perfect diagnosis. i stumbled across this video as I have the identical problem. i made it to knowing the overload protection relay control was at fault. you finished the rest for me. thanks!! you saved me some time. thank you for sharing your diagnosis.
Yep, same thing here. Pin 3 on X11002 (always, why?) corroded thru and the pin is now in the connector so junction box cannot give a ground signal to the control side of the relay. I manually give it a ground signal and the car runs. Being that it is Friday evening and nothing to lose, I opened up the JB and soldered a wire on to the pin 3 on the circuit board and bypassed the connector. Now that wire still does not give a ground signal! Water has done more damage than just corroding the pin. Next is to try reprogramming the JB and see but I don't have much hope.

Back in the day, mid nineties I guess, when customers used to ask for a recommendation of what brand of vehicle I'd buy for myself, I used to tell them they'd be safe with anything German of Japanese. Now, when they ask, I just recommend something Japanese (except Nissan). However, now, most of their models have at least one inbuilt flaw, which is usually crazy expensive to correct.

When are you gonna come out with your own book like scannerdanner
When I find a publisher who can speak Newyorkanese 😁
I’m now having the same issue, it cranks over but doesn’t start, I checked everything that you did and no fix, any recommendations?
Did you figure it out
That's right, German engineering, Keith. Now you're getting it. Even if you don't want to :P
i am having exact same issue, but it says "ABS" on the mini square screen.... couldn't even start the car !
Did you find the issue ?
Went to a car wash car wouldn’t run next day. This makes sense… checking now
German fish tank. Hahaha. I like your description!
Great video brother : )
Anyone know of a video to remove and replace this junction box?
Second time watching 5/12/2020
Perfect
Great video
Keith where do you get terminals for all these different vehicles?
From the manufacturer directly . Almost all Euro sell their terminal replacements kits as long as you have a good sample
German engineering at it's finest.
Where are you guys located ?
North Carolina now
This is caused by the weather stripping around the derange rail from the windshield I know these problem all to well but my Mini Cooper cranks and won’t start
thank you very cood
I love German cars, but I mean, you're not wrong.
Water is probably coming from the drain for the sunroof.
Excellent
It came in from the sunroof drainage. That's usually the culprit. My dumb self kept sleeping on the leak that it seems to finally have cause significant damage. Car gets full power but won't crank at all. This just happened today 🤬
wow, great work! "German fish tank" LMAO
When they manufactured Mini Coopers they should have stated: " only use it in southern California"
I live in socal. The genius at mini put the CAS module on top by the dash. Mine got practically fried from the sun.
Wow
First my friend 😎
I spied a power probe under the hood? Who was pp’ing on this car?
Hey we needed a long ground lead 😂
them things leak more than my old 82 van did with ever piece of rubber dry rotten and leaking..
👍
