Few weeks ago, I interview for a customer service agent for new discount airline Breeze, agents are expected to vacuum the aircraft, clean up the toilet in 45 minutes, ready for next flight 😢

More media coverage. Now something as benign as a hydraulic system going down goes on the news, and god forbid it’s a Boeing, even though it happens all the time to other planes

@@zachthomas7810 I’m all for the media focus. Keeps airlines on their toes. The scrutiny can help reduce complacency within the industry and close off any shortcuts manufacturers and airlines may be taking. Demand for air travel goes down and brings airfare prices down.

@@stephenhuang well the thing about media scrutiny is the media doesn’t know much about what they’re reporting on. And if you live a life of aviation you would understand that aviation specifically is a subject they really know nothing about. There is a culture problem at Boeing that needs immediate intervention, but everything else is pure alarmist media nonsense

Because the execs push them to the limit for more profit.

I agree with a comment here about there being more media coverage making it seem like every airline is falling apart. Unfortunately, it has not always been correct media coverage over the past three months, so that makes things seems worse.
However, there is truth to what this story is about. Corporations are run for profit over anything else. We in the industry have talked about this for decades, but no one would believe what we were saying.
Now that Boeing has been exposed for their lack of Quality Control, their ignoring of employees concerns, and several new mishaps since the Max aircraft crashes, maybe more people will believe that even in the highly technical field of aviation maintenance, there is management push-back on working safely. Because this will take longer to get an aircraft to the gate. If it's safe to fly or not doesn't matter, it made it to the gate is what matters most.
