Good post, Luke! I agree with Everything you post! But....one thing I would like to see is dragging the bikes against each other 0 - 100. They each can trade and do this test. It shows me how the acceleration curve, rpm and gearing matches the engine and if there are any flat spots.
I owned a 2015 FZ-07, and I now own a 2020 SV650. There’s definitely pros and cons for either one, but the SV650 shows that 20 years of experience. I haven’t ridden the slightly updated MT-07, but it’s due for a full update for 2021 and I’m curious to see if Yamaha fixes the suspension and brakes. The SV650 engine is a gem, but there’s something about the Yamaha CP2 that feels more special. The low-mid torque is definitely stronger and it’s a bit smoother with its power delivery. And it sounds badass uncorked while the SV sounds better stock. Can’t lose either way.
@@QuickRipzz I don’t own the SV650 anymore and I would buy an MT-07 before buying another SV, but I do miss it some days. I think they both sound amazing with a proper exhaust, but I’m fine with quieter/stock silencers. More likely I would now buy a V-Strom 650 so I do still like that engine.
Riding together had me rolling, that was something special. The greatest way to test a bike ever. So funny, thank you for that. Hop on the back bro lets test her out :)
Hey, thanks for this. These are the two bikes I was trying to decide between and after watching the video I decided to go for the SV650. I'm a bigger guy and I prefer the more "grow up" styling of the Suzuki. I bought it as my first bike and am super happy with it. Cheers!
Andrew Johnston I know it’s three years later but I’m curious how tall you are too lol. And how that bike worked out for you. I’m about 6’4 210 and having a hell of a time deciding on which bike out of a short list I have. I’d love to hear an update.
@@thatstheguy07 i'm 6,2" and bought the SV650X after test driving a normal SV650 and it's easily driveable and your legs are in a comfortable position. I rode an MT-07 on my driving lessons and i felt cramped on it, my knee hit the wide angle on the tank, so i couldn't comfortably sit all the way to the front of the saddle, thus having less grip while riding. Also the sound of the SV650 stock is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay better. The MT-07 sounds like a scooter, you need to invest in a good exhaust system.
Absolutely love my FZ-07, and with the Akrapovic Carbon exhaust, the engine has INSANE character. That said, I've always been a fan of the SV650, and anyone would be really happy with either bike.
Also sort of in the same situation (although not looking to immediately replace my Ninja 650). I used to have a '99 SV650 (loved it, but eventually traded it in because I could get some electrical issues fixed), so that gives me the want to have the SV650 again, but with the improvements that have been made to the 2018+ MT-07 (they changed it from the FZ-07 name) the MT-07 might just be the better all around bike, since they fixed some of the issues mentioned in this video (like the suspension), made it look more aggressive, and I like how they changed the headlight and moved the blinkers to the side.. When I do end up selling my Ninja and getting one of these two, it's not going to be easy. For instance, I'm not wild on the weird flyscreen thing above the light on the SV (really like the replacement they have for it on the Scrambler version of the SV they made in France, but I don't think that's available as a bolt on for sale), but I am also not sure I like how the 'tank' on the MT-07 is actually just a plastic cover that goes over the real tank, which you only see if you take it apart.
@@westi10001 i finally bought last week a new SV 650 With ABS grey and red Very nice bick. But as it's my first bike ever and didn't drive the Yamaha so I'm unable to compare them.It was my feeling who decided for me 😁
I love the gladius had one for 10 yrs believe it or not it has grown on me I am now 71 yrs young and this is the best bike I've ever owned ps. Love your channel
Love my SV650. Yeah it has soft suspension and maybe not the best brakes out there (i can still lift the rear tire in a emergency stop) but most the people i ride with still cant keep up with me on the mountain roads, And thats on a 16 year old bike with little over 74k miles. I have owned quite a few bikes, CBR, a couple GSXR, Katana a couple dual purpose bikes but there's something about the SV that just makes it really fun to ride.
Got the 2021 SV650 and absolutely no regrets! The power band is awesome, power’s available all through 6th gear. The MT-07 plateaus early while the SV still pulls all the way to the end.The looks? I dunno but the SV is like magic, it looks exponentially better with a rider on it.
