I swear, I always get so excited when I see you upload. So much inspiration in each one of your videos.
Wow, thank you!
That discombob is useful!
I just started with Blender! I'm so far from this! You are awesome.
Each video from your "how I made" series is so incredibly dense...pretty awesome how much useful info you pack into videos that hover around the 15-minute mark! Thanks for all you do!
I apricate it, thank you!
I love how you give attention to your dog. Just love it ❤ also cool video 😄👍
He likes to see what I'm up to.
This has wonderful atmosphere, I particularly like the lighting and the post work you did. Really cool!
Thank you very much!
Great render, loved your lighting and the animation for the ship. The only critique I have is that the animation when the person is walking feels a bit too fast paced at times, also there is a lot of noise (Idk if that's caused by a low sample count in blender or RUclips compression) There is a addon called Neat Video that can help with reducing as much noise as possible for Premiere Pro and Ae. That's all, great work as always!!
Thanks
Any noise in the render was added by me in post. I'm not sure what it looks like after RUclips compression though. It doesn't tend to deal very well with camera grain.
i mean he is 3 minutes late for work
@@swiwaii781 yes, he's supposed to be rushing a bit. His work record on the screen says he has bad punctuality, but you can't really see it.
@@DECODEDVFX very cool detail i like it
earned a sub btw
I think one of the reasons it seems so unnaturally fast is the tempo of the footsteps in the audio. It sounds like the character has very long legs because of the amount of distance travelled with each footfall. But, other than that it really came out nice.
this was great ! i love the atmosphere you created. that can be a game too.. the environment felt really really good
Thank you!
I'm still working on the doughnut, but this is nice too.
For the floor displacement you should maybe use just the bump not the displacement, with the camera angle and the distance it will look nice and lot lighter for the computer
Lovely video you put together thanks for sharing DD.
Thanks for watching
@@DECODEDVFX Thanks very much for replying to my comment. That's the great part about the hobby sharing ideas and learning new ideas from other people to improve our Channel's. Stay safe DD.
I love it! Great end result and brilliant breakdown!
Thanks so much!
I've been watching your channel from the start and just.....your growth since then is just......brings a tear to my eye. Congrats and I look forward to more!
Thank you so much!!
Awesome animation
I always enjoy watching you make things and this is no exception. Your end result looks really good and you did an awesome job!
Thank you so much!
Holy shit I love this.
Glad to hear it!
Levelled up helllzzzz yes
"I can't shake 'em, Red Leader!!! Tips are coming in from everywhere!!! I can't absorb it all!"
"Just brace yourself Red Two! We trained for this!"
Nice!
Awesome
You will famous on this vedeo
Epic! I like the cinematic effect that you achieved at the end result.
Hey, I don't want to sound annoying but can I do a tutorial about opening the gates with drivers/geometry nodes?
I'm asking you permission first this time 😅
Sure! go for it.
Quick question, do you think max studio will cover your work process that you shared?
I loved the environment. Can u tell me which HDRi u used for ur background? I loved the color of the sky. It looks cinematic. I'm still newbie so trying to figure out.
This is the HDRI. polyhaven.com/a/kloppenheim_04
I just pushed it down slightly with the mapping node so the trees wouldn't be visible and turned down the brightness. Honestly, most of the color of the sky comes from the volumetric material and the grading.
Could you tell us a bit more about the render and video properties?
Was this rendered at 24 or 30fps? Was it 1080p? Did you render it on your rtx 3090? (one or both?)
Can you recall how much memory was needed for the render?
What file format/bit depth did you choose for the outputted frames? Did you encode straight into .mp4? Did you do all of the video and sound editing in blender, or did you use 3rd party software?
And where did you get all the sound effects from?
Would you consider doing a follow up video covering all the things that you did after rendering the raw frames? That would be so interesting...
Thank you.
It was rendered at 12fps and interpolated to 24. The resolution was 1080*820. Memory use was low since it's fairly simple geometry and textures. I'd guess 3-4 GB max. The laptop has an RTX 3080.
It was rendered as a PNG sequence using standard settings with no alpha channel.
