There's only two reasons I keep thinking about an MT10 instead of an MT09 (both SP versions): The sound. Oof Ohlins semi active suspension. People say the KYB fork is good...yeah, sure it is. I doubt it's like an Ohlins semi active fork.
I had two fz09’s, and an mt10. All great bikes. I still have an xsr900, which is my favorite, daily, go anywhere bike. But, the 10 was a kick in the pants like no other bike. Just not suited to daily Seattle life. Still, I’d love to get one again, someday. 👍🤪🇨🇦
@@mjdcycles mine is a 2016, pictured in the little circle there. Same wheelbase, different ergonomic set up, and better for me. That’s actually why I loved the 10. Really nice ergos. I did braided lines, pads and tires eventually, but did the ecu and pipe fairly early. Throttle was not an issue compared to my fz, and the slipper clutch was much nicer on my bad hand. Basically, I could have left the bike stock, and it would’ve been a fantastic city bike. I just love to mess with things, regardless. Cheers
I’ve got a 2019 MT09 with a full Akra carbon exhaust, 2WheelDyno ecu flash, and this season I just upgraded the suspension to the Race-Tech razor-r rear shock and Andreani front fork cartridge Kit. I previously started out on a 2019 mt07, but quickly realized after a month I needed more power. With all that said, after 4yrs I’m now craving more and am looking at the MT10. I hope to pick one up maybe this season or next.
I am trying to be responsible before buying my next bike and plan it a year ahead I either want an my-09, mt-10, or a Suzuki 8s or 8r. I have a 2023 ktm 390 duke which i absolutely love and don’t want to let go but I’ve heard stories of some reliability issue that worry me for the future
There's always something to worry about with every bike, it's part of the charm :) I'd be partial to the MT-09 coming off the 390. To me, it's got more power than the Suzukis you mentioned and the MT-10 might be a big jump. It all depends on your riding skills, ability to have self control, and available $$$. You can find great deals on used MTs.
@franciscosuarez9970 I prefer the MT09 triple sound over the MT10. But since I got my MT10 gen 2 tuned, it's made it a far superior bike and i love it you can't go wrong with either bike
the tick is a characteristic of this engine i have had 2 MT10's my current is an SP and both have the tick. also everyone i know who has one has the tick
The MT-09 did better with the Puig touring windscreen than the MT-10. On the MT-09 the air hit my chest and was clean for my helmet. On the MT-10 it came up a little bit differently and was a little louder and more direct wind.
The sport bikes are better, you are more in those bikes than on top. You still can get air in the chest by sitting up but it's less than a naked, usually. You are also giving up the naked riding position which is one of the main reasons to get a naked.@@TheLockWhisperer
Apparently they all tick eventually mine started ticking right after the engine broke in. Seems like it comes and goes idk mt10 engines can be noisy sometimes that low exhaust sound almost sounds metallic the sound it makes because of how then pistons fire can sound weird not to mention you sound different to every bike so it’s not like you can compare to people around you lol. But besides all that the mt10 is my favorite bike I’ve rode even more than the s1000rr my buddy let me ride. That sound is just godly
That sound is godly!! lol I just accepted that the tick is part of that bike "design" mine had it too but not near as bad as the brand new test ride bike.

I understand your feeling. I have the same tick... I changed shims and corrected the valve clearance myself. BUT the tick continues... I do not know what to do.🥲 😅
I'm not sure it's anything to worry about.....seems to be common on these bikes and not causing issues. They say it can be cam chain tensioner, valve clearance, injectors, etc.. I'm happy with mine. It does have a slight ticking but it's no where near the one I test drove that was brand new. I feel like mine has the normal amount if that's even a thing 😂
How'd you find the MT10 compared to the MT09 for pulling off the line and powering outta corners? I have an MT09 and I find it quite lacking in initial punch, although it's great once it's up in the RPM. looking at going for the 10 instead
My MT09 had the Vcyclenut tune and full Akra and that combo made a noticeable difference in that bike. It was super strong! But, the MT10 just has more brute force....it's definitely stronger off the line and out of corners. Pulled like a freight train!
@@leeroyjeankins7781 The MT-09 is a fast bike with plenty of power. I was super happy with it! The MT-10 does have that extra power though, as expected, it's a bigger bike. You can't go wrong with an MT-09, and with an exhaust and tune it's even better.
its been a year over this video maybe but i gotta say this, the o-9 and 10 are very different bikes in its environment, supposedly one is considered a naked and other is "HYPER"naked. now the Hyper comes from the extraordinary torque and kw, even though theres only 1 number between models theres 40% difference overall between two bikes. so its a stupid comparison but whatever. i guess some has to do it anyways.

What is your microphone setup?
For this video I did my comms to my phone via bluetooth for the commentary and used the audio from the GoPro for engine audio.
Lots of MT10's tick quite loudly for some reason ??
Yep, seems to be a feature 😉
I'm about to trade my 2016 MT09 in for a brand new 2022 MT10. Ordered it in March, get it next week, first week in November. Been a long wait.

Hey bro , which bike is better one ?
The MT09 or the MT10 ?

Also what about sport bikes ? Do you feel the wind on your chest too ? Like a ninja 1000 street bike super sport .