I went for the fz07 and fell in love with it. I think i will never sell it. With some modifications you can make it just like you want it (a lot of choice in products). The only thing i dislike is the small gas tank.
I am a 71 yr old Sv 650 rider and I love it ,super grunty engine plenty of low torque ,keeps up with my mates bigger bikes no problem and a real good looking bike.
SV650 owner here. Much cheaper to maintain, better fuel economy, and its been around for over 2 decades now. Mt07 is great for urban 10-min rides, but the Suzuki is a better all round machine!
I have owned both bikes at same time rode both for different reasons but sold fz 07 to a friend he loves it still have the sv 650 enjoy the hell out of it both great bikes
I absolutely love my Sv. I have replaced the mirrors to some bar end ones which look nicer to me. I also plan to use a tail conversion kit to remove the "Bikini" on the back of the bike. There is already a absolutely lovely spike that comes to a point at the tail of the bike and shouldn't have been covered with the mud flap. Overall I love riding this bike, and it sounds like a beast, love that Vtwin sounds.
This popped up in my YT feed...I know it’s important to switch things up, set new goals etc and you both had a few things to get through but you really were a great, fun and respected combo with this series...I’m 2 weeks away from passing my full test here in the UK (exhaustive and expensive), learning on an SV (love it) after 3 years (ok, 33 years...) procrastination...So many bikes but have settled on Triumph looking at the Street Twin for urban (a 2016 I’ll mod) and a 2007 ST1050 for holidays... I know we can’t roll the clock back but please get back in the saddle making quality content as above..
Great editing and your chemistry is off the charts together. Very much enjoyed watching and you guys aren't annoying at all. Glad you two are making this channel better every video
awwwee mannn. I miss my sv650. what a sweet heart of a bike...not that fast, suspension wasn't that great and the brakes were ok.. but she was so much fun to zip around on. And reliable...that's a big one for me..bought used and owned for 5 years..not one issue.
I'd have (another) SV650. My first bike was an '00, complete with its flat spot in the carburation. I put a small windshield on it, a big tail bag, a big tank bag and did tens of thousands of miles' worth of touring on it. After that, I went to bigger bikes, but they weren't any more fun. The only bike I've had so far that was as fun as this was the old '94 Ninja 250.
I assume a lot of people are here to compare the bikes and that some are interested in buying one (although I watch plenty of vids about bikes I'm not interested in). So for those who are interested in the SV, here's a few things I have to say after 10,000 miles on the 2017 with ABS. First of all, it's a great bike, very peppy with the V twin. It handles great and you and really lean the hell out of it. I have some aftermarket luggage because I want to tour on it. As a touring bike, not amazing. The seat really sucks after like 3 hours. And having your knees up as high as they are starts to hurt too. All that said, I'm probably the only moron who wants to tour with it. As a city bike its great. Around NYC, I've had no problems with it. Engine is manageable at low speeds and it's easy to lanesplit as a result. But it also has enough get up and go to get the hell out of the way of something. Stops pretty well too. Only engaged the ABS once or twice and only on the back wheel. Passengers don't really like the back seat but I took someone to Philly on it and they managed. Maintainence is easy. Have done the oil a few times, radiator fluid (even though I probably didn't need to) and chain slack. TL;DR: Everything is cool except the seat. Edit years after posting this. Currently at 30k miles. I don't tour on it much anymore. Did ride it east coast to the four corners to Yellowstone and back tho.. I caught the track bug. Love it on the track but you will need rearsets. Looking into suspension, clip ons, and full exhaust too.
Someone posted in another SV video thread that for touring, they wear bike pants (bicycle underwear) which has some built in padding for your ass :) I'd never thought about it but it's actually a pretty good idea!
I have a 2018 SV650 and after a month of riding I couldn’t handle the seat anymore. I upgraded to the Holeshot Corbin seat for the bike and I’m soooo much happier. No more sore butt.
Been researching between these two bikes for months. I love them both. I solely went with the SV650 for ABS as of now. When the FZ-07 comes out with ABS on different color models, and they become more readily available and cheaper-- I may buy one, or just go straight to a Street Triple. I honestly don't think you could go wrong with either bike-- they are both great bikes!
