out of all the games i saw in this video dig dig boom was the only time i immediately paused the video to wishlist. it looks really interesting, cant wait for the demo!
It's honestly unreal to see my game in there! (4:42) This turned out amazing, especially love the music choice, what a nice track. Thanks to everyone making godot possible.

I wonder if it will always stay free and open source? Unreal and Unity were free also for the beginning to gain popularity then became paid once they made their place. Just like drug dealers, it's always free in the beginning until you are hooked XD Really hope Godot stays free and personal forever :)
It's an honour to have our game Full-Scale Invasion alongside all your awesome projects! Big thanks to the Godot team for an amazing engine, and democratizing the game making process
I'm happy this is happening. I've known Godot since more than ten years ago, as a engine some devs mentioned as an afterthought just to fill the examples, probably first mentioning seasoned game engines like Unity or UE3 (back in the day), GameMaker (my first one which I just tried and made like two basic tutorials in 2004). Now look how far it has come. I'm in awe. A fully open source game engine, following the footsteps of Blender (whic I tried back when it was beginning to gain traction, in 2013). Been following this intro to Godot tutorial here in YT. It's like 15h long, but I'm planning making my indie titles in this great engine. So far I have no complaints. And this thing is not even close to reach its peak, the ascending curve of progress is just starting! Great years ahead of us for sure.
What an amazing year it was! Just in January 2023 I started learning Godot, and in 2024 I am already included in the showreel with Robot Detour! So glad to be the part of the party 🎉
@@konstantink07 I had the exact same thought when I saw the clip, and funnily enough, I also played DATA WING twice lol. It seems like DATA WING but with a lot more additional mechanics.
Weird, conspicuously missing is Road to Vostok, which is a port from Unity and the most photo-real project for Godot I have seen. There's even a tech demo for it on Steam.
This is really starting to take off. Good for you. Stoked to see what this year will bring. The massive influx of new devs (for reasons...) will accelerate things drastically.
Just imagine what next years showreel will be like... after the migration from unity, plus now brackeys starting tutorials again.. its all we need to get going. Im moving for the simple fact of openware.. such a fan of software developed this way, because it takes into account the actual needs of the users, and not just abstract tangents in development.. just checked out the nodes, and wow, some of the 2d nodes are so simple and strait forward, actually useful - instead of a bunch of random complex stuff then the basic obvious things needed in every project being complex to create.. Great work guys, excited to see where this software goes!
Let's go ! The game that really stands out imo this year: Octahedrone. A super original 3D game concept, never done before, with top tear graphical polish, Tim really is a legend for that one. Really looking forward to buying it upon release !
If you showed this to someone 10 years ago and said the engine that made all these was OPEN SOURCE they would lose their mind. Such an insanely high quality piece of tech to be free and open source. Absolutely LOVE what you all are doing
3:55 - Finally, a game about going on vacation then trying to find a way to simultaneously power 4 electronics items using a power strip with only 6 outlets!
What a beautiful year of Godot games coupled with a phenomenally well edited video and great music. You love to this how much love the engine has being given.
wow!! This is the engine I use for gamedev and it's always nice to see other games I like have used it too. You can do so many different things with it!
What I love about this showreel is that it is a showcase of actual creative and aesthetic achievements. One looks at the Unreal Engine showcase and it's just realism and impressive graphics, and while that's cool in its own right, Godot's showcase had me deeply moved seeing the absolute wealth of projects that actually look fun and interesting.
This is amazing, and really inspiring for someone still in the infancy stages of learning how to use Godot such as myself. Seeing the beautiful results of people's passion and hard work put on display here is motivating!
I had the task to create a rhythm game in 3 months. The only requirement was that it could run on macOS. Would've never been possible without such a versatile, open and easy-to-use engine. I'm very glad I learned Godot and am excited for its future!
Good to see the improvemenets and a lot of nice projects out there. I like the way and work what the Godot team made with the engine as well as I like Blender and many other small software emerged in this year. It's a bit overshadowed by the layoffs but hopefully these people will end up as indies or joining to these software maker teams and enrich the toolsets with experience. Keep up the good work!
Insane to think that in 2018, Godot was the foundation for 2D platformers, Gameboy / SNES-era types of games, and in 2023 is now hitting AR / VR applications, FPS and strategy PC games, PS1-era and Flash / mobile types of games. And with the huge jump away from Unity, we could be seeing many more dev studios tout Godot as their platform of choice in 2024.
as a simracing enthusiast didn't know that the last garage was done in godot, saw the demo at simexpo and damn that game proves that open source game engines have nothing to envy to the big players
This is a lovely bunch of unique and creative games! As a fan of horror I would like to mention Cave Crawler and The Night of the Inquisitor, a couple of horror games I enjoyed playing that were made with Godot and released 2023 :)
Looking forward to Godot's improvement for years to come!! and more game devs to switch into it, even Triple AAA companies to eventually consider it more and more! Online Classes and Tutors inside companies should also happen to hook in more people toward this masterpiece!
Didn't know that Halls of Torment was made with Godot. It's my favorite "Survivors-like" game. The old diablo atmosphere in the game is exactly my cup of tea.
Another year, another bunch of amazing Godot projects!
Happy to see my game Dig Dig Boom featured! :) (3:33)
Edit: It now has a demo on Steam!
Hillarious animation!
ive been following dig dig booms development since you posted about it on the spelunky subreddit, congrats on being featured!
i love your SFX Design, its satisfying in some way!

Thankfully it's not Unreal. XD
I love your art style!
@@kevinfishburne I thought exactly that!
@@gizmowizard352 XD
Godot wiil be the Blender of game engine for sure!
Already is
@@NicCrimson Not yet. Godot still needs to displace Unity the same way Blender displaced 3DS Max in terms of users first. It'll happen.
There's a game engine integrated into Blender called UPBGE.
@@FreeSalesTips woah that's cool!
but also, what a terrible name!
@@NicCrimson nah still a lot of QoL features missing that would make the engine more mature
Godot logo animation in the end is just wow

A free and open-source game engine have never been this good! 😍 Hats off to the developers 💯

2023 Was a real glow-up year for Godot! Awesome stuff.
Very cool to see more 3D Godot projects. Keep up the good work guys!
Hall of Tourment! I had no idea! Despite the audio glitchiness I've noticed in a few Godot games, that game is a banger!
Awesome! Thank you so much!
Great to see so many cool projects
Sad not to see Road To Vostok, probably the highest profile project in Godot at the moment, but I guess the dev didn’t submit it.
I follow a lot of Godot projects and somehow never heard of this one. Thanks for sharing!
I think they only featured released games/apps, so we might see RTV next year?!
The best looking Godot game IMO.
