I can't stand going near the highway on my bike and that's unfortunate since sometimes the quickest way to get somewhere is to hop on the highway stick it and get to the exit you want. After riding a liter bike for a couple weeks and realizing how nice it can be to make a quick trip on the highway I can't look at the FZ the same anymore. The other thing that sucks about it is that nobody really wants a used FZ with how affordable they are new.
@@Osprey1994 I sold my pretty quickly for a decent price but they are relatively affordable new. I moved to a 2018 Yamaha R6, as I'm doing a lot of track riding now. But I heart you on prolonged highway riding. The wind could jostle your head around.
It's ok I personally wasn't blown away by it when I compared it to my FZ. Although my FZ had been reflashed at that point and I had been riding other bikes including a Hayabusa that day.
Calling the SV650 a "poor mans monster".. some people want japanese reliability over a italian "i hope my bike will start and not die on my in the middle of nowhere" bike. P.s. i own the new SV650, i have a Remus exhaust on it, and my buddy with a Ducati Monster 800 drewls over the sound it makes.
I'd go with the Arrow header and Two Bros can. Fork springs, thicker oil, rear shock, set of sticky tires, custom seat, and ride the wheels off it for 20 years without a single worry.
I was a Kawasaki fan big time. The FZ07 won me over because of the 270 crank and the sub-400 pound wet weight. It also has a full size sport touring tire on the back. The suspension is a little soft, but I use it to haul in my truck to work locations like the New Mexico Mountains, Pacific Ocean, Gulf Coast. Great for after work rides and weekend exploring.
AFAIK Harleys sold in the US are made in the US, the ones made in India are for the Asian/Australian market. The Benelli is only made in China, they bought the rights to use the name. If you like the looks I'd recommend a used 600 Hornet for the same price. ;)
Good review. I purchased my z650 a few days back. The break in period is a bit harsh. First 500 miles cannot go over 4k rpm.

