Used to own a tuono 660 factory. Will always regret selling it. The sound is amazing and i has all the equipment, but most importantly is that the handling is out of this world. In the real world on twisty B roads there's hardly a bike faster than that Aprilia. On paper yes other stuff is faster, but the handling and confidence the bike gives with the very good brakes it has is insane
Same thing with my 1100 Tuono Factory, it "only" has 177hp but the way it handles twisty roads makes it almost unbeatable. Also high speed stability is the best I've ridden on any naked bike so far.

I mean it has 207hp and is a dream bike, but on the road you need to be a combination of crazy and very skilled to leave that 660 factory behind. Obviously it would be different on a track, but honestly it would be down to power because the Aprilia really does handle well

A 900 class battle would be a good one to do. MT09, Z900, 890 etc. Times for this one is it helps anyone. Aprilia 660 = 11.9, 790 = 11.9, GSX-8S = 12.5, MT07 = 12.8, Z650 = 13.3.

I almost bought a 660 Tuono, but got the KTM 890 R instead. I love my Duke 890 R...but I do wonder, what if? The Street Triple RS and MT-09 was also on my list. Next up....MT-09 vs. Duke 890 R vs. Street Triple RS and switch riders each bike. In-other-words: MT-09 vs. Street Triple RS then race same bikes but switch riders. Also, like to see races for 2nd and 3rd place. But I enjoy these!

I've got a 660 Factory. Cracking little thing, great to see it getting some coverage. It's always overlooked in comparison tests... Yes it's more expensive, but it's playing in a higher league than all the others.
I thought about buying one of these but ended up with a hornet which was much cheaper. The Aprilia Tuono Factory sort of sits in a middle ground really between the more budget naked and the premium naked like the 890 and street triple where it would likely come last. I'm sure it's a great machine though 👍
@@paulfowler6665 I wanted the premium handling and tech (IMU based TC / ABS and cruise control, etc) but without too much power, and to that end it fits the bill nicely. I do worry about reliability and build quality a little though...

Aaah, someone too agreed that that 660 twin sounds like a V4. I remember riding my friends RSV4-RF and then years late I come across another friend with the RS660, I had to actually look closely if I misread that it runs a parallel-twin and not a V4. Aprilias are awesome!

Thanks Bike World, great video! I want this type of drag racing to keep adding more powerful bikes into the mix. So like now you've got the aprilia as the fastest euro, and the suzuki as the fastest japanese. So you could bring in two bikes from the class above, lets say a MT-09 and a Ducati Hypermotard. We'll see how much they gap the class below, and then next time you put say the GSX-S1000 and the BMW S1000 into the mix, we'll see the gap between those. Then at last of course, throw in the ridiculous exoticas. And then, as one final showdown: The Ducati V4 streetfighter vs the MT-07.
Cracking shoot out ... shame it wasn't dry though. Would also like to know what settings you used on the electronics on the Aprilia and the KTM .... I've not ridden the Aprilia but know for a fact that the modes and settings make a big difference to how the KTM behaves.
So cool ... hers a sugestion do a mid-high range... KTM 890, XSR 900, Z900, street triple... and then mix them up a bit so we can see a difference between bike classes. So like do a ZX6R vs XSR 900 vs Ducati V4s vs Ninja 400 just to get a good idea how much apart the bikes are on drag races basically take the best between categories. Its not about what bike wins but by how much and what happens off the line with each bike. Also consider adding more tests like car wow... do a rolling or potentially even a stop test (though on bikes that's probably going to vary too much)
I have 2x 660 Tuono and we love ❤️ it so much 😍 So easy too drive and it feel like a big bike by 7000RPM+ and the Sound from the Airbox 🤩 For Comute it is also great an my Wife love it too. You can be faster in every corner than with the big TuonoV4. It is so stable and gives you so much confidence.

Hmmmm, I don’t think the. CB500x was the first middleweight twin class. The one that started it all off started it in the late 1980’s. It was the GPZ500s. I had one if the first ones and it was a quick little bike for the day capable of over 130mph.

