Brilliant stuff. People always discount bikes like this as not having enough performance, but it takes a really high performance car to get the same levels of acceleration, so you really don't need more on the road to have fun.

Exactly .... the SV650 can do 0-60mph in about 3.7 (ish) seconds ... stock ..... there's not much below full on sports cars that can do that without some serious mods. The power to weight ratio of bikes is hard to beat 😉

Some so-called experts like to put crap on the SV and Suzuki in general, but in reality the SV is still made in Japan so it's got that tried and true Japanese build quality. A little known fact is that Suzuki still builds the majority of its model line-up in Japan with only their 125's and 250s built elsewhere, unlike it's 3 other Japanese brand competitors. Just something the experts "forget" to mention.

@@AdventurePiggy You're spot on! Buy a bike that's designed for the job, that suits your needs best, and don't part with your hard-earned cash until you get a demo. I think the Ténéré 700 is a great bike; the CP2 engine is a peach, I loved its road presence, and its load lugging capabilities. I bought my Ténéré 700 during lockdown, I couldn't get a demo, but it had a decent price at the time. But, eventually, I just got fed up with its high centre of gravity, plus the seat tends to force your legs out to the sides. I had a few hairy moments with it, and I'm 6' 2"! Once, during the rush hour, I nearly dropped my bike at the lights, when I put my foot in a pothole on a sunken road - it was very scary! It's no surprise to me that Yamaha have put lower, high capacity dual fuel tanks on the new Ténéré 700 World Raid.
To be honest, the bike I really wanted was the Triumph Tiger 900 GT, but you just couldn't get hold of one due to supply problems back then. And, it was the same story at every dealership I rang, very annoying. In the end, I realised the Ténéré 700 wasn't the bike for me. I looked around, and got a fantastic deal on a new SV650. I fitted a Givi rack, I use my Givi boxes when required, and it suits me just fine.
Over the last few years, adventure bikes have become very popular, but why buy one if you're never going to go off-road? If I was to go touring, I'd buy something that was road focus, like the Suzuki GSX-S1000GT+, or a BMW R 1250 GS. If I was going off-road, I'd look at a lightweight dual sport motorcycle. 👍

If you put a quickshifter on the SV 650, it will make it atleast 0,2-0,3 seconds faster in a quarter mile.
And before anyone starts shouting how the SV 650 doesn't have ride-by-wire throttle, yes, I know but you can still easily put upwards quickshifter on these bikes. It's just when you're going down, you need to increase revs which you get with ride-by-wire. When going up, you only need to cut the fuel and ignition.

That Toyota was a piece of crap. 😂 By the looks of it it’s about as slow as the transit van but they call it a sports car. What a joke. Great video though and it’s funny how many people don’t get this simple concept. That a relatively “slow” sporty bike is still faster than most “fast” cars. I remember years ago I worked with a moron that swore up and down that his WRX with downpipe back exhaust only would give my Yamaha FZ8 a good run. 😂 😂 Needless to say I quickly called him out with a “anytime anywhere” and embarrassed the hell out of him. After blowing his doors off a few times I even got out ahead and waited for him to come screaming up with everything he had then I hit it when he was about a car back from me. He got up to right beside me and then I was gone again.
I would like to see how my Street Triple R 765 would have faired. I’m pretty sure it would have spanked the Porsche considering it’s the same weight as the SV but makes almost 50 more horsepower.

I'd wager the runs were so close with the Porsche, if you ran a full exhaust from M4 on that bike with an ECU flash, you'd have won those runs. Not to mention reducing bike weight (wheels, 520 chain conversion, other expensive stuff) would have made you that much quicker, probably into the high 11 second quarter.
Never the less, your throttle control on launch is SO good. Goes to show how capable a 645cc twin is, with someone who can exploit the machine.
