Traded my sony a7 iv with the 28-70 kit len, Batis 85mm and 24-105 f4 for the lumix s5 IIX with the 20-60mm and 50mm bundle with £100 left over. This is the most complete camera I’ve ever used and this is coming from Canon M50, Fuji xs10, xt4 Sony a7 iv and now this. It’s weather sealed and has ACTIVE COOLING. Phenomenal value.
It is a great camera! I'm glad someone else also moved away from Sony 🤣 I do feel like Panasonic get overlooked at times. They're better than most manufacturers in my opinion.
@@TheCreatorsBlock I'm also a bit disappointed that reputable sites have few (petapixel) to no (dpreview) in-depth reviews about this wonderful camera.
@@tedcruzinusa It crops at 4k/60p and it cant do 120fps at 4k. So it doesnt have two 2 things I would want for sport and wildlife videography. So I will stick with MFT for the moment because its cheaper and can do the same(when the picture is cropped anyway). I wouldnt want the S7SIII, I had a sony camera in the past and for me the sony user interface is close to unusable, the panasonic interface also complex, but intuitive and easy to use, a real plus
Every time you switch brands, you learn. You learn about yourself as a photographer or videographer, you learn about what's important for you and what characteristics of your equipment aren't so important. I hate Sony, i bought Sony because it was "better" but I never enjoyed shooting with Sony. Now I'm in Nikon, but watching closely what happen with Panasonic, i use manual lenses and the stabilization in the Panasonic cameras is the best...
Yeh completely agree. When you're learning you don't know what you like, how you prefer to shoot, what style you like etc. So it's a maturing process is what you're telling me 😂 To be honest I haven't ever shot Nikon, I've never even held one, for some reason I have never gravitated towards them. That doesn't mean I don't like them, I just can't really comment on them really. I hope it fits for you though! 😊
@@TheCreatorsBlock I hope you could try a Nikon soon. The overall rendition of the images is the best in my opinion, but Nikon is lacking in midrange and low end offering, only the Z8 and Z9 are worth the price.
I had a friend buy one recently as his first real camera-ass-camera and I was just thinking, "If only he'd given me the chance to talk him out of it..." It's not even that they're bad cameras! If anything, they're too good to the point of being boring.
That's cute to say that being confused is learning..wow..How about rent or buy something, run through the paces and then making a responsible decision??What am amazing idea..
This was well done. Fun and entertaining to watch. While I only do photography - and did so professionally for a number of years - I felt so unbelievably satisfied when I finally graduated to the Canon 5D Mark IV. I got it in mid-2017, bought about $6K worth of off-camera lighting gear, and shot 50+ weddings, many events, senior photos that included hiking camera and lighting gear into the mountains, shot real estate, traveled with it around the world to probably 20 different countries, and never had the slightest hint of GAS while owning this beauty and top-of-the-line Canon lenses. Freaking amazing camera and I didn’t give a whit about the specs of any cameras released in the interim because I was able to create what I wanted to create and loved the aesthetics of my gear. Now that I’m doing work in a completely different field, I didn’t need or want such large gear - especially for future travel - and all my research led me to buy an OM-5. I was straight up blown away at the image quality. The color science is beautiful (and I never thought I could like anything other than Canon color), and the noise performance of this little sensor spectacularly exceeds the Mark IV noise performance. Just wow. BUT…. There were many other things that were difficult to adjust to, so I sent it back to Amazon and ordered an OM-1. Amazing AI (machine learning) tracking but the stupid thing can’t reliably focus on S-AF even in medium low light. If you buy an OM-1, buy it for moving subjects (or high-contrast stationary subjects in bright daylight). Anyway, I sent it back and reordered the OM-5. Ugh!!! Thankfully it’s aesthetically pleasing. After the pain and time wasted selling off my lovely Canon gear and changing back and forth, I’ve decided I can live with my nitpicks of the OM-5. But I feel your pain. I was 100% satisfied with the Mark IV until my needs changed. I didn’t think it would or should be too hard to switch to another system and feel the same 100% satisfaction. But it can be so damn hard to find something that you love so much that you stop looking at other gear (for 6 years in my case when I had the Mark IV!!).
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed the video! ☺️ Yes I feel your pain! Things were much simpler when we just had to choose between Canon and Nikon 🤣 The 5D was the ultimate goal, nothing else really mattered, so you'd just build up your lens arsenal in the hope that one day you could upgrade to the 5d and all was pretty simple. Now there is far too much choice, far too much time spent on specs that don't really matter and less time spent on perfecting elements that do. Anyway thanks again for the support and I hope you find peace with your OM system 😂
I watched the whole thing, nearly shut you off several times, but was happily relived when you switched to Panasonic S5iix and you were finally satisfied.
Great video!! Totally resonated with me. 😂 Just had the S5iiX delivered and enjoying learning the new system. Looking forward to your future videos 👍🏻🤘
Lumix makes more sense to me than all the others, at least for hybrid stills/video cameras. The S5 IIX and the G9 II are virtual siblings. The differences are basically no fan in the G9 II, and the Micro 4/3 sensor, with better IBIS, slightly better AF, and faster frame rates. You lose almost two stops of dynamic range, gain an increase in depth of field via shorter lenses, and the G9 II may overheat in extreme circumstances due to the lack of fan. But at least Lumix has TWO sensor formats in two nearly identical bodies that do most of the same exact things, otherwise. They LISTEN to their customers, put controls where they belong, and make solid, reliable gear. Welcome to the fold.
Yeh I agree. I do like the idea of the M4/3 system for all its benefits, but I do prefer that Full Frame look. Call me a bokeh snob 😂 If only the lenses were compatible I might have bought a g9ii as a b-cam. Thanks for the welcome, happy to be here 😊
totally enjoyed your GAS journey honestly and totally understand your reasons behind the switches , I my self had a Canon 7d as my first DSLR camera bought it at launch date back in 2009 i loved and enjoyed using it and as you said it sure can take a beat and then some am a commercial airline co-pilot so logging it with me for every layover around the globe did yield me some amazing images with it its just got so heavy to carry , so since I was mostly enjoying street photography when am in a new town and wanted something low profile and light to carry decided few years back to get me a Sony RX100m6 which was the latest at that time and have honestly enjoyed and loved the images it can capture despite its small 1 inch sensor , but after the years passed by and since i mostly do stills with the rx100 cause it does over heat quickly when you shoot in 4k i was craving something bigger and better and honestly as i was in rush to buy me anything i spent lots of hours and hours watching RUclips videos and finding all about the cripple hammer of each camera in every system which just made the buying decision grow longer well that til the lumix s5iix came by and it just appeared perfect in everyway so i just knew this is going to be my camera and finally pulled the trigger and oh what a jump it was from the 7d to this one , shooting videos and taking picture with it is so seamless and enjoyable and fun and it just makes me hit the streets in every trip just to enjoy shooting with it , as for the lenses I've been hunting some good deals on eBay and mpb since i didn't had any l mount lenses and here is what i got me so far , sigma 16-28 2.8 . sigma 28-70 2.8 . sigma 70-300 4.5 , sigma 24 1.4 , lumix 85 1,8 , ttartisan 35 f2 , ttartisan 50 f2 , laowa Argus 28mm f1.2 , sirui anamorphic s35 35mm 1,8 and lemme just tell you the amount of beauty you get with these amazing deals behind the s5iix is just beyond extraordinary sorry for the lengty comment i just was surprised to find out that we both had the same first and last camera 🤣🤣
🤣 Glad to hear I'm not the only one! It sounds like you have quite an interesting job! And to go from a 7d to a S5iix is quite a leap so I bet you are seeing even more of a jump in image quality and performance! You managed to skip all the years of buying and selling like me at least 🤣 I hope you enjoy it and sounds like you have quite a lens lineup on the cards!
@@hamzajamshed7399s5ii is the best hobby camera for handheld shooters and best color quality outta the box. its wayy easier to use but unreliable autofocus and rolling shutter is not great for professional jobs. Not the best option for sports or fast tracking especially if you plan on walking away from the tripod. Sony is a better pro cam because of higher picture quality in all frame rates with no crop and better eco system for multicam setup, more lens options. The only disadvantage is the upfront cost and maybe a gimbal to match the s5ii stabilization.
If the S5iix had 4K60 uncropped and even 120fps uncropped it would be an instant buy for me, no matter the price. I have the gh5 and 6, and i love those cameras, but tyeh really struggle with lowlight and autofocus when you need to have it. I mainly use it for solo 'run and gun' wedding videos. I really don't know what to do. I want a new fullframe but the sony's are so expensive and i looooove the ibis and overall colorspace/functionality of the panasonic cameras. The 24-105 is a beautifull macro lens btw!