I've got 2.5 years and 18k miles on my FZ07. 0 issues. Only time It's been down was when I had a flat tire. I've ride it in 110 degree weather and 10 degree weather. It just works, and keeps on working. I'm 6'2"@230lbs.
I don't know why people are hating on the gladius. if you get a different license plate holder and exhaust the bike looks awesome. The headlight looks better than lots of other motorcycles and the overall design is very nice.
that updated sv650 has been a long time coming lol ..... I think they did a good job...... Now I wonder what it will sound like with an after market exhaust :D..... because the old version sounded bad ass :D
it sounds exactly the same as the old bikes because the engine is still 99 percent the same! :) The badass sound that my original 1st Gen has can be found in the new one too!
Both these bikes sound awesome with aftermarket exhaust, like they said in the video you can't really go wrong with either. Personally I'm rocking the SC Project system on my FZ07 and frequently get comments on how mean it sounds
I agree. Stock FZ-07 exhaust looks better, but then the FZ-07 looks kind of ugly overall. The tail looks great, but the front is bleh. SV650 looks better all around imo
Id personally be happy with either bike. My only gripe are those front turn signals on the fz-07. They look so cheap and floppy when you hit bumps. Easily remedied though just like the exhaust.
Suzuki Sv650... 2019 model..... Nice bike with Yoshimura slip on.... Toll tuck seat.... Led indicators.... Crash knobs.... Tail tidy..... Meter fairing..... Tyre huggers.... Frame huggers.... Damn looks so hot, cool and amazing. Having tested both..... Sv650 is way better than lots of other bikes.... ABS as standard....
The Yamaha has standard ABS too. I like the look of the SV better too but the exhaust is hideous (which you can change) and so is the rear swing arm (which is alot harder to swap out)
Great video guys. Thanks for uploading. Having rode both bikes objectively I preferred the SV mainly due to the V-twin and was totally underwhelmed by the MT07. But that was when it was launched in 2014 and my expectations were probably too high after all the reviews at the time. Perhaps I need to ride it again.
De lunes a viernes manejo una 150cc y los fines de semana la sv650 y de verdad no pienso venderla por nada en muchos años, es divertida, cómoda, fácil mantenimiento, me encanta su estilo !
Wow, a motorcycle video review that was actually worth watching. I've been partial to my SV650/DL650 that I've owned and have steered several friends to buying their first used SV because they are solid and affordable bikes. I wouldn't mind trying the new FZ07 now...
I just bought the 2018 SV650 with ABS and it was a close call because initially I wanted the MT-09 and then narrowed it down between the MT-07 and SV650. I watched this video over and over even after I bought the bike already and other comparison videos. Mainly because I love these guys together and they crrrraaack me up. However, recently my partner picked up a 2005 Yamaha FZ-1 because I was going to ride my 1982 Honda CX-500 to Babes Ride Out. I wanted to show up on my crusty mad max with the PA plates. Deep down he didn't he didn't think it would make it (I had rode it from Pgh to Austin and he rode it from Austin to Oakland, CA) and he thought it would be slow; doable but just that I needed a more reliable California bike for the long and faster mph roads. He was right. I started the ride from the Bay to Joshua Tree on a 1995 Honda VFR800. I thought it was both fun and scary at first because my everyday bike is a 1996 DR350. The VFR was a little more aggressive for me and the forward lean was not uncomfortable but I wasn't used to it. Once we got to the twisties in Yosemite, I had a mini 3 minute mental breakdown. I looked over a cliff without barricades and stopped breathing and lost confidence. Luckily, there were not many cars behind me so I just got back on the rode and drove slower and got my groove back. On the next pull out I wanted to trade bikes. At first I did not like the FZ. It wasn't a looker and when I sat on it, it compressed and I felt it was squishy and my leg position was higher off the ground with my knees parallel to the ground. I was worried that the bike won't be too heavy especially with the luggage. This was also the biggest motorcycle in terms of CC's that I would have ever rode but I became uncomfortable on the VFR after about 4 hours of riding and we still had at least two hours to