Good call. Sadly the italian brands, and to some extent all euro brands have reliability issues. As long as I'm a one bike man, I'll be riding japanese bikes. But I'd love to have a european bike as a second bike. But I'm not about to have my season ruined because of reliability issues!
Having ridden Honda for the past 8 years, I bit the bullet and got a 21 Tuono V4, and I haven't looked back once. I love it to bits! The power, the noise, the way it makes you feel! Reliability has not been an issue so far 🤞
These drag races make for great content! Could you guys do a drag shootout with the 1000 cc superbikes? Would love to see how a GSX-R 1000R, V4R, RSV4, etc. compare in a quarter mile with competent riders…
Great video, and though the Tuono may "win," the Japanese bikes will always get you to the end of the drag strip and then back home again 😉 My Suzuki is the only bike in my garage that always goes, and often times that is to the dealer to get parts for my Italian and British bikes 🤣
Not sure what "Italian" bikes you're talking about but that joke is so old now that you look stupid even bringing it up. It's mostly people that have to settle for the cheaper Japanese bikes that use these excuses for not being able to buy their dream Italian bike. I own a 2019 Tuono V4 1100 Factory and know 10 other people with RSV4, Tuono, Panigale and Streetfighter V4 and none of them had to do any maintenance on their bike beside the usual inspection and parts like break pads, chains after a lot of kilometres and oil change.

Great fun! So the Aprilia did not catch the GSX until 115 kph in the warm tires run. For legal riding (100k kph where I live) the GSX will be quicker!?

That's 160.9 kph where I live and means handing over your licence and hitching a ride back with the tow truck or the mate that's riding your bike home. So the GSX was clearly quicker to speed limit of 100kph. Horse Power is not everything....
@@joeplem5329 ive owned 21 mt09 base, and currently 23 mt09sp. Before buying 09sp, i did test drove z900, mt09sp, and new 765rs and my butt dyno says 765r is definitely faster in all area. Mt09 slightly behind and z900 was third from my perspective. I didnt get to test ride 890r. I heard it is just as good as other competition.
F800r was 11.2 1/4 mile it's average for the power of these bikes I wouldn't say there particularly good. 70-90hp is reasonable power vs a lot of cars.
Realistic bikes in realistic British riding conditions.
As always huge appreciation for the riding ability and enthusiasm.
They would all put a lot of cars to shame. Even the SV650 made a fool of most of the super cars.

I’ve gone from an XSR900, to a CB1000R, and then just recently went from the CB to a GSX-8S and I’m enjoying riding more now. It’s just more fun.
I do enjoy these, more fun and less seriousness. This is what biking is all about, plus nothing like a wet runway to make 90hp a bit cheeky 😂

At its price, you might as well compare the Tuono with the MT09 and Street Triple.

Suzuki v Yamaha is classic demonstration of torque v power. Torque get you off the line then power takes over.

The bikes should have the same tyres, as the MT07 had the best tyres for this conditions, by far.

You wouldn't get home on the Tuono, unless going via the garage. Mine lasted 9 months and 3 warranty claims later it was gone.

Absolutely. The torque range of the Suzi wins hands down.
It was 115*mph* so even more impressive.

That's 160.9 kph where I live and means handing over your licence and hitching a ride back with the tow truck or the mate that's riding your bike home. So the GSX was clearly quicker to speed limit of 100kph. Horse Power is not everything....

@nicksokolis6343 heavier means it won't wheelie as much thus you can put the power down. I have the 2020 z900 and it pulls like crazy
@@joeplem5329 ive owned 21 mt09 base, and currently 23 mt09sp. Before buying 09sp, i did test drove z900, mt09sp, and new 765rs and my butt dyno says 765r is definitely faster in all area. Mt09 slightly behind and z900 was third from my perspective. I didnt get to test ride 890r. I heard it is just as good as other competition.
@@joeplem5329 putting the weight don on straight lines and turning are 2 different things. There is really no performance benefit to weight.
I think Duke 890 beats them all with z900 close second

F800r was 11.2 1/4 mile it's average for the power of these bikes I wouldn't say there particularly good. 70-90hp is reasonable power vs a lot of cars.
Honda Hornet is pretty bonkers and it's not here :(; Nonetheless, great video as usual guys!!