Benelli comes VERY restricted, here in Argentina there are lots and they reach 90 rear wheel hp with a flashed ecm, if you look well it has four oxygen sensors, one per each cylinder exhaust manifold. Wonderful bike for the price.
I own an SFV650 (Gladius), and it's been overall a fantastic bike. My only real complaints are the torturously painful seat that always wants to munch and crunch "the boys", and adjusting the valves was quite a PITA on this engine. The valve service was such a PITA because, for one it's a "V", which meant two heads, four cams, two cam-chains, and two CCTs to deal with. And speaking of CCTs, the one for the front cylinder was damn near impossible to get to and work on. The engine area was also super cramped, and made the whole experience just that much more frustrating. Out of the bikes in this test, the FZ-07 and the updated SV650 are the only two that I'd be really interested in owning. I think that much flatter seat on the FZ-07 would be a welcome change from the nut-muncher on the SV650, and surely the valve service would be a whole lot easier as well; I suppose those two things alone would make the FZ-07 number 1 for me.
SV650 is perfect for beginner riders. Concerning the seat I can agree with you but there`s a reason. When they asked the engineering stuff their answer was: This seat is perfectly made to keep the rider active on this Bike :) !!!
Started visiting motorcycle.com in 1996, back when John Burns was about the same age I am now. I remember being worried he was going to quit motorcycles after he crashed that Buell on a track. So glad he didn't - he has always been my favorite motorcycle journo. Cheers John. Edit: He's wrong about the FZ-07 being the better looking bike though. It's the Z650 every day of the week. :D
I picked up the Z650 in January, and have not been disappointed. I was in the market for a naked sport to have something a little more comfortable to ride vs the R6. I looked at the FZ07, the SV650, and several others. Once I had a go with the Z, it was over. The bike feels great, and has a really solid and linear power curve. Since owning the bike, I've done quite a few mods and started a channel based almost solely around the Z650. From stock dyno, Yoshimura Alpha exhaust, an after dyno, then Rapid Bike ECU and custom tune, I've gained quite alot and dropped the curb weight to just under 400LBS. I've been pretty thorough documenting everything about the bike and how each mod performs for anyone looking for info. Check it out!
great video guys! I wish Yamaha would make a sportbike version of the FZ. As it stands now I'd have to go for the Ninja 650, or stretch to the Honda CBR650
I trust you guys almost completely in your reviews. You could have added the KTM 390 to this mix. just to see if it really hits way above its weight like it claims to do ! .. I love you guys .. You guys are the very best !
I speak from experience, I owned ktm 390 And a Honda cbr 650f which has about 86 bhp. I loved the ktm engine And never felt it vibrate crazy. I now own a gsx s1000. But I still miss riding my ktm 390 . Really fiesty bike
suresh kumar fair enough then. I've never driven it, so I'm just taking from what I've seen many people say compared to other 2+ cylinder bikes. I'm getting a Sv650 so I don't have to get another bike when I pass my a1 licence to increase hp.
I tested a new RC390 a few weeks back. Suprisingly sprite for a small single. Got up and moved out. Yet it's had it's mechanical issues. Electrical gremlins, head gasket leaks, and tends to run in the upper 2/3 heat range when it should run half or less. The display on the RC was useless, trying to see the revs and other data was almost impossible. Super fun bike however, so nimble and stable.
Lifted_Above fair enough. I'm soon getting a 47hp bike. But instead of getting a bike that I'll need to upgrade again for a bigger license, I'm getting a Sv650 and restricting it.
I have the 2018 Harley and yea the footpegs are odd at first but get used to them and they’re very comfortable after that. Different bars are a must and a pipe but it’s a great bike great quality I love it
Hey guys... 1st off, I really enjoy watching all your comparison shootouts. But I would really like to watch a shootout of a few bikes in the same category of the Harley Fat Bob... interesting to see what you get to compare. I think is the best Dyna from Harley, but would like to see a comparison with other brands. Thanks
ikr what the hell was HD thinking? Just stick to cruisers they suck at everything else. That's like vegan trying to justify why they can eat fish IT MAKES NO SENSE!
hey guys i am planning to buy HD street rod can u please suggest is the riding position is very bad or can be live with it type ?? and can handle bar raiser can solve the problem or not please reply only other option i have in India is Kawasaki z600 but japanese bike feels souless.
Got an old 1st gen SV650 in silver. Changed it a bit to fit my taste and make it unique. The thick tube frame looks bad ass. The sound with a Miiv is brutal. Back then even a 900cc Monster could barely hold up. I'd still pick it as a V Twin over the rest of the competition today, it can hold up after 20 years. But give me money and I'd rather step up to a Tuono or SV1000.
Green is Benelli's race color, it makes sense. I live in China and it's half the price of z650s, still not a good choice for me as Qianjiang-Benelli bikes all suck at reliability, endless repairing