Editing/sound was done in Da Vinci Resolve.
The post work was fairly simple. Certainly not enough to make a video about.
@@DECODEDVFX ok, thanks for that, that's interesting and helpful.
I enjoyed watching your 'short', it's something that I'd really like to do, and your video has inspired me to have a go at it.
No problem. I just realized I missed a question. The sound FXs were from epidemic sound and freesound.org
I really love your animations! Can I ask you how you manage the "issue" of not having a temporal denoiser inside Blender? I'm struggling with this problem on my works, usually I have to use a plugin like Neat Video in post but it doesn't solve the issue of noise patterns.
I optimise scenes to the point where there's very little noise to remove. The denoisers can do a good job even without temporal information, as long as you don't expect too much from them.
@@DECODEDVFX thank you for your help!
It’s high time you took us through some tutorials bruh
Super cool man. How long did the render end up taking?
I don't know exactly. I rendered this out in two chunks over different nights. It was less than one minute per frame though for most of the animation.
@@DECODEDVFX not bad
can you give spaceship landing scene tutorial please
But is this scene completely a oner or its broken down to 2 project files??
This was one continuous shot.
Possibly a dumb question, but how'd you get the baked fluid sim to line up perfectly with the ship after importing it back into the scene? Or did you replace the scene ship with an imported copy of it
When you copy and paste something between blend files, it retains the same location in 3D space. So I just had to paste the baked volume into the main blend file and everything was already aligned.
@@DECODEDVFX Oh, nice! Thank you!!
How to create camera movement like this
Hey Sir can you create Hulk cloth tearing effect in blender?
I assume you aren't using a track pad laptop on the sofa when you do all this stuff. I was getting a headache even thinking about it.
I plugged in a mouse for most of the project. The shots on the sofa were recorded while I was mostly doing non-3d stuff. Making materials, graphics, compositing etc.
@@DECODEDVFX Aye fair. I'm sure the laptop is fine, but trackpads are a nightmare for 3D you need a proper mouse.
whats laptop you use?
ConceptD 7 spatial labs edition.
Goddd when would I have the money to buy a good laptop all I have is a toaster that crashes on every render...I'm so passionate about 3d and vfx
Kk
not 4K but 2160p
1080
@@DECODEDVFX the laptop
while i do like the rendering overall, i was annoyed by the engines. When landing, you increase throttle to break, which creates more turbulence and when lifting back off, you increase throttle as well. But the engines exhaust were always the same.
Here to ruin someone’s chance of commenting “ first “
First
Nice but Ian Hubert's futuristic worlds look more real natural.
IT MAKES NO SENSE... that a Blender user would buy a LAPTOP without a NUMPAD !!!!! Agghhhhhhh....
Blender has a numpad emulation mode. It turns the regular number keys into numpad keys.
@@DECODEDVFX you don't think I (or most blender people) aren't aware of this mate, do you?
Honestly, if anyone was somewhat serious as even a hobbyist with blender, you would want the benefit of an actual numpad.
Dumb product they sent you and you should be testifying to the need for a physical numpad.
Although... if they sent me a free bit it of tech kit, I'd loosen my moral message too and pretend it was awesome.
@@JosaboobaThere are no benefits. Numpad emulation uses the top-row number buttons instead of the numpad. The functionality isn't affected at all.
And they didn't give me anything for free. The laptop has already returned to ConceptD.
@@DECODEDVFX So where does top row 1,2, 3 for Vertex, Edge & Face select keys get moved to? More musical chairs. I couldn't work without these.
Honestly, a production laptop needs a full keyboard.
I'd hate to be buying and not realise until I'd bought how much I wished I'd got a laptop with a full keyboard.
You are in a good position to help alert newer (pc/ blender) people to this fact. And fine, I assumed incorrectly you'd kept the laptop, but you got "nothing" for it ????
I've no problem people benefiting from getting stuff / paid for their channel, you've worked to get us as viewers and you're leveraging our eyes - I just think if you're highlighting (advertising) something, then highlight its flaws also.
Have a good weekend.
My desktop keyboard doesn't have numpad keys either; I just use the emulation mode.