You keep on switching because you believe it is the camera doing the work, it is the user not the camera my friend even you will buy the most expensive camera if you don't know how to use it then....
You're right, but everything he said about Sony is 100% spot on. They have the best AF by far, but their hybrids are just not enjoyable to use compared to others, especially Lumix. The fact that they're still making brand new hybrids that overheat at the drop of a dime during video is just... INSANE! Now that Lumix has figured out PDAF, there's really no reason for anyone to wanna switch back anymore. I'm right there with him, 100%.
@@Studiotek Sony have a bigger cripple hammer than Canon do. They also don’t provide software updates and just put all their efforts into the next iteration. They also seriously cripple their g lenses so if you want a small and light lens you will have to get a sigma contemporary or samyang … Colour science is much better now but if you want to get into cine cams… the colour science straight out of camera is light years behind Blackmagic and red, and fairly short of lumix. Yes you can grade s-log with the colour chart… but with Blackmagic and red you can literally just skip that step. Why? Because Sony want to cripple and protect their Venice and Burano line. Don’t buy and fx3/6/9 unless you are using them as b cams with your burano/venice where you have the gm lenses. Everyone else should stay away from Sony. Zv-e1 looks okay because it is cheap, but then you have the crippled g lenses again 😂
Man, this literally parallels my journey with cameras as well! I tried them all, but eventually I landed back on the Lumix S5II. I actually had the Lumix S5II when it first released the beginning of this year, but ended going back to Sony because I thought I needed it to be taken seriously… But the reality is, I love the user experience of the Lumix along with their image quality. Just like you mentioned the video, it’s a more enjoyable experience. Great video by the way!
The menu system is incredible for LUMIX. That being said, I’ve made as much money shooting a Fuji XT4 as I do right now with my lumix eco system. They’re all just tools to get the job done and tell a story.
I have to admit in 2024 we’re just clutching at straws at this point, because let’s face it, almost any camera system on the market is good enough for professional work. We are very spoiled and probably getting too fussy 😂 But you’re right, they are just tools to get the job done. And all can do amazing jobs! I’m just one who enjoys tools 😂 So I like to enjoy using mine. I’m the same with a combi-drill and mitre saw 😂
I fully agree with your thoughts on the A7S3. I bought one, had it for a maximum of 6 months and then sold it.. Went to an A7IV actually. For the same reason you didn't enjoy the A7S3, I stopped taking photos. Now with the a7iv, sure, the video isn't quite as "nice", don't know how to describe it, but the photos are lightyears better. Also, still 10bit etc. Love it!
Yeh, technically it’s a fantastic camera. BUT it just seems a bit lifeless. I hope you’re enjoying the a7iv! That would have been the camera I would have chosen if it were released when the a7s3 was. And then who knows, perhaps I wouldn’t have made the same choices. Although I am very happy with the Lumix!
@@TheCreatorsBlockI was actually trying to decide between the s5iix and the a7iv quite recently, but I decided to stick to Sony because of the larger selection of glass (native) as well as the large thirdparty market for that mount/body. Kinda jealous about the bitrates and codecs on the Lumix though, as well as anamorphic modes - but hey, maybe a future upgrade. :D (I suffer from the same problem as you btw.. Been through a ton of different cameras, canon, nikon, sony, blackmagic etc).
It’s crazy because I shoot with the r6 and the audio and noise always bothered me and I would always say to myself it was my fault that the camera was giving me footage like that. Glad you’ve tried all these cameras because your opinion is much more valuable than someone who is talking about all the brands but only shot with one brand their whole career. Thanks for great video.
Yeh I know! I was quite surprised at how bad it was, both the log footage and the audio. I mean, I may have done something wrong who knows because Canon is still very popular for video. I just couldn’t get the results I wanted so I moved on. Thanks, glad you enjoyed the video! 😊
Ordering my S5iix today. My A7iv has been on the sticks for live-streaming since i got it, as outdoor summer use is just not fun or reliable. Great video
I was a Nikon D750 for 9 years shooting mainly 50fps 1080p, Ive now moved to the A7R5 with one lens, it's the Tamron 20-40mm. I shoot for social media accounts and event companies. I thought I was going to shoot 4K but have stayed at 1080p but now at 100fps. At first I didn't like the A7R5 because it was more complex than my D750, but now I love it, it's setup just right for me. If I do move, it'll be for a Nikon Z8, because I like the idea of having a sensor cover and no shutter.
Yeh I still shoot mainly 1080p as well. However I am slowly moving towards 4k now, mainly because this S5ii I have is quite restricted with higher frame rates in 1080p, you lose all the new Phase detect AF. So thought I may as well see what 4k has to offer 😂 Yeh the Z8 does seem like a great camera!
Qe have the same lenses. I have an S5 and just bought the S5IIX .. s5 is going to be my B camera now and give me the opportunity to use it more comfortablly for play and experimentation
I went from the G85 to X100V to Lumix S5 to Sony A7RIII back to the S5 and as of 2 weeks ago the S5IIX 😅 which is my absolute favorite camera that I’ve had. Thought the A7RIII was gonna be the holy grail for me since I always wanted a Sony Alpha camera but turns out I didn’t like it like I thought I would and a month later I sold it. Deep down I’m a Lumix guy at heart
I did a switch to the Lumix s ii and to me it was mind blowing still learning how to handle the beast I had since 2015 I didn't upgrade cameras been rocking the Nikon d5500 all the way to 2023 and still own it won't ever get rid of it still a great camera but the LumIX is so gooooood
Wow yeh that's probably quite an upgrade! At least you didn't bounce around from camera to camera like me 🤣 You did it right! Glad you enjoy the camera 😊
I also did the big Jump thing.. Nikon to cannon to Lumix S5 to now S5iix.. absolutely love the S5iix. The 24-105 amazing lens. The Term kit however.. that's a canon term.. kit was crap with canon KIT with Lumix.. brilliant!
I've never had a Nikon if I'm honest. Glad to hear it was the right move for you too! Yeh you're probably right, the Canon kit lenses are pretty bad. To me the Panasonic ones are just like G series lenses for Sony, very good!
It stressed me out hearing how many times you switched systems, but your storytelling and personality had me subbing anyway😄 Hope you're still enjoying the camera✨
Update, sold my a7s3 and got the s5ii, kept my a7r3 and all the lenses though. Went with the s5ii rather than the x because of my passion for photography as well, yhe mechanical shitter is clutch. Amd added a x100v for fun
I'm curious if this Panasonic compares well to the FX3 and it's having fans and no rolling shutters a wider shot on 60 FPS and so on... I guess you didn't get the FX3 because you want photography
Yeh unfortunately I haven’t been able to try the fx3. It was an intriguing camera at its release but I also didn’t fully understand its purpose to be honest. I don’t feel like the fx range truly deserves the ‘cinema’ camera title. The FX6 is a whole other animal and the fx3 and fx30 seem like pretend cinema cameras to me. And the fact you can get the same camera but with a viewfinder and better photography features confuses me a bit. Sony have too many of the same camera, but with tiny differences. So yeh, if they came with built in ND’s or something then yeh that would set them apart a bit more. I just like having a hybrid style camera for my line of work. But I get how the built in cage features of the fx range can be very advantageous for more video focused users.
Awesome video Bro. I’m right there with you. I now have 3 - S5ii and 1 - S5 II X for Event Shooting… I think I found my Cameras that I am super happy with.
@@TheCreatorsBlock 😅 Yeah man, felt just like you in the opening line of your video 😂…. I would wrap up a paid gig, set aside something to buildup the kit. I’m all in on the L - Mount, 35, 85, 24-105, 70-300, 100 on the way, 2 Anamorphics, 3 Vintage. I was a huge Canon/Sony Shooter but this just makes life easier somehow. Weird right 😅 how ergonomics and features can affect your workflow. If you ever in Atlanta let’s sync up. 😂”Such a Sexy Sexy Camera”😂
Many thanks for the video! Of what I saw in your video is that the Sony a7siii looked sharper than the S5ii. Why is it? Wich of both cameras has the better dynamic range and rolling shutter in your opinion? Waiting for your response, best regards. Subscribed! :)
Thank you! I think Sony’s are generally quite over sharpened which is probably why. Dynamic Range I would say is very similar, I don’t think I can choose one to be honest. Rolling Shutter, the a7siii is brilliant at compensating for this in video. I think it has a much faster read out speed. Which is understandable considering it’s more of a flagship camera. But so far the S5iiX is doing well for rolling shutter but I don’t think I’ve put it to the test fully yet. I hope that helps!
When you switch to the s5iix it was a little bit more contrast like the shadows where a little bit more crushed but I think that can be easily adjusted in the settings or in the color grading process
Interesting. Actually very educational. Interesting that the You Tube videos never gave enough info. Probably they never can. But there used to be a saying to be `widely ready' about any topic. I think we should be `widely You Tubed,' now and get many different points of view. But one can never know enough unless one uses the thing for themselves and find out what works or not for them. That's where this has been very educational. The logic for the upgrade path is pretty straight forward. Doesn't really sound like GAS to me.
