    I switched from the fx30 to the s5iix and honestly can say you can't go wrong with either.. FX30 was easier to rig up but the s5iix allowed me to take on some additional photography work on the side! Open gate and the real time lut feature has been really helpful as well.

      It definitely seems to be performing better in low light than my fx30. Image quality is similar but enjoying the FF benefits across the board. I like the UI better too.

    I’ve had the fx30 , and fx3 and fuji xh2s and believe me , the lumix s5iix rules them all ! After multiple projects and matching the s5iix to the alexa mini 😃. The Lumix s5iix is the best purchase out of all these choices ‼️

    • @smartideas-pedro1690
      @smartideas-pedro1690 6 месяцев назад +3

      Idk about that... The xh2s is the closest thing to an alexa so far. From sensor size to log curve, 14 bit readout and shutter speed. How does an S5IIx rules it?

    • @FattySoprano
      @FattySoprano 6 месяцев назад

    I'm currently a Nikon D3S & D3X shooter over here in England. I tried a used Z6 but did NOT really love it. I can't afford all the latest expensive high end models (unless they came out 15 years ago like my D3 Nikons), but I am interested in trying Lumix full frame so I am gonna buy & try a cheap used S5 mk1 with a couple of those Lumix f1.8 primes (50 & 85.) I plan to convert Nikkor 24, 35, 105, 135, & 200 primes as I can use those with manual focus ( & tripod/monopod where required.) In decent light I reckon only the 200 will need tripod stabilisation. 😀

    Been using the s5iix for a couple of months now. Got it on a bundle with the s-pro 24-70mm. The biggest downside so far are limited lens selection (especially where i live where every single sony lens known to man is available to rent but good luck finding any L mounts). I love the ibis, it is one of the biggest thing that caught my eye. This camera really rips when it comes to stab. As a run and gun filmmaker that mostly focuses on event (music concerts) recaps, the ibis is definitely a big help. Since my office still has their a7s3, switching back and forth. I can safely say that if you want total reliability and convenience go with the sony. But if you are open to some catch, (even after the update sometimes in the middle of shoot it just lost focus to the nearest point making it all a total blur, but thankfully my lens has a clutch that you just pull to manual focus). The 6k open gate, the shutter angle settings, v log (preference) Panasonic is bringing the heat. Both are more than great for anyone looking to pickup a new camera, but it all boils down to reliability and convenient lens choice or superior stabilization and better colors.

    Sony systems are a strategic decisions, not which camera is better today than x or y. Choosing Panasonic is a bad strategic decision. Sony make most of the worlds sensors and have computer tech from their games consoles. Panasonic waited almost 10 years before admitting their contrast detect autofocus for video was crap. They are a million miles behind Sony. Sony start with point and shoot and go up to Cinema production cameras. If you only have one body and one lens buy whatever you like.

    • @LiamMarskog
      @LiamMarskog 6 месяцев назад +8

      Well, Panasonics offering starts at point and shoot and go up to cinema cameras like the VariCam 35 for example so no difference there, haha. As someone who have used both cameras talked about in this video extensively i can say that the AF is not quite on par but it's easily in the same ballpark and absolutely not "million miles behind Sony". You must not have used these cameras side by side in a professional setting if that's your conclusion. And the AF on the S5II/X is more than good enough for youtube, i would argue it's better than Nikon and pretty much at the same level as Canon now if not better in some situations. For commercial work i would never use AF (well, never is not quite true) as we basically always use glass meant for video and not photography/hybrid use so real cinema lenses for many reasons. As the IQ on Lumix cameras are undeniably a bit better if you compare cameras in the same price range or cameras that use the exact same Sony sensor like the A7III and the S5 (entire S-series range uses that sensor) i would still go for Lumix which i do most of the time even if the AF is a hair better on Sony and especially as AF is almost never needed in a professional setting. Doesn't mean i don't shoot on Sony though, i've used the FX6 and the FX3 as well as the A7SIII on several shoots and they're great cameras.
      The S5II/X uses a Sony sensor so the fact that Sony can't make the same exact sensors preform as well in the same price range is unfortunate, they obviously aim for different things. Lumix has way more professional tools like waveforms, vector scopes, shutter angle etc while Sony focuses more on ease of use and to appeal to the masses and get as many cameras in as many hands as possible. They're basically way more vloggy than Lumix which is fine ofc, it's their niche and they got that on lock as it used to be Canon that was king of youtube but now it's Sony and that sells cameras which ofc is the ultimate goal of a camera company. Lumix has unfortunately started to go this route as well with the S5II/X and taken a page out of Sony's handbook and crippled these cameras somewhat with aggressive noise reduction and a lot of sharpening in non RAW video for exactly the same reasons. People that don't professionally work with video on a day to day basis don't notice that but people that do will and have notice this (it's all over the forums but ofc not in reviews for obvious reasons, haha) which is pretty common. Sony, Fuji, Canon and now also Lumix all do this on the lower end cameras unfortunately. Lumix didn't used to this though, for example the original S5 which also sports the same Sony sensor (or a variant of the same sensor) as the S5II/X doesn't have these NR/sharpening issues and the S5II/X didn't have those issues in the pre production firmwares. This unfortunate development only happened after release to get as many cameras in as many hands as possible (most likely) like most other brands as selling cameras is the most important thing. The best possible IQ is reserved for the flagships that aren't meant to be sold to the masses like the S1H, FX3, R3 and Z9 for example.
      Sorry for the wall of text but i felt that this needed a bit more nuance as nothing is as easy as Sony good Lumix bad or Lumix good Sony bad, haha. Basically they're doing pretty much the same things now and the difference between them except for like monitoring tools and shutter angle which i don't understand why Sony refuses to implement means they're pretty damn close in performance. Sony isn't miles ahead of other brands when it comes to AF anymore and Lumix doesn't solely focus on the best possible IQ anymore. For youtube nowadays it's pretty much a toss up, it more comes down to what you personally like. Cheers

