Super Glide Dynas are a good bike to transition into especially the ones with mid controls. Rode standards and sport bikes for years and don’t care about riding the fastest bike anymore. Enjoy just cruising and taking in a relaxing ride. Nice take on riding a Dyna
Just paid off my 2012 FXDC - bought 4 years ago for 8K with about 6K mile. Love my Dyna!!! Upgraded to Studded Mustang 2-up, studded saddles,, Drag Specialty shocks. Got 'er dialed in. Love my Dyna.
Great bike. Owned a 88 inch Super Glide & now own a 96 inch Super Glide Custom. Perfect size, power & weight for me.... cannot rave about these bikes enough. Buy one.
I have an 09 I bought from a fellow with a stage one kit installed (Better intake and full exhaust). Great bike, thought was pretty quick, it was neck and neck with all my buddys bikes with the 103ci. Put some s&s 583 cams in there with the gear drive with 23,000 miles. It now runs like a striped ass ape. Very fast and very fun to ride. Great torque through all 6 gears. If anyone is thinking about getting a dyna with a 96. DO IT!
I'm riding a 94 fxrp s&s carb fwd controls mustang seat shotgun pipes my next move is a six speed trans and windshield bugs don't taste as good as they used to . I'm 70 years old been riding over 55 years me and the old evo got many more years to go ride safe God bless.
John Yule + Good for you. I ride a 1995 Superglide, 17000kms no computers, single cam, started playing up and changed the plugs and good as new again. Simplicity rules. Also parts are cheap.
I'm 37 and haven't started riding with the exception of some dirt bikes way back but plan to soon and want to eventually get a Dyna after a starter bike or two. Looking at Intruders, maybe a V-Star. Anyhow I know the windshield thing is a matter of preference but do bugs ever hit right in the eye or anything pretty serious? It's some phobia I have I think and I am thinking just start with a windshield...if I do I'm thinking I'll never ride without one again lol.
Bought my 1ts Harley last year a 05 super glide FXD 5spd EFI Twin Cam 96ci just did 1500miles in 5days pretty much didn't miss a beat absolutely love my Dyna....
I loved my Dyna, brought new September 1st 2001, it was the official launch of the then new twin camb 88ci here in the UK, I put 20,000 miles on it in 4 years, it never once let me down, I had the stage 1 kit added after the first 1000 miles, it is to this day the best bike I've ever owned or ridden, due to an illness progressing to the point where I could no longer ride I had to sell all 3 of my Harleys, it was a very sad day for me, if I ever get to a point in my life where I can ride again I will do my all to find my Dyna and try to buy it back, even if it's a pile of parts now I will put it back together and have at least one last ride before I join the great gig in the sky !
I just bought an 02 Dyna wide glide CVO and I am in love big time with it. Blue and silver. Sorry to hear you had to sell your bikes, and are going through a progressive illness that makes you not able to ride. I hope you find some good information pertaining to whatever you have and aren't just accepting whatever outcome western medicine says will happen. You might try listening to Dr Andrew Kaufman, he seems very brilliant. God Bless Brother.

I love my Superglide. I like my mid pegs but I also need to stretch my legs out because I do travel on it so I opted to put highway pegs on it. I have been torn on putting forward controls on it but I live in Ohio on the West Virginia border and there have been times I've topped a hill and all of a sudden the road goes from asphalt to big gravel from where the road slipped and it was fixed temporarily. Needless to say being able to stand on the mid pegs in thosr situations have come in handy. I recently put an Andrew's tw37 cams and screaming eagle carb kit, new pipes etc on her and she came alive. Ive had my 2003 FXD since she was brand new, She is my best friend.! Amazing bike.
Had a road king. Sold it. Mostly do around town and back road twisty riding. I’m 6’6 300lbs and rode my neighbors dyna low rider that has extended fowards and 12” apes. Thing was a blast!
Ive had several softails, which I really liked, and a 2014 Streetglide, which I liked, but more cruiser than I desired. I recently picked up a 2003 superglide with very low miles, and super clean. Ive ridden it for a month or so now, and its the easiest bike to ride Ive ever been on. Its in shop getting many personal things done to make it " MY BIKE ".. I will now have my personality stamp on it. It will be 13000 miles of riding before I go in and put new cams, oil pump, and gear drive.. These bikes are very simple and not many frills, however it seems to be a great bike in both price and options.
