However, saying "him not playing defense" is pointless, is the same argument all Ohtani's fans had when he was being a great pitcher. If Ohtani's pitching is what won him the MVP last year, why can't Lindor's fans use his defense for the same reason?
The reason he was such a lock last year, was because he was MVP not because of his batting, not because of his pitching, but because of both.

    River Ryan just had TJ
    And the list goes on.
How many more TJ’s can Sho arm handle? 2 already. I guess if he can still hit-which he obviously can following TJ surgery, then ride him til the wheels fall off. But if he were to focus solely on hitting, I believe he’d win multiple triple crowns and go on Judge like tears. I can’t believe we get to watch this guy. I can’t believe anything about him.

Our team desperately needs pitching, people getting so many IL trips is the reason why pitching is so valuable. Ohtani can bat even with an injured arm, that's the reason we need his pitching. Him throwing a no hitter in the postseason would be worth way more then a season's worth of defence. Look at where our team is struggling, it's not the offense or the defense, it's the pitching. Our team is good enough to reach the playoffs but we can't win in the postseason with a battered pitching rotation.

Ohtani is great and deserves all the credit he gets, the only thing that bothers me is that Ozuna had better numbers most the year this year and last year vs harper... but yet rarely makes the conversation. I know exactly why, ohtani is the golden child and ozuna is lucky tobstill be playing because mlb for some reason decided not to blackball him. But when it comes to pure numbers.... cmon. You gotta atleast talk about Ozuna. And they (the media) dont.

    • @Nadine-sb3gh

Ozuna is woman abuser he doesn't deserve any promotion whatsoever. In fact he should be banned. Even if has better number than Shohei (which he's not) no one gonna vote for him.