    • @ourtvchannel
      @ourtvchannel 6 месяцев назад +1

      @LiamMarskog sony venice burano fx6 fx3 etc etc and there is the reason red no longer exist as separate company and was bought for peanuts by nikon. As I said, this is a strategic decision. If you bet on Sony 10 years ago, you won. Panasonic are like a 100 metre runner, late for the final, and still thinking they have a chance. The vast numbers of third-party party lenses are a clue. Third parties dont make a new lens for a small platform. Virtually every day, Sony gets more and more lens options from standard to Anamorphic. If you think near perfect autofocus isn't important to professionals, maybe you should tell Philip bloom. Pansonic didn't have a single camera in the top Japanese camera retailer's best-selling 20 list over the last 12 months. There is lots to like about the current Pansonic cameras, just no faith in them even catching up. Sony just made a laughing stock of the "in development " Canon R1 with the actually available Sony A9 iii. It's global shutter for sports and wildlife is game changing and when a Panasonic finally installed phase detect Sony added AI and as someone who owns the A7RV , ZVE1 and A6700 just because of that AI autofocus I think Sony know what people want. Only my opinion.

    • @LiamMarskog
      @LiamMarskog 6 месяцев назад +1

      @@ourtvchannel Wasn't really coming here to argue, just wanted to give this some nuance as it was sorely lacking that but i guess i can at least answer you.
      No, RED wasn't bought out by Nikon because of the Burano or any of the other cameras you mentioned. They got bought out by Nikon over the lawsuit they launched years before the Burano over internal compressed RAW patent that RED owns. Great patent for Nikon to own so that whole thing happened over a legal battle and that has absolutely nothing to do with Sony. The rumor is (this is a rumor) that RED really wanted to be bought out as well, and it wasn't because their business was going badly and def not because of Sony. RED's corner of the market isn't touched by Sony or anyone for that matter, what RED has a choke hold on is giant budget nature docs like BBC's Blue Planet for example. As someone that knows a few people that make these shows they are RED all the way through, would absolutely not chose a any Sony camera over what RED has to offer when it comes to that specific thing. The Burano that was just released isn't really for that and like i said this whole legal battle thing started WAY before the Burano anyway and the FX6/FX3 aren't competing in the same sport as RED cameras except for maybe the RED Komodo but it's ofc a much better and much more expensive camera that's not really meant for the same things. People that need AF won't get the RED Komodo and people needing the color fidelity you get with the Komodo won't be getting a FX6 or a hybrid mirrorless body like the FX3. Different tools for different jobs.
      Yeah, i think you should read my comment again.. Sony knowing what the masses want and not focusing on sheer IQ with their lower end cameras (even high end at times like the A9III but that's a given because of the sensor) is what my entire comment was about, haha.
      Have a great day man!

      @LiamMarskog wrong, yes they had a legal battle and great for nikon they got a good patent but if you saw the usa rentals for red cameras you'd know people were switching to Sony. If professionals didn't want to rent Red then the writing was on the wall.

    dood the way you hold the baby is scary, you shouldnt do that, your hand should be a pillow not a damn collar and do not steer the head like this to show the baby to the camera like some object, youre weird