I owned an flstc years ago it was an EVO motor and it was great for the time. I currently own a 2006 VTX 1800 C and I absolutely love that bike! Power and torque and every gear and worth every penny that I paid for it. for me personally, there is nothing appealing or Innovative about Harley-Davidson anymore. I'm not bashing Harley in anyway, it's just for the same money I can buy a Harley I can probably buy two great bikes.
I have a 2010 FXDC-I with 8,00 miles that is identical to that but scarlet red. I have a Stage 1, Power Commander-V, Progressive mono-shock, Cycle works fork brace, Ohlins blackline shocks, Michelin commander II tires, Harley Tallboy saddle and LED all around. I love this MC. I was in a bad accident in 2006 and gave up riding. In 2016 I got a Ducati (my second), but did not riding it. I decided to try a H-D and found this one for $6,200 with 7,200 miles. It was 130 miles from my house, but I wanted to try it. The bike was spotless and they let me ride. Upon returning I wrote a check on the spot. I joined my local H.O.G and have ridden 1,200 miles in the past 4 months. I agree with Sean, the nearly perfect motorcycle.
I have a 2012 Super Glide Custom. Love it. Put on forward pegs for the highway. Took it to Sturgis, handled Needles Highway with no problem. Glad I had mid controls for that.
Needles is a great ride, I rode it in 2013 and again this year, on my StreetGlide. This year, when I rode the Iron Mountain Road, There was almost no traffic in the morning, so I turned around and rode it in the other direction!
Good review. I own a 2013, it's a great bike. To me it is like the stripped down Harleys of the sixties. Times have changed, today people want big bikes, but back then we wanted sleek custom creations and this is similar to what we used to build. We would not have been caught dead riding a bagger. But I have to admit that the bigger bikes are more comfortable on long rides.
Got a 2003 100anniversary edition super glide. Rinehart exhaust, high performance cam shaft, forward cursing pegs, with 18" apehangers, braided clutch and brake lines. LOVE IT!!
A Dyna is the perfect beginner bike. They're affordable, durable, light and powerful but not overtly powerful. They have the comfort of a cruiser and the nimbleness of a sport bike. Get a Dyna with mid controls and highway pegs and put some 12 inch t bars on them for better control and comfort. You can buy any Dyna but stay away from 2006's because they have transmission issues. If you're big on canyon carving, riding low in the turns and hitting the twisties, I'd recommend you stay away from switchbacks and wide glides. Lowriders are good bikes but their wider rake doesn't give them the ability to handle as well as super glides and street bobs. The difference is minimal but noticeable. If you're considering buying a dyna with an Evo, just fork out the extra grand and get an FXR. Same engine but on the lighter and stiffer frame it handles and accelerates a lot better.
@@MattCassCook A Dyna was my first bike. The Sportster was too top heavy and with a newbie strong wrist, I felt it was too fast. The Bagger was too heavy. The Dyna had the perfect weight balance and power to weight ratio for me
@@frozen2golden Fair play. What CC was the Dyna? Because now they are essentially 1600CC and a sportster is 883 (or 1200). The problem with newbies and torque is that.. you don’t feel the speed creep up until it’s too late! 😬
I had one with mids..but i put the forward highway pegs on mine so i could move my feet..and i have owed 3 dynas..also..Sit down spead em ride this aint no Sportster it a Superglide !!!!
I was originally all about forward controls. I'm 6'1", so I always just assumed that "over 6 foot, go forward" based on what everyone basically said and did. A buddy let me borrow is 06 FXD, and it was set up with Mids. I actually ended feeling more comfortable and stable in town and on crappy stretches of pavement, it's still nice to be able to stretch out on those long rides, but I'm a FT mid dude now though.
k s , I'm surprised forward controls are even legal, along with ape hangers. Forward controls, low seats, and high bars put you in the wrong position for decent handling and braking. There's a reason they make highway pegs - they're a nice option for being on the open road, otherwise you have the mids for around town and short rides. Enjoy.
I am 6ft1 and always looked at guys with mid controls as beginners not yet good enough to ride with forwards. Bought my bike slightly used with 1000 miles and had forwards - and it was comfortable but I decided to switch to mids and I love them, like the choice of mid or stretch out to forward travel pegs.
