- TV Lyrics for The HOWDY DOODY Show - Theme Song
Buffalo Bob: Say kids, what time is it?
Kids: It's Howdy Doody Time!
It's Howdy Doody Time.
It's Howdy Doody Time.
Bob Smith and Howdy too
Say Howdy Do to you.
Let's give a rousing cheer,
Cause Howdy Doody's here,
It's time to start the show,
So kids let's go!
arousing cheer? 😳
Wow - I loved this as a kid - 70 years ago!
Yay a boomer my decade generation I'm 70 years old CLEAN tv programs
Same here! Great kids' tv back then, Fer shur!!!
Saw this on Indianna jones once my grandma (sho had dementia) came into the room crying because she finally hanged onto something she remembered
Thanks indie
Was telling my wife I used to watch this puppet show, from the 70s, black and white, audience of kids, help me honey. "WTF you talking about dear?" Took me 10-15 minutes to make this memory pop out, and then I see results of 'Howdy Doody' 1950'? Had no idea how long it ran or how old the reruns I was watching were when I was 5 in the 70s.
That lead to a whole discussion of obscure shows, some of which we have shared memories of, like Captain Kangaroo and Mr Green Jeans, some of which she never heard of because I'm a few years older. She actually thought I was joking when I asked her if she ever heard of "The Banana Splits". Is that a joke? A dance? You pulling my leg?"
I remember once being sick, and my mother was going to let me watch tv and cover up with a blanket in the living room, I said "no mommy I just want to go to bed". She actually got more worried then, "What? You don't want to watch Howdy Doody? You must REALLY be sick".
Back to future had me looking it up I didn’t know it was a real thing
GREAT... SCOTT....
Back to the future part 3, brought me here”,, im a filipino”,,,
Dito
Filipino Gang
I'm a filipino too.....
I’m British
I'm Pinoy too, but what does that have anything to do with this lmao
Back in 1977, I loved the Howdy Doody Show. I had started taking piano lessons for about a year, and one morning when Howdy Doody came on, I ran over to the piano and played along with the theme song. It was the first song that I played by ear, and I found that I could replicate any song on the piano by hearing it.
That sounds really stupid.
@@davidwhatsthatabout7404 Not really. I was only 7 years old when I replicated the Howdy Doody theme song on the piano, and that was the start of a lifetime of playing all sorts of songs by ear. I have even done Rock & Roll Fantasy Camp where I got to play my favorite songs with the real performers, such as Nancy Wilson, John Oates, and Sammy Hagar. I feel like I'm wooing them by replicating their keyboard parts right in front of them.
@@jeopardy60611 no no, it actually is really stupid. And I’m getting 2nd hand embarrassed that you think it’s something worthy of praise.
@@davidwhatsthatabout7404 that sounds rude
@@sarah-eu3bi wow you’re a real Einstein aren’t you.
It should be “a rousing cheer” not “arousing cheer”. Very different.
oh boy
HAHAHA!
Lol. Great point
Hahahaha!!
Lol!
GREAT SCOTT!!!! HOWDY DOODY TIME
This unlocked a childhood memory I didn't know I had. My grandma had this box set! Loved this show 💖
In the summer of 1980, I attended the Harand theater camp, and we learned the song "Ta Ra Ra Boom-De-Ay" as part of a "Gay 90s" set. I noticed that the chorus of that song had the same tune as the Howdy Doody Show theme.
Howdy Doody did it first
@@playhouseluckey80 I thought that Ta-Ra-Ra-Boom-De-Ay came out in the 1890s, so that would predate Howdy Doody because that show came out in the 1950s originally.
My grandmother sings me this song and now I'm here looking it up♥️
Lol
HA - your grandmother must be a fun person to know. Seriously, this show was one of the first I remember seeing on TV... (and even then I thought it was pretty dippy!) We did not have a TV, but my friend down the book did have one.
This remindse of woody
thay called him that 'cuz that was the effect buffalo bob had on him
I like Howdy Doody a lot and forever. Because he's real friendly, kind, good, and joyful. And I like the song. 🔆🌞🌈🕊️🎵🎶💞❤️♥️👍🤗😁🙂🙂😇👼♾
Howdy Doody is the best.
My mom would sing this to us as “It’s Wake-y Up-y time” every morning to get us ready for school. Good memories ❤️
great scott... howdy doody time?