Thank you! Glad you found some logic in my journey 🤣 Totally agree. I always advise people watch and research as much as they can. Not everyone has the same needs, opinions or experiences. Thanks for the support!
Sir, you've just sold me on my next camera. I have the g85, and I absolutely love it but the autofocus terrible and there was not much change. I purchased a canon m50 mark ii for a photobooth, but never loved it as much as the g85. Need to save up for this camera. Damn, it looks beautiful and the autofocus ia great now!
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it! Yes there are some great deals to be had with the S5ii and various lenses. Make sure you do plenty of research beforehand to make sure it’s right for you! 😊
Loved the vid, loads of fun. Thanks. Just one main point came to mind, if I may: get great glass (lenses) and stick with those no matter what camera system you use/change to. I just shot a feature film on the original S5. I've loved Lumix since the GH4, but will never go back to m4/3. As you say, 16 to 35 on a full frame camera---who knew how wide 16mm really is !!! I could shoot a feature in a shoe box. Any road up, I still use my expensive, excellent quality, and built like a tank Canon glass. Generally glass is the biggest investment and the difference is massive. Lastly, in terms of changing systems, and especially with Sony in mind: I didn't even bother to upgrade my S5 to an S5 II X, BUT, now Sony have come out with a "Full Frame" "Global Shutter"...oh man. I know Lumix use Sony sensors anyway, so I am just hoping they grab some of those and put them in the very very delayed release of the S1H II. A "global shutter" S1H II, might get my hand back in my pocket.
Ha! Glad you enjoyed it! Yes I completely agree, investing in lenses is key! And to be fair I am loving the Panasonic lenses! I have the 24-105 which is just sooo nice, plus the 50 & 85 f1.8 lenses and they are excellent! Especially their lack of focus breathing! So much better than any Sony lens I've tried and they don't need any software or crops to help. Yes! Global shutter is game changing! However for me, internal ND's in a mirrorless body is what I really want! Global shutter is nice, but other than rolling shutter, I'm not that eager just yet. I can wait 🤣 So yeh let's hope the S1Hii gets some much needed and desired upgrades! Thanks for the support, much appreciated 😊
I shoot video so I don't pixel peep in the same way a stills photographer would but watching the deformation of boke balls in zooms with such a wide range, such as 24-105, is an easy give away to the compromises being made with that kind of lens. 16-35 or 24- 70 are about as wide a range I will work with on a zoom, but that is for feature film work where you might want to go that extra mile. Global shutter is a big deal for action sequences, or any moving object in the shot, so it's a pretty big deal. As regards ND's, surely there is a "digital" fix for this, either in camera or in lens. It's just sunglasses for god's sake. Digi ND could be a great new innovation, some hybrid of ISO. . @@TheCreatorsBlock
Yeh I did have the 24-70 on my Sony and loved it, especially being f2.8. But this time I've gone for more versatility. I don't shoot feature films or sports so for me this lens is great. It all depends what you shoot I guess. But yeh, global shutter is fantastic and would be game changing for sports etc. And correct me if I'm wrong but would it also eliminate flicker from lights? If so then that's incredible. But like I said, I can wait for that. For me having to take an ND filter off everything I need to go from outside to inside or for when I want to switch between video and photo is just soo annoying and slows me down. So either a mechanical or digital ND would be appreciated by me 🤣
Totally agree on all. I shoot V-log, it has a minimum ISO of 640. So, you can't shoot anything in daylight without heavy ND filters. And, I can't get critical focus without a larger monitor. And, I can't get 6k RAW without the Ninja, which I love, but, these cameras have go to be rigged out. That said, once you are set up you are getting an image that stands next to a 70k Alexa. Pretty amazing for about 4k all in. Happy shooting brother. Keep the videos coming, you have a really engaging personality.Your channel will certainly keep growing. @@TheCreatorsBlock
Yeh they are amazing cameras, which I find I usual that they're not as popular as the obvious other brands. But I quite like that really. Wow yeh that is some set-up! I don't think I'm quite there yet 🤣. But maybe one day! Thanks so much, that means a lot! You never know how the crazy internet world will find your humour or personality, so yeh thanks for that. And I'm definitely more motivated to keep going and trying to be a LOT more consistent. 😊
I’d probably say no if I’m truly honest. Not that it can’t, it’s just I feel there may be better options elsewhere for that. Firstly the Autofocus is good but it’s not as good as Sony. Plus the slower readout speed will cause a bit more rolling shutter especially for sports.
No problem! Well if you’re just focusing on video then the fx3 would be a far better option as the a7iv suffers from a fair bit of rolling shutter I believe. Or perhaps the ZVE1 or a7s3? They’re almost the same cameras really. But saying that Sony are rumoured to be releasing an a7v soon, so you might want to hold off?
@@TheCreatorsBlock thanks for taking the time to respond. Do you think the fx30 at its price point would be a good starting point? Or does crop sensor not make it worth it? Basically the 3 topics I’m looking to shoot id weddings, sports and cards. So looking to get a camera that suits all 3. The lumix looked good for the cars and weddings but as you said not so good for sports.
It’s difficult to say really, everyone has different preferences but the fx30 is a very good video camera, but is the ZVE1 not a similar price? If you can somehow borrow or test a few I think it would help you a lot!
I have had a lot of the same cameras as you had up to the Sony A7iii (which I also didn't love). Then I tried an EOS R, and it just works so well overall -- despite what its specs would imply -- I've been looking for the next step up for a while now, and just not taking the plunge. I'm currently giving the S5iiX a hard look, so I will check out some more of your videos. Have you found moire to be much of a problem with it?
@@TheCreatorsBlock I didn't. In the end I went back to Sony for an A7Cii, as I take product shot stills more often than I need high frame rates for really slow motion. If not for that, I probably would have gone for an ZV-E1. At any rate, I am really blown away by the A7Cii, it's amazing. And recent model Sony color science makes me sooooo much happier than the old models did.
Interesting and entertaining! Watching as I’m a drone & FPV person who wants to get a damn good hybrid ground camera when I can afford it. Watched so many videos, gone back and forth and pretty sure I want the S5iix. 👍
@@TheCreatorsBlock 😂 I’ve tried a couple of Sony models a bit before, but what my head keeps telling me is, based on the results I’ve seen from the S5iiX, along with various features which are important to me, plus the ability to expand the camera with SSD + Pro Res if ever needed, is making it seem like the best choice. Would be about my maximum limit on price, so I’m not seeing any other viable options with so much packed in.
Lumix do offer a lot of great professional features inside their bodies. I also managed to get mine with the 50mm and 20-60 for less than the Sony a7iv on its own! So they are very well priced. Good luck with it all! 😊
This is a great video! Honestly I was the same way been shoot since 1998 and times are changing. Let’s keep these companies on their heels. It plays better in the consumers favor. We make them continue to push the envelope.
Haha I loved this video too much… I’m at the 4:3rds stage wanting to go back to full frame! Got my eye on the older S1 purely due to finances but the struggle and battle is real!
Thanks for this video! I have a Sony A7iv and lumix s5ii. Sometimes I feel I miss shots on my lumix. Thinking about selling And go with the a 7iv. How do you feel about the auto focus on the lumix?? Also what software you edit in?
Thank you, glad you liked it 😊 Yeh, so I'm glad you picked up on what this video was about. It wasn't about promoting the S5iix over Sony, it was about finding a system that you find fits you best (albeit mine was a very costly journey 🤣). And if the a7iv is a better fit for you then it makes more sense to stick with one system that can share lenses, accessories and also will match up better in post. As for the AF in the Lumix, I find it works very well, pretty much on par to my old a7siii, but that camera is over 2 years old now and Sony has definitely made huge improvements since, so I can't compare to the IV or even the new ZV-e1 with all the AI stuff. So yeh if you're struggling with the S5ii then it would make sense to have two bodies of the same system that fits you best. Software I jump about a bit, I use both Final Cut and Premiere Pro. This was edited in Premiere, but I think I prefer FCP overall.
@@TheCreatorsBlock thank you for your reply brother. My wife was looking at me side eyed when I had cameras coming in. I get where you are coming from to find a system that works for you. I want to give canon a go with the r6markii, but along selling my current gear, might have to include my kids as the lenses are insane in price. I also looking at Nikon Z8, the 4k 120 option sounds pretty smooth and all electronic shutter this seems stacked to the gills. But like you, do I hear a Sony A75 in the background???