I’ve been riding since 1970. Can’t put a number on all the bikes I’ve owned. For me, forward controls suck. The worst for handling. Agree with the other comments, forward pegs nice to stretch out on but that’s it. Poser forward controls.
I am with you I like mid controls. Put Hwy bars on for long hwy cruises. I also love the Buck horns. I had them on my first Sportster and I wish harley would still use them. The Super Glide is a little step up from a Sportster, but for the weight I would probably choose the Sportster. I wish they would shave off 100 lbs. off of all their cruiser bikes, make them so much more nimble for the windy rds..I hate driving on freeways,(boring) If I went cross country I would go Rt.2 or Rt.66.
Highway PEGS are fine (I downshift and brake with my heels if needed) but mid controls do not let the rider lift themselves off the seat when surmounting bumps (or suicidal critters). Dyna mid control parts can also be used to mount mids where they never existed (drill and tap a square block, align, then weld from the bottom there being no functional reason to weld the top which can be joined if the bike is ever torn down for paint).
Super Glide is one of the best ever H.D. made. Mid controls are very nice. That bike fits me. I've owned one, a shovelhead, & loved it. An FXRS model with the speedo & tach at the handlebar. Perfect. 1st ride was 500 miles. The breakin. Put me & the bike in a motel. Next day, rode home.
Thats a super glide custom FXDC I had a 2010 bought it brand spanking new! Loved that bike! Wouldn't mind having another one but my street glide aint going anywhere!
@David Pyc what are forward controls? And this is a bike I want but I'm 37 and the biggest bike I've ridden is a mini bike and moped if those count. I'm thinking of starting on an Intruder or a 500. Maybe a V-Star. I just want to do it right.
David Pyc my father has the same bike, that one day unfortunately will be mine when he passes away he’s always wanted to get it painted red with a pinstripe and a big bars on it but doesn’t have the time or money to, one day hope to finish it off for him and get it all fixed up
I like the looks of the Super Glides. I heard they are not good first choice Harleys? I'm not sure why that is wrong, but just looks like a universal style Harley Davidson anyone can ride.
Soon Ill have my truck fixed and sold and with that money I'll have a suer glide or a wide glide. My only form of transportation. It'll be a dream come true😅
That's what I'm getting for mine. A place to stretch my legs out is more important than being able to shift while my legs are extended. Especially since highway pegs are less than 100 bucks and Harley wanted 1000 to install forward controls on mine. Just not something I would want to try and do myself.
Just picked up a '08 Dyna SG this past Nov. I'm in Chicago and I've been counting the days til we got some sweet weather around here. It's in storage at the HD dealership and although the weather has been pretty nice the past few days, I'm not planning on getting it out from storage til April 1st.
correct. Try a Sportster with mid-controls and put highway pegs on. Then, when your feet are on the highway pegs, use your heals to brake and shift.... Worked for me.
A Babbit that is exactly how my Superglide was set up. At 5’7” 165 lb rider, it was perfect both around town and on the highway. I did change the handle bars to wide glide bars.
Have put 80,000 + miles on a Superglide .No problems no complaints, I also don’t baby it , practically never “ warsh” it . As a machinist I made a couple of add ons out of scrap airplane parts. After a lifetime of riding various bikes I am still alive (75 years old and still ride) and never seriously injured . I attribute that , First to Gods Protection, and Second to not driving crazy or trusting traction too much . Stay Safe Everyone! Trust God !
there was a motorcycle publisher years ago name Petersen or something close ,anyway he said he never met a motorcycle he didnt like ,you are like that fellow...also I like it when you hit that round about and do the full tour ,always makes me smile ,thanks for another great review..also greeting s from Vancouver Island British Columbia .
I grew up riding the rice burners. And when I got my driver's license I got a KZ 900. Loved that bike. Always loved the sound of the Harley. Looking to get a Super glide for sure. Thanks for your video. Have to ask. Why the scripture. ? 👍
Hey fellas if you ever get a bike like this one that needs work and parts but runs I will gladly take it off your hands. It would be my first motorcycle. Don't forget to tune in the the Harvest crusade goes on starting today thru the weekend
Super glide is my favorite , it's lighter, more nimble, easier to maneuver in any situation. So now they quit making them, this day and time that makes perfect sense.
