When you find an artist that instantly removes you from your surroundings, that's the rabbit hole you want to jump down into. Joe cocker made a living from doing covers...... like nobody else could! JC passed away in Dec of 2014 at 70 years of age from lung cancer….. RIP and TY for the music you left us. TY for reacting.
There's a reason this song has endured for decades, and why no one else but Joe Cocker can give it the beauty and gravitas it deserves. It's the same reason only Leonard Cohen can truly sing "Hallelujah."
He has always had that connection with his voice and his heart. It takes one hell of an artist to claim the definitive version of a Beatles song from them in their hayday.
He was, is and always will be the voice. He did not sign a song, he was the song. He could sign the phone directory and put so much into it, give it such a back story, there will be an emotional connection
Wow Beth, I have never seen another vocal coach cry to an artist in all the years of RUclips. It made me cry watching you, we know Joe can belt out all of the soulful sounds, but this song is so personal, we know he is just singing this to one person in his life, it comes from a place deep inside his heart. Thank you for a wonderful reaction.
I an a 69 year old man that grew up with Joe in his time,, Beth, thank you for doing this as this song he did,,, could only be done by him. It's not that there are so many words, but the voice with the heartfelt feelings you can see in Joe's face, that says it all. Yes, Beth,, It touched my heart, my very soul, as it did for you, and,,,yes, Even a man can cry.
Joe had a one of a kind voice. I watch this and A Little Help From My Friends. And I always get tears. As a musician myself. His brilliant style . The emotions he put into everything. Is what got him so many fans. And he wasn't the I don't talk to fans type. Joe would try to talk to everyone. Gentleman So so talented. So very much missed. Hard to believe it will be 7yrs this year since Joe left our world for the big stage in the sky. RIP Joe Cocker. 1941-2014.
Denny Wilson was a real musician. I hear his heart when I hear his song. If he had only got royalties from it, history could have been kinder to him. This adds even more emotion to a performance that is perfectly married with the original intention.
This song gets me every time I hear it. I've sang it too. To a woman who's no longer in my life. Brings me to tears every time. Lovely reaction. Thank you Beth.
When I hear Joe Cocker sing, it's like the most happy and sad string of notes at the same time. I did see him once in the early 80's and he was very moving, very touching, very sincere.
I saw Cocker live at a small venue in Baltimore almost 20 years ago. Live, his voice is like nothing I've ever heard. It's very difficult to describe but you could literally feel his voice in the air around you. Recordings completely fail at capturing the experience of hearing his voice live. You're right about his heart. He put 100% into every song. His encore was an a capella version of this song and it was just absolutely amazing.
My pops when I was 16 took me to his concert and twenty years later I still remember that night. Honestly, one the most heart felt and emotional singers ever born, he’s just brilliant. 🙌🏻💙
One of my all time favorite singers. I loved this man for his out pouring. But as sad as I hate to say it by this age and his lung problems starting to show, it really is sad that he truely was struggling. Still loved by many though and may we all remember the heat and soul he us. Rest in peace dear friend. Legend
Beth, you nailed it on this. Joe is in a class all by himself. Just pure and deep emotional expression that is felt by his audience to the bottom of their souls. What more could you ask from a performer. Mic drop!
He once said in a interview that he could not believe any one would pay to hear him sing ..listen to just a little help from my friends ..oh and I loved your reactions thumbs up 👍.
You are very welcome Beth. I have a suggestion for your own listening pleasure. (It may be too long for a "reaction", although it would be an amazing one.) ruclips.net/video/LLn3FT9BsRs/видео.html&ab_channel=fisicoturista
My Joe Cocker!!! Ever since I was a child I totally understood his voice, his presence, his artistry. I was in Mexico City, and he was so far away!!! What a pleasure it's been have been born in the 60s'. Too bad, he is not here anymore because I could hug him a long long long long long time!!! 😔
This song, the way HE sings it, lives within anyone who has ever been in love whether fulfilled or unrequited. Nobody can even come close to the depth of emotion he displays when he sings it, IMHO. Blessed be.
I love the way that you started tearing up from the very moment he started singing - no matter how many times I hear this song I do exactly the same - there is some sort of magic in his voice that just hits you instantly
Billy Preston cowrite that song !! I didn't knew last week. Huge song for Joe Cocker a master of soul !! I love your sweet réaction. You make me feel better Miss. A little warm in my life ... Thanks again...
btw the best Love Song ever . The German Fans always loved him , his Incredible Voice was brocken that time of course what the Music Industrie did to him in the early day's after Woodstock . They took the money , he had to do so many Concerts in a row for nearly no payed for , because of the contract he signed , for all his performences the right was on their side . They left him with his alcohol problems on the Bulky Waste . He performed at a Concert on ' The Rockpalast ' in Germany It was like he's being reborn for his own second career. I've bought the Video from that concert , there's a song called ' wasted Years ' that he performed , it's like a mirrow of his life ...it makes me cry everytime . What a lost . Thx again to his wife ,who saved his Soul and gave him all the Love he deserved .
Sang this song at karaoke many times. Once, i asked this couple their name, then dedicated the song to her from him. They were such a loving couple. The look in her eyes and that smile, along with his look as i never told them what i was gonna do, was perfect. This was around 12 years ago. Hope they are still together
On the studio version, he ends on a very delicate, almost whispered high G#, and it's the most stunning part part of the performance. He sustains the vowel of the word "me" and morphs it into an "ah" sound. Breathtaking.
Such a unique performer. Mesmerizing and soulful. You leave his concert never disappointed and touched by his singing. I like the fact that what he leaves behind is timeless and all generations can experience his talents
You’re reaction is just like many on this one. I truly don’t think I’ve ever made it through this song…any version he’s done…without tearing up. Also brings back many memories as my mom would play this record all the time and she’d also be tearing up. Joe Cocker was one of a kind
Joe was definately unique. The way I always thought about describing what he gave us is, Joe Cocker didn't sing to us with his voice, but with his heart and soul. Our world is better becsuse of him.
I have very little knowledge of music, I only know what I like. I like the pure, clean, clear singing voices, but on the flip side, I also like the dirty, gritty, gravelly, rough voices. When you see Joe it looks like he has put in a 15-hour day doing backbreaking manual farm work. He puts his all into a song.
I watched this Video twice, first time concentrating on Joe Cocker and on what you said... second time only watching you, without listening to the details ... worth a reaction video of its own