Very little has changed in the 600cc supersport class since the last comparison they did. Literally only two things have changed. The R6 got a re-style and a few electronic gizmos and the previous winner the Daytona 675 was discontinued.
I have the fz 07 for about 2 years and so far great bike lots of torque. Only not so good on the highway gets a little light after 160km an hour just gotta tuck. Still happy with it and will keep it.
Can you make comparisons with z900 vs latest st765rs vs MVbrutale800 vs any other bike equal to 800 please @motorcycle.com. I am your great fan from India. All your videos are so super cool and genuine in your reviews. You make comparisons like no other media in the world , like this middle weight naked and retro sport shootouts are super awesome. Really useful before buying a bike, you are the best guide.
First of all, Good on Ya Thai! The AdultSpeak this time around brought your game way up! Second, when I think of the Harley, what comes to mind is the extreme discomfort on a long ride that is a result of the ergonomics AND the contact between the air cleaner housing and your right knee, which will definitely be bruised at the end of a ride. Z650 gets my vote.
At 5:18 I am pretty sure I heard that music on an Indian motorcycle test video. It irritated me there too. :) I have the Harley Street 750 and it has the same issue as the Harley Street Rod. The foot pegs just are not in the right postition. Which bike has the lowest seat height of the 3 winners? The only reason I got the Harley Street 750 was because I could reach the ground. I would love that Kawasaki. Thanks for the video.
you'd never make a wrong decision to buy any of japanese twin middleweight. i owned z650 for years, it has usability of 250 cc with power of 650cc, easy to ride, perfect cornering, great on fuel, cheap to run and reliable as rock. i abused it for 20000kms and sold, new owner is around 40000kms on the clock and still running great. i believe fz07 or sv650 also no different. also in addition, my friends were everytime on bigger bikes than mine on long trips. we were choosing to ride b-roads mostly, and zed never disappointed me ever once while i was trying to catch them. one of them owned gsx-s750 and the other one has xtz1200, but if you know what youre doing on curvy roads, zed has more than enough power to catch any bike thanks to its easiness.
Nice comparison vid. I just bought my friends 2007 SV650S for $1000 canadian (750 usd) has 12,000 kms on it and after 4 hpurs of cleaning and double checking everything... (the bike was stored in a shed for 5 years and only ran for a little while each summer). ... She fired up and runs like a champ, new fluids and gas of course. Looking foreward to my first Suzuki. -klr650 current bike -cbr954rr previous bike
M.R Raghav the cb650f was supposed to be i think but they couldn't get one, the gsx-s750 is more with the fz09, z900, street triple, etc. Both with price and hp
It would be interesting to see the comparison between the Z650 and the 2018 MT 07, because apparently Yamaha has fixed the sloppy front end on the 2018 model
I chose the MT07 bc it does everything good and has ABS standard. Second choice would've been the SV650. It used to be the most raced bike in America and maybe is but the MT07, while having an inferior suspension, has a superior motor. If I was stuck in race mode I'd definitely go SV but for commuter life I chose MT07 and love it.
The classic style of the sv650 does it for me
I've had my FZ-07 for over a year now and outside of getting a designated track bike, it has everything I need!
I can't stand going near the highway on my bike and that's unfortunate since sometimes the quickest way to get somewhere is to hop on the highway stick it and get to the exit you want. it's great to see y'all actually criticize some of the bikes! very refreshing, and a welcome change of pace.
Hey, will you guys do a Shootout with the Street Triple 765, GSXS 750, FZ09, Monster 821 and maybe the z900? It would be awesome!
I have always loved the SV650. Suzuki got it right the first time with this bike.
That is the best comparement of nakeds...thank you!
I think the SV650 looks better than the Z650 and FZ-07 personally, less plastic and looks more like a motorcycle.
agreed
You guys always give honest reviews man I really appreciate it you help me to pick out my brand new Kawasaki Z400 thanks
I choose the YamaKawaZuki...
Thanks for the video, I am looking into my next bike and I am between SV 650, FZ 07, Z650
I guess you can't go wrong with any of them.
I was choosing between sv650 and fz07. The dealer gave a great price on sv650. That's why I picked the sv650
5:26 love the little catch up wheelie 😂
Definitely digging the 4K quality! Keep up the great work!
Nothing like a honest review much appreciated
Suzuki SV650 is amazing to ride
SquidRides but ugly looking.
Brakes are a bit wooden, great proven engine tho,
It's ok I personally wasn't blown away by it when I compared it to my FZ. Although my FZ had been reflashed at that point and I had been riding other bikes including a Hayabusa that day.
LOVE the 4K beauty shots guys!
Man, your intro on this video is soooo much better than your intro to your other videos.

sv650 is very heavy. The seat doesn't bother me because im Asian. Only white guys complain about it since they have fat wide asses.
Yeah ducatis don't sound great imo.
A smart mans monster sounds better👌
Japanese products are Overpriced and overhyped.

If Benelli is China via Italy does that make the Harley India via US?
Slobodan Pavlovic wot?
Is that Harley made in India? If so yes, if not, then no.

harley 750's are made in india
The 750's are exported from India, yes but by Harley-Davidson themselves.
Really great idea to invite a lady along too, mix of opinions and viewpoints is great and adds so much more to the review.
Just got the kawasaki Z650.its a pleasure to ride 👌
Where's the Honda CB650F?
Can't get it in the US.
On the pole position in every review, except for North America, where you can't even buy it.

