    Yes, I know... super simple build, but read below.
    I had the chance to do a fun little co-branded product (binocular strap) with Google for an event taking place in Downtown Toronto. This video will be playing at the event for people to see how their straps were made. I actually ran out of leather before shooting this video so a substitute leather was used for the video. In total 46 straps were made.
    Here is the process of making a simple strap.
    Enjoy!

      Not all straps in my opinion need to be burnished. Sometimes the rugged edge does the trick. It’s personal preference and also what the client wants/prefers

      I think he’s got a milling machine not a 3D Printer. Makes it a lot finer.

    • @cm709
      @cm709 Год назад

      The maker stamp is definitely milled. The Google one looks plastic which made me think it could be from a 3D printer. Some are using them with success, but they're slow to print.

    Hey! My name is Max. I intend to organize the production of hand tools. I need to figure out a lot of details that I can rely on when making such an instrument. I want to ask a few questions to people who use such a tool. For the most part, I'm interested in leather craftsmen. May I know what tool do you use most often in your production and what tool is almost useless? Which manufacturing companies are best for you? And what do you rely on when choosing a tool? What do you think is the basic set for a beginner and an experienced master of your craft? What do you lack or find it difficult to find from the necessary tool? Are you using a premium tool? If yes, what exactly? Maybe in the tools of some company you noticed shortcomings, or vice versa, something especially surprised you on the good side? Any details are very important to me, as well as your individual opinion. Thanks in advance for your time.

    Quick and easy, although I wonder why did you skip the edge burnishing...

    • @TheLivingBlobfish
      @TheLivingBlobfish Год назад +1

      My guess is that he only had a certain amount of time to complete this in, and if you read the description you'll find that he actually made 46 of these things, and all that burnishing would take FOR EVER. So maybe he just didn't do it for this🤷‍♂

    • @camerontgore

      @@TheLivingBlobfish thanks for the explanation!

      @edkovac8978 Год назад

      @@TheLivingBlobfish quite possible, but still. I don't think that it would be that bad. With Tokonole you get nice edges in no time.

    See what I learn from you Ryan? The ruler trick for beveling long straps. That would be number 1. Thread locker for Chicago Screws? That would be number 2. What a good day!

  • @Stephenwp
    @Stephenwp Год назад +1

    Why no edge finish? Why no adjustment provisions in the strap? Red Loctite will make those Chicago screws nearly impossible to remove if needed in the future.

    • @LittleKingGoods
      @LittleKingGoods  Год назад +3

      1.The project didn’t require finished edges.
      2. The client didn’t want adjustable straps
      3. There is no reason to open the Chicago screws.