Mid controls and no floor boards is a deal breaker for me. The Evo is bullet proof I sold both my twin cams after working on other guy twin cams. I personally never had any issues with my twin cams but they were both low mileage bikes. I picked up a low mileage very clean one owner 98 FLSTF and I am really likening it. It don't have the power my twin cams had but compared to my 72 FLH the Fatboy is a rocket. I like those glove you got there.
I bet it is. The 2017s are small and the 103 engine didn't feel hardly that much stronger then my 88. My 2003 Victory V 92C had more power then that 103. And a better riding bike then that 2017 softail deluxe. I love my Road King Classic.
I have owned many bikes now ride a 14 dyna fxdc - last bike I will buy, perfect bike. Great to customize how you want. You can set it up for long distance or hot rod it, club style, stunt whatever. Im still young and like to rip through turns and crank on straight aways but I can see when Im like 60 Going to buck horn bars windshield etc - will never sell mine
I brought 2009 Harley fxdc 4-5 years ago the colour is black ice Pearl which is actually 2 tone blue/purple I have a 190 rear tyre but really want it lowered still only 10,000m
Had a 2007... As a good captain i went down with my ship... God i miss that fuckin bike BUT ill never hang up my helmet and already got me a softail deluxe! 2 wheels or no wheels boys, always.
Round abouts and Fosters beer. Should’ve left them where they came from. Might be getting me a 2007 super glide with 5800 miles for under 9000$$. Nice video bro.
I do own this bike and generally i love it. I do like the chrome on this bike and the custom parts that it has compared to the fat bob for instance. I could not stand the pedals in the middle because i'm tall and need room for the legs, so i mounted the pedals in the front. Had problems in the beginning with the spokes as they became loose and the bike started to wobble. The bike is not suited for long tours because when you ride on the highway the wind blows you off the seat with a speed above 110km/h. You have cooler sounding exhausts. The originals are uncool. The cool sounding ones are all illegal here except J&H and they are hell of expensive. I had an issue with the back suspension. I drove a bad road at 80km/h and there was a hump on the road. The suspension came to it's limit and the back wheel got a hit. After that i had the rim deformed and needed to repair it. Since then i changed my back suspension to progressive suspension and never had issues with this anymore. Although i would want a larger bike now, i love this one and will not ever want to part from it.
Not another talking handlebars video . Go to Kaplan Cycles to see how it's done . Boring , I want to see the bike . If you're going to buy a Harley , make the decision and take what you get , good and bad .
I have an 08 super glide. Is that clank normal when you shift? It's not only from N to 1st but also from 1st to 2nd and 2nd to 3rd. I don't really notice it from 3rd on though. Also I haven't messed with it but is that little piece of leather on the tank replaceable? Mine is starting to curl up on the edges and it is bugging the crap out of me.
my 05 clanks, doesn't really bother me. when I ride i like the hear the bike. No stereo on my bike. I want to hear it, breathe, shift and run. old lady says buy a sound system. I say if yo want hear music go home or go watch a band.
awesome bike-i have an '07 with forward controls and QD windshield and QD sissy bar luggage rack; i still love my Sporty but this is a whole nother bike
Geeeesh all of a sudden it's Shawn with the sound thru the roof!! I think we need a better exit there. At least you remembered to turn the mic off when you went to the bathroom.
Sean - Totally unrelated question, just something that struck my mind. You're about the same size as me, have you ever tested the Yamaha TDM900? It's the best, most comfortable motorcycle i have ever driven/owned, bar none! Would love to hear your take on it! Cheers!

Can we circle the roundabout a few more times.
Super Glides Rule. best model HD makes. Handles great, lighter, and faster
3M should sponsor you because those post it notes go through HELL and still hang on. God Bless!
I love my dyna, it’s a 2017 Wide Glide with the 103 high output love the way it rides and handles
Joseph Hughes
I love the wide glides, got a 15 that’s not a high output but still has plenty of torque
Yea I think the High output was in 16 and 17 not must difference just a high flow breather element and a bigger cam from the factory
Thats a super glide custom FXDC I had a 2010 bought it brand spanking new! Loved that bike! Wouldn't mind having another one but my street glide aint going anywhere!
Here because I’m interested in a Dyna Super Glide, but I couldn’t help but notice the SS at 7:21.