go to get to our hotel. After about an hour, I was fully comfortable on the FZ-1. I appreciated how fast and smooth it was and that compression when I got on helped me touch the ground more and that all added to my confidence. Being able to pass slower vehicles, big trucks, and maneuver around anything dangerous fast and smoothly was awesome. That leg position I ended up finding to be so comfortable and even on windy highways, it was nice to be able to lean forward and deflect the wind a bit or sit up right almost as upright at a dual sport and have all that power. Oh yeah, back to the SV650. So, I got a little bummed because I was having a great time on the FZ-1 and declared that it was my bike now, which he said was fine because he really liked the VFR. I was bummed because after the fabulous BRO weekend, we had to stash our bikes to our CA cave and fly back home to Pittsburgh where it's beautiful Fall but it's raining and Winter is Coming!! I felt my SV650 was "too small" now. Although I do miss the FZ, Ari is right. The SV650 is so lean with the tank between my knees and the height for me is perfect. I'm 5'6 and can stand comfortably holding the bike with my thighs. It looks and sounds great even with stock exhaust and overall it's so smooth. I stall a lot because I started getting lazy with the stall assist feature. I can take off and ride slow on just the clutch alone. It's fun. Anyhow, not riding much in the rain now so I watch a lot of SV650 videos of my bike. After sitting on all the different bikes including some BMWs and the desert sled, the SV had the balance of all of the right things. I did end up liking the styling more with the classic round headlight, the seat for me was most comfortable, it did not look like or have a lot of plastic. When I looked at the MT-07/09 it just started to look a little more messy and sci-fi insect. I would still like to ride one but I'm happy I chose my " poor wo/man monster Ducati." JK. I love the black and red color scheme. It's slick looking and the dashboard is so easy to read. I wish I knew how to wheelie.
Sorry this is a late comment, but the goat cameo and "riding together" made me crack up. More bike vids should be like this, entertaining and informative at the same time. Great job!
“You can’t just ride them around all willy-nilly..... you have to ride them scientifically, professionally, and of course, responsibly.” Immediate hoonigan burnout....
I actually agree - a great review, I'm looking for a second city based bike and I'm pitching towards the SV650 (honestly, based on preference for its looks over the FZ-07). Nice work!
Well it’s been four years and I still think the SV is a better bike. Better brakes and suspension, slipper clutch, less plastic. Only thing the MT07 has going for it is the engine.
Youuuuuu jerks. I'm sitting here, nibbling on snacks, and all of a sudden...........a screaming goat! Yeah, that was absolutely HILARIOUS, and I nearly spit food all over my monitor. Still cracking up! :-D Nice bikes, too. Y'know, had to get that part in there. :-D
Great review !! in my humble opinion SV 650! The built quality is one step above, against the competition and with that robust engine with the beautifull v2 sound. You just simply can't go wrong..
@@bossHogOG Here, I'll make it, 'make sense' for you.... Predominately 'metal' construction = Suzuki SV650 = 'keeper' vibes (high build quality) Lots of 'plastic' in its construction = Yamaha FZ-07 = 'disposable' vibes (not so high build quality) Context is a thing, friend. I trust that my clarification, now, makes sense to you. Peace.
Ive had a SV650S, a DL 650 (same engine) and a - gasp - a Gladius that I bought for the engine. I would buy another if I was in the market. Lots of fun, lots of go and great handling. I called the 650S my Ducati on a beer budget and it's the one I wish I hadn't sold.
just decided to buy a MT07. seems to be a better all around and balanced machine than even the MT09 pound for pound, and really all you need for average street use. Thanks to you guys for a balanced and light hearted review and comparison to the Suzuki.
I always thought the SV650 looked fugly and cheap, especially back when the frame was silver, but really if pretty modern looking is all that matters, just save a few bucks and get a slightly used Ninja 650. There's nothing about these 2017 models that breaks new ground so no need to pay the new premium for them unless you just want new. Might be different if we weren't talking about budget bikes but we are.