It all showed in your face! No need for comments. Joe Cocker doesn't seem so much as to sing from emotion or the heart but from his very soul. Beautiful song. Loved it and your reaction to it. Tyfs.
It's your freckles and red hair, that put icing, on the cake. His voice and the few words from the song, said it all. Thanks for this one Beth. Brought back so many special memories.
Joe Cocker is a true master st emotive expression. If you enjoy his skills you MUST check out Dennis Locoriere's of Dr. Hook and the Medicine Show's masterful expressions in "Silvia's Mother" and "Carry Me Carrie". His vocals will absolutely floor you.

I heard someone say once, and I positively agree, that the notes he almost hits are far more beautiful than they would be if he actually hit them.
brilliant
Love that
100% the truth. Joe was on another plane, emotionally. Rest in peace!
That’s the way a tear sounds

It is criminal that Joe Cocker is not in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. So much great work out there for us to enjoy.
It's been said that Stevie Ray Vaughn played the guitar like his life depended on it. I believe Joe Cocker sang much in the same way. What a legend.
Couldn't agree more 👏
Talent is one thing, delivery is everything.
Watching Joe Cocker, you get this feeling that no one, not a single human in existence, could possibly be feeling the song as much as he is.
Janis Joplin has the same talent imo.

so true. The raw feelings pour through in both of those songs.
I've seen other performances of this song and this is the best by far just Joe and the guitar is all that's needed
Joe Cocker should be proud of showing us this part of you. Thank you Joe
He expressed this song as if it was his last dying breath for his one love.
Joes voice takes the audience to his special place. The emotion is real .
You are so beautifull when you sing Mr Joe Cocker
