted into the bat mobile.
Word!Damnskippy, the original tv batman and Robin tv series still to this day I feel, still stands strong.
The original Batman and Robin are still the 💩! I'll never tire of watching the reruns. I wonder if they have the shows on DVD?
They do, you just have to look carefully and strike when you find them!
Glad you love the original! Yes, they have a DVD collection 👍
I loved that show best batman and robin dynamic duo period.
So sad to hear..Bless your hearts peace too you
Interesting, thank you for sharing this information.
So the guy isn't allowed to have a bad day, huh?
@@louislacey2383 No, a child hero isn't. You think it would be OK for Captain Kangaroo to tell a kid to f off?
@@louislacey2383 You kinda put that aside and be there for the fans. That's what you get paid to do. And these guys made tons of money from autograph sessions and promotional appearances.
It most definitely HOLDS UP!
Use to love that show as a kid and only got to watch a few of the old Superman series
The 66 Batman is my favorite iteration of Batman. I have the movie, series and the animated movies with West and Ward.
The best Dynamic Duo by far. Was played like the comics, not the dark crap they turned it into.
YES HE DOES STILL HOLDUP! LOVE THIS SERIES....
Glad to know that you love Batman! Which episode appealed to you the most?
Enjoyed this
I think the most amazing aspect of this series is how its popularity waned mid-way through the 2nd season.
Burt Ward is still alive and well!
This still comes on the Hero's and Icon channel after Wonder Women. I Grew up on WW. 💕
And here we are 55 + years later … still talking about it.
Just thought I would mention, the much loved 1960's show wasn't strictly the original. There was a monochrome celluloid Batman serial in the 1940's. Though they were seen in cinemas as television hadn't yet become as common a fixture in people's homes.
The TV show was Great, I seen all the episodes.
Hope he didn't do Yvonne Craig, I wanted to marry her and sent a proposal letter to the studio. Never got an answer back, I guess it was because I was only 11 and didn't have a job.
3:30
Good heavens. Is that Leslie Gore in the cat ears? Lucky Burt. If all he got was a kiss (because it was her, after all) that's reason enough to envy him.
I,used to love watching Batman as a kid. It was a little bit campy and funny not all Serious like the new Batman movies are.
Burt Ward could easily play the lead in a new rendition of the superhero Fatman.
Ugh, now I have awkward images in my mind. "Golly gee catwoman, you sure look swell naked. Gosh darn, something's happening in my tights".
I looked up Burt Ward's personal wealth the other day, $20 million, from creating specialist Dog food. Glad everything turned out well for him.
The 1966 series was not “the original”. The first was in 1943, the second was in 1949. This was the third
I loved watching the reruns as a kid
We're happy to know that you loved watching Batman. Which episode appealed to you the most?
And today on, "Things that aren't a shock to anyone." haha.
I still enjoy watching the original 1960's Batman series. I have the dvd collection. I will always view Adam West and Burt Ward as the real Batman and Robin as well as the people who played the 4 main arch criminals to be the real and only Penguin. Joker, Riddler, and Catwoman.
As a Kid at that time was so fun watching Batman ..New Batman movie went wrong
Ah, the memories... We're glad you enjoyed this video. What other types of videos would you like to see?