I have a 2019 SV650ABS and love it. It is nimble but also feels planted in turns. The other day I was accelerating relatively hard from around 55 mph and I noticed the bike fishtailing left and right several times. At first it seemed like a tank slapper, something I had never experienced before. However, it turned out to be some kind of oil slick on the road causing the rear wheel to lose traction. I later saw the culprit, a vintage Ferrari spraying, not dripping, some fuel/oil/water mixture from the exhaust. I am not a racer and had never experienced anything like it. I do remember not cutting the throttle abruptly and let the bike move. Remarkably, it straightened itself out, and I did not have to put my Tech-Air 5 vest to the test. I think that the bike’s stability was aided by its overall well sorted chassis and geometry. I am left terrified but also have gained some confidence in the rider friendliness of the SV650. I’ll keep riding and will pay even more attention to road conditions. I thought I’ll share this with the hope that someone may also learn from it and also consider the SV650 as a super fun bike that handles well even in tricky situations. I’ll post this on other sites as well and am curious what people think.
Still super happy with it. Rock solid reliability and as much fun as on the first day. I should add that the out the door price was a lot lower than the FZ-07 would have been at my dealer. Can’t go wrong with it.
My dad had a half faired gen2 sv650s. For me that is the best looking sv650. Man I loved that bike! Hopefully get an sv somepoint in my motorcycling life.
Judging by what you guys said and the looks, the SV seems to be just the bike for me out of both...love its looks, modern but somewhat classic aswell, very nice color schemes too, well done Suzi
The SV650X is the direct rival for the XSR and it sucks cause both are rare in my area so dealers are charging extra fees over the FZ and the standard SV.
As I've written in before, you guys rock and your creativity, passion and contributions mean that your YT show and printed mag is going to be hard to beat for a very long time.
You didn't mention the GEARBOXES! At all. What's going on guys? I don't find loud and clunky gearboxes enjoyable. Can you please tell me which bike has a smoother and quieter gearbox? Thanks.
My last bike was a 2000 SV650 I sold it at 40K miles. The gearbox was very clunky on a downshift when the oil is hot. Less so with thicker oils. I used Mobile 15W50 synthetic. I tried not to downshift; I would coast to the stop in 6th and then find the neutral within the last foot of motion. The upshifts were perfect and almost no clunk into first. I know SV has an oil cooler now. Did it improve the shifting?
2005 is a second gen SV with a different shifting mechanism plus an oil cooler! MC news gave that transmission an extra point (4.5). Gladius scored all 5 points. I wanted a Gladius bus it couldn't have a center stand. BTW, there is center stand for FZ07 from motech. You shoul've mentioned that too. I think I'll wait for the center stand and buy the SV. Each time I go coast to coast, I have to replace either a tire or a chain by myself. Your review is for people who "just ride"
+Ari Henning I ride a 2015 FZ07 with 2901 miles. My gearbox when shifting up clacks super loud and there is nothing wrong with it as far as I know. My 2005 DRZ400 would do the same thing.
I Use an AirHawk cushion. But most comfort comes from Not spending money on motels. The bike is light and you can camp in the woods. Knowing your bike, maintaining it and feeling in control gives you a sense of independence (and comfort)
I have the FZ-07. Bought it to put in the back of my pickup truck so the extra weight of the SV knocked it off my list. My limit was 400 lbs and I looked at all bikes 400lbs and under. The FZ-07 won out. The suspension is a little soft for sure. If I decide that it is a long term bike, I will definitely put ohlins front and back.
I have the 2004 Suzuki sv 650 naked version and I love it.......for the brake yes the stock one they suck but you can replace stock one with 4 piston nissin from honda cbr600 f4i big improvement I was ride near fz07 and look to me very low to the ground so on twisty road you can't lean like the sv650 does for the engine fz07 has more torque for sure but SV has nice sound v twin with aftermarket exhaust its perfect.
Was a problem with the pre-2004 models, less problematic later for short times, and no one knows what the revised 645 engine is like today. I'd like to know myself.
Lifted_Above Yeah I found that as well, only carb models suffered from that. Anyway I wouldn't do that to my SV (planning to buy 2017 one), wheelies are not my idea of fun :)

Hey, thanks for this. These are the two bikes I was trying to decide between and after watching the video I decided to go for the SV650. I'm a bigger guy and I prefer the more "grow up" styling of the Suzuki. I bought it as my first bike and am super happy with it. Cheers!
how tall are you if i may ask?
And the SV has firmer suspension.
I hope you enjoy, and I think you made a great choice! I'm on my 4th bike now, and loved my '02 SV.
I added the same exhaust and it changed the game.
This is the hardest decision of my life.