That's one of the reasons I'm still sticking to my A7IV at the moment. I do both photography and videography. I tested out the S5ii to see how it was. Borrowed some lenses from a friend and tried using it at an actual event. The auto-focus has improved, but I found myself missing shots that I never had an issue of getting with my A7IV. The camera will just start hunting for focus out of nowhere. For video, I will say the S5ii is absolutely fantastic. It is more enjoyable than the Sony, but both suck when it comes to rolling shutter. I shot both in LOG profiles and didn't really find that big of a difference between the two. Maybe the Sony had better dynamic range, but couldn't tell the difference. If Panasonic can fix their focusing issues, I might consider them. I will manual focus, but when shooting weddings, having auto-focus is a must.
I definitely sign up, like and share and you become my friend. I have rarely been so engaged in listening and watching. Felt so connected like if I was around, we’ll sure hang out. 😊 thank you
Man, it took me some times to watch your video 😁, but it's worth it 👍🏻, I like it when you say " that was too clinical and just used it for professional " , That's also how I feel about all of my ex cameras ,, except one, and that was the lumix gh2 that I bought when it first came out and it was the first camera I had, Yes,, I need a camera that can give me hope for sure , Desire to be creative and make me feel like I have friends at the same time ,, I think i'll go with S5iix , Cheers! 🍻
😂 Well I’m pretty happy with the S5iix to be honest but the fact that LUMIX cameras are just getting better and better means when I do fancy an upgrade there will be plenty to choose from!
Yeh it is a great system, quite underrated compared with Sony, Canon and Nikon. Fuji I haven't had any experience with to be honest, not sure they're for me.
Don’t feel bad. I’ve had the a6000, a6300, a6400, a6500, a6600, a7III, a7IV, a7Sii, a7Siii, a7Rii, a7Riii, a7C, FX30, FX3, FX6, Fuji XT-30, XT-1, XT3, and now… the S5IIx. I still have the FX6. Don’t even get me started on lenses…
I actually bought the S5iiX to fill the role of compact hybrid, knowing that I’d be switching my primary video/cinema cameras to Blackmagic. I have the 12G video assist which means I can record in MOV, MP4, ProRes, or BRAW. This way I can keep everything in the BRAW eco system, using mostly L-mount lenses. The sale of my FX6, FX3, and A7IV paid for a pair of Blackmagic Pyxis cinema cameras, an S5IIx, and a BMPCC6K as a crash/D cam (using EF glass without the L-mount adapters I bought).
A switching story short way: sony HDR-fx1 Canon 7D Canon 5D mk2 Sony a6500 sony a7III Canon R Canon R5 Sony A7 IV and a few weeks ago Nikon Z8 What did I learn? There is ALWAYS a better camera, and if you think that is not, it will show up tomorrow. So I wrote all my needs on the piece of paper (including enjoyment of use, lens I need, what I will use it to, not spec only) and checked which camera offered it all to me. It narrowed to 2 cameras. Nikon Z8 and Canon R5C. Then I took the one which felt better in hand. Today I am happy with Z8, tomorrow.... he he he
That's quite the back catalogue 🤣 That z8 keeps making an appearance in the comments! I might have to give that a try sometime. Yeh I agree there will always be a better camera, but it's finding the right system where those cameras will progress with you in a way that keeps you engaged. I'm hoping I've now found my system of choice and any future Lumix camera will keep me interested. So far all this AI and global shutter stuff that Sony are doing, isn't swaying me in the slightest. Waiting for an internal ND... Hoping Lumix will introduce that.
@@TheCreatorsBlock Cameras for me are tools, I am ok with changing them if they don't do what I need. I am not really into any company, I was a Canon fanboy a long time ago but I realised one important thing. None of these companies cares about me, they only want to sell me their product, no more no less. Z8 works for me for now, I record long-time content for 1.5-2 hours and do photography. Nikon does it well. (I recorded 2h 4k 30fps H265 N-Log, no overheating) Ergonomy is good (I prefer R5 but there is 30 min record limit) I thought about S5II and this camera was on my list, but I just like to have a 45mp sensor. In my opinion, I don't need to grow with the system, the system has to grow to serve my needs. When I work and I don't think about what I keep in my hand, just concentrate on my subject, then I know that I have the right tool in my hand. And about what you mentioned: AI, not much we can do about it, we just have to learn how to live with it. It will not stop. Sony's global shutter - a great thing, but do I need it? No. The Z8 sensor read is fast enough. I don't need 120fps and I think only a few people need it. And more importantly, technology is not ready yet. A9III global shutter is coming with a big price, and I don't talk about money. The minimum ISO is 250. the dynamic range went down 2 stops compared to A9 II. If you make money by shooting sport, that's a great camera, anything other... not really. Lumix does a great job, S5Ii gives us an amazing tool when you compare the price to what you have in it. I think it's a better deal than Nikon Z8. I used some Panasonic in past but mostly camcorders, so I didn't put it them on my list. If you looking for an internal ND, I don't think it will happen soon. Sony and Canon have their cinema lines which have everything needed for professionals. Internal ND, connectivity, modules. I think there is no business for them to bring this to cameras. To many people would lost their need for cine equipment. (I can be wrong of course and it is only my opinion)
Been putting off watching this cause I feel this move coming. Want to sell my a7iv and move back to Lumix. Started on the G9. I wish tamron would start making Lmount. I use my 28-200 so much for travel, but I feel a switch coming.
🤣 Like I said there's just something numb about a Sony! Yes they're great cameras but they're just not exciting or interesting. Yes Tamron would be a nice edition.
Great video. For a beginning vlogger, would you recommend the Lumix S5ii or the GH6? Keep up the amazing work, and yes, I do prefer the look of the Lumix S5ii...excellent quality and super crisp and vibrant. Well done!
I’d probably recommend the s5ii to be honest. Especially with the autofocus improvements it will be much more reliable for vlogging. Plus you can’t beat that full frame look. The s5ii can actually be picked up so cheap with lenses included! The 20-60 kit lens would be a great beginner vlogging lens! Thanks for the support! Glad you enjoyed the video!
@@TheCreatorsBlock You're awesome and thanks for this! Solid advice on sound reasoning and the lens recommendation for vloggers is very thoughtful. Just subbed and hope to see more content of yours! Cheers
hey!! thanks for the interesting video!! I am thinking of switching from the micro 4/3 serie of lumix to the s5 ii. Specially for stills and professional photography jobs. Do you think this will be a nice camera with the 24-70 from sigma for that?? I really love Lumix but I can only find videos about the capability of this camera for videos but not for stills. Thanks mate, i´ll appreciate the answer!!
No problem! I'm glad you enjoyed it! Well as a photography camera it's absolutely amazing to be fair but it really depends on what you're shooting. I do know that m43 cameras do benefit from far faster readout speeds meaning less buffering, rolling shutter and higher burst speeds. But if you're more slow paced, such as portrait, landscape etc then you can't go wrong. The colours are beautiful. I also had the sigma but for Sony E-mount and I have to say it's a fantastic lens and loved on my Sony almost full time.
Thanks for the fast answer!!! in my case it is for portraits, events and some street photography. At the moment what I am missing is more dynamic range and more depth of field, so this may be far better than my little lumix G90. Thanks again!!! It is helpful seeing that you were through some different brands and systems!! @@TheCreatorsBlock I keep watching what you do next!!
I'm shooting on a Pentax k-70, been thinking about getting a Pentax K1 ii, but Now I'm considering a Panasonic S5 ii or S5 iix, sucks to be poor. I was also considering Sony for the Lens options and have also thought about a Nikon Z6 ii, thoughts?
Ha! Yes tell me about it! We’ve just had a baby and the financial struggle is real! So buying new gear is definitely not something I can do at the moment. I’m all spent! 🤣 Hopefully this RUclips channel gets monetised at some point to help out 😂 It’s expensive running a YT channel! I’ve never tried Pentax if I’m honest so I couldn’t really compare. Although I don’t hear much about them so I assume they’re not one of the more successful brands? So if you’re wanting to move away from Pentax, you can’t go wrong with either Sony or Lumix really. It depends on what your priorities are. Lumix are very video centric, so for photography they tend to be slower, less burst rates etc. Whereas Sony have a body for all different use cases. But Lumix do have better usability, body design, button placements and features in my opinion, especially for video and things like timelapse. Nikon, erm yeh, they for some reason have never appealed to me at all. I feel they’re always behind, copying other brands and always being late to the party. But I think they do have great kit, but just not for me I don’t think. What are your thoughts on Canon btw? I started with them obviously which is probably why I don’t particularly favour Nikon 🤣 But Canon have great gear too and seem to be inventing new stuff all the time and pushing new boundaries. It all comes down to what you shoot really. Video, hands down Lumix or Sony. Photography Canon or Sony in my opinion. Or both, then Lumix or Sony 🤣 I hope this helps!