Bought a 97 Super Glide this morning for $3000. Cheers. Fell in love with the bike. I'll be hanging onto for as long as I can.
They are like 8k euros in Europe, i want One sooooo badly 🥲
What's the difference between the street bob and super glide?
Got me a Super Glide with forward controls and 14” bars. LOVE ❤️ THIS BIKE
@David Pyc what are forward controls? And this is a bike I want but I'm 37 and the biggest bike I've ridden is a mini bike and moped if those count. I'm thinking of starting on an Intruder or a 500. Maybe a V-Star. I just want to do it right.
@David Pyc thank you sir!
@David Pyc learned a lot thank you. Been watching blockheads videos too. Very informative
@David Pyc thank you David will do. Will come back here when I do start riding to touch base.
Julian
David Pyc my father has the same bike, that one day unfortunately will be mine when he passes away he’s always wanted to get it painted red with a pinstripe and a big bars on it but doesn’t have the time or money to, one day hope to finish it off for him and get it all fixed up
Nice review! FYI. The handlebars are called Pullbacks. Buckhorns have a way more pronounced curve
I like the Super Glide also I like the mid controls. Its a nice bike I wish they still made em.
I want a Dyna Super Glide really, really bad. Just sold a bike I had for 2500. Might sell a few more things and pick one up.
I have a super glide but I really love how the wide glides are raked out a little more
I have a 2006 35th anniversary and it's awesome im 6ft 1 all the Dynas have a bracket for highway pegs just to let you know
Could forward controls be installed?
That's what I'm getting for mine. A place to stretch my legs out is more important than being able to shift while my legs are extended. Especially since highway pegs are less than 100 bucks and Harley wanted 1000 to install forward controls on mine. Just not something I would want to try and do myself.
Also have a 35th anniversary. Love my bike. Btw it does have forward controls
Hab an 2001 superglide with an 88, loved that bike. Plenty of power. Easy to handle in Houston traffic, great on long trips across country.
Just bought a 2009 Superglide Custom and am in love with it!
I love my 08 FXDC (same bike). Got it for a steal 2yrs ago with 18k miles for $5500. Now it’s done up proper.
Just picked up a '08 Dyna SG this past Nov. I'm in Chicago and I've been counting the days til we got some sweet weather around here. It's in storage at the HD dealership and although the weather has been pretty nice the past few days, I'm not planning on getting it out from storage til April 1st.
Why are your newer videos blank at the end for so long?
To make someone ask a question about it? :-D
RUclips has an algorithm that determines pay to video owners longer videos more money
Why can't we have bikes with both mid and forward control?
ChaohsiangChen you can. Bike with mids and highway pegs.
@@ababbit7461 see my post
Have put 80,000 + miles on a Superglide .No problems no complaints, I also don’t baby it , practically never “ warsh” it . As a machinist I made a couple of add ons out of scrap airplane parts. After a lifetime of riding various bikes I am still alive (75 years old and still ride) and never seriously injured . I attribute that , First to Gods Protection, and Second to not driving crazy or trusting traction too much . Stay Safe Everyone! Trust God !
Did you notice a lot of vibes at certain rpms? The one I tried had some heavy vibes in the foot pegs.
there was a motorcycle publisher years ago name Petersen or something close ,anyway he said he never met a motorcycle he didnt like ,you are like that fellow...also I like it when you hit that round about and do the full tour ,always makes me smile ,thanks for another great review..also greeting s from Vancouver Island British Columbia .
My 04 FXDwas great. Kept mid controls; added folding highway pegs from the Low Rider FXDL. Miss it, looking to replace my FXD now.
I loved my Superglide. It was was amazing. I'll say though that I do prefer my Night Train over it for size feeling.
Certainly not an electra glide but light with lots of power and nimble. It's a narrow glide
Sean, I'm a Harley fan but also a huge Yamaha fan. I test ridden the 2017 Softail Deluxe and my old V Star 1100 was a better riding motorcycle.
Baird's Bikes Videos Yamaha’s have more power , better acceleration , better suspension , better handling !! and they don’t WOBBLE
I’d say you should’ve test ride the 2018 because it’s light years better then the 2017.
I bet it is. The 2017s are small and the 103 engine didn't feel hardly that much stronger then my 88. My 2003 Victory V 92C had more power then that 103. And a better riding bike then that 2017 softail deluxe. I love my Road King Classic.