Today I'm in the same situation..What did u buy finally
@@VelcroSnake93 it will be my first bike..I love the Suzuki but Yamaha have a nicer look..hard decision to take
@@samzginga4513 I went for the Yamaha 3 years ago, and i am still really happy with it. Did you already choose?
@@westi10001 i finally bought last week a new SV 650 With ABS grey and red
Very nice bick.
Ian Barnett please tell me your now 72 rippin wheelies
Love my SV650. Yeah it has soft suspension and maybe not the best brakes out there (i can still lift the rear tire in a emergency stop) but most the people i ride with still cant keep up with me on the mountain roads, And thats on a 16 year old bike with little over 74k miles. I have owned quite a few bikes, CBR, a couple GSXR, Katana a couple dual purpose bikes but there's something about the SV that just makes it really fun to ride.
I had a 2004 SV650s years ago. Ive had many bikes since then including 1000's. But that bike holds a special place in my heart. It was a great bike.
The V-twin alone sells me on SVs. I love my 1st gen!
Glad you two are making this channel better every video
they''ve been best buddies since childhood.
You're a real track rider if you've owned at least one SV650 in your lifetime. The best investment. So glad it's back. Awesome video.
awwwee mannn.
YES!!! YOU GUYS RULE! I get excited every time you guys post a video...
Me too.
I Liked the video as soon as it started.. ALWAYS excellent videos!!
Are you try to say you get VERY excited when you see these guys? Hmmm.
+1AmericanInAsia when they post. Lol.
Me three! Such thorough reviews. It really makes me happy :)
Thanks for sharing 👍🏾
Someone posted in another SV video thread that for touring, they wear bike pants (bicycle underwear) which has some built in padding for your ass :) I'd never thought about it but it's actually a pretty good idea!
I have a 2018 SV650 and after a month of riding I couldn’t handle the seat anymore. I upgraded to the Holeshot Corbin seat for the bike and I’m soooo much happier. No more sore butt.
They have to cut some costs as matter for priority or the right word is quality.
Just check out sv650x for more riding experience.
This was one of the best side-by-side compares I've seen. I was looking back and forth between these two bikes and this helped a lot, thanks!
can you guys add in a video comparing the new z650 from Kawasaki with these bikes?
I've got 2.5 years and 18k miles on my FZ07. 0 issues. Only time It's been down was when I had a flat tire. I've ride it in 110 degree weather and 10 degree weather. It just works, and keeps on working. I'm 6'2"@230lbs.
It's close -- I would take the FZ-07 for looks.
And sound
Man straight piped holy shit theres not alot that beats the sound.
Sinehmatic yeah man I’ve got an 07 and I love the way it sounds mini v8 😈😈 crossplane for ya
I am geting sv650 soon.Can not wait
Still rocking my SV650s k1. Lovely bike!
Really glad to see you 2 on RUclips again. I love everyone of your videos. Best motorcycle journalists out there!
Well - the SV650 it is.
Thanks for the review.
@Scott Riverwood i did
this bike looks really old and tired.
Hi joego101 saw you had to saw hi!
Fz07 sounds pretty good too with an exhaust with the crossplane crank
JoeGo !
it sounds exactly the same as the old bikes because the engine is still 99 percent the same!
“And of course, responsibly...” cuts to burnouts and dank nooners.... perfection👌
I have to say the SV650's exhaust is hideous. Maybe i'm a little bias because I ride an FZ-07?
Place an aftermarket muffler on them and they sound amazing. Either bikes stock exhaust sounds bland
I agree. The stock FZ-07 exhaust makes the bike sound like a sewing machine. I have a Yoshimura full system on mine :D
+drunkinmaster1 as with the rear fenders. Rear fender eliminator is a must for both bikes
Suzuki Sv650... 2019 model..... Nice bike with Yoshimura slip on.... Toll tuck seat.... Led indicators.... Crash knobs.... Tail tidy..... Meter fairing..... Tyre huggers.... Frame huggers.... Damn looks so hot, cool and amazing. Having tested both..... Sv650 is way better than lots of other bikes.... ABS as standard....