Hi, I've been seeing reviews of this camera. I'm about to take a giant step by changing from a t6i to this model. I have finally decided. I would like you to advise me regarding lenses, since I mostly do street and documentary photography, including portraits and landscape photography, as well as occasional videos. What lenses do you think could work? The 24-105 caught my attention with an adapter, but I would like to know the opinion of someone who has experience in this world. Thank you very much for sharing your experience.
Thank you! Appreciate the support 😊 Yeh so if you’re coming from a t6i I would think any of the latest mirrorless cameras will be a massive step up for you and you will be impressed by how far everything has come! As for lenses with the Lumix, this is just me, but I am trying to stick with the Panasonic lenses. Mainly because Panasonic are new to Phase detection and my thinking is their lenses will work the best. I don’t have any evidence of that, just my thinking. Plus their lenses tend to have excellent focus breathing compensation and image stabilisation built in. Making them more desirable for me. So for me I have gone with the 24-105 Panasonic lens as my main driver. And it is pretty fantastic. But I would also highly recommend the Sigma 24-70 f2.8 which I used to have for Sony and it is an amazing all round professional lens that you could do so much with. Again this is just me but I have always stayed away from adapting other lenses simply because they tend to never work as well as native lenses do. But some love adapting lenses as it allows them to expand their options past what is directly available in that particular lens mount. So it’s hard for me to recommend or tell you what you should get. I’d recommend trying to hire or borrow these lenses and give them a try. Because what works for me may not be the best option for you. I hope that helps!
@@TheCreatorsBlock Thank you very much for the advice. Without a doubt, I think that the most sensible thing is to rent lenses and which one is the most suitable for my taste.
1 month from now A7siv releases then he switches again. 6 Month later the Canon R6iii yep another switch, 3 months later frustration hits cause he still isn’t happy and he switches to Pana S5iiix. I would say just lay on your left side at night it can help get rid of GAS.
Considering the complete lack of support that Sony has given A7s3 users - still no breathing compensation etc - I do not believe that a7s4 could be a success. This lack of support btw is the reason I am leaving Sony ecosystem.
To be honest I haven’t done a load of testing with the LUMIX yet to make a fair comparison. The A7siii is really good and locks on to the subject well, however it’s not perfect. It fails at times, hunts or grabs on to something I don’t want it to. So I would never solely rely on it for complex shots. But for talking head they both seem to lock on equally well to me.
@@TheCreatorsBlock have heard you can add Lightroom presets to your photos when doing jpegs , if true it could give Fuji a run for its money. Like the idea of recording pro res and the stabilisation is said to be insane
This is funny because I took the same trek but without Sony. I was ping ponging between Panasonic GH to Canon to Fuji to Leica to Panasonic S1, S1R, S1H to Canon and now purchased the S5iix. Not fun in the wallet but I've always found the Panasonic cameras fun to shoot and they have a lot of fun features that the other cameras don't have. The only other camera I have is the BlackMagic 6K FF which I only purchased because I didn't need to add additional equipment. It is L-Mount which I have a bunch of lenses now, I have V-mount batteries because BlackMagic batteries don't last long. I already had CFast cards and the camera has a 1.6 squeeze factor built in which matches perfectly with my Sirui 1.6 anamorphic lens set. I shoot everything else on the Lumix and I'm already saving for the second version of the S1R which I'm sure will have at least a 60mp sensor for photos. I do love the photos coming out of the S5iix though so maybe I'll re-think that.
Ha! Happy to hear I'm not the only one! Yeh the S5iiX is a great photo camera as well. I'm not as interested in higher megapixel cameras to be honest, but I get why they may appeal to some. 24mp is perfect for me.
got the s5ii with 20-60 kit lens for $2100 and decided to order the 24-70mm lumix s pro lens which is coming in soon decided to return the s5ii 2 days later for the s5iix just the body which is 2,000 just gonna pair it with the 24-70mm lens i ordered and do without the kit lens also have the nifty fifty coming in just thinking now of a zoom and super wide angle lens
Nice! Yeh I was looking at the 24-70 to be honest but went with the 24-105 in the end. That decision is never an easy one to make, even now 😂 Also have the nifty, it’s actually very very good. I prefer it to my 85 to be honest. The X is definitely worth the extra cost over the ii if you ask, just for the design! 🤣
@@TheCreatorsBlockhonestly had the s5ii for a couple weeks its a long story but loved the camera its just all these features for 200 bucks more plus since i was ordering the 24-70 didn’t need the kit lens and now that i have the s5iix in my hands i love seeing all these new features and options guess ima give me more kinda guy
Thank you! ☺️ Ha! Yeh it looks pretty good to be honest! But I can’t be switching again 🤣 I’ll end up divorced, which will be expensive and I’ll probably end up having to sell all my camera gear for food. So I best try stay married to keep hold of the camera gear I’ve got 🤣
Haha love this video. Just like me with gear, sell buy, ah shit, sell buy back! I can’t make my mind up to get lumix or Sony. Do you still rate the lumix? Atb mate
Ha! Thanks, I’m glad you enjoyed it! It does become quite an addiction 😂 Yeh I’m still loving the Lumix. I do much prefer it to the Sony, but to be fair you can’t go wrong with either system. It depends on what you’re after really. Maybe try borrow or hire them and see which you prefer. Thanks again for the support!
I totally agree! I have done the same thing. Had a black magic setup - swapped It all for an fx3 and got the 24-70 gm ii - really didn’t like it. I took it back and got an fx30 and a new black magic 6k full Frame on order. I feel exactly the same way that you do about sony. Getting rid of the sony fx30 and swapping it for the lumix s5iix
I haven’t got it yet. Still got the fx30. But I’m swapping it - im in the uk too and there’s an offer on for the lumix at the moment - trade in a body or lens you get 300 off and and the lumix 85 1.8 lens - would be stupid not to! I didn’t really the Sony stuff. Lens was great but there’s just something missing. I know exactly what you’re talking about. How do you find the menu system ??? Subbed :)
Ha! Awesome! I'm glad you're enjoying it! Yeh there are some crazy offers with Lumix. I got mine with the 50mm, 20-60mm and 85mm for a ridiculous price. No other company does these types of offers. Enjoy! And thanks for the support ☺️
if you want to stay within 1 ecosystem for camera/lenses. Is then Sony or Panasonic better? Mostly because I'm looking for my first video-focussed camera which also must be futureproof to start as freelance filmmaker.
Ooo that's a very difficult question for me to answer to be honest. Like I said in the video, it's very personal and what you find more comfortable and enjoyable to use. Both ecosystems are fantastic, and both will allow you to start as a freelance filmmaker. So maybe you need to either rent both and see what you prefer using OR look at the lens options for both systems. Even look at the accessories for each system and see what appeals to you the most. For example the E-mount has a plethora of lens options, with many available second hand at a bargain price. Sony also has amazing wireless mic options for use on the hot shoe. They also have more professional cinema cameras that share the same mount. All these things could be important to you. OR Lumix, who have the L-mount with access to Leica glass, along with arguably the best colour science and their cameras tend to have more professional features at a much lower cost, such as shutter angle, waveforms, more codecs etc. So yeh, sorry haha, there are benefits to both! I would mainly recommend you try both and see which you prefer. You can rent them, Lumix also at the moment allow you to borrow their cameras for a limited time, like a 'try before you buy' option which is pretty cool. I hope that somewhat helps, and good luck! 😊
I would love to hear your thoughts. I'm new to cameras, but I mostly shoot sports videography. I do some light color grading, and I value good in body image stabilization. I just recently got into photography too for branding but the photo capabilities of my camera is limited. I'm currently shooting on ZVE1(my first camera purchase). Do you suggest switching to Lumix s5iix for the video specs/features and price? Thanks
Oooh tough choice. I guess you already know my choice 🤣 However if you already have a nice lineup of Sony lenses, then you can probably get a great deal on an a7siii now… or is the a7siv just around the corner 🤣 It never ends my friend and unfortunately only you can make the choice. I feel your pain! 😂
pretty much same experience I had with a6400 as you with a6500 also I had barely removable sensor dust, and I even didn't removed the lens once, bought it as a kit 16-50 what about rolling shutter in S5IIx?
Sensor dust is a pain. Yeh rolling shutter on the S5iix is there but it's much more manageable and usable. I think most cameras in this price range suffer from it to a certain degree. But it's nowhere near as bad as the a6500 and even the a7iii days.
