She has a live version with an orchestra that’s hella dope
Ooh, I want to check that out!!! I love orchestral music!!!
From the Grammys...1995ish??? Maybe later....? It's amazing !!
@@TheRealSweetcherryo That sounds about right. I haven’t seen it in years
ruclips.net/video/FjTB6EG3xGo/видео.html
This version here!!
@@BillGraper oh my, you haven’t? It’s splended
Next reaction for Alanis could be THANK YOU. IMO, it completes the triad of her life and search for inner peace. From YOU OUTTA KNOW ( the raw pain she felt) to UNINVITED ( the unexpected curve when someone broke through her wall) and finally THANK YOU ( when she forgives and finds inner peace). I loved hearing her journey throughout the years.
I agree 100%!
That's a great song, probably my favourite one by her other than You Learn.
I hope they watch her live version during the pandemic. She still gots them pipes
@@justin4360 agreed. But there is an early days live version on the'tube (several, actually) definitely worth a look.
This song MUST be played with volume at 100 to get full effect!! This is her masterpiece!! LOVE IT!!!!
Watching her sing this live is amazing too! The orchestra accompanying her is powerful. She’s pure talent!
Agreed. If nothing else for your own enjoyment. Exquisite
Saw her last summer 22 her dancing and headbangin under the strobes and lasers blew my freaking mind 🎉
♥ Her voice is so sick, she even inhales on key.
Singing every word. This is her masterpiece.
She wrote this song for the movie "City of Angels"
Great movie
Fantastic soundtrack too! I just read that it was written about an older man (her teacher) who was pursuing her.
This song was an absolutely perfect accompaniment to the movie. ❤️
Every time I hear this song I think of the movie.
Recorded that movie on VHS and replayed the shit out of the end credits where the song played 😂
Taylor Hawkins (RIP) was her drummer back in the day before he drummed for the Foo Fighters.
May Taylor RIP!
Asia & BJ, you'll love her "Ironic", "You Learn" and "Head Over Feet"!!
definatly do head over feet
This was written for a movie entitle City of Angels about an angel coming to earth and falling in love with a mortal. Alan is wrote this song in 20 minutes after watching the yet to be released movie. She’s amazing.
She and Goo Goo Dolls (did I remember that correctly?) were asked to write songs for the movie. It's strange how both songs ended up having the same tone even though they were written completely independently
The whole Jagged little pill was a masterpiece. I'm sure your probably read that there was a hidden bonus track that's called your house and it's her Acapela and it's amazing. 🔥🔥❤
Yes!
Yes yes yes. Amazing album and really shook people.
Damn. I haven’t heard this song in so many years, yet I remember every single word of it. Thanks for checking this song out👍🏻
Her phrasing, the pauses in the middle of words is astounding, great reaction as always.
😊 thank you
Another one is "Thank U" a real good deep song. "You Learn" is good too.
Alanis hit the scene when I was about 16 (I'm 41 now) and I appreciated her talent but this song man... This song is brilliant. ❤ Love you guys, love the channel. 💛
Thank you for reacting to this song. Alanis really put her heart and soul into it.
Alanis has gained 7 Grammys and altogether 26 awards for her performances and song writing!
She is still singing. I think she took some time for family too. She is currently on the 25th anniversary tour of her jagged little pill album. She released a few new songs, a good one that’s different is, these are the reasons I drink.
I remember listening to this when i drove cross country by myself. I had the windows down and the sound all the way up. It was thrilling and a great memory
This song was Alanis’ first time bringing in influences of Eastern/world music. After her rapid rise to fame from her album Jagged Little Pill, she felt totally overwhelmed and went to India for a couple months to escape all of it. She brought some musical influences back with her, and this song, Uninvited, was the first song she wrote and released after that trip. Her work since then often still includes elements of Middle Eastern and Indian music.
Song she did for a very heavy movie...."City of Angels"
This is from the movie (City of Angels) after you see it the song really makes sense.
Ah one of her best but very underrated songs!
Her best IMO!!
I love how Alanis leaves you wondering... what did she decide after she deliberated? Love the song!
This song is both beautiful and haunting... Matt Cardle does an absolutely incredible live cover of this song that's on RUclips. I highly recommend you guys check it out, even just in your own time. It's a bit heavier and more rock oriented, but it's great.
I love Alanis sooooooooo much and have for soooooooooooo many years. She has soooooooooo many songs that you can react to. I love your show btw guys and 👍
Wife here..Cool Rhyme BJ!!.."Don't come to my house on a Tuesday because you're UNINVITED "ya'll are ADORABLE!!...ASIA.., I agree..she's so unique..dark ..yet symphonic sound..perfect definition!!..Mystic....Great description BJ..,Thank you for the insightful review!!.awesome!!