The Yamaha has standard ABS too. I like the look of the SV better too but the exhaust is hideous (which you can change) and so is the rear swing arm (which is alot harder to swap out)
John ...yes I agree..I have changed the exhaust to Yoshimura s one and it looks very cool.....
De lunes a viernes manejo una 150cc y los fines de semana la sv650 y de verdad no pienso venderla por nada en muchos años, es divertida, cómoda, fácil mantenimiento, me encanta su estilo !
the old fz6 fazer was the king with its little 100hp block, such a fun bike to ride despite its tight throttle
I still have my 2000, and every time I think about getting a newer bike I cannot justify it, because the 650 is just so good.
same situation myself
Great video guys, great chemistry between the hosts. I would personally go with whichever bike you can get a deal on from a dealer.
Wow, a motorcycle video review that was actually worth watching. I've been partial to my SV650/DL650 that I've owned and have steered several friends to buying their first used SV because they are solid and affordable bikes. I wouldn't mind trying the new FZ07 now...
In Australia this fz-07/mt-07 has clear better looking blinkers, and we have abs models
I'm 6'2", 225 lbs.
SV650 for me.
My nephew is 5'10", 165 lbs and prefers the Yamaha.
Reliability alone would be a big factor to choose the SV650 and it doesn't luck in styling.
Nice bikes, too. Y'know, had to get that part in there. :-D
Oh how the memes have changed...
Great review !! in my humble opinion SV 650! The built quality is one step above, against the competition and with that robust engine with the beautifull v2 sound. You just simply can't go wrong..
The Suzuki is the 'keeper' while the Yammie emits more of a 'disposable' vibe.
Both are very high value, FUN, real world street bikes. Nice.
Makes no sense. “Disposable” yet people tend to hold onto them or regret selling them.
@@bossHogOG Here, I'll make it, 'make sense' for you....
Predominately 'metal' construction = Suzuki SV650 = 'keeper' vibes (high build quality)
Lots of 'plastic' in its construction = Yamaha FZ-07 = 'disposable' vibes (not so high build quality)
Context is a thing, friend. I trust that my clarification, now, makes sense to you. Peace.
Great video guys. I had an '02 SV and loved the thing, sold it to my Dad who also loved it. We we're both flabbergasted by the "Glaudius".
Great audio quality while riding! Others need to take note. Good review format also, keep it up!
2002 SV650 was my first bike. The SV will always have a place in my heart
My 2004 SV650 looks much sharper. I just don't like the new one. Maybe I love my bike to much :)))
Geo Rider agreed
The new sv is basically a gladius, suzuki are just trying to leach off the sv's success
Not as sharp as yours, but much sharper than the Gladius.
Re watching this after a long time, these guys will be missed from the channel. Hope their new gig produces fun videos like this.
1:11 to 1:14 pretty much sums up the FZ/Mt-07's 😂
I bought a 2017 FZ07 and glad I did. Awesome bike. Fun, reliable, and economical.
absolutely in love with the sv650
There's been so many comparison vids with these two and ultimately it does come down to taste in style. So close in every field
Ari and Zack are like the top gear of bikes. I only enjoy the reviews with you two.
Sv650 all damn day. Can't wait until I'm crackin the throttle open on one next summer
just decided to buy a MT07. seems to be a better all around and balanced machine than even the MT09 pound for pound, and really all you need for average street use. Thanks to you guys for a balanced and light hearted review and comparison to the Suzuki.
sv650 사세요
Cool review but the Gladius wasn't ugly, a lot of people liked the design including me, it's very subjetive to say that a bike is ugly
The headlight was wierd looking the way it protruded.
totally agree. another polarizing bike, as far as looks, is an HP4. i like it. some dont. so be it.
I agree. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and all that. Wouldn't it be lame if we all liked the same looking bike?
I think they look quite nice in dark colours.
Im a new rider. I was so hyped I found a 09 SV 650 on Craigslist and after hearing it get bashed I semi want to cry.
Suzuki and Yamaha great companies. But I do love the Yamaha.
Just got my new SV650 in white. Lovely bike and such a sweet price tag! Great video guys! Love from Athens, Greece.
I have a 2019 SV650ABS and love it. It is nimble but also feels planted
in turns. The other day I was accelerating relatively hard from around
55 mph and I noticed the bike fishtailing left and right several times.