@@TheCreatorsBlock thanks for reply! it's just I'm thinking to switch from my Fuji X-T3 to either S5IIx or XH2s. Ideally I wanna two separate devices for photo and video, and I much prefer film photography, albeit it's much pricier ;c
And how is S5IIX after 3 months-same good feel like S1, but with autofucus??? This camera is revolutionary in this price range like Canon 5DII was. When i saw it in anouncment, i said that i'll buy it. After 3 days my friend come with my S5IIX with 50/1.8 and 20-60/3,5-5,6 from Japan.🎉
Yeh absolutely loving it, the image quality is fantastic with great colours and the autofocus is a huge step up from the S1! I will be doing a follow up video soon, but we've just had a baby so everything is a bit hectic at the moment so haven't had chance. Thanks for the support and I hope you enjoy your camera too!
In Lumix S5IIX it's little be annoying start up, time from video end and play file. My joystick somtimes lag when i change focusing modes. But i think Sony a7 S III has other similar problems?
Yes the start up time is a bit annoying. But I do find after the initial start up, any additional start ups tend to be much much quicker. It’s only if I leave it for a few hours without powering on that it takes time to get going. But yes, annoying nonetheless. The Sony a7siii I still use on a daily basis for work and, yes, there have been quite a few issues. The main one being a complete shutdown after only 50% battery usage. Also failure to focus at all when using a flash trigger (not all the time, but it means I need to keep retrying the shutter to get the focus to lock, very annoying). So yeh even Sony is not perfect 😂
Dudeeeeee. 😂 Get fuji next. Im with you about sony, have the a7r3 since its release and the a7s3 sonce day one as well. Enjoy the r3 better woth a grip and absolutely despise the a7s3 bubble body and less than stellar ergonomics. The image quality and lens selection however is pure magic
🤣 Yeh Fuji would probably be good as a travel camera 🤣 Yeh there is absolutely no consistency with any Sony body whatsoever 🤣 They're all different! And they all offer slightly different features. Madness. But they do have excellent AF and the image quality is second to none. But they're just a little bit numb.
An excellent video, jolly pleased to hear I’m not the only one that suffers from G.A.S.!! I’m just deliberating over changing my Fuji X-T3 to the S5II…
I' switched back and forth to see the sony vs lumix image, sony is much better! Better colours, better autofocus and all of these are obvious inside this video 😇.
Autofocus perhaps is Sony's biggest strong point, they have nailed it and continue to improve it for sure. However the actual look and colour science, I have to again disagree. It is very nice and I have got amazing footage with it, but I feel more work is needed to achieve that. Whereas Lumix just looks more pleasing to me and their vlog is so much better to work with in post. It's all subjective though, there's no real right answer.
@@TheCreatorsBlock i will only say that ok, the color is mostly a personal preference and there is no standart on that, it is mostly based on personal preference. :)
Similar experience to yours. I bought an R50 from Canon in November... gave myself it as a present for later. Enjoyed it for the past little while... But , I wanted full frame...so I order a speed booster...got a sigma lens, then just sobered up and realized: Hey dummy, you're chasing VIDEO, you love cinematography & photography. Cut your losses, return the lens, throw the R50 on ebay. It's struggling to attain the look you want. Lumix, will not. Sony will not... etc. Pooling everything together is $1200 off from this camera... so... Yeah. For an artist/art teacher buying their first camera I think I am going Lumix and sticking with it. I should have: read more. BUT, I also think people shouldn't be too hard on themselves. If you and your loved ones are taken care of, you're financially relatively able to afford it...Ehhh....sometimes that's just a hobby. Keyboards, Airsoft, hell even in the art world, there's USED stuff for a reason. People impulse buy, and G.A.S. is real. TRYYYYY to mitigate it as much as possible fellow nerds. Find the images/video you love. Find out how to achieve that, and then go from there. Do not force a tool to do something it struggles to do, including yourself and wallet. ( Now time for me to take my own cringey advice lol )
I'm glad someone else also moved away from Sony 🤣
I do feel like Panasonic get overlooked at times. They're better than most manufacturers in my opinion.
@@TheCreatorsBlock I'm also a bit disappointed that reputable sites have few (petapixel) to no (dpreview) in-depth reviews about this wonderful camera.
Honestly, I recommend it to anyone looking to get into filmmaking. It honestly has it all.
What MFT you use ?
Every time you switch brands, you learn. You learn about yourself as a photographer or videographer, you learn about what's important for you and what characteristics of your equipment aren't so important.
I hate Sony, i bought Sony because it was "better" but I never enjoyed shooting with Sony. Now I'm in Nikon, but watching closely what happen with Panasonic, i use manual lenses and the stabilization in the Panasonic cameras is the best...
Yeh completely agree. When you're learning you don't know what you like, how you prefer to shoot, what style you like etc. So it's a maturing process is what you're telling me 😂
To be honest I haven't ever shot Nikon, I've never even held one, for some reason I have never gravitated towards them.
Yes I feel your pain!
Bro do you still sell that 5D?
And, wow it did you great things. I never thought someone would say something is better than canon in color.
I watched the whole thing, nearly shut you off several times, but was happily relived when you switched to Panasonic S5iix and you were finally satisfied.
🤣 Well I’m happy to hear you persevered
Great video!! Totally resonated with me. 😂
Just had the S5iiX delivered and enjoying learning the new system. Looking forward to your future videos 👍🏻🤘
😂 I'm just glad to hear I'm not the only one!
Yeh it can be fun learning a new system, enjoy!
Thanks for the support ☺️
Call me a bokeh snob 😂
If only the lenses were compatible I might have bought a g9ii as a b-cam.
Thanks for the welcome, happy to be here 😊
That was pretty funny. Just bought the S5 and I feel so pleasantly affirmed.
Thank you! ☺️
totally enjoyed your GAS journey honestly and totally understand your reasons behind the switches , I my self had a Canon 7d as my first DSLR camera bought it at launch date back in 2009 i loved and enjoyed using it and as you said it sure can take a beat and then some am a commercial airline co-pilot so logging it with me for every layover around the globe did yield me some amazing images with it its just got so heavy to carry , so since I was mostly enjoying street photography when am in a new town and wanted something low profile and light to carry decided few years back to get me a Sony RX100m6 which was the latest at that time and have honestly enjoyed and loved the images it can capture despite its small 1 inch sensor , but after the years passed by and since i mostly do stills with the rx100 cause it does over heat quickly when you shoot in 4k i was craving something bigger and better and honestly as i was in rush to buy me anything i spent lots of hours and hours watching RUclips videos and finding all about the cripple hammer of each camera in every system which just made the buying decision grow longer well that til the lumix s5iix came by and it just appeared perfect in everyway so i just knew this is going to be my camera and finally pulled the trigger and oh what a jump it was from the 7d to this one , shooting videos and taking picture with it is so seamless and enjoyable and fun and it just makes me hit the streets in every trip just to enjoy shooting with it , as for the lenses I've been hunting some good deals on eBay and mpb since i didn't had any l mount lenses and here is what i got me so far ,
sigma 16-28 2.8 . sigma 28-70 2.8 . sigma 70-300 4.5 , sigma 24 1.4 , lumix 85 1,8 , ttartisan 35 f2 , ttartisan 50 f2 , laowa Argus 28mm f1.2 , sirui anamorphic s35 35mm 1,8 and lemme just tell you the amount of beauty you get with these amazing deals behind the s5iix is just beyond extraordinary
sorry for the lengty comment i just was surprised to find out that we both had the same first and last camera 🤣🤣
🤣 Glad to hear I'm not the only one! It sounds like you have quite an interesting job! And to go from a 7d to a S5iix is quite a leap so I bet you are seeing even more of a jump in image quality and performance! You managed to skip all the years of buying and selling like me at least 🤣
I hope you enjoy it and sounds like you have quite a lens lineup on the cards!
I just switch from A7S3 and FX30 to S5m2x. Sooooo happy to do that!
Could you tell me what was the thing that make you happy abt s5iix, btw I'm thinking to buy a7siii but lumix s5iix seems more advanced machine.
The only disadvantage is the upfront cost and maybe a gimbal to match the s5ii stabilization.
yeah right
I have a S1 but when you switch cameras, I don’t think the S5ii was better. That A7SIII is a beast!
No doubt that the Sony is a beast! Hard to beat for sure! I just like using the Lumix more, just a personal preference.
How do you like the S1?
Can't wait to see what you can create with the S5IIX. I also own it, and I like it so far.
Thank you 😊
I'm definitely more excited to create. What lenses do you have with yours?
If the S5iix had 4K60 uncropped and even 120fps uncropped it would be an instant buy for me, no matter the price.
I have the gh5 and 6, and i love those cameras, but tyeh really struggle with lowlight and autofocus when you need to have it. I mainly use it for solo 'run and gun' wedding videos.
I really don't know what to do. I want a new fullframe but the sony's are so expensive and i looooove the ibis and overall colorspace/functionality of the panasonic cameras.
The 24-105 is a beautifull macro lens btw!
Maybe wait for the S1 range to be updated. They may put some of these features in them.