Agree. She has many different levels of pitch and tone. She can do most any song. In fact her singing ability has improved since those younger days of those older songs. Her voice is matured and so has she she has grown into a very beautiful woman.
I’m w everyone else bringing up the live version with the full orchestra. It’s friggin MAGIC✨
I think it is more than just a unique sound. It is that she puts so much emotion into what she sings. I don't know if she orchestrates it all herself or, like many singers, allows the band to do what they feel works with her starting melody but the music on this track is also outstanding. I get goosebumps every time I hear this song.
Alanis Morrisette is one of the great lyricists of our generation.
Great song, haunting, dark, and perfectly performed. Play this in your car, volume up loud, and sing every word. And rock out with the symphony!
Good Lord. My favorite song by Alanis! Y’all picked a banger! Much love, Asia and BJ! Fantastic.
❤❤
A very haunting song which is one of my favourites. It was used in the movie City of Angels.
The floating notes from the orchestra paired with her voice are such a contrast to the stalkery/dark lyrics. Powerful.
Oh guys....you should see her do this LIVE ! I just saw her last September and it was amazing !
This song give me chills. And, check out the live version -you won’t be sorry.
Perfect timing. I was just watching another RUclipsr react to Ironic. I love Alanis' passion. Her vocals are so underrated. Plus, the drama of songs like this and Forgiven get me. Love! I'd love to hear her sing with Amy Lee or hear Amy Lee cover an Alanis song.
Awwwwwww - I was so hoping you guys would have checked out her live concert version of this. It's a MASTERPIECE with a live amazing orchestra behind her. But glad that you found it anyways. This is easily one of my favorite songs from her. Cheers from Canada!
Love this song❤❤❤ Thanks Guys!!!
I got my son hooked on her at a young age. We saw her in concert acoustic. She talks about her songs before singing them. Saw her right in Niagara Falls NY right over the bridge from Niagara Falls Canada.
Glad you guys reacted to this! Favorite Alanis Morissette song by far. It's just got such a dark sound to it and her vocals...when she's singing with herself it's just amazing.
Seen her tons of times... this song is always intense and emotional... rocking! Also, to your last point... she's still doin' it! Her latest album (and tour) is amazing!
“Your house” is an a cappella track that was hidden at the end of jagged Little pill… It is an absolute must listen! ❤
She has another haunting song called “Not As We” that really breaks me every time I hear it. The video is like a little movie…
Yes please!
Oh...this was from the Movie soundtrack; City of Angels. We had it on VHS, LOL. Yes, I am that old.
Glad you listened. This song is beautiful❤
I like her because she is unique. Agree. I love her mix of so many sounds, too
This song is beast live. Her vocals are just crazy and the orchestra kills it too.
Saw her sing this live at SLC OLYMPICS. WAS INCREDIBLE!
I watched Asia carefully listen to the orchestra and react/appreciate the effect of the darkness. Nicely done! 👍
Alanis morissette was the premier female vocalist of Gen X, period.
She became an international sensation upon her 1995 record release entitled Jagged Little Pill which sold 33 million copies world-wide. I would suggest Hand in my Pocket from that record. A highly unusual voice and mix of genres. Good reaction, TY.
Love the musical score and arrangement. It really helped highlight the lyrics and the mood she created.
Alanis I’ve attended many concerts when she toured 🇬🇧 Uk she is absolutely amazing live and such a talented singer song writer, and she plays harmonica piano flute and guitar, her debut album when she signed with Madonna’s label sold 33 million copies world wide ( bitter little pill ) she gave the Drummer before he joined the Foo Fighters his first job in her band sorry he passed away lately at a young age ! I have my tickets for Alanis forthcoming concerts this summer cannot wait to see her live again!
Jagged Little Pill
@@dougbarton4668 sorry I meant jagged little pill !
How dope it would be to hear this song in some kinda of creepy movie at some important scene The vibes are immaculate
My favourite girl .
Love Alanis 😉🥰😘😘😘😘
She sounds amazing live and this song, it's almost chilling it's so good. There is a video of her singing You Oughta Know acoustic on the Howard Stern show that is outstanding!
I like her song ‘So Pure’… a more light hearted song, lesser known but still worthy of checking out. It’s got yet a different sound to this, Hand in My Pocket and You Outta Know so you might find it interesting to check out. The ‘So Pure’ video is fun so be sure to catch that one.
Glad you heard the dark underside. This is a track from a movie. An angle came to earth & fell for a human. Your uninvited. The song catches all the passion of the experience
I like a bunch of Alanis songs but this is my favorite. Dark & mysterious. The orchestra is powerful throughout & it rocks at the end. Still haven’t seen City of Angels but its soundtrack is great.