I read your comment before realizing it was you Tremonte! I said, wait a minute this guy sounds familiar.
lol
Tremonte I went to a stunt show with Jason Britton and ian gaines and they stunted the fuck out of a z650
I have an SV650 and a FZ07 and it's to close to call. The FZ has more power I think. Both are great to ride around town or long range
which one is more comfortable for taller riders?
you guys always do a great job!keep up the great work!

Need to do an update of this with the Honda CB650f!
FZ-07!
CycleCruza chiiiineeez scoota
lol
FZ-07 is made in Japan...
What about the Ducati Monster 797????
you obviously haven't seen CycleCruza's videos. XD CHINEEEESSSEEEEE SCOOOTAH...

Just say the HD sucks
It has a great motor. But the package feels like it was kicked around by a committee, and lost to the accessories department.
Sounds like they mostly don't like the riding angle. It does look awkward.
Shipmate it does suck... for the price it's not worth it.
John Jacob it looks like your knees would be in your chest.
ikr what the hell was HD thinking? Just stick to cruisers they suck at everything else. That's like vegan trying to justify why they can eat fish IT MAKES NO SENSE!
I am 5”8 185lbs. Can i flat foot it? Is it top heavy? with covid-19 all dealerships are closed to sit on one.
What jacket is the older man who has the yellow bandana wearing? I really like it
I also want to know
TheRiseAgainstFan1 Dianese Street Rider, looks like that, I could be wrong
hey guys i am planning to buy HD street rod can u please suggest is the riding position is very bad or can be live with it type ?? and can handle bar raiser can solve the problem or not please reply only other option i have in India is Kawasaki z600 but japanese bike feels souless.
What's the brown jacket my boy in the red aviators is wearing?
FZ-07
Got an old 1st gen SV650 in silver. Changed it a bit to fit my taste and make it unique. The thick tube frame looks bad ass. The sound with a Miiv is brutal. Back then even a 900cc Monster could barely hold up. I'd still pick it as a V Twin over the rest of the competition today, it can hold up after 20 years. But give me money and I'd rather step up to a Tuono or SV1000.
Can anyone tell me what that dainese jacket John had on is? I like it
What is up with that Benelli? Looks like it doesn't know what it is. The Kawasaki with the white paint and green frame looks great!
Reminded me of Mountain Dew^^
Green is Benelli's race color, it makes sense. I live in China and it's half the price of z650s, still not a good choice for me as Qianjiang-Benelli bikes all suck at reliability, endless repairing
Xie Jim you own a benelli?
No but there are a lot of BN300 and BN600s around and I swap bike with my friends with these 2 models very often. I have a CFMOTO 650, the second most popular Chinese middle weight . Big part of reason why I make moto friends is...we meet up in the repair shop with our Benellis and CFmoto every week, sometimes fixing them, sometimes modifying them with proper machined or imported parts
Xie Jim well I heard about cfmoto how their motorcycles are?
I own a TNT25 which you won't find in the US I've just started riding
in start had some issues but now is all good I don't know about the big models but I really think TNT 899 & 1130R are the real deal benelli must introduce them in USA.
Wish they would review the MV AGUSTA Brutale 800 :(
I like how the seats on the z650 and the sv650 are more set into the bike so you are more a part of the bike instead of on top of it
Wow! Specs in U.K. show z650 heavier that FZ07 (MT07) but you have them the other way around?
The MT/FZ 07 is a very hard bike to beat for the price, IMO it's one of the best bikes in it's price range.
for beginners the z650 is the best choice cuz its the only one with Assist & Slipper Clutch
The Sv is they only bike that looks like a bike, you got me👍
The guy with the yellow bandana. What brand jacket is he wearing? Looks really cool!
where's the middle weight sport bike shootout?
btw love these shootout videos keep them up
Very little has changed in the 600cc supersport class since the last comparison they did. Literally only two things have changed. The R6 got a re-style and a few electronic gizmos and the previous winner the Daytona 675 was discontinued.
i'd say the reviews aren't complete without John Burns in it
loved the guy
I have the fz 07 for about 2 years and so far great bike lots of torque. Only not so good on the highway gets a little light after 160km an hour just gotta tuck. Still happy with it and will keep it.
Z650 looks dope imo
Please tell me that a bike made in India is an American motorcycle?
Got a 2009 Versys 650, and that thing really handles.
why without honda cb650f ,it's middle weight naked bike?
Because, they didn't got one.
They're not available in the US yet.
Can you make comparisons with z900 vs latest st765rs vs MVbrutale800 vs any other bike equal to 800 please @motorcycle.com.