Camera rentals can save a crap ton of money against the wrong choice.
Yes very true, this is what I recommend to do or borrow a friend's, colleague's, whatever. See what suits you best.
Interesting stuff! Really like your style of storytelling and editing 👏
Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed it 😊
You keep on switching because you believe it is the camera doing the work, it is the user not the camera my friend even you will buy the most expensive camera if you don't know how to use it then....
Yeh I understand what you're saying, but for me it wasn't that I didn't know how to use it. It was more that I didn't enjoy using it.
I think he is switching because he can. Nothing bad about that.
@@TheCreatorsBlockabsolutely right. I sold my Ricoh gr3 for a Leica tl2 for the same reason. No ibis, not as compact, very indiscreet
Than you! Glad you enjoyed it 😊
Yeh there is just something about Lumix that makes them fun to use!
I've worked with the Lumix S5(1) for 18 months now and am VERY pleased. What a war machine.
Thank you for telling us of your buying, selling, buying, selling, etc., etc. I watched it all the way through, and I was amused.
Ha! No problem at all, I'm glad it was amusing 🤣
Thanks for the great story.
I almost bought 3 of your other recent cameras so don't feel too bad. I have had a similar journey. I love my S5iix.
Ha, no worries glad you enjoyed! 😊
We are very spoiled and probably getting too fussy 😂
But you’re right, they are just tools to get the job done. And all can do amazing jobs! I’m just one who enjoys tools 😂 So I like to enjoy using mine. I’m the same with a combi-drill and mitre saw 😂
😂😂 I laughed a lot while watching this video. We’ve all been there man. Colors are looking great man
🤣 I'm glad you enjoyed it! Thanks man 😊
I fully agree with your thoughts on the A7S3.
Great video
Awesome, I hope you enjoy it! Glad you enjoyed the video 😊
I'm confused between buying a sony a7iv or lumix 5sii? I want to use it for traveling photos and videos, what do you think?
So thought I may as well see what 4k has to offer 😂
Yeh the Z8 does seem like a great camera!
The happiness on your face after switching worth every penny 🏵️
🤣
Qe have the same lenses. I have an S5 and just bought the S5IIX .. s5 is going to be my B camera now and give me the opportunity to use it more comfortablly for play and experimentation
Ha we also share the same first name and my brother is called Omar, so that’s slightly funny 🤣
Sounds like a nice little setup you have there! 😊
I'm 35 and I lived through every generation of camera you mentioned. My first camera was a Sony DCR-VX1000 at 15 😅
3CCD's baby! DV Tape! 4:3! Yeah! 😂
Ha! That’s quite the boomerang 😂
Glad to hear you’re liking the camera too 😊
I did a switch to the Lumix s ii and to me it was mind blowing still learning how to handle the beast I had since 2015 I didn't upgrade cameras been rocking the Nikon d5500 all the way to 2023 and still own it won't ever get rid of it still a great camera but the LumIX is so gooooood
@@TheCreatorsBlock i remember the Canon 18-55 lens.. that was ok.. being nice. not amazing that's for sure.
It stressed me out hearing how many times you switched systems, but your storytelling and personality had me subbing anyway😄 Hope you're still enjoying the camera✨
🤣 Thank you! Much appreciated ☺️
Still loving the camera!
Update, sold my a7s3 and got the s5ii, kept my a7r3 and all the lenses though. Went with the s5ii rather than the x because of my passion for photography as well, yhe mechanical shitter is clutch.
Amd added a x100v for fun
Nice! Sounds like quite the collection 😂
What lenses did you go for with the LUMIX?
Rolling shutter s5iix is the same as sony a7iii, which means not good. FX3 rolling shutter is very low, well, given its 12mp sensor mostly.
Awesome video Bro. I’m right there with you. I now have 3 - S5ii and 1 - S5 II X for Event Shooting… I think I found my Cameras that I am super happy with.
Thanks man! Much appreciated! Wow that’s quite a lot of gear! Glad you’ve found the right system! ☺️
Impossible. The S5 ii supersamples 4K from the full 6K sensor. The Sony a7s iii is a simple 1:1 crop and thus after debayering is not even 4K.
Thank you! Glad you found some logic in my journey 🤣
Totally agree.
Just subscribed. A very entertaining video! New firmware is coming in a week or so that vastly improves the S5iix 👍🏻
Thank you! Much appreciated 😊🙏
And yes! Can’t wait for the firmware!
I can wait 🤣
So yeh let's hope the S1Hii gets some much needed and desired upgrades!
Would the lumix be a good camera for sports videography?
I’d probably say no if I’m truly honest. Not that it can’t, it’s just I feel there may be better options elsewhere for that. Firstly the Autofocus is good but it’s not as good as Sony. Plus the slower readout speed will cause a bit more rolling shutter especially for sports.
@@TheCreatorsBlock thanks appreciate the feedback. So would you say more along the lines of Sony FX3 or Sony A7 iv?
This was such a good video. Thank you for making it.
Oh wow thank you! 😊
I’m glad you enjoyed it!
Nice! Did you got for an S5iiX in the end? No I haven’t experienced any moire yet.
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it. So far the S5iiX is great, but definitely do your research! Good luck 😊
@@TheCreatorsBlock Cheers! I think I’ve done so much research that my head may explode. The weight is heavily leaning on this camera now. 😂
🤣 I know the feeling! Have you managed to test out the camera first to make sure it's right for you? Or any other cameras?
Thank you, half you enjoyed it! Yeh it's good for them to have stiff competition!
Haha I loved this video too much… I’m at the 4:3rds stage wanting to go back to full frame!
Got my eye on the older S1 purely due to finances but the struggle and battle is real!
😂 glad you enjoyed it! Yeh I did love the S1, but just be weary of the AF, but I guess coming from m43 you might already be used to it 🤣
I will buy the S5 mark 1 because of the budget. Is it good? AF is usable if im going to shoot like event?
Thanks for this video! I have a Sony A7iv and lumix s5ii. Sometimes I feel I miss shots on my lumix. Thinking about selling
And go with the a 7iv. How do you feel about the auto focus on the lumix?? Also what software you edit in?
Thank you, glad you liked it 😊
Yeh, so I'm glad you picked up on what this video was about.
I bought them all. I have Canon Nikon Sony and LUMIX. Nikon is my favorite, then Canon then Tie with LUMIX and Sony for video only.
I definitely sign up, like and share and you become my friend. I have rarely been so engaged in listening and watching. Felt so connected like if I was around, we’ll sure hang out. 😊 thank you
Loved your video and the fact that you're a MUSE fan :D
Ha! Muse all the way! Thank you, glad you enjoyed it! 😊
Ha! Glad you liked it 😂
Cant wait your gear update video after lumix s1 ii release 😄 if rumors true stacked sensor will make it insane camera
😂 Well I’m pretty happy with the S5iix to be honest but the fact that LUMIX cameras are just getting better and better means when I do fancy an upgrade there will be plenty to choose from!
Great trip with all the mentioned switches :D As I watched the vid, You become my most beloved CamGollum. Subbed :)
Ha! Thank you very much 🤣
CamGollum, love it 😂
Thanks for your support 😊
colors are better definitely. autofocus works. what more do you need/want? Fujifilm s20?
Yeh it is a great system, quite underrated compared with Sony, Canon and Nikon. Fuji I haven't had any experience with to be honest, not sure they're for me.
Idk if this is true but AF on s5iix hunts a lot or does not track well?
Don’t feel bad. I’ve had the a6000, a6300, a6400, a6500, a6600, a7III, a7IV, a7Sii, a7Siii, a7Rii, a7Riii, a7C, FX30, FX3, FX6, Fuji XT-30, XT-1, XT3, and now… the S5IIx. I still have the FX6. Don’t even get me started on lenses…
🤣🤣🤣 we should start a support group 😂
So... Will you stay with Lumix?
A switching story short way:
sony HDR-fx1
Canon 7D
Canon 5D mk2
Sony a6500
sony a7III
Canon R
Canon R5
Sony A7 IV
and a few weeks ago
Nikon Z8
What did I learn?
There is ALWAYS a better camera, and if you think that is not, it will show up tomorrow.
So I wrote all my needs on the piece of paper (including enjoyment of use, lens I need, what I will use it to, not spec only) and checked which camera offered it all to me. It narrowed to 2 cameras. Nikon Z8 and Canon R5C.
Then I took the one which felt better in hand. Today I am happy with Z8, tomorrow.... he he he
That's quite the back catalogue 🤣
That z8 keeps making an appearance in the comments!
(I recorded 2h 4k 30fps H265 N-Log, no overheating) Ergonomy is good (I prefer R5 but there is 30 min record limit)
I thought about S5II and this camera was on my list, but I just like to have a 45mp sensor.
