    Pearl Jam’s 1992 “Live” performance of Garden (unknown venue) is absolutely incredible and suggest looking it up and watching. This was PJ’s beginning of a reputation of becoming one of the greatest “Live” American Rock Bands of all time! Incredible performance! Infact i suggest watching the set lineup for this show! This was also one of My favorite and in my opinion best performances of “Porch” really leave You speechless! Good stuff my Guy love your takes on Reaction!

    To me Garden (next to Black) are Pearl Jam’s finest tracks and perhaps the finest tracks to ever grace the history of rock n roll. The whole album and this song in particular had a particular esoteric / spiritual feel, emphasised by the beautiful twin guitar passages of stone and Mike that compliment each other to perfection. Add the poetic soft to growling vocals of Eddie vedder , the amazing drumming and amazingly supported by the off the wall bass playing from Jeff… perfection 10/10

    Thanks for another solid reaction. Garden is a great track. The music was written by Jeff and Stone, and Eddie added the lyrics. So another track that really shows off Stone going low and Mike going high with complementary lines is Dissadent. That one was a pretty big radio hit so you might recognize it.

    A guitarist with a lot of different types of techniques (probably all of them too, some which he likely pioneered) would be Robert Fripp of King Crimson.

      @FoxUnitNell 3 года назад

      David recently had a vid on audioslave song, and he mentioned that the guitarist sounded like a helicopter, and I've heard Fripp do it as well as Adrian Belew from the same band King Crimson. on the trip back home today, the radio guy mentioned tom morello and all the cool sounds he could make, so getting a like on this comment now is cool. People should mention King Crimson, they had toured with Tool and on guy was the guitarist for a Nine Inch Nails album - mentioned King Crimson's post 80s albums were trying to be tool albums to move units.

Like Eddie is Eddie, and will hold his own in rock and roll history - but the other two don't get enough credit. All the members are irreplaceable, well outside of Cameron. And I only say Matt Cameron because Pearl Jam was like Spinal Tap for awhile with drummers, however Cameron is definitely great.

    Hey David, after watching a bunch of your Pearl Jam videos, you have made several comments about how you are surprised for liking PJ's stuff. I'm wondering why you had such a negative impression of them prior to digging in with your reactions. Did you just assume PJ was lame and unsophisticated because they were so popular? Do you associate the entire grunge scene with depression and self-pity?
    Personally, I think Pearl Jam stand out from their other grunge peers for mixing into their music a healthy dose of aspiration and a will to overcome; elements that the other grunge titans often lacked.
    Would love to hear your thoughts. I happen to think they are the best band of their generation.
    Thanks. 🤘🤘🤘

    • @THEDavidHeretic
      @THEDavidHeretic  3 года назад +2

      I never really gave them a chance in high school for 2 reasons. 1. I was a progrock metalhead, and we all saw the grunge movement as a threat, when all it honestly did was kill hair metal (thank god for that) I was really big into prog rock, and if a song didn't have 7 key signature changes and 12 time changes I had no interest in it. I know, very closed minded in my youth. 2...and this was kinda the bigger one for me....my brother loved Pearl Jam, so naturally I wasn't going to like something my brother liked.

    • @chrisdriver7776
      @chrisdriver7776 3 года назад +3

      @@THEDavidHeretic
      haha... Thank you so much for the response, David.
      Having brothers, I can understand the desire to distinguish yourself. It was actually my older brother who introduced me to Pearl Jam, though I ended up becoming the much bigger fan.
      My other favorite band of the generation is Tool, which sounds like it might be more up your alley.
      I do believe Pearl Jam is the greatest rock band of a generation. They are so consistently strong across the board, with a huge stylistic and emotional range and control. They are as dedicated to their craft as anyone, and uniquely passionate and earnest, which is probably their signature stylistic contribution.
      It really does seem that to watch/hear Eddie Vedder sing is to watch a man lock antlers and engage head-on with life and with the world in real time, in a way I just haven't seen anywhere else. Though full of angst, there is also something relentlessly aspirational in it that I don't think was present in the other grunge bands. Ultimately, I think it makes the Pearl Jam experience a deeply satisfying and edifying one. You could say they put the "Ed" in edification.
      It feels a little geeky to say so, but they are the coolest thing I've ever found, and they've had such a deep impact on me that it's a little embarrassing to admit. Nevertheless, I have to give credit where it is due. They are a very special band, in my humble (and correct) opinion.
      It'll most definitely getcha there.