hey guys awesome review, totally covering everything.. can you guys do a shootout for the best 250bikes
i like the kawasaki Z650 model have the modern and sporty style .
MO should do shootout bewteen Z900 Vs FZ/MT 09 Vs Street Triple R Vs Brutale 800 Vs Shiver 900 Vs see which one is the king of the hill..
does anyone know what kevin duke's jacket is?? super dope
No triumph street triple?
Nice review
I've been waiting on a middleweight naked bike video for 2017.
i agree the yamakakasuzuki its the best
I think the Harley and Kawasaki easily look the best, but that SV650 just rides so nice
what jacket is john burns wearing?
What about the Suzuki GSX-S750?
The kawasaki z750 should have been a US Spec bike hands down on the sexiest naked bikes to ever exist
where's triumph street trple765 and the gorgeous brutale 800
If the triumph was in there,it would blow they others right out the water, different price range so it would be a bit unfair to compare 👍👍
Should do a part one and two, too many decent middleweights available at the moment, then a shootout with the best 3 out of each group.
you'd never make a wrong decision to buy any of japanese twin middleweight. i owned z650 for years, it has usability of 250 cc with power of 650cc, easy to ride, perfect cornering, great on fuel, cheap to run and reliable as rock. i abused it for 20000kms and sold, new owner is around 40000kms on the clock and still running great.
i believe fz07 or sv650 also no different.
also in addition, my friends were everytime on bigger bikes than mine on long trips. we were choosing to ride b-roads mostly, and zed never disappointed me ever once while i was trying to catch them. one of them owned gsx-s750 and the other one has xtz1200, but if you know what youre doing on curvy roads, zed has more than enough power to catch any bike thanks to its easiness.

Z650 or sv650 for first bike?
Your opinions please.!
SV650 is bigger than Z650 and have nice design. Z650 is ugly bike just for me. I am bought new SV650.
Where’s the new Brutale 800 RR?
thanks for the tips.
you've bien talking about the Ducati Monster... so why didn't you include it in this shootout?
Because it costs 10 grand, and these bikes were all in the 7 grand range except for the Harley.
So...except the harley ..AND..Ducati.
z650 or sv650?
What dubstep beat is that?????
cb650f and gsx750???
M.R Raghav Right????
Big Jake left both out :/
M.R Raghav the cb650f was supposed to be i think but they couldn't get one, the gsx-s750 is more with the fz09, z900, street triple, etc. Both with price and hp
Fz07 ❤
You guys should have Mr. Regular from Regular Car Reviews as a guest. He's a big bike guy.
Nice video, any word on US MSRP For the Honda 650f? Just to complicate things further...
It would be interesting to see the comparison between the Z650 and the 2018 MT 07, because apparently Yamaha has fixed the sloppy front end on the 2018 model
I like that girls Ascot hat, I miss that place and the Friday night motocross
Aprilia shiver 750 for me. Oh that’s not in the line up?
SV 650 😍
why no suzuki gsxs750
I chose the MT07 bc it does everything good and has ABS standard. Second choice would've been the SV650. It used to be the most raced bike in America and maybe is but the MT07, while having an inferior suspension, has a superior motor. If I was stuck in race mode I'd definitely go SV but for commuter life I chose MT07 and love it.
Suzuki gsx s750 ????
Nice bikes good job!