Baird's Bikes Videos well the 18 has the better suspense and I’ve heard a number of guys with 110 motors say that the m8 107 is faster.
It has to be because of the 4 valves per cylinder.
Got me a 2007 dyna super glide forward controls and huge apes. Want to switch these into Z bars or some smaller apes.
so where's the highway bit?
I wish i had dyna money. Just got sportster money.
Just got dyna money. Now to find a decent one.
Nothin wrong with a sporty. I love em. Just too big for em haha
$3,500 just picked up a beautiful’95 just sayin lol
@@hootiehaase6812 gotten myself a fxdx-t from 2002. Pretty nice bike. What did you pick up?
Frank Foot986 is the Dyna bigger in size than a sportster? I’d like a Dyna but don’t want a small one but not too big
I own one but it has been blacked out mostly with 14 inch trackers bars 2011 fxdc 1585 a beast compared to iron 883 it also has a danmoto 2into1
I brought 2009 Harley fxdc 4-5 years ago the colour is black ice Pearl which is actually 2 tone blue/purple I have a 190 rear tyre but really want it lowered still only 10,000m
How much would you pay for a 20k miles bike with some mods?
6k and up
sounds like ChrisFix
The handlebars on the Indian Springfield are somewhat similar to these in the angle of the grips. It's a natural position.
Had a 2007... As a good captain i went down with my ship... God i miss that fuckin bike BUT ill never hang up my helmet and already got me a softail deluxe! 2 wheels or no wheels boys, always.
6 speeds.... what are the extra 2 for? was 4 not enough? Lol my bike is old and I love it😅
Are his handle bars crooked?
7:25 me everywhere I go 😂
Other than my road king I traded for my Electra Glide this type of bike would be a good second bike for around town one up riding
Really??? How many Cubic inches do you need to get out of town?
sfbdotcom hahaha can’t ever have just one bike,
Round abouts and Fosters beer.
Should’ve left them where they came from.
Might be getting me a 2007 super glide with 5800 miles for under 9000$$. Nice video bro.
Gottta 05 super glide, 90,000 miles with a lot of scars and bruises but i would nevwr get rid of her!
How is this compared to the Vulcan 900 Custom? Looking for something fairly similar (it's Harley twin ) lol
Had the exact same year and model
Why all the dead air?
What year is this glide?
It’s not a Wide Glide.
I’m into the mid controls, I’m 6’ n find mid controls still comfortable
I'm 6' but have 34" inseam....same as a 6'4" cousin! Rode an 02 last night. Would put forward controls on for sure.
Not another talking handlebars video . Go to Kaplan Cycles to see how it's done . Boring , I want to see the bike . If you're going to buy a Harley , make the decision and take what you get , good and bad .
What happened to the highway?
I would try that this spring but i wouldn't chance it
I have an 08 super glide.
I’m told it’s a great beginner bike “for men”..🤷🏻♂️
Have you ever tried a 1971 Super Glide Fx?
Ive had my fxd super glide for years and its been reliable asf i couldnt ask for a better bike or engine
I AM CONFUSED. A SUPER GLIDE FXE IS A DYNA?
Dyna = exposed rear shocks
Softail = hidden shocks
Those bikes feel bigger because they stretch they wheelbase on them.......
the Yamaha V Star 950 is longer than a Roadglide
06 is the best 88inch it didn't have the bullshit that96 inch as, love my superglide.
aww yes the super glide a fancy sportster with the bigger engine
That twin cam has the shitty pressed flywheels. Vibration.
Mid controls
With travel pegs is the best
awesome bike-i have an '07 with forward controls and QD windshield and QD sissy bar luggage rack; i still love my Sporty but this is a whole nother bike
Geeeesh all of a sudden it's Shawn with the sound thru the roof!! I think we need a better exit there. At least you remembered to turn the mic off when you went to the bathroom.
7:12 Bruh. What did that smell like?
.
Sean - Totally unrelated question, just something that struck my mind. You're about the same size as me, have you ever tested the Yamaha TDM900? It's the best, most comfortable motorcycle i have ever driven/owned, bar none! Would love to hear your take on it!
Cheers!
I drive my car and I ride my bike. Didn't know Yamaha made cars???