This song has the same epic feel that's an aspect of the most recent live version of Led Zep doing Kashmir (2012).
I've heard this song dozens of time, and made the Kashmir connection for the first time on this listen--I was going to comment about the connection before reading thru the comments and finding yours :-)
Agree. It’s very dramatic like Kashmir.
I enjoy her and this ability to tell a story in song.. unfortunately not too many new artist understand how to do this.. there's a lice live version of her singing this on some award show and its amazing..
The Grammy live version is MASSIVE! 💗
Every Song of her is so beautifull
Personally feel this is this is Alanis's best song, it's even better performed live... has such an epic feel to it, I'm often reminded of Led Zeppelin's 'Kashmir' when hearing this song.
The Jagged Little Pill album is a monster it hits!-“Thank you” and “You learn” and “Head over feet” are definitely also musts- and I’d love to see y’all do this one LIVE- Epic and beautiful to 👀 as well- 💖💙
Yesssss, dark, full of dread, tension, a masterpiece. Just not a song I choose to listen to that frequently. It’s a lot!
Great song, frickin great singer. 👍❤🤙
I was in my 20s during the 90s and a huge Alanis Morissette fan. This is one of my favorite songs of all time! A masterpiece, SHE is a masterpiece
Thank you for coming back to Alanis!!!
Our pleasure!
This song was the closing credits of the movie "City of Angels". ❤🙌
This song was featured on the soundtrack of the film, City of Angels, and has everything to do with Meg Ryan's character's relationship to Nicholas Cage's character. Wonderful movie, wonderful song, thanks for letting us re-visit it.
Her doing this live on MTV was ELECTRIC. Everybody was excited for Alanis' return and BOY did she deliver ✔️ The song was brand new, and the crowd still knew every word. Simply amazing.
I don't know much about her but she has a beautiful voice. The music seems to have Arabic roots.
Need videos with Alanis. Just one of those artists where the videos are so integral to the music
The live version hits so much harder
This song is from the movie soundtrack City of Angels, starring Meg Ryan and Nicolas Cage. Alanis wrote this song for the movie.
Favorite pass time "Watching the stoic squirm" Great lyrics! "Life...the uncharted terror" Peace.....!
Great song; lyrically one of her best.
You are both truly fun and wise!,thanks so much for all your work and
Positive energy!
Easily my favorite of many great songs by her. When this is performed at one of her concerts is epic...she gets lost in the music.
This song is very Cinematic -it was used in the Soundtrack for the movie City of Angels.
Was never into Alanis Morissette too much, she scares me 😆😂
Ha, ha, -- you should be scared!
@@jerickson725 No kidding, guarding my loins.😂
The symphonic sound along with the the minor or diminished notes
reminds me a little of Kashmir by Zeppelin. She’s amazing..one of a kind.
My FAVORITE Alanis song!
Chills.
Every. Single. Time.
Not sure, but someone said this was about a stalker. It’s also on the soundtrack to the movie, City of Angels.
This was from the 1998 movie "City of Angels" starring Nick Cage and Meg Ryan. Fantastic movie. Another big hit from that movie was from another Canadian female, in Sarah McLauchlan and the song "Angel". Both songs quite haunting, and if you watch the movie you'll see why. For the record, it is not a horror movie, but deals with life and afterlife. You should watch it. Great flick.
He said it perfectly! "Mystic"
this is probably my favorite songs by her. I dont know 100% why...it just hit me at a certain moment in time and just stuck with me...
Ahhh, the 90's...and my 20's...God, how I miss them both!! Lol.
Please, check out her songs, "Ironic" and "Thank You"?
If you can, the Ironic video is fun to watch along with the song.
Thanks! Take care. Peace & Love. ✌🏼♥️
Alanis is incredible! I'll be seeing her in concert this summer, I'm so excited to hear those vocals live. Thank you for your reaction!!!!!
There's a song called "Still" that I think is her most well written and emotional that not many people react to. I'd live to see you guys react to it. :)
More of her.
You Channel is so cool.
You Dive deep in different music 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Such a powerful song, and yes, a tad on the dark side... and I will second the comment below... now check out Thank You, which is just as powerful, but from a much kinder and gentler space. It's deeply profound and beautifully done.
Cool yall. Thanks for taking this request. This is another great one of hers. Have a great day! I like the mysterious sound in the beginning.
Thanks for listening
This song is epic. My favourite Alanis song is "Thank U".
Watching tv, and this song was on a channel as I was flipping through, and it was synced. Crazy coincidence.
If you want more background on this song it was created for the movie called city of angels. Its a movie based on an angel who strives on being useful on earth but can never truely reveal himself.
