always good to see a fellow junkyard warrior braving the elements and doing what's necessary to get the job done. It's the junkyard, not the Mini dealership. Thank you for taking the time to record this while at the JY. Those haters criticizing don't even own a screwdriver, let alone know what it is or how to use it. Go pay someone to do the job for you, hater.
se me cayó un porro por la separación del vidrio y el tablero del copiloto y tuve que desarmar todo el tablero después de varios intentos de sacarlo con la mano. Me ayudaste un montón, crack.
Thanks for the video. Really helpful man. I needed my CAS to reprogram a replacement DME to match together. Person who swapped out the DME before me didn't do that and I get all of the abs/dsc/brake light constantly drive me nuts! 😂
Not sure anyone’s said it but for removing the speedo surround with the two screws under the vent there’s a little cap on the vent so you don’t have to remove it, one on each side.
@@Sam-wp1zq he broke the vent on top of the dash. It's not supposed to be removable. There are two small panels that pop off of the vent to gain access to the two screws underneath.
So, I have the same problem. Put key fob in and get nothing. Occasionally the car will wake up and work but I can't trust it. Yesteday spent nearly an hour trying again and again to get it to wake. I thought it might be the keyfob battery so I replaced it. Remote opens doors. Interiour lights work, radio works but nothing else. Recently had FRM module reprogrammed. Does this problem sound like a CAS module problem or a Start/Stop Ignition switch problem. I'm very frustrated.
I’ve had a few bmws with similar issue happen when their FrM was bad, but your saying it was just recently replaced. Hard to tell without reading codes what it could be, starter could be an issue or IBS, relays
Hey I am attempting to pull the cas from my R60 - Cooper countryman 2012 and I cannot get the left side of the dash to move I've unscrewed every screw I can see... not sure why its such a struggle... I am gonna try to take out the right side airbag bolt. Its in a tough spot compared to where the ones in this video are, thx for posting hopefully I can get to the CAS!
Does the cas module affect my ac, top from coming off and affect performance bc since the clicking started in the fuse box performance and all the above have been failing also my touch screen help
does this also apply to the (09 clubman) r55? im trying to find my CAs to install a remote start, but it only gives instruction on the module on the driver side kick panel, which is (i think) a lighting module
Yes it is located under the dashboard. The instructions your reading is for the r50 ews module which is under the driver side lock panel. Which remote start kit are you installing?
The video works for me. No, you are not going to win any awards for your camera abilities (one handed, I get it.) I didn't have to wade through all the BS most RUclips video "Producers" add. They normally ramble on about nothing on why or what they think. I could care less. Unlike most, yours is doing it, no added BS. It is like searching for a recipe and the website having the "Jump to Recipe" button.
Can I transfer the CAS unit from one MINI to another without problems? Reason why is that my MINI is wrecked and as I had a ECU tune which was connected to the immobilizer, I would like to get the ECU and immobilizer to a new MINI so as I won't lose the tuning.
I have an 08 R56. If i send you the CAS and switch can you make a remote work? The valet key opens the doors so we are good on that. (Sorry my first comment for the Mini ended up on an E60 video! lol)
I wonder if you can help me. I'm about to buy a Mini Cooper 2013. I can not stand Bluetooth.... It gives me such headaches. I'm wondering if you know if I can " Disable " it? I can't find any videos on it.... I found " Enable " but not the other way around. Anything you can help me before I purchase it would be grateful. THANK YOU !!!
Probably about 30-45 min. I’ve now just focused on left side and prop it up. I use a small inflatable ball to rise the dash enough for me to fit my hand under to remove CAs
@@roskinc Thanks. I am giving it a try today, will just do the left. I too have no keys and need to mail it in (ebay) vs the dealer at $700. Have you used any of the eBay persons for lost all keys?
many reason, to have a key made, to replace the cas unit due to CAS failing, most bmws very easy to remove few minutes, but the mini cooper has it under the dash which makes it hard, so i made this videos. what issues are you having? any symbols pop up on the cluster when you try to start the car? what year mini?
@@roskinc no symbols....my key wont send the start signal to the CAS. When i place the key in the doc, i get nothing. No light on the tack, no brake pedal feel, NOTHING. The fob still locks and unlocks the car, but thats it. Someone told me i may need to get a new key programmed (i only have the 1 fob), but i dont think that will solve the issue. I think my CAS is dead. Any way of knowing for sure, before i spend $400 on the programming?

Thanks for the video. Helped me tremendously with a 2010 Cooper Convertible.
How much did you pay for a key
how to mutilate a mini cooper. first you " grip it! then you rip it!" well done and duely noted. WOW!!!
Is it the same for the R60 Countryman? I really need a video for that one

No the CAs would not affect any of those

It would be a lot easier to just retune the new mini, would require a lot of work to get it to work, more than the new tune would cost
roskinc What would be the necessary things to do that make the cost so high?
Thank you 🙏