I was just about to comment this. Glad someone else had the same idea.
0:17 damn ok 👀
Almost looks like Katy Perry!
Katy Perry's a time traveler
IKR
What did I just find
I don't know what took me here, but my life is different now, just about to enter the howdy doody universe, beyond point of no return ...
watching LP records and saw a puppet and howdy doody, thought it was a horror show:)
wow, howdy doody!!!
Back to the Future!
Calm down OK just calm down it's me it's Marty.
@jakerussell1232 No, it can't be, I just sent you to the future!!!!
I've listened to a lot of late '80s and early '90s house music and when he said "Say kids, what time is it?" at the beginning, "It's time for house" played in my head 😅
Not arousing cheer. A rousing cheer.
Buffalo Bob came to the University of Pennsylvania with Clarabelle and Howdy. Put on a show, and complained that he'd never received any residuals from any of the reruns shown. Fun, and I'm guessing he fared well from putting on shows. The theater at Penn was jammed to the brim, albeit there was no admission fee as I recall.
How is this shit not too scary for children😬
My first tv memory was clarabelle on HOWDY DOODY in the mid 50s
Its Howdy Doody time, Its howdy doody time
Bob Smith and Howdy Too
say howdy do to you.
Let's give a rousing cheer
Cause Howdy Doody's here
its time to start the show
so kids let's go.
I remember this show when I was younger back 50s
I was a 90s kid and that puppet scared the crap out of me as a kid.
I missed seeing this Loved it every Saturday! and the shows after that. I see it in my mind but I cannot remember the names of those shows. I am 73. I never knew you could watch it in the 70s.
as children we would sing:
It's howdy doody time
I wouldn't give a dime
To watch that crappy show
I think i's got to go....
ps: another re-written ad jingle of that era:
I hate Bosco
Bosco's bad for me
Mommy puts it in my milk to try and poson me
I fooled mommy
And put it in her tea
Now I have no mommy to try and poison me
@@CharlesCoderre-yv1cu sang that version as a kid.
I loved this show as a kid
Watched the show in the 70's. Did not see much of Howdy "himself". The puppet has a 1970s big hair hairstyle. In the 1950s he had a hairstyle more akin to the crew cut. Like the lady on this. She is comely.
I would get up at the crack of dawn, click on the tv, and turn the dial to watch this in the 70s
@Lina S it was reruns of course. Hehe But I was too young to know any better than. Still loved it just the same. ☺️
I am that silly theme song from my childhood popped into my head and I had to play. Ha ha ha I remember the show from the early 50s
Warning warning nostalgia overload
Howdy doodies from this era still run the world...
This is the stuff of nightmares.
Somebody make an indie horror game quick!
Now I got it😅! Seinfeld s5ep3
I am 73. I remember. I loved it. lol
Someone should make him into a horror movie like night of the living dummy but he has some ghost kids of his last victims just singing this song
I can absolutely imagine a horror version of the theme song, lol. Really slow and creepy, with the kids just staring and singing in perfect unison a-la the "Come play with us" line from the twins in The Shining.
Perfect to have an alarm in a smartphone
Marty!!! We have to go back to the future!!!!
My dad showed em this and I-
I'm scared of puppets :'D
Destroy All Humans! brought me here.
Ive never really watched this as a kid i grew up in the early 2000s this seems scart and uncanny to my but i think I'd like it if i was born around the time this aired
Good mythical morning brought me here...
Who liked this comment and how did you find it......
Sweet mother of mercy..
Back to the Future brought me here.
Aimee my neighbor didn't know who this was 😂❤❤
Stephen King's 11.22.63 novel mentions this show. In the book Howdy Doody is present.

William Aftonwatches this everyday , in fact this is what inspired his motives and actions. So before you say William afton is evil think about howdy doody
Stephen King's novel, 11/22/63 is what brought me here.
The old lawyer in The Aristocats sang the tune of this song going up the stairs, it was so funny. "Ta-ra-rah boom de-yay!!"
My sister and I were in the peanut gallery on his show in 1959! Buffalo Bob would tell us all to shut up when he passed the gallery
Omg that duck bird thing is terrifying!!
Came here from Cosmos by Carl Sagan to see what extraterrestrial life will hear coming from us.
Wow in color? Must have been from near the end of the era!

The Chucky series are family movies compared to this.