At first it seemed like a tank slapper, something I had never
experienced before. However, it turned out to be some kind of oil slick
on the road causing the rear wheel to lose traction. I later saw the
culprit, a vintage Ferrari spraying, not dripping, some fuel/oil/water
mixture from the exhaust. I am not a racer and had never experienced
anything like it. I do remember not cutting the throttle abruptly and
let the bike move. Remarkably, it straightened itself out, and I did not
have to put my Tech-Air 5 vest to the test. I think that the bike’s
stability was aided by its overall well sorted chassis and geometry. I
am left terrified but also have gained some confidence in the rider
friendliness of the SV650. I’ll keep riding and will pay even more
attention to road conditions. I thought I’ll share this with the hope
that someone may also learn from it and also consider the SV650 as a
super fun bike that handles well even in tricky situations. I’ll post
this on other sites as well and am curious what people think.
How has your experience been since that?
Still super happy with it. Rock solid reliability and as much fun as on the first day. I should add that the out the door price was a lot lower than the FZ-07 would have been at my dealer. Can’t go wrong with it.
My dad had a half faired gen2 sv650s. For me that is the best looking sv650. Man I loved that bike! Hopefully get an sv somepoint in my motorcycling life.
SV650 looks so much better than the FZ07 in my opinion
I think the opposite
I think suzuki shines
лучше только sv1000
just in those two years its looks aged af, meh
Swing arm on the SV is pewch though.
Judging by what you guys said and the looks, the SV seems to be just the bike for me out of both...love its looks, modern but somewhat classic aswell, very nice color schemes too, well done Suzi
SV650 or FZ-07? Hmmmmm, I choose the XSR700
7000$! all i got enough for is a Craig list 99 Vstar..
micahel schmidt But you'll be on 2 wheels regardless!
That's the exact comment I was thinking about when Zack mentioned the FZ07's character, I couldn't agree more.
+goldpilgrim you ride coast to coast on an sv650? that does not sound comfortable at all.
❤❤❤❤ SV 650
I hopped on the new SV650, felt right at home. Ergonomic is perfect for my 5,10frame.
Subscribed for the 2 up joke!
Right on, thanks for watching/subscribing!
Gizmag did it a good bit back.
2018 sv650x is the next big thing
Have an 05 SV650. What a fantastic, fun bike. Not my only bike, but one of my favorites!
You guys don't know that wheelies on SV650 tend to starve the front cylinder of oil, hence shortening its life?
Was a problem with the pre-2004 models, less problematic later for short times, and no one knows what the revised 645 engine is like today. I'd like to know myself.
Lifted_Above Yeah I found that as well, only carb models suffered from that. Anyway I wouldn't do that to my SV (planning to buy 2017 one), wheelies are not my idea of fun :)
mmdirtyworkz Yeah, until some folks starve their motor, I'd not try to find out for myself. Haha
Lifted_Above hahaha exactly :D
mmdirtyworkz I've heard they fix that
Ive been researching the hell out of what i want as a first bike. Rode dirtbikes as a teen. But it has been nearly a decade since then. From what i have gathered my 6'2" 220lb frame wont fit well on a mt07 and i think a sv650 eill be the better choice. I wont know for sure until i get a test ride though
As a 6'3" guy itd be clutch if you shared your general experience sitting on these bikes
im getting my 600cc license in a month and im getting an fz 07 :D they are amazing
Even though i'm not getting either of these bikes, but i thoroughly enjoyed the video. Great job guys!
Got me a 2020 sv🤙

You should test the new 2016 690 Duke R against the MT-07. This would be interesting! :)) Love your vids!
I'm actually a "yamaha guy". not a hardcore fans but somehow I always fell into yamaha when I pick a bike. since in senior high school I've ride the yamaha fz150i, until now in my last year in university I still ride the yamaha (TFX150). but somehow, in this comparison, I'll choose the SV. dunno the exact reason, I just like it :)
btw, Ari and Zack, you guys always know, always found a new way to make me enjoyed your video. keep on guys!
I'm in love with my 2017 SV650
seahunter75 is your sv easy to do wheelies as a fz07?
You don't buy an sv to do wheelies
what a terrific review. I wish all bike reviews were this well presented.
