31:00 in these movies, give Jameson a LITTLE slack. In, i think was the 90's cartoon, it was revealed that when he was younger, he was an investigative reporter and used to go undercover and report on hate groups like the klan. So he just REALLY hates people that he thinks are hiding behind masks. Granted, he's pretty overboard on it, but doing that stuff would mess a lot of people up emotionally.
This film in terms of accurately to the comics is actually really close while also putting it's own spin on a few thing. Everything from Peter being bitten by a spider, taking part in a wresting match, Uncle Ben being killed, and Peter hunting down Ben's killer is all pulled from Amazing Fantasy #15 (1962) but showcased through a modernized and reworked lens. In the film Peter a 17 year old was bitten by a genetically-modified when attending a school trip to a laboratory at Columbia University. While in the Mainline comics a 15 year old Peter was attending a General Techtronic's public exhibition for a school trip when a spider bit Peter on the hand. This spider was irradiated by the demonstration's particle accelerator passing through the accelerators beam and then biting Peter. Peter being 17 in the film is a very interesting change but I imagine they just wanted Spider-Man out of High School as in the comics we don't really spend alot of time with High School Peter beyond the first issues. The whole idea of the genetically-modified spider comes from the Ultimate Universe, a reimagined and modernized continuity beginning with Ultimate Spider-Man in the year 2000 just two years before this film. In the Ultimate Universe a 15 year older Peter would attend a high school field trip to Osborn Industries, Inc. where he was bitten by a spider exposed to the OZ Compound, a prototype Super Soldier serum. The Ultimate Universe loved to tie characters origins to the Super Solider Project such as Hulk and Spider-Man with the U.S government and private companies trying to re-create the Super Soldier serum that gave birth to Captain America. In this film it seems like Oscorp were the ones behind the genetically-modified spiders as well just like the Ultimate Universe. Going back to the Mainline Comics like this film Peter does take part in a local wrestling challenge pulling together his own homemade outfit and mask and taking on Joseph "Crusher" Hogan while in the film he fights an original character called Bonesaw McGraw, not sure why they didn't just use Crusher from the comics. Unlike the film a TV producer Maxwell Shiffman saw Peter fight and came to him with the idea of Peter going on television with his act and of course make some money. Maxwell even commissioned a Spider-Man suit for Peter designed and based on Peters artwork. It was only after Peters first TV appearance as Spider-Man that he witnessed a fleeing robber run past him, which just like the film Peter does not step in at all. Peter then returns home only to find that someone broke into Aunt Mays house where it's revealed that a robber broke into the house and shot Uncle Ben, Peter then hunts the robber down tracking him to a warehouse where it's revealed that the person was the robber Peter let go after his TV appearance. The film follows the Ultimate Universe slightly closer where the promoter of the fight gave Peter a new costume and the name Spider-Man and after a few fights Peter was accused of stealing the promoter's money. In a bad mood, Peter allowed a burglar he encountered on his way home to escape from a robbery. And the same thing happens, robber breaks into the house and shots Uncle Ben and Peter ends up hunting him down, both the film and Ultimate Universe don't include the TV aspect. In the Mainline comics both MJ and Harry were not introduced until Peter started college. Harry was introduced in The Amazing Spider-Man #31 (December 1965) while MJ was first mentioned in Amazing Spider-Man #15 made a cameo with her face hidden by a lampshade in Amazing Spider-Man #25, and made her first full appearance in Amazing Spider-Man #42 with both Peter and the readers meeting MJ for the first time, first time Peter sees an older MJ beyond seeing her as a kid. For the Ultimate Universe they brought MJ, Peter and a character called Gwen together as a high school friend group kind of like this film but just imagine everyone's 15 instead of 17 so slightly younger. Betty Brant played by Elizabeth Banks in this film was actually Peters first relationship in the comics while attending High School and getting a job at the Daily Planet. Another change would be Peter's web shooters. In the comics Peter actually uses physical web shooters that he designed himself. These web shooter hold cartridges that house the web fluid allowing Peter to shoot him webbing. While for the film they decided to go for organic web shooters with the webbing being made within Peters body allowing him to shoot webbing from his wrists without any external device. This was actually a late change as you can still find footage online of Peter wearing classic web shooters but in the end it was changed to what we see in the film. Most renditions of Spider-Man use a web shooter device but because so many people grew up with this film and only know Spider-Man from these film they just assume that the organic web shooters are just standard for all Spider-Men.
I’m hyped for this! Spider-Man is my favorite hero and my introduction to him was this movie. So some facts (no spoilers for the movies) this is normally the traditional origin story for Spider-Man in the comics & most versions. He gets bitten by a radioactive spider, gains his abilities to use it for his own wants, let’s a crook go who ends up killing his uncle, and Peter filled with guilt dedicates himself to use his powers for good. Green Goblin is Peter’s nemesis in the comics (the Joker to his Batman.) Mary Jane is Peter’s main love interest in the comics but he has other girlfriends over the years. Lastly, Spider-Man & Batman have the biggest rogues gallery of villains of any hero.
Here are some fun Spider-Man facts. Spider-Man hat organic webs when in the comic books he never did. Instead he created his web shooters and the web fluid that goes in them that has the capabilities of holding a several tons car. It was to show you his ingenuity and intelligence. Also his weapon would run out at inconvenience times adding more drama 14 him to come up with a better solution.

A great superhero origin movie that should be followed for new superhero movies. Sam raimis Evil dead franchise is awesome. Love the Bruce Campbell cameos
They made him as cool & stylish peter parker which is not accurate with comics. Till date Tobey Maguire is the best peter parker with great acting range in his spiderman triology movies with great villains of course
I'm glad yall are watching the Spiderman movies they're all really good, even the ones not so liked. You'll know it when you watch them. It's really cool how they bring them all together with the MCU Spiderman ones. I noticed yall have Castlevania in the background. Loved the game and the Netflix series. Awesome show MoonPop 👏 Keep up the terrific work 👌 👏 👍 😀
I'm sorry, but you could not cast a comic book villain any better than Willem Dafoe as Green Goblin. He portrays that split personality so damn well, the way he switches seamlessly from the meek-mannered Norman Osborn to the sadistic and cruel Green Goblin. Also, if you don't recognize the woman who said "Guy with 8 hands? Sounds hot...." That's Lucy Lawless, AKA Xena from Xena: Warrior Princess.
@@LubbockBabesFan I wouldn't say that he was probably just an old friend or something but she did cheat on Harry when she kissed Spider-Man not knowing it was actually his best friend
lol born in ‘89, so this was right in middle school for me. yeah Sony had the rights for Spidey, Fox had the rights to X-Men & Fantasitc Four, Universal had Hulk rights. when Iron Man came out, Marvel was able to work deals to incorporate everything together going forward you could alternate the movie schedule to do Spidey/X-Men/MCU on a rotation. you’d be caught up before July when Deadpool 3 comes out
So seeing as you are interested, Spiderman rights were sold to Sony by Marvel, along with a number of other characters, which indeed helped save Marvel. They made 3 with Toby before the 4th was canned, then 2 with Andrew with a 3rd never getting green lit. All of them are worth seeing. This is why it was such a huge deal for Spiderman to appear in the MCU at all, because it meant broaching a deal with Sony to use their own creation. So, are you guys going to do the whole MCU then? Tom Holland's version might be watchable without context but let's just say it would be a controversial choice.

Couldn’t disagree more. I don’t think Tobey is in my top 7 or 8 adaptations of Peter Parker. Just don’t think he’s a good spider man at all. Love this movie tho. Best of the trilogy.