In my opinion, I don't need to grow with the system, the system has to grow to serve my needs. When I work and I don't think about what I keep in my hand, just concentrate on my subject, then I know that I have the right tool in my hand.
And about what you mentioned:
AI, not much we can do about it, we just have to learn how to live with it.
Lumix fx3 form factor Gh6 or s5iix coming this fall? Autofocus is here to stay?Nice reel🎉Thank You
Ha! Yes that would be nice indeed!
Thank you, glad you enjoyed it 😊
I have similar story and watching this video i thought you talking about me 😂
Your videos are So good 🤩 👍👍👍👍👍
Cant wait to see more videos!!!
Ha! Glad to hear I'm not the only one! Thank you! ☺️
Cheers
Ordered mine s5ii a couple days ago, it finally arrived and omg, I’m completely blown by the image it produces
Nice! Yeh the first time I used the S1 I was blown away with the image. The phase detect AF definitely completes these new cameras.
hey!! thanks for the interesting video!!
Hopefully this RUclips channel gets monetised at some point to help out 😂 It’s expensive running a YT channel!
I started with them obviously which is probably why I don’t particularly favour Nikon 🤣
But Canon have great gear too and seem to be inventing new stuff all the time and pushing new boundaries.
It all comes down to what you shoot really. Video, hands down Lumix or Sony. Photography Canon or Sony in my opinion.
Or both, then Lumix or Sony 🤣
I hope this helps!
Very nice video . The honesty it’s amazing.. by the way when you will try fuji? 🤣
🤣 Thank you! Glad you liked it 😊
Ha! No I don’t plan to try Fuji just yet… it may cause a divorce at this point 😂
Thank you! Appreciate the support 😊
Yeh so if you’re coming from a t6i I would think any of the latest mirrorless cameras will be a massive step up for you and you will be impressed by how far everything has come!
Ha! Yeh I'm pretty happy with the Lumix system so will be sticking with it for a while! ☺️
Considering the complete lack of support that Sony has given A7s3 users - still no breathing compensation etc - I do not believe that a7s4 could be a success. This lack of support btw is the reason I am leaving Sony ecosystem.
Great video but all I could think about was how you are using the mic the wrong way round... you have it facing the floor
Yeh I’ve already been made aware. I thought it was from the top but it’s from the front. Ah well.
@@TheCreatorsBlock i've seen it many times so you are not alone :D oh and you forgot about Fujifilm!
I’m used to shotgun mics 😂
Ha! Yeh I haven’t tried Fuji yet! Probably sticking with LUMIX for a wile though to be fair.
Honestly how does the autofocus compare to Sony a7s3? Am looking admirably at the lumix.
Great video and lessons to teach, thanks for maling this!
Thank you ☺️
Glad you enjoyed it!
I am subscribed! What a fantastic video! I loved it! LOL!
Ha! I’m glad you enjoyed it! Thanks very much for your support 😊
got the s5ii with 20-60 kit lens for $2100 and decided to order the 24-70mm lumix s pro lens which is coming in soon decided to return the s5ii 2 days later for the s5iix just the body which is 2,000 just gonna pair it with the 24-70mm lens i ordered and do without the kit lens also have the nifty fifty coming in just thinking now of a zoom and super wide angle lens
Nice! Yeh I was looking at the 24-70 to be honest but went with the 24-105 in the end. That decision is never an easy one to make, even now 😂
Also have the nifty, it’s actually very very good.
I think you're in a good place now. You might upgrade to the next Panasonic but at least you won't be switching systems
Indeed! Loving the Panasonic so won’t be switching 😂
There’s Fuji like the h2S which is incredible in photos and video. Maybe that’s another switch 😏
Ha! Yeh and also the new x100vi looks intriguing 🤔
A very good Video. Thank you. This was interesting.
Thank you ☺️
Glad you enjoyed it!
Ma dude, great video! Btw, there is a new Canon R5 mark II 😂 please switch 😂🎉
Thank you! ☺️
Ha!
It does become quite an addiction 😂
Yeh I’m still loving the Lumix. I do much prefer it to the Sony, but to be fair you can’t go wrong with either system. It depends on what you’re after really. Maybe try borrow or hire them and see which you prefer.
Thanks again for the support!
I totally agree!
I have done the same thing. Had a black magic setup - swapped
It all for an fx3 and got the 24-70 gm ii - really didn’t like it.
I took it back and got an fx30 and a new black magic 6k full Frame on order.
I feel exactly the same way that you do about sony. Getting rid of the sony fx30 and swapping it for the lumix s5iix
Wow fx3 and the gm2! Was it worth it? How are you liking the S5iix?
I haven’t got it yet. Still got the fx30.
But I’m swapping it - im in the uk too and there’s an offer on for the lumix at the moment - trade in a body or lens you get 300 off and and the lumix 85 1.8 lens - would be stupid not to!
I didn’t really the Sony stuff. Lens was great but there’s just something missing. I know exactly what you’re talking about.
How do you find the menu system ???

@@TheCreatorsBlock update!
Got my lumix and I feel exactly the same way as you. The image is stunning!! Nice to play with in post!!
Ha! Awesome! I'm glad you're enjoying it! Yeh there are some crazy offers with Lumix. I got mine with the 50mm, 20-60mm and 85mm for a ridiculous price. No other company does these types of offers.
Enjoy! And thanks for the support ☺️
You poor bastard... are speaking directly to my soul!
if you want to stay within 1 ecosystem for camera/lenses.
Thanks
Amazing story telling !
Thank you! 😊
My story. Sony to Fiji to Nikon to Sony to Fuji to Nikon. I'm now considering the Lumix S5IIX
Ha! Much quicker than an 18 minute video ey 🤣
If you're using that Yeti mic as your mic, the pickup is actually in the front of the mic not the top! Just a pointer for better sound :)
Ha! Yeh haven't got used to it yet. Cheers 😊
What about the single memory card? What happen when things go wrong?
Single memory card for what? The LUMIX has twin cards.
The switch scene.. definitely nice.
Ha! Thanks. 😊
Im at that crossroads atm. Sell a6700 and a7iii and go for the a7siii or the s5iix. What to do?
Oooh tough choice. I guess you already know my choice 🤣
However if you already have a nice lineup of Sony lenses, then you can probably get a great deal on an a7siii now… or is the a7siv just around the corner 🤣
It never ends my friend and unfortunately only you can make the choice. I feel your pain! 😂
Good luck to all of us when the Lumix S1 mark II comes out.
Ha! I know! Although it’s a great time to be in the LUMIX ecosystem!
I am planning to buy a lumix camera in future as my first camera. I agree with all of your opinions in video and in here. 💚👍
cheers!
pretty much same experience I had with a6400 as you with a6500
also I had barely removable sensor dust, and I even didn't removed the lens once, bought it as a kit 16-50
what about rolling shutter in S5IIx?
Sensor dust is a pain. Yeh rolling shutter on the S5iix is there but it's much more manageable and usable. I think most cameras in this price range suffer from it to a certain degree. But it's nowhere near as bad as the a6500 and even the a7iii days.
@@TheCreatorsBlock thanks for reply! it's just I'm thinking to switch from my Fuji X-T3 to either S5IIx or XH2s. Ideally I wanna two separate devices for photo and video, and I much prefer film photography, albeit it's much pricier ;c
i am also Sony user and i think this time to change my cemra system Lumix S5iiX
Nice to hear I’m not alone 🤣
🤣 Yeh Fuji would probably be good as a travel camera 🤣
Yeh there is absolutely no consistency with any Sony body whatsoever 🤣 They're all different! And they all offer slightly different features. Madness.
But they do have excellent AF and the image quality is second to none. But they're just a little bit numb.
Grea video but the amount of cameras you purchased gave me a heart attack
😂 Imagine how my wife feels 😂
Why is your hashtag Sony xperia?
Ha! Well spotted! That's my copy and pasting gone wrong! Fixed it now, cheers!
"I hate it"...
😂 That made me laugh!
😂 thank you! ☺️
An excellent video, jolly pleased to hear I’m not the only one that suffers from G.A.S.!!
I’m just deliberating over changing my Fuji X-T3 to the S5II…
Man the X-T3 is so garbage you could switch to a sony A7sii or A7s 1 and get way better results ...trust me
Ha! Thank you, glad you enjoyed it 😊
I don't have much experience with Fuji, so I can't really comment, but so far the S5iiX is great!
I switched to S5IIX - it´s the best hybrid camera i used.
It is a very enjoyable camera to use 😊
Similar experience to yours.
I bought an R50 from Canon in November... gave myself it as a present for later. Enjoyed it for the past little while... But , I wanted full frame...so I order a speed booster...got a sigma lens, then just sobered up and realized:
Hey dummy, you're chasing VIDEO, you love cinematography & photography.
